Not sure how readily available this is, but I reach for it every fall/winter, despite my variety of products. I have a large bottle and it seems to last forever. I have no idea how old my bottle is, but it stands out as my husbands favorite on me. Today I used BS Satsuma shower gel with this on top so the result ended up sweeter and more fruity than usual. A step above the Vanilla Fields I finished up back in the 90's, but less harsh and intrusive. My first bottle of Vanilla Fields was pure heaven, but nothing else has compared, since the lots were all different. This is the closest I have found.

I tried the sample. I'd describe it as "interesting", but also "distracting". I cannoy wear this due to it's elephantine strength.

Mascara -Revlon - Revlon Grow Luscious Mascara
rated 3 of 5

Pros: Left my lashes soft, not stiff and the color is rich. CONS: this mascara seems "wet", took all the curl out of my lashes. and made it look like I have about 3 lashes on my eye that needs more coverage in terms of adding bulk to my lashes. Adding more coats did NOT help. I have yet to see if this will irritate or flake off. I wrote this immediately after application.UPDATE : After about a week, the formula dried such that but it is no longer watery, and gives a false lash look with 3 coats. Now that my lashes have grown, this is covering better and looking lusher, but my lashes have a spidery look you will either love or hate. I am upping this to a 3, since it has worked very well in conjunction with my physicians formula serum eye liner. I am looking for other growth mascaras, but in the meantime, this well do.

Gels/Soaps -The Body Shop - Satsuma Shower Gel

I have tons of gels, and I finally rotated back this past summer. Bright and fun, and I detected some scent mid day still. I did not find this drying. I will leave some for next summer. It seems to be a classic I can always go back to!

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo 6 Piece Brush Set
rated 5 of 5

Hands down the best small set of brushes I could have bought for the price or otherwise. I keep it at work for touchups. Frankly the blush brush applies product more smoothly than my the real-hair brushes in my arsenal. The case does get a but dirty from product dusting off of it, but it does pack well and is so much nicer then the cheap fake plastic bags/cases that crack, cloud, and get even dirtier. You can just wash the thing.

Mascara -Christian Dior - Diorshow Mascara

I would totally do travel sizes of this since you could toss quickly then move onto the next tube.. However, the regular size tube looked great and false-lashy on me for about a week, then starting drying, clumping and flaking. It also irritated my eyes such that I wold end up picking at them and losing lashes. To be fair, I have very sensitive eyes and try to use oil on them at night to reduce this tendency but this mascara was the most irritating I have tried due to the flaking, lashes sticking together and possibly the fragrance.

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Spark it Up Eyeliner in Tigers Eye
rated 4 of 5

the color is perfect if you have green eyes. It is a bit more interesting than black or brown without being glittery. I actually bought it in hopes that it would be glittery. However, this is now my go to everyday liner and has replaced brown and black for me. I can even us it to fill on my brows a bit and it looks more natural and less harsh than any of the browns I have, which usually look way too red or stark. I do not use this on my waterline so I cannot speak for that. One lippie off for lack of staying power when I rub my eyes.

Lip Gloss -NARS - Supervixen

yes....color is good, makes my lips look full. Takes 10 years off my face instantly. I tried this and will buy after I take inventory of my glosses. Update: I bought this last year and was super exited by the color. Now it smells bad tho...I thought I lucked out. With NARS lipgloss, you have to buy the product when it is fresh then use it all without taking a break. I took a chance, and I will use this up butireally am unsure if I will buy again.

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Corn Huskers Lotion
rated 5 of 5

A gel that dries matte, and has light, pleasant but not overwhelming fragrance. This is unique in that I can put a layer on my feet, let it dry, then walk greaseless in my shoes for the rest of the day. Also it is a great no-brainer hand lotion when I do not want slippery hands or a heavy fragrance. There is nothing else like this out there, especially for the price!!!! (The closest thing I can think of are the baby oil gels, which are much greasier and cost more as well. If you really want sheen, those are worth a try as well. I think they are both J &J products.)

