Top/Base Coats -Seche Vite - Seche Base Coat
eelin77 12/5/2012 3:20:00 AM
I'm a fan of the top coat. So I thought the base coat would be just as fantastic. WRONG! A reviewer below said exactly what I experienced: "Dries super quickly, but my polish came off in one piece on each nail. Strange. Top coat is way better." Now I have an almost full bottle and don't know what to do with it. What a waste of money. Don't ever buy this!

Cleansers -Bioderma - Sensibio H2O (aka Crealine H20 Solution micellaire)
eelin77 10/1/2012 11:23:00 PM
Pros: - Very gentle on the skin; no redness at all. - No oily residue. - No alcohol, so it's not drying. Cons: - Price (there are cheaper alternatives where I live - Singapore). - Does not remove stubborn waterproof makeup effectively; a few more swipes are required. The only upside here is that it's gentle so no redness from the rubbing. OVERALL: While I like that this is gentle and removes most makeup, I can't really use it as a face+eyes makeup remover, especially since I wear waterproof eye makeup. However, if you wear light or non-waterproof makeup, this would be a great option for you. Because I live in a hot and humid climate, I tend to wear more budge-proof makeup, so I feel like I still have to exfoliate chemically (face scrub) or mechanically (konjac sponge or some other face brush) in order to get the feeling that ALL my makeup is off my skin. For the moment, I will stick with Cleansing Express for face and a bi-phase eye makeup remover for my waterproof eye makeup.

Lip Treatments -Kiehls - Lip Balm SPF 15 in Hue 58B
eelin77 7/29/2012 10:08:00 PM
This has the worst taste and smell ever! It's like putting liquid plastic on your lips, and when you drink anything, your whole mouth and throat reeks of that sickening plastic smell and taste. Yuks! This is going straight to the trash.

Lip Gloss -Maybelline - Color Sensational Lip Gloss (All Colors)
eelin77 5/3/2012 10:21:00 PM
One of my favourite lip glosses. Over here in Singapore, it's called Watershine Collagen and the caps are a dark gun metal shade instead. I got shade PF32 (no pretty name given to the shade) and it's a lovely rosy mauve, no shimmer at all, which I love. For the price, it comes with lots of product - 7ml. It's not sticky or tacky at all - feels like a liquid balm, has the nicest slightly fruity scent, just enough pigment (not too little, not too much) to give the lips a very natural rosy shade. Instantly adds colour to the face without looking made-up! I'm simply loving it! Not too sure about the shimmer shades, but this is one of my favourite lip gloss shades. Will definitely be repurchasing over and over again!

Eye Makeup Remover -Garnier - Clean Sensitive 2-in-1 Waterproof Eye Makeup Remover
eelin77 4/18/2012 4:47:00 AM
As the previous reviewer said, this exceeded ALL expectations alright!! There are so many eye MU removers that claim this and that, but they have all not really met up to expectations. This, however, is THE eye makeup remover. It removed my waterproof mascara and eyeliner and smokey-eye shadow in just ONE swipe. Yeah, you saw right - ONE swipe!!! All gone!! Pour a little on your cotton pad, gently press on your closed eye for 5-10 seconds, then gently wipe away. Does not sting; no oily or sticky residue, and all the makeup gone. I could not rave more about this. For a large 200ml bottle, the price is great. This is my HG eye makeup remover! Might even use it for the whole face. Then I won't need another makeup remover for the face. Great product!

Liquid -Bourjois - Healthy Mix Serum Gel Foundation
eelin77 4/18/2012 4:41:00 AM
I am in love with this foundation!! Every time I wear it, my skin looks amazing! No other foundation I've tried even comes close. Before I tried this, the Revlon Colorstay was my HG foundation - light yet with good coverage - just that blending takes a bit of practice. While it gave excellent coverage and staying power, you could still tell that there was makeup on the skin. With this Bourjois foundation, the texture is so silky that it's so easy to blend, and feels great on the skin - I've used it with fingers, brush, sponge, all work great! Once it sinks in, it looks just like your very own skin, just better. Even when i finish it with powder, I don't look made up at all. I just look like I have radiant skin :) While coverage is not as good as the Revlon Colorstay, you can easily use concealer on top of it. Or in my case, I use Revlon Colorstay foundation as a concealer. With a light dusting of powder, stays on all day, even in the hot and humid weather I'm in. Oh, by the way, I love using it with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Pressed Powder. Both smell divine and a nice perk in the morning :) The packaging is a nice slim pump bottle that's easy to dispense. I like that it's plastic - won't break and lightweight. Price is good for the quality, so definitely will re-purchase over and over again. My new HG foundation!!

