Lipstick -NARS - Schiap
rated 5 of 5

This is an absolutely fantastic lipstick!! I usually don't bother with lipstick, and when I do it's more often than not a neutral or sheer color (think Kevyn Aucoin's Tatjanaberry or Estee Lauder's Crystal Baby). However, the second I saw the new NARS display at a local boutique, I was drawn to the boldness of Schiap. It is an amazingly wearable shade that makes my blue eyes pop and instantly brings up the level of sexiness and fun in any look. If you're looking for something to shake up your typical makeup routine, look no further than Schiap!

Fragrances -Philosophy - The Tea Party
rated 4 of 5

I got this on a whim at Nordstrom after seeing that the price of the set had dropped from $50-something to $35. For three 1-ounce fragrances, it's a pretty good deal. These scents reminds me of Demeter--one-note and very true to the name, though unlike Demeter the lasting power is great. I love blending these for a truly unique scent. Great for those who enjoy clean, crisp, familiar scents.

Lip Treatments -Too Faced - Lip Injection

I don't know what everyone's talking about. If I concentrate very hard on my lips, I can feel a slight tingle, but I've never experienced anything close to burning with this product. I have fairly full lips, but of course have purchased City Lips, Lip Venom, Plump My Pucker, Big Mouth, etc, etc. and IMO Lip Injection is the best. It seems to have the same properties as many of the other glosses, but because it's sooooo thick, it makes any lines in lips virtually impossible to see. Drawbacks: this gloss is very sticky, and when you get near the end of the tube, it's a pain to get out. Nothing miraculous, but it gives lips a temporary boost.

Lip Gloss -DuWop - Venom Gloss
rated 4 of 5
Kayelle 6/7/2005 4:20:00 PM

I've been using Lip Venom since it first came out about four years ago. I greatly prefer the glosses to the small glass vial of the ordinary Venom which I still adore. Venom Gloss is absolutely massive compared to the original, and the colors are beautiful and very wearable. In addition, I rather enjoy the tingling sensation (along with most guys I've dated) and the Venom Gloss seems to have a stronger bite. As far as plumping goes, lips do get noticeably fuller (waaaay more than City Lips' non-existant effect) but don't expect miracles. If you can take it, Venom Gloss is a wonderful purchase.

Eye Primer -BeneFit Cosmetics - F.Y. Eye [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

I really dig this stuff. I have pretty oily lids, and massive creasing is always a problem. I was skeptical about this product at first, but with it my eyeshadow stands a chance of lasting through the day. Also for such a small size the jar lasts a very long time.

Lip Gloss -Tarte - Romeo and Juliet
rated 5 of 5
Kayelle 5/26/2005 12:09:00 AM

This is gorgeous lip gloss. The colors are beautiful either separately or layered. I like to use the popsicle-red color over my entire mouth and dab a bit of the shimmery champagne color in the center of my lips. These glosses are not sticky and each side has a different delicate, incredible scent. Love it!

Liquid -La Mer - Liquid Foundation
rated 5 of 5
Kayelle 5/19/2005 8:57:00 PM

I have combination acne-prone skin, so usually I don't go for liquid foundation. However, La Mer's is exceptional. The color I have, dune neutrale, is a bit darker than my skin tone, but the moment I put it on it warms up my complexion and looks absolutely beautiful. This foundation is neither chalky nor oily, and is the only product I have found that actually makes my skin look dewy. In addition, La Mer's fluid foundation leaves skin soft and supple. Expensive, yes, but in my opinion completely worth it.

Bronzers -Urban Decay - Baked Bronzer
rated 4 of 5
Kayelle 5/19/2005 8:44:00 PM

I bought this bronzer several years ago, and it is one of few products I bring out regularly. The packaging is cute, it smells fantastic, and it lasts FOREVER. There are better bronzers out there (both Stephane Marais and Tarte's are incredible) but Baked still produces a very nice, natural-looking sunkissed complexion.

