Toners -Neostrata - Toning Solution Level 2 (10% Glycolic Acid, 2% Salicylic Acid)
Juliasyji 5/4/2010 1:11:00 PM
Edit #2: It was awesome at getting rid of acne/whiteheads and thats exactly why i bought this. I've been using this for about 2 months and the past two months have been the most acne riddled time in my life. I would get a new one every other day. I have a feeling that while getting rid of acne and breakouts, this also broke me out constantly because it made my skin so dry there was no natural oil on my face causing my face to break out. This also had a really high alcohol content so it was making my skin dry and dull. I think it's great for spot treating newly formed acne but i would not be putting this all over my face again. Will not repurchase. Edit: this is probably the best thing I ever tried for acne/whiteheads. I had a nasty whitehead that developed into a super angry red and purple nastiness. I put this on twice a day concentrating on the problem area and woke up to a ripe pimple (totally ready to pop but i didnt touch it), I applied the toner again in the morning and noticed that by the end of the day the pimple was reduced to a pretty much nothing and there was a flaky layer of skin (I was dying to pick it off but i didnt), I came home and washed my face and the flakes just washed away I didnt need to pick at it or remove it at all! Now this monster of a thing has been reduced to a pinkish nothingness. I'm so impressed! BUT! it's drying up my skin like crazy! my face is tight no matter how much mositurizer I cake on my face. My face is also FLAKING like crazy! The dry patches dont look good under make up no matter how much i moisturize and prime :( good for acne but not good for soft smooth skin. I will stop applying all over face and just spot treat from now on! Ok I have been using this for a week now so I might have to come back and edit but so far it's great. I usually have really good skin (no blemish, no acne, and no white heads etc) but lately (since about 3 months ago), I've been getting some serious whiteheads that become really big and painful zits! I think this has to do with my lovely scented but residue leaving oil cleanser from l'occitane. Anyways, I do the cotton pad wet and wipe thing on my face after I wash it and it stings and burns but man my face feels CLEAN after I do that. So far all the whiteheads and pimples on my face are completely dried out and some of the more stubborn ones that were deep are starting to surface. I am probably going to have to deal with some serious purging soon but I am pretty happy with how fast it's bringing my pimples to surface. It's definately speeding up the process for me. 4 lippies for now because I've only been using it for a week, will come back and edit.

Treatments -Vichy - anti-imperfection concentrate
Juliasyji 5/1/2010 12:33:00 PM
I love Vichy products I really do. And I really wanted to like this little tube of green stuff that smells so delightful. Especially since I paid good money for it! I put this on my problem areas and break outs. It's supposed to minimize these blemishes or start up acne but IT JUST DOESNT WORK. I will try the bodyshop tea tree oil. Will never ever purchase again. EVER Gave 2 lippies for amazing scent and mousse like texture. EDIT: was cleaning my bathroom last week and threw this in the GARBAGE.

Misc Beauty Tools -Shu Uemura - Eyelash Curler
Juliasyji 4/28/2010 3:13:00 PM
BEST CURLER EVER. I bought mine for 18 bucks (Cnd). I've tried diff brands for many years but this will probably be my #1 from now on for years to come. The only thing I am having trouble with is, when i curl my lashes after i do my liner and everything, the back of the curler touches/rests right on my lashline and it wipes away alot of my eyeliner. But as far as curling eyelashes go, THE BEST.

Powder -MAC - Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation
Juliasyji 4/26/2010 10:50:00 PM
I have been using this since 10+ years ago. I stray to diff. foundation quiet often but this I always come back to. The coverage is great and the application is easy and flawless. I do have dry/ combo skin so sometimes (esp during winter months) i find that this can be drying on my skin but during humid season it works like magic. The only bad thing is that it's drying on my skin so I have to use this with lots of moisturizer and quench my skin with several sprays of fix +. This is ALWAYS in my collection, ALWAYS. Highly recommended, a must have classic!

Blush -Maybelline - Dream Mousse Blush - All colors [DISCONTINUED]
Juliasyji 4/26/2010 9:30:00 PM
I LOVE how this feels. it's really a mousse! It goes on beautifully but like all other blush that u apply with ur fingers, there's always a danger of rubbing foundation off. Well pigmented and goes on matt. It's a GREAT drugstore blush! I recommend it.

Bronzers -Lancome - Star Bronzer Bronzing Powder
Juliasyji 4/26/2010 1:59:00 PM
This is an ok bronzer. I'm a NC35 and I like this bronzer because it is very natural and does not apply heavily. It's very buildable and natural. What I don't like about this bronzer is the fact that it is very sheer. It's hard to gauge for what my skintone is like since I can't really see what it's done. I'm on the fence about this bronzer. But I reach for this quiet often as it gives me a natural bronzed glow without making me look orange or too tanned.

