Treatments -Aveda - Smooth Infusion Style-Prep Smoother
Bulbasaur 10/8/2011 8:08:00 AM
Definitely a HG product for me! I have long hair that frizzes a lot and seems lifeless. This product really smoothes my hair and makes them all shiny and soft. I love the herbal scent that it has and have been complimented on it as well. I use this two different ways, either as a prep for my damp hair before blow drying it, in which case it gives my hair a very polished look. Or, when I feel lazy, I put in my damp hair and let my hair air dry for the night. The next morning, my hair has a rich voluminous texture and is still frizz free and very easy to style. Will definitely repurchase, even though the price is quite steep, and this will surely become a staple in my hair routine.
Skincare - Body -LUSH - Wiccy Magic Muscles Massage Bar
Bulbasaur 7/25/2011 11:11:00 AM
This is my favorite Lush massage bar... by FAR. I absolutely LOVE the smell. It reminds me of tiger balm, a product that my mom used to rub on my back whenever I was sore. It does the exact same thing. It relieves the pain in my sore muscles and provides a really nice soothing massaging experience. It does leave my skin a little greasy, but since I use it before going to bed I don't mind at all. I have purchased two bars so far and plan or purchasing many many more. Just like other reviewers have said, the beans end up falling everywhere when you're nearly done with the bar, this gets a little annoying. But then again I love feeling them roll on my skin a few seconds after they fall so no biggie here for me.
For the price, this is really a find. It applies really smoothly, is easy to carry around and covers red spots or dark circles with enough coverage. I only use it during the winter because my skin is really pale and I found the perfect shade for it. During the summertime, my skin changes so much with the sun, I use a blend of two concealers (one package) from another brand because it's easier than carrying two sticks. I've gone through two sticks and will definitely continue to repurchase!
I LOVE this tea. And I'm not even a tea drinker. I always find that's too bitter or tastes too much like herbs or leafs. But this tastes wonderful. Like previous reviewers said, it is naturally sweetened and you don't need to put anything in it to make it taste good. It has a comforting taste and aroma and I can't wait to drink some in the autumn or winter. The only downside is the price and it's the only reason I don't drink it daily.
I have gone through three of those small pots in the past two years, using it on and off. At first, I thought it worked really well, hydrating my skin and removing makeup, without giving me an oily feeling. I thought I had found the perfect cleanser/makeup remover. Now, I can't use the thing. It doesn't remove my mascara and I am left with racoon eyes after my shower. It leaves my skin so oily and greasy that I need to use ocean salt to remove all excess oil from it. And I need to use soap to remove the product from my hands after applying it. In the end, it really didn't do anything for me after a while.
LOVE the smell. It's my fave soap from Lush. My skin isn't dry at all so I don't have any of the drying feelings other reviewers have mentionned. The only downside, I don't feel like it cleans all that much in areas that need special care (armpits, private parts and feet). So I tend to pair it with a regular non hydrating soap that lathers a lot just to make sure.
This product leaves my skin really oily and I hate applying it. I feel it takes forever to sink into my skin, especially my forehead and chin. You really have to put only a little on your skin, otherwise your face becomes an oily mess. I find that cream very useful for cold winter days that dry my skin, but otherwise, I cannot use it for 10 out of 12 months. I'm also not very fond of the smell and the packaging really bugs me because you always end up having cream on the lids and it gets really messy if you carry it around. I also find it's really expensive compared to other lush creams and I don't see why. This product might be good for people with very dry skin. Will definitely not repurchase.
HG concealer here if you use it properly! You absolutely need to use a makeup base if you're using this product otherwise it will not apply well. It will look cakey and flakey and very unnatural. A tip I've also discovered with time is that it's preferable to use a concealer brush for the application and dab the product on your skin. Then use a bigger liquid foundation brush to blend the product. Using the bigger brush to blend prevents the cakey look because instead of using a small concealer brush that is already overfilled with the product you use a bigger brush that leaves plenty of room for taking out the excess product. I use the green on my chin whenever I have breakouts and they do wonders to hide the redness. When my pimples are too big, I sometimes use the lighter beige to cover the green a little, so that I don't look white. I use the yellow beige to cover my dark circles and dark spots in the inner corner of my eyes. This works wonderfully for me during the summer, when I am more tan and provides enough coverage (but not perfect) during the winter, when I'm really pale. I use the lighter beige on my nose to cover any uneven color or big pore. I don't use the blue highlighting color anymore, because I've bought another highlighter that looks more natural on my cool light skin. I also don't use the brown at all, it gave me unnatural streaks for contouring and I prefer using a powder bronzer. Will definitely repurchase, but even with daily application, I can't see the bottom of this!
