Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Dial HELLO KITTY Moisturizing Body Wash
rated 5 of 5

The bottle caught my eye, but the smell made me bring it home. It's a clean, fresh grapefruit scent. I wouldn't exactly call it moisturizing, but it doesn't strip my skin either. After showering, I can wait 5-10 minutes while I tend to my face before slathering lotion on my body and my skin feels just fine. My only qualms are that sometimes I have difficulty opening the bottle and this particular scent can be hard to find locally.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Maui Babe AFTER Browning Lotion

Applied religiously along with aloe since my sunburn first showed up. It's definitely moisturizing, but I still ended up peeling. I think if the sunburn is bad enough, there's just no stopping the peeling stage. The skin is dead and has to be sloughed off. I also am not a fan of the scent nor the price tag. I expected something nutty or tropical, but instead it smells 'granny'.

Mascara -Maybelline - The Rocket Volum' Express Waterproof
rated 4 of 5

I'm not one to buy one of these big, colorful tube "hype" mascaras. Their wands are usually too cumbersome for me to apply neatly. And I'm not a fan of plastic bristles. But, I've been staying at my mom's & forgot to pack mascara so I grabbed one of hers. Luckily this is the waterproof version, which is what I prefer. I found this to be easy to apply and it even lifted up my straight eyelashes and made them appear curled without the actual use of a curler. I'm due for a new tube of mascara & will definitely be purchasing this one.

Gels/Soaps -Unlisted Brand - Ivory Moisturizing Body Wash

This review is for the aloe version. I've been an Ivory girl for as long as I can remember, so I decided to give the aloe body wash a try. I like to use the original bar soap to clean sweatier areas on my body and ensure all my deodorant is removed and use the body wash all over. The aloe version smells like fresh laundry to me and makes me feel squeaky clean and soft without stripping my skin. I wouldn't call it moisturizing, but when I step out of the bath/shower, I don't feel the need to immediately slather on some lotion. The original version is nice as well, but I prefer the aloe as it seems a bit more gentle. This stuff is also pretty cheap and comes in a rather large bottle.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Up & Up Smoothing Shave Gel with Soy
rated 1 of 5
thevnilly 5/12/2013 10:23:00 PM

Works just fine for my legs, but my bikini area is another story. The first time I used it, I experienced razor burn, which has never happened to me before. I chalked it up to an old razor and forgot about it. I let the area heal up completely and used the same shave gel and a new razor (a kind I've used millions of times w/o problems). Once again, insane razor burn and interrupted swimsuit or romantic plans. The shave gel is the only reasonable explanation for the problem. Too bad, since I assumed it would be especially gentle. Back to Skintimate!

Lotions/ Creams -Avene - Cicalfate Creme reparatrice
rated 4 of 5
thevnilly 5/8/2013 4:26:00 PM

I originally purchased Cicalfate after a glycolic peel mishap last year. I had stupidly attacked a spot with Duac the night before a peel, forgot to tell my nurse, & ended up with a burn. This didn't help with that situation, but it was pretty bad and required Rx hydrocortisone to heal. But I kept the Cicalfate around, as I'd heard great things about it. Lately I've developed 2 odd, red bumps in-line with each other right on my cheekbone, under my eye. To sum it up, it hasn't been pretty, nothing has gotten rid of them, & they've been there for about 2 weeks. They've slowly started to shrink down with time, but last night I decided to rub Cicalfate on them. The area around the bumps has been irritated, due to my many tries to eradicate these little devils. This morning I woke up to more even-toned skin and the bumps seem slightly smaller and definitely less angry. I'm gonna keep up with the Cicalfate and hope they continue to heal without further breaking me out. If you have sensitive, easily irritated skin give this stuff a shot. I especially like it after plucking my brows to relieve the red skin.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - St. Ives Renewing Collagen Elastin Advanced Body Moisturizer
rated 4 of 5
thevnilly 3/15/2013 4:28:00 PM

I love all the St. Ives lotions. They're affordable and moisturizing. The Collagen/Elastin smells a little fruity to me, but nothing overpowering or offensive. I'm not quite sure if the ingredients in each variation do anything specific, but they all leave the skin feeling nice.

