Foundations -MAC - Hypereal [DISCONTINUED]

This product is very sheer, intended for the dewy, glowing look. That being said, it doesn't cover blemishes well, but it does even out your skin tone. It's creamy and smooth to apply, and your skin looks luminous. Best results are when you're outside, and have direct sunlight on your face--then you can see tiny sparkles. Inside, however, it just looks dewy--and there's nothing wrong with that! I took a point off for the price ($25 with tax) and because it doesn't cover great, but it's wonderful if you have clear skin or want a glowing look.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
Angel_Ling 5/22/2003 7:14:00 PM
Studio Fix foundation in pressed powder is great: it is easy to apply (being in powder form) but it covers like a liquid. The price is a bit steep ($24), but MAC has a wide variety of shades. The finish is matte, but it goes on a bit thicker than a regular pressed powder, so it covers blemishes and ruddiness wonderfully. Would definitely purchase again.

Styling Products -Citre Shine - Shine Mist

This product didn't make my hair that much shiner, but it did make it substantially softer. The orange smell is delicious, and the price is pretty cheap ($4-$6). And actually, it didn't really weigh my hair down either, or make it greasy. Then again, I have thick hair, so for those with finer hair, I would just spray it no more than 2-3 times in your hair.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Beeswax Lip Balm
Angel_Ling 5/19/2003 4:53:00 PM
The packaging is cute, and you can't beat the price (less than $3). However, the balm is hard, so it's difficult to apply. It gives a tingling minty feeling on your lips at first. However, it doesn't moisturize well, nor does it have sunscreen. It would be good as a base for lipstick, since it won't cause bleeding. Also, after it wears off, my lips start peeling a lot. All in all, I think there's better lip balms out there.

Styling Products -KMS California - Hair Play-Styling Grit
Angel_Ling 5/17/2003 3:04:00 PM
This product is supposed to give your hair texture, similar to a pomade. However, the product itself is very hard, so it's difficult to get much out of the container. More importantly, the product is very sticky and extremely hard to spread throughout your hair. When you do manage to spread some of it, it leaves your hair feeling very stiff and greasy. While it does seperate your hair somewhat, it doesn't help with flyaways, frizz, or add to texture. To top it off, it's very expensive (just under $20 with tax), so I would absolutely not recommend this product.

Lip Treatments -Bath and Body Works - Lip Balms
Angel_Ling 5/16/2003 3:47:00 PM
I thought the packaging was cute--a fat tube, like a glue stick. Very distinctive. There is a slight candy-pink tint to your lips. However, I didn't like the tiny "exfoliating" balls in it. The thing I dislike most about the balm is the aftertaste it leaves in your mouth when you've been wearing it for a few minutes. I've never noticed it with any other balm, except this one. It leaves your mouth with a thick, overly sweet taste.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Frizz-Ease Wind Down Extra Strength Relaxing Creme [DISCONTINUED]
Angel_Ling 5/14/2003 12:15:00 PM
I don't think the product smells at all; maybe they revamped it. In any case, it doesn't really do much of anything, including tame frizz nor straighten my wavy hair--I saw no difference. I did notice it made my hair slightly softer. It's pretty much the equivalent of a leave-in conditioner. Would not recommend for straightening waves or taming frizz. Just buy a good conditioner.

Styling Products -Sebastian - Laminates Grip Defining Polish
Angel_Ling 5/7/2003 5:23:00 PM
I think the gel is about average in its hold, compared to other gels. What makes this gel stand out, however, is that it gives unparalleled shine. My hair is long, thick, and wavy, and after I finish blowdrying with it, it looks as though I had used any other (good) gel. But as the day goes on, however, the shine from the product increases, and by the end of the night, my hair is very shiny and polished. Perfect for going out late at night. Great for blowdrying hair straight or wavy.

Blush -L'Oreal - Translucide Gel Blush [DISCONTINUED]
Angel_Ling 5/5/2003 2:40:00 PM
This blush is really great, because the color is very natural, especially if you get one of the more neutral colors. The thing I like best about this product is that it gives a dewey look to your cheeks, so you look very fresh-faced. You definitely notice a difference in color and in a sheer shine.

Styling Products -Bumble & Bumble - Brilliantine

You get a very small amount, but you're only supposed to use a small amount every time, so the tube is supposed to last a few months, at the very least. It's good as a finishing product to dry hair; if you put it in wet hair and style, you probably won't see much of a difference. However, it's good for making your hair a bit "dirty" and texturized, like you slept in it. Especially good for people with poofy hair, since it'll make your hair lie flatter. It calms frizz a bit, too.

Styling Products -John Frieda - Dream Cream
Angel_Ling 5/5/2003 2:27:00 PM
This product is good as a finishing touch to dry hair--it doesn't have any hold. It temporarily smoothes down frizz, but after it dries (takes about an hour), your hair looks the same. If you reapply it every few hours, you'll notice a difference at the end of the night.
