Moisturizers -Cetaphil - Daily Facial Moisturizer SPF15

I have been using this product for about 4 years now. It's the best moisturizer I've used. All other moisturizers either make me break out or make my face really dry and peeling. It was recommended by my physician 4 years ago when I was suffering from really dry peeling skin and every other moisturizer I used made me break out. Now, everytime I try another moisturizer, I always tend to crawl right back to this one because nothing else gives me the same amount of moisture for my face. I do have sensitive skin, by the way. It did sting a bit at first, but so does toner. As long as you can stand the stinging and it doesnt break you out, it should be good.

Liquid -MAC - Hyper Real SPF 15 Foundation [DISCONTINUED]
apk2 7/17/2007 11:42:00 PM
When I first went to the MAC counter, I had just recovered from a skin infection. As a result of that infection, I had to throw away most of my makeup and buy new ones. I wanted something that would make my skin look beautiful again. I acquired some help from one of the SA's at the MAC counter to help me pick out a foundation that would give me a nice dewy glow (yes, I'm a fan of the J-Lo movie star glow). The SA recommended this foundation for me and right when I saw it, I knew I had to have it. I started using it on a regular basis and loved how good it made my skin look. However, this didn't last long because I soon began to get breakouts everywhere on my face. At first I thought it was due to lack of sleep, so I decided to try to start sleeping regularly. This didn't help, so I did everything I possibly could to make the acne go away, refusing to believe that the MAC foundation was the cause of it all. After 2 months of trying hard to correct my lifestyle for my face (which required sleeping regularly, eating regularly, not eating junk foods, using masks, changing pillow cases every day, etc...) I finally decided to give up my MAC foundation. This was the most breakouts I had ever had in my entire life (even worse than highschool), and I decided no foundation was worth ruining my skin for. The foundation actually made it look worse because I had so many zits under it and you could see the bumps under my MU. I finally discovered MMU and started to use EM and soon after, my zits disappeared, leaving me to conclude that this foundation was what caused me to break out so much. I wouldn't consider my skin as acne-prone because I never got so much acne before, but this foundation totally broke me out like mad. I wouldn't use it ever again! In fact, I have given up all chemical MU and am now using all MMU.

Cleansers -Clinique - Foaming Mousse Cleanser
apk2 7/17/2007 11:27:00 PM
I really like this cleanser, because it does just the right amount of cleaning for me, since I don't wear heavy foundation. I use a MU-Removing lotion before I cleanse so the effectiveness of the cleanser is not really a problem for me. I like how it is very light and foamy, but unfortunately, foamy + pump = alcohol. And because of the alcohol, it is likely to irritate sensitive skin. A good cleanser to switch to, but I wouldn't suggest prolonged use of it.

I love the smell of this perfume! It is by far my favourite perfume in the world. Sometimes, when I'm at home and have nothing to do I just put some on and sniff it because it smells so good. It truly is my guilty pleasure =P.

Masks -Unlisted Brand - Aspirin Mask
apk2 7/17/2007 10:50:00 PM
This is a great mask for those who have mild to medium acne. Acetysalicylic Acid (ASA) helps lower the pH level on your skin and create an unliveable environment for bacteria, therefore decreasing chances of inflamation (which you see as your zit). Since Aspirin has a grainy texture, it also gives you a chance to use it as an exfoliant to remove dead skin from the surface and polish it up. The first time I tried this mask, I took 4 aspirin tablets (uncoated), put it on a dish, and sprinkled water on them. I bought the aspirin in the "Exact" brand from Superstore cause we (Canada) dont' have a Target/Walgreens. The aspirin took FOREVER to dissolve. I waited there fore a good half an hour waiting for the entire thing to dissolve. Some dissolved faster than others, but in whole, I waited about 30 minutes. I then drizzled a bit of honey on top, mixed it together, and applied it to my face. I waited 10 minutes, as I read on a website and washed it off. It made my skin feel very smooth, but it did nothing for my pimples. I think my expectations for it were too high after hearing about the rave reviews that described it like a miracle mask. I woke up the next day with dry, peeling skin and decided to stop using it. Two weeks later, I decided to try it again, being the persistant person I am. I felt that something must have gone wrong during my first trial if so many people had described this as the miracle mask. So this time, I did the same thing but left it on for 30 minutes. I washed it off and put on toner and EXTRA moisturizer (so I wouldn't peel again). After this, I noticed my skin was glowing, polished, and soft like the first time. I woke up the next morning and ALL my zits had shrunk! They didn't disappear, but I could definately see the difference. Perhaps I didn't leave it on long enough for the first time. But now I use it every few days to keep my skin looking beautiful. I recommend for people with dry skin to apply more moisturizer after using this mask because the acid can really dry it out. Also, do not expect miracles to happen with this mask because it will just make you disappointed. This mask is good for shortening the period of time a zit goes away but does not completely wipe it out in a day. It will reduce swelling and the honey will work to reduce the appearance of scars. I also read in a medical journal that aspirin, applied on the face, can also prevent skin cancer. All in all, this is a good mask that I will keep using. It is affordable and way more affective than toothpaste and other acne creams that contain benzoyl peroxide that I have used.

Samples -Everyday Minerals - Free Sample Makeup Kit [DISCONTINUED/REPLACED]
apk2 7/17/2007 10:18:00 PM
First of all, I must say, I'm a HUGE fan of EM. I discovered their products on a forum when I had severe breakouts from using MAC HyperReal Foundation. Needless to say, I was desperate for something that was guaranteed to be good for my face. I then ventured into the MMU hype and was HOOKED! I'm a Health Science Major at my University and have a strong passion for things that are good for the body and the environment, so naturally, this was a big hit for me. I decided to order this sample kit as my first trial. The shipping was a bit slow for me, as it took a little more than 2 weeks for the samples to arrive. I recieved 3 different foundations, 1 blush, and 1 concealer. None of the foundations matched my skin tone, but I have experience with unmatching foundations so I mixed them together and, VOILA! Perfect shade =). The blush was the only thing I was a bit disappointed about because I chose "Girl's Day" which I thought would be a natural pink with a slight gold sheen. It turned out to be BRICK RED with dramatic golden sparkles. But, since MMU are so versatile, I tried to play around with it and it became a really nice shade of eye shadow if I mixed it with a rose gold shade. After playing with this makeup for about 1.5 weeks now, I am completely sold and just ordered my first kit 2 days ago. I ordered the "I Can't Believe It" kit. I really "can't believe it"! It comes with so much stuff that would normally cost you way more if you bought them separately. I might also add that, the price for EM is UNBEATABLE. If you try looking for other MMU brands, they either are priced too high or are lacking in terms of quality. Take it from me, and try it! All my breakouts are gone now and you REALLY have nothign to lose (except for $5).
