Moisturizers -Clarins - Multi Intensive super Restorative Day Cream
rated 2 of 5

I purchased the trial kit of the line from Sephora as my skin is dry based on the reviews from friends and MUA. I realize that the line is designed for 'mature' skin, but I really don't buy products because of labels attached such as in this case. I used all the products twice daily over the course of 2 weeks and noticed no real difference in my skin, except it was slightly better hydrated. I was disappointed that the day cream didn't even contain an SPF, plus the day and night cream came in jars!!! I think jars are just a breeding ground for bacteria, plus exposure to air can quickly erode the quality of the ingredients. I was also not a fan of the perfumey fragrance, it was quite strong and overwhelming. For the price tag attached plus the fact I didn't see anything happen to my skin I wouldn't purchase the full line.

Treatments (Eye) -Caudalie - Grape-Seed Eye Contour Cream

I received a sample from Sephora and I too am glad that it was free. This product is thick, greasy, and NEVER absorbs making it useless for daytime and makeup application. I tried applying it at night and wokeup the next day with a greasy film under my eyes and to make matters worse my eye bags were bigger and bolder then ever. Will never purchase the full size even if my life depended on it. :)

Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Ped Egg

I picked this up at my local d/s and was sooooo excited to use it. After 30 minutes for grating my feet I felt horribly ripped off and my arm hurt from the repetative motion. It didn't do a darn thing of removing any real dry calloused skin from my feet compared to my usual stand-by pumice stone, I actually threw it in the garbage.

Eye Shadow -Quo - Eye Shadow Quad - "Infatuation"
rated 1 of 5

I loved my 'vintage' quad so much that I picked this one up after wards. Super disappointed as the pigmentation lacks big time. Even with all my attempts to wear different eyelid primers I couldn't get the colour payoff I wanted and the texture I found to be gritty?? Not worth the money.

This is a fantastic quad of e/s for my complexion. The colours are a mixture of browns and pinks. They can be used seperately or blended together to create a soft day look perfect for my complexion and green eye colour. They are decently pigmented and stay all day with a good eyelid primer.

Another great product from MAC. The colour is sheer, but noticeable on the lips. Super moisturizing and has SPF.

Styling Products -Aveda - Pure-Fume Brilliant Emolliant Finishing Gloss
rated 3 of 5
lygophilia 3/30/2009 5:59:00 AM

I received this stuff from a friend who LOVES Aveda everything, thank goodness cause it is ridiculously expensive. I use it after I have styles my hair, usually 2 to 3 sprays all over. It does a nice job of giving my hair a shiny apperance with a just stepped out of an Aveda salon & spa smell. I have used way less expensive shining serums that deliver the same finish (minus that distinctive smell).

Styling Products -Garnier - Reworkable Paste
rated 1 of 5

Not a great product for very short & straight hair at all. It applied greasy, but left my hair feeling dry after an hour, plus didn't give my style any shape. I passed this off to a friend with medium length curly hair and she loves it. Go figure?

Styling Products -Garnier - Fructis Ultra-Strong Spiking Gel
rated 1 of 5

The only thing this product spiked was my frustration of no hold. It doesn't do anything, I have gotten better styles from tap water. Waste of money.

Styling Products -Garnier - Surf Hair Texture Paste

I have very short hair cut into a pixie (that I'm trying to grow out, but that is a whole different story), and I'm always on the hunt for new product that i can play up my hair with into fauxhawks & j-rock styles and this stuff sucks!!!! It is greasy, has no hold after minutes, and leaves great big flacks of goo in your hair. After minutes of styling my hair it fell flat... all two inches of it. lol. Gross product, but I do like the website that gives instructions on how to style hair, helpful site, but not with this product.