Treatments -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting SERUM
eelin77 3/26/2012 12:39:00 AM
This is a lovely serum that's great for day use too!! It's absorbs nicely into the skin, doesn't feel greasy and leaves the skin with a nice smooth finish. I tried this as a primer in the day time, and it was awesome! So much better than some slippery primers that make your face look so oily after a few hours. It holds makeup in place the whole day - and I mean the WHOLE day, from 8am till i got home at 9pm and my makeup still looked like I just applied it in the morning... and I live in a hot and humid climate where this is almost near impossible to achieve. As a night serum, together with the cream, my skin always feels firmer and plump in the morning, like the skin got enough moisture and sleep. This is a great product that's dual function. This will be a must-bring when I travel. Oh, and I love the scent :) Will definitely repurchase!

Powder -Revlon - New Complexion 2-way Whitening Powder Foundation
eelin77 3/25/2012 11:06:00 PM
I'm generally skeptical about drugstore powder foundations as many are coarse textured and leave a cakey powdery mess no matter how you apply it. But I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. I'll admit I bought it cos it was on super discount, and because I liked how the pearly white case looked. No regrets at all. The powder is quite finely milled and gives fairly good coverage. There are only 4 shades available in Singapore, and fortunately i found 08 honey beige that matched my neutral tone perfectly. (Not easy to find really neutral tones here.) When applied properly (press powder into the skin rather than swipe), it was able to minimise my large pores and give a flawless but natural look. I then lightly brush off any excess with a soft face brush. Oh, the sponge included was good quality too. Didn't cause any breakouts, didn't clog pores and didn't dry out my skin. Feels light on the skin and great for our hot and humid weather. This is definitely worth a try if you can find your shade.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream
eelin77 3/6/2012 10:16:00 PM
This is currently my HG night cream. This is the only moisturiser I've tried so far that seems to plump and hydrate my skin. Every time I use this, I wake up to smooth, hydrated skin, even when I sleep with the dry air conditioning on. All Olay products are scented. I kind of like their scents and so far it hasn't given my skin any problems. If you don't like scented products, I guess Olay isn't for you. I love the texture of this cream - FEELS LIKE VELVET!! A little goes a long way, even for dry skins like mine. My nightly routine is hyaluronic acid, then sometimes retin-A, and then this Olay cream. I use just a little and gently massage the cream into the skin. It doesn't leave any white streaks and the skin feels nice and hydrated. My face will look a but shiny, but who cares, I'm going to bed. As for the sculpting effects, let's face it ladies, there is no miracle cream that will give you a facelift. Only surgery will do that. My only gripe about this product is the packaging - I generally don't like creams in a tub. Would prefer if this was in a pump bottle or squeeze tube. The price is a little higher than regular drug store brands, but I feel it's worth it for the results I get. Definitely stocking up when these go on sale.

Powder -Revlon - ColorStay Aqua Mineral Makeup
eelin77 3/6/2012 9:51:00 PM
This product is great for: - those who want to brighten dull skin - contouring as a highlighter Not good for: - oily skins - those who want a matte finish I feel that Revlon would have done better if they had named this a highlighter or brightening powder, cos that's exactly what it does with the fine shimmers in the powder. The powder is good quality - finely milled, with very fine shimmer, and feels light and cool on the skin. However, I feel it just doesn't work like a regular foundation. I found that this was best applied as a highlight on the cheekbones AFTER you are done with foundation and finishing powder. Application on dry powdered skin is a must, otherwise the powder will just clump up on damp skin. As a highlighter, it gives THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GLOW to the face, thanks to the very fine shimmer particles. Oh, and NEVER use the brush. Use your own blush/contour brush instead. And use only the bare minimum product for maximum results. Use too much and it cakes. Don't chuck the brush, though - it's great as a foundation brush for liquid/cream foundation, and a perfect size for travel :) If it was marketed as a highlighter and with better instructions on application, I might have given it a 4 or maybe even a 5. This is still a good product if you are looking for a highlighter or skin brightener to give you that glowy dewy look.

