Lipstick -NARS - Semi-Matte in Heat Wave

This is my "summer" red. I really love this colour, but I recommend "dabbing" it in with a finger to give it the stained look. Great staying power.

Lipstick -NARS - Jungle Red

I am a huge red lipstick fan, so I like this red. It's not a "classic Hollywood red" like red lizzard (which is probably my favourite of the two), but it is a true red and I really like it. Great staying power.

Lipstick -NARS - Red Lizard
tijanarm 11/29/2007 1:07:00 PM
This is one of my all-time favourites along with MAC's Russian Red. I am a huge matte red lipstick fan. This one has a great staying power. True red colour. If you find it too drying, make sure you exfoliate lips daily and treat them overnight with a rich lip treatment. I have extremely sensitive lips, that crack at the first sign of the winter, yet with proper care, I can wear this lipstick almost on a daily basis.

Lipstick -NARS - Christina
tijanarm 11/29/2007 1:04:00 PM
I love NARS products, especially their lipsticks and lip stains. I have probably 10 in my makeup bag. I bought Christina, because it was a departure from my staple matte red lipstick. It's a nice colour, lots of pearl, but it is probably not my "wow" colour. I feel like this will be a great summer evening colour. Good staying power. Wouldn't repurchase though.

Blush -NARS - The Multiple in Palm Beach

I am really on a fence about this product. I love the concept, packaging and portability, as well as the colour, but I just don't like it's staying power. Maybe it's my skin (which btw is not oily at all) or something else, but this comes of very quickly from my face. I end up having to retouch my face 3-4 times during the day, which a) I don't like to do and b) uses up tons of product which makes the product really expensive. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but this product does not get points for the longevity. BTW, I love NARS products and use their makeup almost exclusively and I really wanted to love this product.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush

Same as with the Laguna bronzer, when I first tried this, I was not impressed at all... it looked so pale on me, nothing special. When I had a NARS makeover and the makeup artist suggested she put this on me, I told her it would never work. Well, she proved me wrong and now, along with Laguna, this is is my HG cheek treatment. The key is to use a good brush and to think of this just as the name says... It's a subtle glow enhancer, that in my opinion looks very natural. It does add colour, and nice colour I might add, especially when you put it on top of Laguna on the apples of your cheeks. Love it!

Bronzers -NARS - Laguna
tijanarm 11/29/2007 12:45:00 PM
When I originally bought this product, it was because I read rave reviews on it. I got home and quickly tossed it into my "I'll never use this again" pile as I could not make it work. Several months later, I had a NARS makeover and I loved the way this bronzer looked on me. I asked the makeup artist to share her "secret" with me, because when I would put it on, it ALWAYS looked like my face was dirtly, muddy (even though I am not very light in complexion). She told me that the trick was in the brush. I was not too keen on spending 70 bucks CDN on a bronzer brush, but I ended up doing it. I figured if it didn' work I could always return it. Well.... SO TRUE! Once I started using a proper brush, it was a completely different story. Now I cannot live without this bronzer and I just recently purchased a replacement as I ran out of my original one. As for the brush, you don't have to spend so much money on a NARS brush. Sephora has a bronzer brush that is exactly the same style, only 1/2 price from NARS'. I defeintely recommend using this shorter bristled fat brush as it will make a HUGE difference.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Lip Stain Gloss in Victoire
tijanarm 11/29/2007 12:36:00 PM
I am a huge NARS lipstain fan and I'm probably a bit subjective, but so far I really like all three colours that I have bought in this category. Victoire was my last purchase and it's a beautiful colour that is not overpowering, yet it is noticeable on your lips. As with all NARS lipstains, it will probably look better if you just dab a bit onto your lips and spread with your finger. If it's too drying, yet you do not want to use a balm or lip gloss, just make sure you use rich lip treatment every night before you go to bed and you exfoliate lips on a regular basis. I have EXTREMELY dry lips that crack at the first sign of winter, yet as long as I moisturize at night I have no issues with matte lipsticks and lip stains.

Lips -NARS - Lip Stain Gloss in Indian Red
tijanarm 11/29/2007 12:31:00 PM
This was my first venture into NARS lipstain category and I was not disappointed. The colour is beautiful, rich red, but then, I am a huge red lipstick fan. I recommend, as with any other NARS lipstain, exfoliating and treating lips overnight with rich lip treatment on a regular basis to prevent drying out. Also, just as with any other NARS lipstain, the colour will, in my opinion look much better if you only use a dab in the middle of lips and "pat in" with your finger. Great product!

Lips -NARS - Lip Stain Gloss in Sayonara
tijanarm 11/29/2007 12:25:00 PM
I bought Sayonara as an everyday/office colour and it didn't disappoint me. As some of the reviewers already pointed out, you need to just dab a bit and spread with your finger, otherwise I can see it looking unnatural. I already knew this as I also own two other NARS lipstains. It has a decent staying power, comes off after you've eaten, but otherwise stays on put. I would definitely repurchase, but I think this will last quite a long time so I won't have to. Word of advice, if it's too drying, yet you do not want to use a balm or lip gloss, just make sure you use rich lip treatment every night before you go to bed and you exfoliate lips on a regular basis. I have EXTREMELY dry lips that crack at the first sign of winter, yet as long as I moisturize at night I have no issues with matte lipsticks and lip stains.
