Polishes -MAC - Light Affair

This is such a strange color to review because it has so many undertones in it you really can't tell someone what it looks like unless they've seen it in person. I want to call it a grey but that's not right - neither is a cool cream color, an extremely lightened purple or pink. Whatever it is the color is so strange that at a certain point it becomes distracting to see out of the corner of my eyes my nails being such a light shade. The first time I saw it I thought my nails looked almost sickly but I still can't seem to ween myself off of this product. My one complaint is that I wish that MAC had added more pink or purple to this base (maybe even a hint of brown? I don't know) to darken it up a bit shade wise. For anyone looking for a light color for their nails this is definitely the color I'd recommend.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Warm & Cozy Shadestick

Like other people have mentioned I think its surprising to see so many people complaining about this not being a super pigmented product when the entire collection was marketed as being very soft and neutral in color. That being said this is the first shade stick of MACs that I've ever really fallen in love with. I like how subtle the color is - when I contour my eyes this is my go to product because of how nicely it sits on my skin tones and just like the name says it makes my skin and eyes look very warm. It also sits nicely as a base under my mid tone browns making this great for every day wear. I can't imagine why so many people hate what is honestly an incredibly useful and versatile product.

Lipstick -MAC - Midnight Media

This is a wonderfully sexy color. I was so excited to wear it this fall and I got a ton of compliments on my lip color. The texture is a lot more moist that MAC's other matte colors as I've noticed of most formulas that come in the skinny tubes. It has great lasting power which relieved me greatly since I was terrified to walk around with a pink center on my black mouth. But no worries here! I applied it over a regular black liner as my base and it stayed all day.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Glimmerglass in Blackfire
rated 4 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 7:30:00 PM

Gorgeous! Purples are really turning out to be my color. This brings out a lot of cool tones in my skin and makes me look very pale (in a good way). Applied by its self it gives a strange shadowy color to the lips that on me brings out a lot of berry tones. When I put this over another color it gives it a deep purple kick to the color and makes the glitter stand out nicely as well. Lovely product!

Polishes -MAC - Seriously Hip
rated 4 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 7:27:00 PM

I love this polish - I wore it almost all winter on my nails and they always looked gorgeous. The green is an intense forest green that's perfectly highlighted by the bits of gold glitter in the formula. It's very subtle looking too - it's not so dark that you'd mistake it for black but niether is the color so dark and intense that it just screams "hello I've got green nail polish on!" either. Gorgeous!

Polishes -MAC - Baby Goth Girl

I have to use an extra strong top coat with this other wise it starts coming off my nails almost immediately. It's so embarrassing to be dealing with a customer at my job and look down and suddenly realize that a huge part of my polish has come pealing off. I really wish MAC had lightened up the shade on this a bit. On my nails by the time I put on a second coat it looks almost too dark to be a purple color. Which is fine, it's just not what I paid for. I've also found the the more of this stuff I use the more copper bits I find in my polish. I don't know what this could be - maybe they all just have a habit of sinking down into the bottom of the jar?

Eye Shadow -MAC - young punk
rated 3 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 7:13:00 PM

I really love this color but the way the product it's self has been formulated leaves me wanting. Unlike the rest of the shadows in the Style Black collection it has trouble being applied just by it's self. Not that it's bad or has poor color mind you - it just absolutely HAS to have a base with it other wise it does poorly and you don't get enough of the purple color. When applied wet though it takes on a gorgeous jewel toned burgundy color like wine or old velvet. Over all it's a good product, just not as good as the other shadows in the collection. Also, as others have stated for some reason this product has a TON of fall out - more so than other dark shadows I've used. I had to give all my brushes an extra squirt of Fix+ to make sure everything wouldn't end up on my cheek bones. I'm not sure if this problem is also related to the fact that my YP cracked almost immediately. I can understand this if it got dropped or jerked very hard but the thing started to fall apart on me from day one which is incredibly disappointing since these can't be repressed like most eye shadows.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Gilt by Association
rated 5 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 7:10:00 PM