I really like that product. I use it on my legs after shaving and it gives them a really soft - although slightly greasy - skin. I enjoy the smell as well. I use it on my butt hoping that the exfoliating will help me with the cellulite (here's to hoping!). I also sometimes use it on my upper arms. I have small pimples that are not noticeable to the eyes but I can feel them when I touch my arm. I use to have lots of them when I was a teen, but now only a few of them remain. I use this product to exfoliate the skin there and to remove that bumpy/dead skin feeling around those pimples. The product hurts a little when you apply it on your skin, but that's the case with every good exfoliating product I've ever tried. The only downside is that the product ends up breaking into little pieces when you're halfway through with it. But that doesn't put me away from repurchasing.
I love this product. I don't use it as a toner though but I have other several uses for it: 1) In the morning I use this on my face after putting sunscreen and before my makeup base. I find that it takes away the extra oil from the sunscreen and with it I have to use less of my makeup base because the application goes more smoothly. 2) After putting on makeup, if I find that my face is a little too powdery or cakey I put a few sprays on my face. I find that it automatically brightens up my complexion and it gives me a natural glow. I can also do some extra blending if I find that my concealer or foundation was showing somewhere. 3) If I am hot during the way, a few sprays will definitely freshen me up and it removes the extra oily feeling on my face. 4) My boyfriend tends to get sunburn (he often refuses to put on sunscreen) and he hates the greasy feeling most creams leave on his skin. He lets me spray this product on him to relieve his burn and hydrate his skin. I can't say that this is super effective, but it does hydrate more than just splashing water on it. The bottle size is perfect and I have it in my purse at all times. One bottle can last me up to 7 months to a year. For the price, it really is a steal.
Foundations -Unlisted Brand - Faerie Organic Mineral Makeup
Bulbasaur 7/25/2011 8:34:00 AM
ALLERGY TO THIS PRODUCT. I tried the sample kit (with add on) from this company because I had previously used another brand of mineral makeup that made my face itchy and swollen. I originally thought it was from the bismuth chloridine that the other company used, so I was really excited to try out the samples from Faerie Organics. To my surprise, I had some kind of allergic reaction to it as well. Although my face was not itchy, I felt really swollen and had a general feeling of heaviness all over my face. I tried using only the concealer, only the foundation, only the mineral veil, but each one of them gave me the same allergic reaction. Also, the finish wasn't as good as what I had previously experienced with mineral makeup, I found that the coverage wasn't optimal (and I have fairly even skin) and the mineral veil not shiny enough. I can't comment on the packaging, but using the samples was really a hassle, it was really hard not to make a mess out of the process and trying to get a tiny amount of product on the brushes was almost impossible.
Polishes -New York Color - In a New York Color Minute Quick Dry Nail Polish
Bulbasaur 7/25/2011 8:21:00 AM
I have this in Pier 17, which is a shimmery midnight blue. I have put this nail polish on for several times and it chips really easily. I don't know if it's specific to that color, but I've previously had other NYC nail polishes that didn't chip that easily. I always use a base coat, two thin coats and a top coat and that polish chipped within less than 24 hours, each one of the last two times I used it. When I saw that it was chipped, I was able to scratch the whole nail polish off with no effort, which says a lot about its holding quality. The color is really pretty though, although it is more blue than what you see in the bottle. The application is easy and it is not streaky at all. It does leave a really soft finish on your nails. I will definitely not purchase again and pretty sure I won't be using this on my hands again.
Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum
Bulbasaur 7/8/2011 12:28:00 PM
I LOVE this product. I have medium lenght lashes that are not curled at all, they are straight as can be. I use a lash curler first, curling every milimeter in a fast pace for maximum curl. Then I apply this primer that cristallizes my curl and makes it stay through the day. It also gives maximum volume to my lashes with its thick white paste. You absolutely have to apply a mascara afterwards as the paste is too visible because of its thickness.
I used the Bare Escentuals light starter kit. ALLERGY TO THIS PRODUCT. My face was swollen and red all over. My face was itching all day at several places (under the eyes, forehead and chin). I also have an allergy to cheap jewelry that is not gold or silver, so that may explain my reaction to the bismuth chloridine. I loved the brushes though and the application was easy and fun. I really wished I did not have an allergic reaction to this product because I loved the finish (it looked gorgeous) and the application process a lot. I purchased the brushes to use with other make-up. I am NOT ALLERGIC TO THE BRUSHES. I've also ordered samples from other companies that do not use bismuth chloridine in their mineral makeup. EDIT: I am allergic to other mineral makeup as well, the samples I've ordered from another company left me face feeling swollen and heavy(but not itchy). There must be some other ingredient that triggers that feeling of ''metal'' heaviness.
