Treatments (Eye) -Unlisted Brand - Lilash - Purified Eyelash Stimulator

WARNING: Enjoy your experience with Lilash while it lasts as it will soon begin to stop working for you! At first I was in love with this product. It did what it promised, albeit with some redness, itchiness and irritation. After about 6 months I went through 1 tube and reordered. I noticed that my lashes weren't nearly as dramatic and I was getting a lot of irritation. I researched online and found out that your body grows immune to this product over time. So I wasted $130 on a product that would no longer work for me. If it had continued to work, I would have repurchased. Edit: Ok, apparently if you take a break from this product, it will work again for you but not quite the same dramatic results. Also, I believe it is responsible for darkening my eye colour. For that reason alone I do not recommend it.

Gels/Soaps -Neutrogena - Acne Stress Control Power-Cream Body Wash [DISCONTINUED]

Awesome body wash. It clears up the occasional bacne I'm prone to, yet I can use it on my entire body and it doesn't dry out my skin. Love this stuff! - I am so mad that they discontinued this!!! Why do they do that??? This has been the only thing that has worked miracles for me. I'm going to Rexall today to see if I can buy out the rest of their stock.

Powder -Napoleon Perdis - NP Set Pasarella Powder Foundation
rated 3 of 5

I don't normally buy a product without checking on the review first, but I was in need of some major retail therapy and I am a powder foundation junkie. The description on the box had be sold and I recklessly decided to purchase. My regular Merle Norman powder foundation had been leaving me rather dry and I was intrigued by the Shea butter in this foundation. The colour is bang-on, the finish is soft and smooth, perfect amount of coverage and very natural-looking. I cannot say enough good things about this foundation and I will definitely be repurchasing. Edit: Initially I was swept up in this stuff but I have noticed that it goes on a little grainy and doesn't have the best coverage. I prefer StudioFix and Merle Norman's Ultra Powder Foundation to this.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Power - Cream Wash
rated 5 of 5

Surprised that this cleanser hasn't received a better rating. I have been looking for a cleanser that would control my moderate breakouts and not dry the hell out of my skin. After just a few days of using this, my face looks 100% improved. Less dry, far less breakouts and just generally much healthier. I find it best to use a makeup remover first, then I wipe off this cleanser with a washcloth. I absolutely love this stuff and am so happy to have finally found something that works for my skin. P.S. The body wash is also amazing.

Primer/ Corrector -MAC - Prep + Prime Face Protect SPF 50

Two words: cystic acne. Very unimpressed. It might make my makeup look great but cystic acne is the worst. Edit: Ok, I gave this product another try and apparently the cystic acne was unrelated because it is now a staple in my makeup routine. Cannot live without this product. Makes my makeup look fantastic and lasts all day, plus has SPF.

Cleansers -Merle Norman - Luxiva Foaming Cleanser-Normal/Dry
rated 5 of 5
amanda23 8/10/2008 9:47:00 AM

This is the best cleanser I have ever used, and I have used a lot over the years. This is for the Normal to Dry cleanser. Really I have normal to oily skin, but this cleanser should be targeted more towards normal to oily skin rather than normal to dry. It is highly concentrated, so it should last quite awhile. I often find that I take too much if I'm not careful. It gives great lather, removes all of my makeup and makes my skin look and feel beautiful. No film and easy to wash off. I have strayed before and tried other cleansers and am always disappointed how they fall short. I believe I will use this for the rest of my life. On a side note: there is a world of difference between the Normal to Oily and Normal to Dry foaming cleanser. The Normal to Oily doesn't in the least compare to this cleanser, and I wouldn't even recommend it to oily, acne-prone people. It is harsh and awful.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
rated 5 of 5

Let me start off by saying that the majority of negative reviews on here are either from people who break out from Mac foundations (unfortunately) or aren't applying this in a way that does it justice. I am one of the fortunate ones that doesn't break out from this. From there, the very best way to apply it is to first use a primer, it seems to make a world of difference with this foundation, and then to apply it with a good kabuki brush, not the sponge. Application with this sponge tends to create the 'cakey' effect that most are speaking of. And I swear this gives the most amazing, flawless, lasting, beautiful coverage I have ever experienced in a foundation. I will never ever be without this stuff, and I have bounced from foundation to foundation over the years because I could never stay satisfied with one kind. I am a lifer for stufio fix! P.S. I think a good primer and having already decent skin is the key to enjoying this makeup.

Blush -Cover Girl - Cheekers - soft sable
rated 2 of 5

I just bought this upon reading some MUA reviews, and I must say that I'm impressed. It's such a gorgeous colour and gives a beautiful glow to my face. It's the perfect peachy, pink, golden colour. Will definitely purchase again! EDIT:Upon further use, I noticed that the frosted finish on this blush is rather unnatural. I noticed my boyfriend looking at my cheeks in a funny way when we were in daylight. He only gives me that look when there's something wrong w my makeup. I ended up tossing it.

Powder -Merle Norman - Luxiva Purely Mineral Makeup
rated 3 of 5

After much deliberation on this product, I think I've finally decided that I love it. At first, I had some trouble getting over the fact that it has a slight shimmer, since I have always liked my foundation very matte, but I've come to the conclusion that it is more of a glow. The coverage is surprisingly excellent, though I would still recommend using a concealer underneath. It just looks like beautiful, flawless skin. I actually found that it controls oil better than most other foundations I have used in the past. EDIT: I've had a love/hate relationship w this foundation. I loved the way it looked initially, but as the day went on, I just felt sooooo shiny. This also made my skin itch and feel uncomfortable. I can't use this. I like something more matte.

Toners -Neostrata - Toning Solution (8%)
rated 5 of 5
amanda23 7/31/2007 10:53:00 PM

I am in love with this product. Glycolic acid will not thin your skin, I recently learned. It actually helps your cells to replenish and rejuvenate and the skin-thinning is a myth. I cannot use this more than once a day as my skin is on the sensitive side. If a use it twice a day I have gotten a rash. So I use a gentle cleanser followed by this nightly. It keeps my skin incredibly clear and keeps acne in check. Even small issues that seem to be turning into acne, this makes disappear by morning.

My absolute HG self tanner. I have tried a lot, Get a tonne of compliments on my tan with this stuff. Easy to use and nearly impossible to mess up. The colour is completely natural, and it doesn't stink. Love it. Someone mentioned that this is discontinued, it isn't but you can only purchase in Canada.

Liquid -Clinique - Clarifying Makeup Clear Skin Formula [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
amanda23 2/19/2004 1:46:00 AM

Far too expensive for it's quality. It was rather difficult to blend, and was inconsistent, meaning that for the first 5 hours it looked amazing, but seemed to get darker as the day progressed. You could buy Almay "Skin Stays Clean" for less than half the price, and it is a far superior foundation.

Blush -Rimmel - Berry
rated 3 of 5
amanda23 2/19/2004 1:37:00 AM

This color might work on some people, but not me. My complexion has blue undertones, so I usually buy blushes with "berry" in the title. This colour is not berry, it's more rose with the slightest tad of orange. Not a bad colour, but not good for blue undertones. Plus, it didn't last long and lacked pigmentation. Awesome price though, and would look great on those with yellow undertones, or a tanned complexion.

Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets

I cannot live without these. Simply blotting with tissue paper does not do as thorough of job as these. They are kind of pricey but I just can't live without them (especially in the summertime). Just blot your oily areas and your face looks instantly fresh.