Skincare - Body -Johnson & Johnson - Baby Oil
rated 4 of 5
thevnilly 2/26/2013 10:18:00 PM

I like to mix baby oil and sugar in 1:2 ratio and use as a scrub in the shower/bath whenever my skin's dry. It feels oily while showering, but once you get out and dry off it just leaves you with a nice, moisturized feeling. The only cons I can think of are yes, it does leave your shower slippery/coated and I have to make sure to avoid getting it on my face, since my facial skin doesn't agree with baby oil.

Shampoo -Unlisted Brand - DHS Clear Shampoo
rated 4 of 5
thevnilly 2/17/2013 9:23:00 AM

Most shampoos cause me to get clogged pores along my hairline, forehead, & temples. I'm not sure if it's the fragrance or SLS found in most, but ever since I've been using DHS I no longer have this problem. It's pricier than what I'm used to (anywhere from $13-$17 for 16oz. depending on where you buy it online), but if it saves me from annoying bumps then it's well worth it. I try to use only a small amount, since it isn't the cheapest. It's also not the easiest to spread and work through long hair. I have fine hair that needs to be washed every day unless I'm just spending the day at home and can throw it up in a bun. So, I haven't experienced the dryness like others have. Overall it's another great product from Person & Covey! Their amazing DML Forte Cream is the only facial moisturizer I've been able to use 100% problem free for the past 2 years.

Lotions/ Creams -St. Ives - Oatmeal and Shea butter
rated 4 of 5
thevnilly 2/11/2013 3:34:00 PM

Probably my favorite drugstore body lotion so far. Feels rich and creamy going on, but sinks in nicely without leaving me feeling greasy. I don't have overly dry skin, but moisturizer after showering is a must for me. Smells a little tropical, probably due to the shea butter, but the scent doesn't last too long on the skin. I was able to score a large bottle + travel size tube at Target for $3.99. I like it so much that next time I'm in need of body wash, I'll be sure to try out the matching oatmeal and shea one.

Concealers -Maybelline - Dream Lumi Touch
rated 2 of 5
thevnilly 1/30/2013

I don't have severe dark circles, but I like a brightening, radiant effect for the darkness that does peep through my light skin. I wouldn't recommend this concealer to a friend, though. It's difficult to know how many clicks it's gonna take to get the product out. Inevitably, too much comes out and I either end up applying too much or wasting some. Ivory was a decent match for my NC20 coloring, but I did find that it settled in my lines and just looked cakey and too iridescent for my liking. I also suspect it's clogging the pores under my eyes. Bummer. If you're looking for an light, luminous concealer, I recommend the Garnier Anti-Dark Circle Roller over Dream Lumi.

Clothes -Victoria's Secret - Miraculous bra
rated 3 of 5
thevnilly 1/9/2013 5:33:00 PM

Got this on sale for a decent price and I must admit, bought it out of curiosity what I'd look like with DDs (I'm a 32C naturally). First off, I always have to get 34C in VS, because their band sizing is off to me and always too small. I immediately whipped this baby on when it arrived and marched myself out to my hubby to ask if it was laughable or not. He stared for a bit with a confused look on his face, then laughter ensued. I have a thin frame and decent sized boobage already (people always ask if they're fake :/ ), so this thing makes me look ridiculous. Still debating on whether or not to return it. There are times my chest feels flattened under sweatshirts or layers, so this little number might come in handy every once in awhile. I definitely would never pay full price for it, though. The extreme amount of padding can also feel a bit uncomfortable because there's just so darn much of it pressing against and pushing up the ladies.

Styling Products -TRESemme - Instant Heat Tamer Spray
rated 1 of 5
thevnilly 1/5/2013 2:03:00 PM

I don't really overdo it with heat styling too often, so I can't tell if this product is doing anything for my hair or not. But, it smells good and is cheap. It detangles my hair nicely, so I also spray it on my wet hair whether I'm heat styling or not. UPDATE** After getting some red bumps on both temples and a clogged bump on the back of my neck, I've narrowed down these unfortunate new problems to this product. I'm discontinuing my use of it and seeing if the odd acne subsides.