Blush -MAC - Cubic
Juliasyji 4/26/2010 1:56:00 PM
This is a very nice neutral/ natural pinkish nude blush. The pigment is very nice and shows on your face as heavy/ light as u want it to. It has a matt finish so it's very natural and it's really easy to create that "glow from within" look with this blush. A very nice everyday blush. It goes with everything.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot - Constructivist
Juliasyji 4/24/2010 3:59:00 PM
Edit: I've collected a few cream shadows now and I notice that constructivist doesnt have a great staying power esp in this summer weather (but I always UDPP first). and it also balls up a little while blending. I still love the color, just wish the formula was longer lasting. Taking away 1 lippy! Probably my favourite paintpot. Other paintpots are very light and used more as a base/primer but this is a very nice medium/dark brown that makes brown smoky eyes super easy. It's a shimmery medium/deep drown with hints of purple, red and ash in it. It basically shows on ur skin the way it looks in the pot. Just spread a little on the lid, blend it out with fingertips and you got your brown smoky in seconds! and of course being a paintpot, the color stays on forever. I LOVE this!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shadestick in Beige-ing
Juliasyji 4/22/2010 3:44:00 PM
I don't really use this as shadow as I find applying shadow in a stick form to be pretty ineffective. But I do love this stick for other uses. I use this to highlight the inner corners of my eyes and also to add a pop of tiny shimmer on my waterline. I find that using shadow or loose shadow on my inner corners or to highlight slightly under my eyes gets messy and has no staying power but this stick comes in really handy for those jobs. It's definately a must have :)

Eye Shadow -MAC - Fresco Rose [DISCONTINUED]
Juliasyji 4/22/2010 12:31:00 PM
This is my first paint pot from MAC. I love the idea of having color and primer all in one. Before this I was using urban decay's primer potion in different finishes (sin for shimmery and eden for matt finish - eden looks like soft orchre). Fresco Rose is a nice icey shimmery pink that dries to cool pink with a tiny hint of pastel purple. I'm usually not a big fan of putting warmer colors like pinks, corals and red on my eyelid because they tend to make my eyes look puffy but this is a very nice cool pink so it works for my skintone (NC37). As a primer it's awesome, it has an amazing staying power = well all paintpots do... It's awesome to work together with shadow and blends well with other products. On lazy days, I just dab some on my lids with my fingertips and it's just as great. I'll be purchasing other shades in paintpot!

Highlighters -MAC - Mineralize Skinfinish in Soft and Gentle
Juliasyji 4/22/2010 12:24:00 PM
Great highlighter all around. I went to MAC looking for a bronzer and saw this. This comes in a deeper, bronzier color too but I ended up buying soft and gentle bc this shade can be a lot more versatile. It adds a very nice glow to the face while brightening up the entire complextion. It can work as a multitasker as well: use it as a highlighter, all over finish powder or even as eyeshadow. Overall, a great purchase. It's a bit pricey but you get a lot of this product plus a little goes a long way. ps. MUST USE A LIGHT HAND OTHERWISE U END UP LOOKING REALLY SHINY - not in an oily way but like u have too much highligher on.

Shampoo -Redken - Extreme Shampoo [REFORMULATED]
Juliasyji 4/21/2010 1:56:00 PM
My Favourite Shampoo! I love LOVE LOVe the scent and I love that it does a very good job at cleansing without taking away too much moisture from my hair. It rinses well and lathers very decent too.

Eyes -LORAC - On Screen Duo
Juliasyji 4/21/2010 12:32:00 PM
Meh... the eyeliner is horrible, but the eyeshadow (such a tiny amount) that comes with it is very nice. Smooth and highly pigmented with a beautiful shimmery (not glittery or shiny) finish. The eyeliner is impossible though. I use MAC eyeliner brush but the brush can't even pick up any of this stuff. It's like hard coal. once I manage to pack some of this on my brush, trying to line my eyes is even a bigger ordeal. Skip this product alltogether and stick with MAC fluidline or any other brand (Stila's good too!). I'll throw it away when I use up the eyeshadow.

Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Handy Buki Brush
Juliasyji 4/21/2010 12:27:00 PM
I have this because it came in a kit but just like all other BE brushes, this is also made of terrible quality. It sheds EVERYwhere on my face, I end up runing my make up picking up little pieces of hair that get stuck to my face after I do my foundation. It does give a heavier coverage but it also hurts my face when I buff this onto my face for an even coverage. Anyways, it's a bad bad brush and I use this now only to apply and blend cream blush on my cheeks. I really wouldnt try to use this on my entire face ever again. I washed it a few times and the bristles are not doing too well so it will get thrown out soon.
