Eye Makeup Remover -Almay - Non-Oily Eye Makeup Remover Pads
rated 1 of 5

These are so useless! I can't believe they have "America's No 1 Eye Makeup Remover" emblazoned on the top of the container. The only eye makeup I wear is mascara and eyebrow powder (both would be invisible without lol) and these do not do the job at removal. I finally threw the jar out after trying to use them up. They also sting your eyes and you really have to scrub which is not a good thing for your eyes.

Conditioner -Sexy Hair Concepts - Big Sexy Hair - volumizing conditioner
rated 4 of 5

Looking for some new haircare products, I found a travel pack of the shampoo, conditioner, gel and hairspray at Target for $10. Decided what the heck, I can always use travel bottles anyway for my gym bag. What a surprise, I really like this stuff. I have not used the hair spray because I find they really dry out my hair. The shampoo lathers up nice and seems to cleanse thoroughly but gently, the only thing I wasn't keen on is the smell but then I don't buy hair products for their smell and I dislike perfume in hair products (Biolage is too strong smelling IMO) . The conditioner rinses clean and leaves my hair easy to comb without breakage, this is a big bonus for me. The gel is just enough for a little body and hold without flyaways and does not leave my hair weighed down or crunchy and stiff. I have used the gel on both damp and dry hair with equally good results. I will probably buy the full sizes when I run out. My hair is very fine and oily, this might not be enough conditioning for drier or treated hair. UPDATE: Have been using this for 2 months and it has really built up and weighed my hair down. I also have a hard time combing it which isn't normal for me. Going back to my organics!

Palettes -Cargo - The blu_ray Collection
rated 3 of 5
pupster 5/22/2008 10:12:00 AM

Purchased the blush/highlighter and the lipgloss set separately, Sephora was out of the set when I ordered. The blush/highlighter is really more highlighter than blush and hardly shows up on my medium skintone. It is also quite messy to apply as the powder is very finely milled. You do get a lot of product for the price unlike the lip gloss palette. The lip gloss is a nice texture like all Cargo's lipglosses (I am a fan of these) and they do seem to have a reasonable amount of staying power for gloss. However, I have to vent about the miniscule amount you actually get of each color, for almost $30 this is a total ripoff. The colors are nothing special either, IMO, Clinique's superbalm lip gloss has more staying power. Reviewers have commented on how the compacts look alike and it's hard to tell which is which without reading the bottom labels. This why I took off 1 lippie for packaging, but I solved the problem by using stickers on top of each compact. Can't comment on how they look on high def film since I can't say I'm photographed or on TV ever:)

Cleansers -Clinique - Facial Soap Extra Mild
rated 3 of 5
pupster 5/21/2008 10:39:00 AM

Having tried other products, I always come back to the simple Clinique 3 step system for dry skin. Soap has a fluffy lather that removes my makeup including eye makeup without irritation. I only use mineral powder, it may not be enough to remove long wearing makeup. UPDATE: Still soap and still too drying, but I have switched to the liquid version which I like so much better.

Brows -Clinique - Brow Keeper
rated 1 of 5
pupster 5/18/2008 12:53:00 PM

This is so rubbish!!! As some other reviewers have pointed out, it is very soft and needs constant sharpening. The soft texture also makes it very difficult to sharpen because it just melts away and breaks off. As far as application goes, this is just a thick, waxy mess, when you try to brush through it, then it clumps into a paste texture. Absolutely no good whatsoever, save yourself time and $$$$, get Cover Girl's brow and eye makers, you get two great pencils and a sharpener for under $3 instead of a worthless product for $14.

Lotions/ Creams -Boots - Amazon Forest Body Butter in Mango and Babassu
rated 5 of 5
pupster 5/12/2008 12:33:00 PM

I love this, Boots has always had good products and it's fun to be able to buy them at Target now. This smells wonderful without being too strong and overpowering. Excellent quality, really moisturizing and not sticky. As another reviewer pointed out, this is much better value than TBS's body butters, the same amount of theirs is $20 compared with $10 for this. I also bought the body wash to go with this and loved it. The brazil nut & vanilla one is really good too.

