Lip Gloss -Red Earth Cosmetics - Lip Gloss - PU049 Lavender Pink w/Blue Sheen
Aniger86 6/18/2006 2:44:00 PM
This review is for lipgloss PU012- Its fushia with sparkles in the tube but applies in a nice sheer pink with sparkles. The colour was not as intense as I expected judging from the tube, neither was it what I expected when I applied it on my lips. Nevertheless, its a nice colour and looks nice when applied with another pale pink lip gloss(like Maybelline's Water Shine Ice in Chilled Lychee). I haven't had it for a long time and had only purchased it because I could get a discount on it. However, I've finished nearly half the tube and I haven't been wearing it everyday . I would repurchase. One down side to the product though is the design- It comes with a wand applicator and after applying and when screwing the applicator back to the tube, you would notice how is it that some of the gloss oozes out of the tube. Firstly, this is a waste of gloss(maybe that's why I've used nearly half the tube) and secondly, the excess product on the outside of the tube makes the tube sticky even if you clean the excess away. I noticed this seems to be a problem with Esprit lipgloss in the tube with wand pakaging. My mom used to had one and she encountered the same problem too.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
Aniger86 6/18/2006 2:20:00 PM
I got this foundation because the mousse formula is something I haven't tried. I started applying the foundation like I usually do, starting from the forehead first. I noticed that the foundation was patchy on dry areas on my forehead though I had moisturised(I have combi skin but lately, I've been experiencing dry patches on my forehead and cheeks. I usually apply some lightweight moisturiser on these areas before foundation and it seems to work well- patches were not enhanced and foundations went on just fine, except for this foundation though). Also, after application, I noticed that my forehead looked dull. Since I applied this at night, I can't imagine how bad it would have looked in the day time! I then decided to test this product on my cheeks. I started applying it from the jawline inwards and I noticed that it didn't blend well at all(blending was a nightmare and I ended up trying to rub the foundation into the skin) and was turning patchy too(this part of my face had no dry patches). At this point, I immediately stopped applying the foundation. Since this is my first attempt at this product, I'm not sure if I could be applying it incorrectly or if I should be using more moisturiser before application. If the product gets better, I'll edit this review and give it more lippies, but in the mean time, its only getting one lippy. Edit: After reading the reviews here, I picked up some application tips and decided to try the foundation again. Firstly, I applied alot more moisturiser on my face that are prone to having dryness showing when wearing foundation. I applied the mositurier to the point where my face was quite moist. I then applied some primer. I used my fingers to pat the mousse onto my face but I used a sponge to blend it in because using my fingers was causing the foundation to flake. When using a sponge, I noticed a lot of the product was 'absorbed'by it rather than being spread on the face, resulting in a sheer application. One thing I really like about this foundation is that it covers and smooths the mini ance on my forehead and conceals the blackheads on my nose rather than sit on them and makes my skin look like its clogged, which all my other liquid foundations do. After applying it on the entire face, it does look quite velvety actually. BUT, I realised that I had a bit of dry patches here and there. Also, I think this stuff DOES seep into enlarged pores and can make them bigger than they are. I used a pore concealer for my large pores so this wasen't a big issue. As the day worn on, I realised it made my face look dull, quite a contrust from when I just applied where it looked velvety and smooth. I really like how it does cover mini ance and blackheads well but I'm not sure its worth having dull skin for it. I'll try to continue experimanting with this findation and post updates. For now, its getting 3 lippes.

Bronzers -The Body Shop - Brush-On Bronze Beads
Aniger86 6/9/2006 3:23:00 AM
I can't remember the exact name of my bronzer but I think this should be it since they come in small little beads in a round container. They come in 2 shades- one for lighter skin tones and the other for darker skin tones. I got the darker one because at that point of time, I had a tan. I'm back to my original fair colour now but this bronzer still works for me though..I can't compare this against other bronzers since this is my first but I do think its pretty good and considering the price, I think its a good buy. I normally use it as a blusher but not not as an all over bronzer for the face though.