Concealers -BeneFit Cosmetics - Boi-ing
rated 5 of 5
greenreed 4/19/2009 1:51:00 PM

It is less convenient for me to use brushes and pots, but for hygine purposes, that is probably the best choice. I got this as a replacement for my thick Lancome pot concealor, (which I still also love). I also got some Erase Paste because the skin under my eyes was becoming a bit dry, and I wanted an alternative to thicker concealors. As an experiment, I used Erase Paste on blemishes AND on my under eye circles, then applied Boi-ing in top of the Erase Paste under my eyes. Together, these 2 products, even in sun, look like I am wearing NO MAKEUP, so get a 5 for color match and texture. For wear, this combination is decent without being drying, but there is some settling into my wrinkles over the day, but I do not mind that because I just patted it back into place. That said, Boi-ng has more staying power when applied on it's own, and does not settle into wrinkles as much. So Boi-ing is great for coverage and wear. Erase Paste is great for coverage and blendability/moisture, and though it understandably may not wear as long as Boi-ing will, it does not become a smeary, greasy mess on your face. These are both good products that I can combine OR use separately as the needs of my skin require without looking overly made up. For reference, I used the lightest Erase Paste, and the Medium shade of Boi-ing. That way I could use the Erase paste on my circles to brighten and on facial blems.

Mascara -BeneFit Cosmetics - BADgal Plum
rated 5 of 5
greenreed 4/19/2009 1:19:00 PM

Lots of purple mascaras have a cool tone to them, (such as one by Jane which I LOVE, but can I only wear when I have on bluish purple clothes). The Benefit Plum is more of a subtler warmer "stealth" purple, more neutral with my yellow/olive complexion and dark hair. I can wear the Plum with brown clothes, coppers, and the lighter neutrals I drag out for summer. For color this is a 5. I have long but sparse lashes. This makes them look naturaly long and more polished without being too heavy and cakey. I do not like thick goopy mascaras, because they tend to leave blobs on the end of my lashes, so the the "drier" consistency of this is not a problem for me.

Polishes -OPI - Play 'til Midnight
rated 4 of 5
greenreed 2/6/2009 10:52:00 PM

I preferred this over Russian Navy, Ink, and over some other blues that looked garish or too sparkly to wear to work. This is a navy tone but it has a jelly-like glow to it, making it shinier and more "Ink-like" than Ink actually turned out to be. A nice surprise!

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Parlux - Jessica Simpson Fancy

I thought "JP Classique mixed with vanilla and powder". Apparently I am not the only one when I read the reviews below! This is nice tho if you need something of that ilk. UPDATE : I need up buying a big bottle of this. Goes well with my cheap queen Helene mango coconut lotion. That is not a slam, by they way. The combination got me a compliment from my hubby. He also likes Burberry classic and SJP Covet for reference. Somehow I put this on and I am finding a soft snuggly quality I missed upon first sniff. Its true it does not last very long, so I took a lip off, but the process of reapplying is so pleasant with the pretty bottle, I reall cannot complain.

Fragrances -Carol's Daughter - Pearls
rated 5 of 5
greenreed 1/25/2009 1:11:00 PM

With all the fuss over the "Clean" fragrances, I can't believe there is not more fuss over this. This has the confort of fabric softener with more fruityness. It is fresh but has excellent staying power. Check this out if you like the comfort things.

Lotions/ Creams -Sephora - Coconut Cream Body Butter
rated 5 of 5
greenreed 1/19/2009 4:26:00 PM

Rich and creamy. I got it for free, so I really can't comment on the price. But boy does it ever smell good! Thing is, if you want to layer other things with it, the scent might be too strong. I, fairness I used a lot of this at once because I do not have to work today and it is winter and my skin was begging to be pampered! I used 7 generous dollups: 1 for each calf, 1 for each upper leg, 1 for my torso and 1 for each arm. So I guess that is 7 doppups total, making me smell like a Mounds bar. Yum!