Shampoo -Thermasilk - Heat Activated Shampoo for Color Treated Hair
rated 4 of 5
lygophilia 3/30/2009 5:42:00 AM

I love this product, it leaves my hair clean and shiny. It is a little drying alone so I always use the conditioner. Both the shampoo & conditioner do a great job at protecting my hair from damage from daily styling. I'm in the process of growing out a pixie cut so I have to do my hair daily which requires washing and products. This line removes the products (gel, mousse, wax, hairspray, texturizing paste etc... no I don't use them all in one day, but I try to find new styles to keep me on track of growing out the pixie without losing my mind, lol) Anyways if you are like me have colour treated hair, use products like no one's business, have to wash your hair daily, and style with heat... then check these products out.

Brows -Unlisted Brand - castor oil
rated 1 of 5
lygophilia 3/30/2009 5:33:00 AM

I have learned a lot being on MUA and have even picked up some advice and suggestions for not so ordinary beauty products such as baby wipes (I love them still to this day). When I read the reviews for castor oil I thought why not?? It's very cheap and readily available in all d/s so I purchased a bottle and tried it. I gently applied it with a q-tip to my lashes and eyebrows before bed. It smells horrible, is thick and messy, and it has left the skin around my eyes & brows red and scaly (especially in my brows....yuck) I didn't have a bad reaction till the third night when I awoken from a deep slumber feeling like my face caught fire!! I have been castor oil free for 2 days now and my eye region continues to hurt, but is starting to heal. I can't leave my house and I can't wear any makeup as I have been slabbing on cream gently. There has been no new growth in either my eyelash or brow region. Sadly if anything I have lost eyelashes (a few have fallen out) and my weird bald patch on my right eyebrow appears worse. I can't recommend this product, but would suggest people try a spot test (like hair dye) to see if they have a reaction before applying it to a delicate and vital area on the body. I have NEVER had a seriously reaction like this before to my skin on any product, so was very surprised to have this happen. Use with caution.

Liquid -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 15 Normal/Dry Skin
rated 5 of 5
lygophilia 3/23/2009 7:53:00 PM

I have heard such good things about this d/s foundation that I thought I would break-free from my MAC foundation comfort zone. I purchased the colour 110 Ivory (I wear MAC NC15, Covergirl Classic Ivory & L'oreal N1) and it looked too pink on my skin. The foundation blends well, doesn't have any weird/strong odours, contains decent SPF of BOTH UVA & UVB, stays put all day, didn't settle into fine lines, didn't cake or crease, didn't fade, provided medium coverage, and was 1/2 the price of my MAC. The bad was the pink tinge and I swear it got pinker as the day progressed! I went and bought the next shade buff which is better as there is no strong pink tones and has a slight yellow beige base which evens out the redness in my skin. Update: I have repurchased this numerous times since my original review in both ivory and buff. I mix equal parts of both of them and it's a better match to my complexion then either one alone. It's a staple in my foundation collection and I do reach for it often. I find when I purchase a new foundation and it lacks a specific undertone, lacks the coverage I want or isn't long wearing enough I will often mix some Revlon Colorstay with the particular foundation to meet my requirements. I love this foundation and highly recommend it.

Treatments -Philosophy - Resurface Kit - The Microdelivery In-Home Vitamin C Peptide Peel
rated 4 of 5
lygophilia 3/23/2009 7:42:00 PM

I received a sample of this product and I think it is the bomb!! I already have ordered it from Sephora. I loved the citrus scent and how smooth & soft my skin feels after wards. I can't believe all my dry patches of skin are gone from one use!!! I followed the directions to a T and used a good quality skin cream after wards to ensure hydration. I recommend if you can get a sample first (it's a little on the expensive side for the full product) you will be impressed.

Lotions/ Creams -RoC - RoC Dermatologic Enydrial Hands
rated 5 of 5
lygophilia 3/22/2009 11:36:00 AM

My HG hand cream for sure!! I'm constantly washing my hands plus the dry/cold weather equals bad news, but this stuff is a miracle in a tube. lol. Seriously it moisturizes like a dream, a little product goes along way, has little fragrance, and a beautiful texture/consistency. The best hand cream I have ever used!!