Lip Gloss -Baby Pink - Lipgloss in Strawberry
Aniger86 6/8/2006 11:14:00 PM
This is my second Baby Pink lipgloss. Its not bad really, considering the price- its ard 4 over SIN dollars I think. Its possibly the best cheap gloss I have come across. It might be a bit too sticky for some people's liking but I have no problems with the stickyness though. The colour's pretty good too- the first one I had was this light pearly pink and I nearly finished it- I have quite a few lip glosses so I hardly reach the bottom of the tube usually unless I like them quite a bit.

Powder -Chanel - Double Perfection Compact Teint Poudre Mat Eclat [DISCONTINUED]
Aniger86 6/8/2006 10:39:00 PM
I got this due to the glowing reviews here but I'm quite dissapointed by it. I don't think its anything special and quite ordinary really. I won't be repurchasing again. I would give it 3 lipsticks, but since I could get a possibly better powder foundation for half the price, I decided to give it 2 lippies instead.

Concealers -Red Earth Cosmetics - All Round Concealer
Aniger86 6/8/2006 10:16:00 PM
This is a concealer palatte that comes in 3 colour concealers and one beige one. I use the yellow concealer the most often and hardly use the others at all. I have very bad undereye circles and I used to try using the yellow concealer under my normal concealer but I realised as the day wore on, it leaves a greyish tint under the eye area and it was something that bothered me alot so I stopped using it. I just realised awhile ago though that its actually sufficent simply using the yellow concealer alone and setting it with powder. This seems to cover the circles even better(strange I know)and doesn't leave a greyish tint too. I would repurchase but I wished it could be sold in the yellow conclear only(instead of having a 4 in 1) since I really don't need the other colours at all. I recently perchased the Bobbi Brown corrector and if it doesn't work out as well as this does, I would probably repurcshse this again- I just really dislike wasting all the other colours I don't use.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Anessa Neosunscreen SPF50+ PA+++
Aniger86 6/8/2006 9:55:00 PM
This review is for Shiseido Anessa Sunscreen SPF 50+.Amongest all the sunscreens/sunblocks I have tried, I think this is second best(first is the brand Avenue something or other- I can't remember it now since its been quite a while since I used it). It would have been first best if not for the white cast it gives the face after application. I like the light texture of this suncreen though- its quite watery and goes on smoothly, though it does leave a slight sticky feeling but I feel this isn't much of a problem though, but rather, the white cast bothers me more because it can cause some foundations to turn lighter on the face. Also, another thing to note when using this is that when applying foundation(liquid ones) afterwards, you need to slowly built your foundation to the desired coverage bit by bit...I discovered this the first time when I used it- what I did after applying the sunscreen was putting on the same amount of foundation as I normally did and the results *really* were disastrous- it looked as if I had plastered on a thick mask on my face and I realised that the foundation also turned up patchy on certain areas. But I'm not sure I won't be repurchasing though, since the white cast bothers me quite me a bit.

Liquid -Maybelline - Wonder Finish
Aniger86 6/8/2006 9:29:00 PM
When I first had it intially, I totally hated it. I felt it was too yellow on me(got it in light beige) and it was oxidising and turning quite orange on me. But recently, I had rediscovered this foundation again when I decided to give it another try and it seems to be working pretty well now- the colour doesn't seem to be as yellow as I thought, and based on the current foundations I have now, it seems to be the best match in colour too..Its also not oxidising badly on me now but I think this though was not a problem with the product in the first place at all- at one point of time, I had liquid foundations turning orange on me but my skin seems to be adapting to them quite well now. Also, I think this product is definately quite a bit better than Lancome's Photogenic Liquid Foundation.

Concealers -Stila - Perfecting Concealer
Aniger86 2/19/2006 5:48:00 AM
I just got this product so I've used it once only. It covers quite well with just a tiny amount of product. Quite impressive really...(I have very bad undereye circles so I'm always on a look out for new concealers to try) However, I got it in its lightest shade(shade a) and it was not a light enough match for me. What I do then is to apply this first and then use a lighter concealer over it. Edit: I've used this concealer for awhile now and I realised shade a is just right for me actually.Nothing too orangey or yellow(a problem with MAC moisturecover concealer). I'm not terribly fair so I think perhaps Stila should have lighter colours so that fairer girls can have better shade selections. I like that this concealer is light and quite pigmented so it covers pretty well. Nothing exceptional (i'm still looking for my HG) but its worth a shot nevertheless.

