Mascara -New York Color - Waterproof Mascara
rated 1 of 5

Most of NYC's products are a great value, but this one was just terrible. I think maybe it had expired or something because the wax (what makes it waterproof) appeared to have separated from the rest of the mascara and when I pulled the wand from the tube it looked like I had dipped it in chunky crisco. Groossss! Needless to say I did not put that thing anywhere near my face. This may not be the company's fault, but it definitely stopped me from ever trying their mascara again. Yick.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - Sparkle Eye Dust - Pink Champagne

It's getting discontinued?? I feel like I've seen it recently, though! :( Sad day, because this stuff is fantastic. Great quality for the price! Of all of the colors I think this one is the least saturated, but it is still very pretty. It goes on smoothly and has a pretty shine. Yes, the packaging is just awful, but I'll say this one more time: if you flip the bottle upside down and poke a hole in the plastic base, you can then pry out that disk and put the powder in whatever container you like. It's worth it.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - Sparkle Eye Dust - Smokey Topaz

Just like the other shades, this product is an AMAZING value, it has good texture, good color, and staying power. I love the shimmer this has. The packaging has to be some of the worst in history, so I transfer the powder to a different container after popping the plastic base out of the bottom of their bottle.

Gaw-geous color! And ridiculously cheap, so you've gotta love that. I use this as a lid-color in the winter, and an inner-corner highlighter in the summer when I'm more tan. It has a nice, fine texture and stays on well. My only gripe-- oh my gosh, the packaging SUCKS for this stuff. What were they thinking? My solution: transfer to different little jar. How, you ask? Breaking and entering. That's right. If you break a little hole in the bottom you can then pop out the plastic disk that forms the bottom of the container and transfer to the container of your liking and use a better brush, too. But again... it's so cheap and great it's worth it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Copper (metallic)
rated 1 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 8:07:00 PM

Yikes, looks like I'm the dissenting opinion! I normally am so impressed with MAC products, and especially love the Pigments. But I found that with this particular shade, the metallic bits shed off of my eyelids and made sparkly little crumbs on my cheeks. It did not adhere very well at all. I took it back to the store very sadly, as it is a gorgeous color.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Melon
rated 5 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 8:02:00 PM

MAC makes such cool colors! This is a pretty iridescent melon/peach, verrry shimmery. Maybe not an everyday-wear product, but fun. I bought this a long time ago and the container is still amost full because a little goes a long, long way. The Pigments are a little expensive in my opinion (I'm college student, come on), but they do last forever, so it's like an investment. Just make sure to pick a color that you'll like for a long time!

Lotions/ Creams -Vaseline - Intensive Care Healthy Hand and Nail Lotion
rated 4 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 7:54:00 PM

Well... I was more crazy about this lotion when I first started using it, but that was during the summer and we've had a very cold and drying winter where I live. So it's not working miracles on my hands right now, but I'm not sure anything would. It is a tad greasy, but I only apply lotion at night, generally (which may be why my poor hands are so parched), so that doesn't bother me much. What I am most impressed with is how it works on my elbows! My elbows are usually dry and bumpy, but now whenever I apply this I rub the excess on my elbows and they are looking good... at least as far as elbows go. No more bumps! I've already repurchased this a few times, and this time around I bought the pump for a better value.

Conditioner -Sunsilk - No Major Issues Conditioner with Water Lily and Ginseng
rated 5 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 7:44:00 PM

Just like the shampoo, I love this product. The smell is a nice, clean and light scent. Doesn't weigh hair down at all. But just like the shampoo, too, I haven't seen it for a while and fear discontinuation... :(

Shampoo -Sunsilk - No Major Issues Shampoo with Water Lily and Ginseng
rated 5 of 5

Loves it! This has a great smell and does what a shampoo should-- makes your hair clean! I'm kind of wary of the formulas that claim to make your hair smoother or non-frizzy, because they normally leave some type of residue or weigh hair down. This doesn't! HOWEVER, the last time I bought this it had a clearance sticker and I haven't seen it since... Sunsilk, say it isn't so! Don't take away my No Major Issues!!

Moisturizers -Garnier - Pure Shine Control Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 7:32:00 PM

Interesting product, to say the least. I'm not sure it is sold in the States, but I bought it when I was studying abroad and it came back with me. The first time I used it I was really freaked out that it came out of the tube BLUE, but obviously it doesn't look blue on your skin. I find it kind of heavy, and it smells (and looks) more like a facial mask kind of product than a normal lotion. I will give it credit for definitely being mattifying, but it's so heavy that if you put a little to much on and then rub your face after it dries, it will actually come off in little tiny clumps, as if you had put a mud/clay mask on and then hadn't gotten it washed off all of the way. It also sometimes burns a little during application, but only when my skin is having a very dry day. I repurchased once, but I've got almost that full bottle left and I don't think I would buy it again. I guess that's a non-issue, though, as I haven't seen it in stores here.

Eye Shadow -Jane - radiation in fushia fusion
rated 5 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 7:15:00 PM

I feel like the Jane Radiation shadows are one of those great super-cheap drugstore gems that work as well as anything that will cost you 5x as much. Like everyone has said, this stuff is suuuper pigmented, and I've had my little pot of it for years. It also mixes well with any other powder shadow if you feel the need to tone it down a bit. I would definitely recommend this and any of the other colors!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 7:11:00 PM

Great stuff! I caught a deal on a twin-pack, so I'll be using it for quite a while. I'm ok with that! I think this formula is a little thicker than the regular Lash Exact... which to be honest I think I like a little better. This one just seems to clump a teeny bit whereas the Lash Exact was absolutely perfect. So I'll probably switch back when I finish up these tubes, but it is still a really good mascara.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Exact

My favorite of all time! And to be honest, I'm not even a big fan of CG products. But I love the applicator-- I have naturally dark, full lashes but I still love to pump them up as much as possible. I find that the brushier-brushes (as opposed to this comb-type) create and hold a lot more clumps. This separates the lashes nicely, doesn't flake all day, and is the most clump-free that I've used. Period.

Bronzers -Rimmel - Natural Bronzer - 027 Sun dance
rated 4 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 6:34:00 PM

I like it. I bought this after I could no longer find the brand that I used to use and love (Caboodles-- don't laugh, that stuff was great!). This is the best color match that I have find so far. My only gripe is that the consistency isn't fantastic; it's a little on the hard side. I use a soft brush and I feel like it's a bit difficult to pick up the product. Overall it's a good product for a good price and I would buy it again!

Bronzers -Jane - Shimmering Bronzer - Tahiti
rated 3 of 5
jusch_box 2/28/2008 6:25:00 PM

I have mixed feelings about this product. As a bronzer, it is really terrible. I can't wear something this radiantly shiny/shimmery on my cheeks or forehead. Human disco ball effect there. I started using it as an eyeshadow palette, though, and I am pretty satisfied with it. The colors work pretty well on me and the shimmer is great for that area. Plus, if you're looking at it from that perspective it is a great deal because it's a cheap product in the first place and is huge compared to a normal eye shadow compact!
