Cleansers -Arcona - Kiwi Cream Bar
candy_hunter 1/21/2012 2:44:00 AM
I really enjoy using this bar. $40 may seem a lot, but it will last you a very long time! In the long run, this is more cost efficient than my previous face wash (Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel, one bottle for $32 and lasts for 3 months). It lathers very well, the foam is very creamy and rich. The product rinses off with no residue and leaves my face very clean and soft. Other face soaps like Dove is a lot cheaper and not bad, but this one does leave my skin feeling softer than Dove. If you want to make this product last longer, be sure to keep it in the container with the lid shut so that you don't waste product.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
candy_hunter 11/18/2011 2:35:00 AM
Horray for makeup removing towelettes that do the job! This product does remove everything, even waterproof gel eyeliner. I do follow with a cleanser (Cetaphil) afterwards to make sure no residue remains on my face. To remove eye makeup easily, hold the towel on your eyes with light pressure for a minute before wiping, this gives time for the product to break down the makeup.

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - DUO eyelash adhesive

I would say over 90% of professional makeup artists use this eyelash adhesive. Lashes stay on all day, you won't find anything better than this on the market.

Cleansers -Philosophy - Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Cloths
candy_hunter 10/8/2011 5:59:00 PM
I received a free sample of this from Sephora. This product has less makeup removing power than Neutrogena cloths, which is cheaper. Also, the formula seems a bit harsh considering it gave my face quite a burning sensation. I would suggest giving Neutrogena cloths a shot before you try this.

Hair Styling Tools -Remington - T-Studio Pearl Curling Wand
candy_hunter 9/16/2011 2:16:00 AM
I'm in love with this tool! I'm one of those girls who could never use a traditional clamp hair curler, and this changed my life! For the first time of my life I curled my own hair successfully under 20 minutes. The wand is light weight and easy to handle. It heats up in a minute or two, and goes up to as high as 410F. I had it on 3XXF and curled large sections of my hair using the bigger end of it. The tip of the wand is 1/2 inch which is more suitable for creating tight curls. The glove provided with the wand made me work through my hair faster, because I didn't have to be super careful when wrapping my hair around the wand to avoid getting burned. You'll still feel the heat of the wand with the glove on, but at least you won't get burned. Another great thing about using a clamp-free curler is the ease of doing touch ups. It just makes the process so much faster.

Hair -Bumble & Bumble - Color Support Shampoo/Conditioner
candy_hunter 11/28/2010 10:03:00 PM
I purchased a set of this in cool brunette. It really does what it says. I have natural black hair that's dyed medium to light brown. The shampoo and conditioner really does keep it from turning red. If you want to maintain the hair color you have, use this every other time you wash your hair. If you want to brighten the color, use it every time you wash your hair. Just watch out for possible allergic reaction, because there is actual hair dye in the products. The packaging did state it is recommended to do a patch test before applying the product all over. Definitely will repurchase.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
candy_hunter 7/30/2010 1:47:00 AM
It worked very very well for me! I'm a regular user of Retin-a, so my skin usually stays pretty calm. For some stupid reasons, I decided to stop using Retin-a for a month. God knows I've made better decisions before, because all that hormonal acne and pore congestions on the forehead came back. Because of this sudden flare up, I needed something strong. I already have a good basic clay cleansing mask, and didn't want to spend more money. I dissolved two tablets of aspirin with a few drops of water, then mixed it with my clay mask, and applied it to my face. My skin felt much cleaner and brighter than if I didn't add the aspirin! Also, I didn't find it to be too drying, of course you should follow with a good hydrating mask and moisturizer if possible.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray
candy_hunter 7/2/2010 4:26:00 AM
I tried it, and it works! Without this, my makeup would've started melting away at 1 p.m. With this spray, my makeup still looked very good at 9 p.m.! I also like how fine the mist came out of the bottle, very fine and didn't smudge my makeup one bit.

Lip Gloss -Cover Girl - Shineblast
candy_hunter 5/8/2010 10:17:00 PM
This is at best an average drugstore lipgloss. I received this for free from BzzAgent and the shade was "Fire." The color looks very sheer, shine was normal. The whole product itself is very "meh." Its claim that it can compare to department store products (or even other drugstore brands) is an overstatement.

Cleansers -Neutrogena - Oil-Free Acne Wash
candy_hunter 4/3/2010 10:45:00 PM
This is a nice foaming cleanser for oily skin. Anyone with sensitive skin or dry skin should stay away from this. I use this once a day in the a.m., cetaphil and retin-a in the p.m. It helps keep the blackheads and congestions under control, but I don't think using this alone will make your acne go away overnight. After all, this is an over-the-counter product, you simply can't expect this to be miraculous. I have to say you shouldn't use this twice a day unless your skin is very oily, and always moisturize afterwards.

Lotions/ Creams -Eucerin - Aquaphor Healing Ointment
candy_hunter 3/6/2010 2:53:00 AM
I was introduced to Aquaphor by my dermatologist. After a mole removal on my face, my derm gave me a sample-sized tube of this. I was told to constantly keep the wound moisturized with this, so the scab never dries, and the healing process will be much faster with minimal scarring. And my derm was right! I used it just like how she told me to, and now there is barely a scar, and the wounded area healed very quickly. Now I use it on my lips (works just like Kiehl's), and after I pop a pimple to prevent scarring.

Moisturizers -Olay - Complete Defense Daily UV Moisturizer SPF 30 - Sensitive Skin
candy_hunter 3/2/2010 11:42:00 PM
So far I like this a lot. It contains very good sunscreen ingredients (octixonate and zinc oxide), doesn't feel greasy, and hasn't broken me out. Makeup goes on well over it too. I can tell it works because I use retin-a, and if a sunscreen doesn't work my face will start to feel warm while driving. Good product, and will repurchase.

Cleansers -Bioderma - Sebium H2O
candy_hunter 2/3/2010 12:39:00 AM
I like this even more than the original one! I have combination skin, so I decided to switch to this after using Sensibio H2O. The Sensibio H2O was great, but this Sebium H2O is perfect for combination/oily skin! Takes makeup off well, makes my skin feel so clean and soft and hydrated! HG! It's not like I use it on a daily basis, but I always have a bottle at home on days when I am really tired and want to save time.

Eyeliner -Sephora - Flashy Liner Waterproof
candy_hunter 1/13/2010 10:18:00 PM
This is a really good eyeliner. The shade I purchased was flashy copper. It's really long lasting, and the color looks really good with gold and brown eyeshadow. I will definitely look into purchasing other shades!

Crème -L'Oreal - True Match Super Blendable Compact Makeup
candy_hunter 12/8/2009 8:38:00 AM
As far as drugstore foundations go, this is one of the better ones available. Shade selection is a strong advantage of L'oreal's true match collection, and I had no trouble finding a shade by myself. The packaging of this product is nice, no frills. I did not use the cheap sponge it came with, and used a Laura Mercier foundation sponge, which is a lot thicker and provides a better finish. This product looks best when you pick up the product with a sponge, dab off excess on your hands, then just lightly "stamp" the sponge all over your skin. I recommend using a primer first to get a better finish. Flaky skin people should notice that this product will accentuate the flakes and dryness. Overall, good product if you're looking for a basic foundation but don't want to spend a fortune. For people looking for that ultra amazing ooh-la-la finish, head over to department stores.