Powder -Shiseido - UV White Whitening Compact
Aniger86 9/14/2005 4:39:00 AM
I got this in pink ocher. When I had tried it on at the counter, it seemed like a good match, but when I bought it home to try, I realised that the shade was too dark, but otherwise, I find it fairly good. Besides, it has SPF25. However, about a week of using it, I realised that it was causing me beakouts. If not for this, I might have repurchased. It does costs more than a Dior compact but I think it offers better coverage compared to Dior

Powder -Christian Dior - Diorskin Lasting UV Compact
Aniger86 7/5/2005 5:13:00 AM
I got this in the pink base. I find that it does not really go onto the face smoothly but compared to other powder foundations that I have, this does not make my face as mask like as the others have. It didn't really lasted long on my face before gliding off. I have only wore it for a few hours before I realised that it seems to be gliding off & looks somewhat patchy on my cheek area. I have combimation skin with mild ance but suffer from white bumps that look like oil seeds on my face. I don't think I will be repurchasing...

Mascara -Shiseido - The Makeup Advanced Volume Mascara
Aniger86 6/30/2005 5:37:00 AM
Got it after seeing the reviews here.& also to complement my Shiseido mascara base. Though it is suppose to be waterproof(both products are), it didn't stay waterproof. & no, I didn't even go swimming with it. All I did was wore it for a couple of hours under warm weather & I could see panda eyes around my eyes!! Also, I didn't see any added volume, though it did lengthen if u do apply enough of it. However, after u have applied enough of it, it becomes too heavy & the lashes straighten. But anyway, its not as if the mascara holds a curl well(even with the Shiseido base). Am very disappointed. Was expecting a lot more for a mascara that costs so much. Will not be repurchasing!!!

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline-Rich Ground
Aniger86 6/28/2005 1:51:00 AM
I got this after seeing the reviews here. I found that it does have relatively good staying power. I actually tested it by wearing it to bed & I didn't see any noticible smudging. However, I regretted getting it in this shade as I am a contact lens wearer & prone to having eyes that can be quite red frequently so the red in this product sort of highlighted the redness in my eyes. Maybe I should have gotten it in another colour...

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup
Aniger86 6/28/2005 1:42:00 AM
The one that I got was Revlon, Colorstay Makeup foundation. I am not exactly sure if it is same as the one that I am suppose to be reviweing here. But since I couldn't find another more suitable category for this foundation, I decided to review here. Hope its the right one! I got this in shade 02, buff which I found a bit too light, but shade 03 would have been too dark, so I decided on 02. I found the liquid a bit too thick & difficult to blend. Besides, after blending, it seems to look sort of patchy & sort of mask like though matte looking. Also, it highlighted rather than conceal the blackheads on my nose. All in all, I think that this is a below average foundation & will not be repurchasing. Update: With a makeup primer underneath this foundation, I find it doesn't hightlight blackheads on my nose as badly as it used to. I still find the application quite think even though I'm trying to be very light handled and apply as little as possible. The thing about this foundation I feel is that it doesn't 'sink' into skin to make it look natural but rather, it *sits* ontop of the skin, thus instead of covering flaws on the face, you can still see the flaws and it looks like the foundation is plastered on them. One thing I noted about this product is that its quite similar to Estee Lauder's Double Wear, just that EL's one is even thicker in texture and applys even thicker no matter how much moisturiser I apply beneath the foundation. Anyway, one thing I like about Revlon Colorstay is that it does control oil better than other foundations. Actually, I feel this foundation and EL's Double wear are the only ones that somewhat control oil on my T zone. But then again, I suspect its because they are soo thick. One more thing- it creases in the area between the sides of my nose and mouth when I smile or laugh. I'm currently using this foundation because I like the oil control on the T zone but if I find something better, I would no doubt move on.

Moisturizers -St. Ives - Cucumber & Elastin Eye & Face Stress Gel ] [DISCONTINUED]
Aniger86 6/24/2005 2:58:00 AM
Got this when it was on the top ten best eye treatment list at ivillage. Quite disappointed considering all the hype. When applied on my eyes, the fragrance was too strong & made my eyes sting! When applied on my face, it made my skin feel super tight(not in a good way sort of tight) & felt quite sticky as well. Will not repurchase.