Sunscreen -Shiseido - Sun Block Stick Spf 35- tinted
rated 5 of 5

Wow I love this stuff! I have loads of foundation--everything from La Mer to BeneFit to Prescriptives to, well, the list goes on as you can imagine--and this matches better than anything. This is kind of weird considering that when I got it, there was just the one color (now beige, I believe?), but before I even blend it, it matches perfectly. The consistency is nice and I love the SPF. Another winner from Shiseido.

Lip Treatments -Unlisted Brand - City Lips Collagen Lip Plumping Treatment
rated 1 of 5
Kayelle 4/2/2005 12:40:00 AM

This is the worst plumper I've tried, and that includes Lip Venom, Lip Injection, Big Mouth, Plump Your Pucker and LipFusion. I used this diligently each day and night for at least 6 weeks--I mean, nothing else even TOUCHED my lips--and nothing. I wanted to like this so much that I purchased two full-size glosses (Monte Cosmo and Barecelona) as well as the mini set, so I know that I didn't get a bad batch. I noticed no tingle at any point while using this stuff, and certainly ZERO change in size. If this were just marketed as a gloss, I'd probably give it about three lipsticks because it's not sticky, doesn't have an offensive smell and, while I hate all of the colors, aren't pigmented enough to really show up. The tubes contain as much as a glass vial of Lip Venom, but are deceptively shaped so you look like you're getting a lot more. It is also hard to tell how much you have left, and is hard to pick up when you are nearing the end of a tube. Oh, and just to confirm my lack of results, I gave this a second try, but this time used City Lips on one side of my mouth and used Tarte's dual-ended gloss on the other side. At the end of a month, guess what? The left and right sides of my mouth were EXACTLY THE SAME. Instead of buying this crap, get a tube of LipFusion. You can actually see results with that, and there is much more product for only $6 more.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - EyeCon
rated 2 of 5
Kayelle 4/2/2005 12:24:00 AM

I love BeneFit, and was greatly disappointed by Eyecon. I am 18 years old and have slight dark circles under my eyes that other reviews had led me to believe could be lessened with this product. The first night I used this, I woke up to find that under my eyes had puffed up quite a bit. This has happened with a couple other eye creams I've used and went away about a half hour after I washed the remaining product off. However, what I hated most about this was that it seemed to dry out my whole eye area; again, I'm 18 so my skin is still very smooth, but this created fine lines under my eyes that lasted for several days. I have kept using this product because I like to make sure something won't work for me before I abandon it, and both the puffiness and lines have stopped, but it's been over a month and I've noticed no improvement in the brightness of my circles. Will update if I see any results worth reporting, but this is highly doubtful.

Lip Gloss -Tony & Tina - Aura Lights lipgloss
rated 4 of 5
Kayelle 4/2/2005 12:12:00 AM

I can't believe the negative reviews for this stuff. Maybe it's that the color I have (Relativity, described by Sephora as a "holographic fuchsia") is different from what everyone else has, but I completely love this gloss. It isn't supposed to be a plumper, but rather gives the very noticable illusion of fuller lips. To get a holographic look, you need to put on a fairly thick coat; otherwise it does look like a normal gloss. If I don't feel like twisting this a bunch of times (one aspect I don't like is the Stila Lip Glaze-esque packaging) then a dab in the center of my lips looks amazing. This gloss really makes your lips stand out and sort of glow. Aura Lights isn't sticky at all like Stila's is, and before Lip Glaze was revamped to double in product and drop in price, Tony & Tina gave you more for less money. Overall Aura Lights is an exceptional gloss if you know how to use it and want to draw a bit more attention to your lips.

Highlighters -BeneFit Cosmetics - Moon Beam
rated 4 of 5
Kayelle 3/28/2005 3:05:00 PM

I don't use this all over my face because I have larger pores and combination skin so it has a tendency to settle into pores and cause an oily look. That having been said, this looks fantastic when rubbed directly under the arch of my brows. It opens up my entire eye area and produces a subtle spotlight effect. The color is a gorgeous peachy gold and the bottle, while semi-messy, has a nice applicator and will last forever!
