Shampoo -L'Occitane - Aromachologie Relaxing Action Shampoo

Why can't I find this shampoo outside of the Four Seasons hotel? I tried this when staying in Boston, and fell completely in love with it - it left my hair soft, silky, shiny, and not at all weighed down. When I find it, I'm purchasing the largest bottle I can get my hands on!

Fragrances -L'Occitane - Vanilla EDT
rated 5 of 5

I'm surprised I'm so in love with the packaging, considering it's fairly plain - but I think it's the simplicity of it that I really enjoy. As for the fragrance, I absolutely adore it without question - it's a rich, sultry, grown up vanilla that has no sharpness in its drydown, and the scent, when sprayed in the hair, lasts for hours and hours, right through till the next day when I shampoo it out. My S.O. loves the smell it leaves on our pillows.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Barbuda (single, Fall 2004)

I waited and waited to get this color, and finally, while in Boston, I snatched it up, falling in love with the lavender-gray shade it promised it would deliver. And while it DID deliver in the first couple of hours, after that, it FADED. So basically I paid $18 for glamorous packaging. It's turned me off to other Nars shadows. I'll stick to my trusted blushes, lipsticks, and multiples - no more Nars shadows for me, thanks.

Lip Liners -Clinique - Cream Shaper for lips
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 10/15/2004 8:40:00 AM

I have this in Mulberry, which is my current fall favorite. It's a shimmery brownish plum on my lips, and it glides beautifully. I was never a huge Clinique lipliner fan, as I don't do well with automatic sharpened pencils, but I'm in love with these cream shapers.

Powder -Shiseido - powdery compact
rated 4 of 5
maliastyle 9/24/2004 12:37:00 AM

I like using this product wet, but only for photos and events. Otherwise, it's too much of a heavy coverage for my liking. It IS a flawless finish, and lasts all day, but I can achieve the same look, although less thick and more natural looking, with the Powdery Foundation, using a moist sponge.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Silky Eye Shadow Duo in Shell Pink
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 9/24/2004 12:19:00 AM

I have fallen in love! The consistency of these shadows IS like silk... so gorgeous! Shell Pink is white on one side, a pearly pink on the other. I use a mixture of both for highlighting the brow bone, cheekbone, and on the forehead - it gives a soft, glowing finish without looking like sparkle. $32 CDN.

Conditioner -L'Oreal - Smooth Intense with Nutrileum
rated 1 of 5
maliastyle 9/24/2004 12:16:00 AM

A terrible conditioner for me. I purchased this with the hope it would do everything it promised - or at the very least, detangle. It did absolutely nothing, except leave my hair a tangled, dry mess.

Shampoo -L'Oreal - Smooth-Intense Vive

Gross, gross, GROSS. Fine, it doesn't feel like it completely rinses out. I can deal with that. I dealt with it for two weeks, and yes, my hair DID feel smoother. But I did NOT think I was going to get dandruff by using this. GROSS.

Crème -Make Up For Ever - Panstick
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 7:27:00 PM

I don't use this as a foundation - it is way too heavy for every day, and would be best suited for film or photography. But on the rare occasion I get a pimple, I also get a dark spot where the pimple was - and when using Panstick as a concealer, my face looks flawless! It has so much pigment, and it sticks. $30 is quite a lot to pay for a concealer, but it's a ton of product and it's perfect coverage. Will likely repurchase.

Lip Liners -Shiseido - The Makeup Lip Pencil
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 7:06:00 PM

The colors are all gorgeous - nothing extravagant, but varied enough that they would go well with most lipsticks on the market. My only gripe is that they're relatively short sticks, and they're $20 CDN. I'm not one to usually complain about price, but my MAC and Make Up For Ever liners serve me well - for about $5 cheaper, and much more product.

Top/Base Coats -MAC - Overlacquer
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 7:02:00 PM

Dried in literally seconds! I don't even bother with color... I usually give myself a quick manicure at home once a week and top my buffed nails with a clear polish. My nails looked glossy but still natural with MAC Overlacquer. $11 CDN.

Lipstick -MAC - Tortilla Tan (frost)
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 6:59:00 PM

How much do I love this lipstick? It's a gorgeous bronzey peach, but the color can be altered so easily with a different liner. Paired with Shiseido's Cocoa liner or MAC Mahogany, it can morph into a fall color, because to me, by itself or with a liner like Whirl, Spice or Cork, it's a guaranteed summer shade.

Lipstick -MAC - Cosmo Lipstick
rated 4 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 6:55:00 PM

I like this color, but I'm sure it would be easy to find in another line - as another MUAer mentioned, it's a color all cosmetic companies create over and over again. i'm not sure i should have paid for this lipstick, as i could have easily Back2MAC'd it. But I must say, the Amplified formula, although thick, is great - highly pigmented, and not at all drying.

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - Glossing Cream with Olive Oil
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 6:47:00 PM

Thank you, thank you, Frederic Fekkai... for giving me beautiful second-day looking hair, for giving my hair shine, for making it so soft and silky people stop me to ask what I use in it. I've tried so many silkening products, and this does everything promised and more. A tad pricey, maybe, but so worth it for what it does. I comb it evenly through wet hair, blow dry, and then run a ceramic iron through it - voila! Perfect magazine hair.

Lipstick -NARS - Lipstick in Dolce Vita
rated 5 of 5
maliastyle 8/26/2004 6:42:00 PM

While purchasing Nars Torrid blush, I passed over a Dolce Vita tester. Knowing the fact that this neutral rosy lipstick was a bestseller, I'd always ignored it, figuring it was one of those much-hyped editors' favorites that would be a total waste of money, like Great Lash mascara turned out to be for me. But for some reason, the color was calling out to me, so without trying it on, I plopped down the $34 CDN and walked out with it, feeling the regret growing deeper and deeper. The last Nars lipstick I'd bought was Spanish Red, which I ended up giving away, despite months of trying to make it work for me. But as soon as I got home, I scrubbed off my lipgloss, applied the Dolce Vita, and WOW. Talk about beautiful and understated! The texture was beautiful - sheer, soft, and velvety, and even after hours of wear, didn't dry my lips. It might have faded a little at the end of my workday the next day, but it had stained my lips, giving me that perfect no-makeup makeup look. So worth the $34 CDN - I absolutely love this lippie.