Masks -The Body Shop - Vitamin E Sink-In Moisture Mask
rated 4 of 5
pupster 5/1/2008 12:15:00 PM

Ordered a jar of this after trying it in a GWP. I am comparing this to Clinique's Moisture Surge Extra as a moisture boost and I have used it the same way, after my Clinique 3 step. Vitamin E mask, IMO has far better moisturizing properties and really sinks in, as opposed to MSE which just seems to sit on the surface. However, MSE can be used under or over makeup and this has to be used alone. The way I like to use it to apply some at night and then leaving it on overnight and my skin really does seem less tired looking and lined. Sometimes I do notice the slight stinging on application that other reviewers have mentioned, but no adverse effects from this. I even use it around my eyes which are very sensitive. I got my face sunburned and put tons of this on and then left it overnight, it really helped to soothe the burn and take out some of the redness. The price is a much more reasonable than MSE even at the new price of $19 for a 3oz jar compared with $42 for 2oz of MSE. I only use this occasionally when my skin gets dry, like in the winter time or after too much sun in summer, it could cause breakouts if used too often.

Styling Products -Nexxus - 360° Volume
rated 3 of 5
pupster 5/1/2008 12:06:00 PM

Can is very difficult to hold onto and use, supposed to spray from any angle which it does, but you really have to press hard which is no easy task when trying to hold onto the can's shape. The hold is very stiff and sticky. I think this would be a good hairspray if you have one of those spiky do's, but if you want a soft hold with volume, it's not the one. Going to try the comb thru because I do like diametress and their mousse.

This is supposed to be light conditioning, but on my fine hair it was way too heavy.

Shampoo -Giovanni - Golden Wheat Shampoo

This may be ok for weekly clarifying treatments, but is definitely not a daily shampoo, very harsh and drying.

Styling Products -Giovanni - fattening style gel
rated 1 of 5
pupster 5/1/2008 11:58:00 AM

This did absolutely nothing except make my hair flat and limp. I have very thin and baby fine hair, tried using less and this still did not work. Might be good on someone with frizzy hair to smooth/condition. Flakes big time.

Cleansers -Clinique - Liquid Facial Soap Extra Mild
rated 5 of 5
pupster 4/21/2008 11:12:00 AM

Clinique claims that there is no difference between this liquid soap and the bar soap, in their extra mild formula, other than texture. I have very dry skin and found the bar to be too drying so I decided to give this a try. IMO there is a big difference between the two. The soap is a bar of soap - it has surfactants to make it lather. The liquid soap is not soap, it is a light creamy lotion. There are no lathering ingredients (SLS's), when I checked the ingredients list this is one of the reasons I decided to try it. The easiest way to use it is to apply it to dry skin and then massage in with wet hands and rinse. I find this does not leave the tautness that the bar soap does, rinses clean away and leaves my face nice and soft. I follow up with mild CL and DDML. UPDATE: I have repurchased when they had a gwp, still like using this and a little goes a long way.

Brows -Cover Girl - Brow and Eye Makers
rated 3 of 5
pupster 4/16/2008 12:20:00 PM

Only use this as an eyebrow pencil, it would be far too hard to use as eyeliner. Great product, very cheap and does the job nicely. The sharpener it comes with is no good but that's not a big deal. Have tried more expensive products by Merle Norman and Clinique and always come back to this one. UPDATE: This is a good product, but it has no staying power.

Mascara -Unlisted Brand - OCuSoft Mascara
rated 4 of 5
pupster 4/13/2008 5:32:00 PM

This is the best mascara I have found for very sensitive eyes. Does not clump on application and does not dry up, a tube lasts for ages. It does take a little longer to dry than most but I don't mind that. If you are looking for dramatic long thick lashes, then this is not for you. If you just want a natural look, this is perfect. Lashes stay soft, not crunchy and removes easily at the end of the day. I always end up reordering this one.

Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish Nail Polish (any color)
rated 4 of 5
pupster 4/13/2008 5:23:00 PM

One thing I do not have the time or patience for is my nails/pedis. This is the ONLY nailpolish that actually dries at all (in my experience anyway). This really does, as it says, dries in minutes and for only $3 a bottle, compared to OPI which is now $8.50, what's not to like!