Foundations -The Body Shop - All-In-One Face Base
eelin77 3/6/2012 9:33:00 PM
Looks like this one is hit or miss. I would say the quality of this powder is good - finely milled and applies on smoothly. However, as with the other reviewers, I agree that it appears powdery and takes a while for it to 'melt' into your skin so the chalkiness disappears. In terms of shades offered - great if you are VERY VERY VERY fair. I'm considered very fair for an Asian, with a slight pink undertone. My first compact was in 02 and that looked a tad bit light, so I bought 03, which still was too light and yellow and made me look like I was ill. (Read on and you will find that some fair girls use 04 and that's still too light. The darkest they have is 06.) The coverage is rather sheer for a foundation. Not good if you have blemishes to cover. And applying cream or liquid concealer on top of this messes up the foundation. It does nothing to soften or minimise pores. A primer is a must, otherwise your pores will just be emphasized. The sponge is useless for application. (It's great, though, for use with some other liquid foundations.) Chuck the sponge and use a dense buffer brush or kabuki. You'll get better results. The packaging is also very bulky, and not like there is a whole lot of product in it (9g/0.3oz). So much for TBS being eco-friendly. Worth a try if it's on sale and if you are VERY VERY fair.

Moisturizers -St. Ives - Collagen-Elastin Essential Moisturizer
eelin77 11/8/2009 11:42:00 AM
Love the scent! Reminds me of a spa... The texture is light yet moisturising. Sinks in nicely into the skin and is not greasy at all. I can even wear it as a day moisturiser in hot and humid weather and not worry that it's too heavy. You get a HUGE tub for an amazing price! I thought Olay was good value... this is even better! Only down side is the packaging. But all you need to do is transfer a small portion to a smaller container, store the rest in your fridge and that cuts down the exposure to air. All in all, great product and great value!

Primer/ Corrector -Sephora - Anti-Shine Primer
eelin77 9/4/2009 5:34:00 AM
This stuff is AMAZING! For S$30, it's worth every single cent. All I need is a little pea-sized amount for my cheeks and forehead and I'm shine-free from 8am till at least 5 or 6pm. I used to have to blot 2-3 times a day, but with this, no more blotting required. It doesn't give a super matte finish (which is unreal), but it keeps the super shine away, and by the end of the day, with a little oil peeking through, it just looks like my make up is sheer. As the name implies, it's an Anti-Shine Primer; so don't expect it to fill out your pores for a smooth base, it won't. It keeps shine away. What I've tried is to use a pore-filler, moisturise, then dab this primer just before putting foundation and powder. Works well for me. And I live in a super hot & humid equatorial country! Hope this helps some of you.

Palettes -Coastal Scents - Ultra Shimmer 88 eye shadow palette
eelin77 6/13/2009 3:29:00 AM
88 shimmery eye colours for this oh-so-affordable price! I'd say go get it! Sure you won't use all the colours, and each shade comes in a small pan, but really... how long do you take to use just one colour from a standard-size pan? Some reviewers says this is too shimmery, but for me it's great for day or night; it's really about the shades you use for the day, and how much you put on your lids. No problems with fallout for me. Like some have mentioned below, and as with ALL eye shadows, you don't need to pick up a whole lot on your brush. Tap off the excess and you won't get fallout. And if you want a more intense coour, just keep building and blending. You get a way better effect this way. Well, hope this helps. And if you are still contemplating the purchase, DON'T. Get it! You won't regret it. I've had so much fun playing with the colours and discovering new shades taht look good on me when I never imagine they would.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - New Flat Top Brush
eelin77 6/10/2009 11:15:00 PM
Can I give this brush 6 lippies??? It’s the bestest, softest brush ever!! I used to think that Body Shop brushes were the best, but this is even better. Even the price is better. This brush is rather dense, so it picks up powder very well. Dab on the face and then buff buff buff! I could not believe my eyes the first time I tried this on my regular powder – it gave my complexion such a velvety smooth finish! And made my pores disappear. A good brush really does make a huge difference in how your make up looks. This brush is a MUST-HAVE and it is so affordable! I’m gonna try it on liquid foundation and see how well it buffs up…