It's really hard for me to find a gold and black eyeshadow that still retains both it's colors equally well on my skin tone. Luckily MAC went ahead and released this and now all my problems are over! Applied dry this is the most intense dark gold I've seen in a long time. I want to say it's like a blacked up version of amber lights but that really doesn't do it justice. What really impressed me most of all with this is that unlike a lot of back mixed with X color shadows the black doesn't completely over power the other color. Instead it adds to it adding tons of depth and demention that the god could never gave on it's own. The best and by far my most favorite way to apply this though is wet - it makes my eyelids look like they've been coated in antique gold. It's fabulous and reminds me a lot of the metallics collection from Illemasqua but at a much more affordable price.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cinderfella Mineralize Eyeshadow
rated 4 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 7:05:00 PM

This eyeshadow is my go to for almost any smokey look. When applied dry it gives off a heavy, charcoal almost smog like black. When I apply it wet though it gives of the most amazing silver color! Almost like my eyes have been covered in antique silver - not a bright, clean color - but an aged, dark mysterious silver that's absolutely stunning to look at. A total must have from this collection.

Lipstick -MAC - Mattene in Kirsch (Cult of Cherry)
rated 5 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:51:00 AM

This color is totally iconic! It's elegant and rich - such a unique, beautiful shade I really think that this could go well with almost any skin color. The formula held up a lot better than I thought it would but still needed to be checked every few hours when I found myself in a position where I was constantly using my mouth (talking excessively or taking sips from a water bottle). This goes great with Night Moth lip liner.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cult of Cherry Spiced Chocolate Quad [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:49:00 AM

*sigh* I wish I had bought Shadowy Lady as my second quad from this collection instead of Spiced Chocolate but I was so in love with the dark brown in this that I couldn't resist. The lighter color in this quad has a lot of copper/red tones in it which I didn't know until I was checking my makeup outside during a lunch break. For some reason the color didn't pick up at all under the lighting in my house and it's not that I mind the undertones - it's just that they were a lot more dramatic than I realized and were totally inappropriate for where I was that day. So be careful when you apply this - you really need a bright light source! The other browns are good but not dazzling. The red color is interesting but not something I would really find myself wearing on a daily basis.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Cult of Cherry Tempting Quad
rated 4 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:44:00 AM

I love using this quad for fall - the combination of the dark browns with the sharp green really make my eyes pop. Out of all the colors I probably use Next to Nothing the most - on my skin its almost a perfect match and it's great for blending out dark shadows for me (although I also use the darker brown a lot for my brows when I want a dramatic effect). My only complaint is that the green is very similar to bitter. Thankfully it has a more intense color payoff so it's still worth having.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lavender Wind Lipglass
rated 5 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:41:00 AM

I'm kicking myself for not buying a ton of these - this gloss is fantastic! If used lightly it goes on with a very faint, shimmery cool undertone but when I build it up on my lips it brings out a ton of flattering rose tones to compliment the lavender. And speaking of bringing out tones this also makes my skin look absolutely fabulous - very cool and pale.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Spring Bean
rated 4 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:35:00 AM

This green gloss goes on a gorgeous honey color once I put it on my lips and adds a fabulous kick when I apply it over super dark lipsticks (such as midnight media or film noir). I love using this on days when it's super hot outside and I can't wear a lot of makeup since it adds a very flattering, complimentary lip to a natural look. Long lasting and not the least bit sticky. I don't know what it is about this formula but for some reason it feels better on my lips than any of the other mac glosses.

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow BlackOut Waterproof
rated 5 of 5
Mondenkind 8/18/2010 6:30:00 AM

I love, love, love this mascara. It makes my lashes look thick and feathery and the back is very intense. But I do have a few complaints! The first being that the brush on this is horrible and after awhile it starts to guck up and requires constant cleaning. Another is that this dries out pretty quickly if you're not careful and god help you if you get ANY of this in your eye on accident. It makes your eyes feel like they're on fire - more so than just the usual makeup sting, it's really intensely painful. Other than that though this is my favorite mascara so far - totally worth the price!
