Loose Powders -Laura Mercier - Secret Brightening Powder
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 10/18/2010 8:56:00 AM

SUPERB! This brightening powder erases the darkness around the eyes, stays smooth, doesn't disappear during the day, never settles into the creases, and sets concealer. I apply this after foundation, then this product, then blush, then finishing powder. Although other posters use this as an eyeshadow colour, I have not done this yet. I would definitely re-purchase and this this smaller "pot" will last for some time.

Eye Shadow -Laura Mercier - Buttercream Eye Shadow
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 10/18/2010 8:47:00 AM

Mercier's Buttercream is an absolute necessity to create a neutral look, by enhancing your NATURAL color. 1. It's like a beautiful creamy, bone color, 2. goes on silky smooth, 3 stays put on lids that had been primed with Urban Decay Primer Potion. 4. never settles in the tiny creases on mature skin 5. JUST CAN'T BEAT IT I'm a Laura Mercier advocate (except for lippies), and graduated from mineral eye colour (which is still my top eye shadow) to this colour in an eye colour case!

Treatments (Eye) -Origins - GinZing
rated 4 of 5

Sitting on the fence, with this eye creme, because it's only been applied for a few days in the am. It seems to brighten the area, and feels very emollient. Not really convinced that it erases lines, or lightens dark circles as of yet. However, you do need to apply this in the am after cleansing your face, and allow it to absorb. Otherwise, when you apply foundation, it seems to ball up. Consequently, puzzled on this one for its effectiveness.

Powders -Laura Mercier - Mineral Finishing Powder
rated 5 of 5

WOW! I haven been very pleased with the powder products by Laura Mercier and this one is going to be a regular in my stash. The translucent powder, which I have been very happy with, is now replaced with this product. Mercier's translucent is finely grained and wonderful, but this mineral finishing powder is even finer and offers a beautiful flawless appearance! To feel it, it resembles a fine silk! It's a keeper!

Eyeliner -Bobbi Brown - Long Wear Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 10/18/2010 8:02:00 AM

I've been spoiled by Blacktrack by Mac and needed a replacement and ventured into Bobbi Brown Black Ink gel eyeliner. It's a quality product, but still favor Mac. It seems that the black intensity isn't as strong. Staying power is all day. Smearing and traveling down wise or whatever, isn't in the vocabulary of this product!

Lip Gloss -Origins - Sheer grape
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 10/18/2010 7:51:00 AM

Origins offered me a freebie in the form of this lip gloss in Sheer Grape. It has an outstanding peppermint taste and even makes my lips look larger than normal! This violet-pinky color is wonderful on its own as well as over some of my Dior's lippies. However if you were to apply this over lipstick, you have to tap it on, because its consistency is heavier than comparable glosses like Mac's, etc. The sample given to me looks like a full size gloss! Happy camper after leaving with my sample!

Other -Unlisted Brand - Banana Nut Bread - tart
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 9/27/2010 9:40:00 AM

Pink Flower Scents is my 2nd foray into the world of simmering tarts, and it's paying off. This lovely company has just a mind boggling array of scents for tarts. Supposedly, healthy scents, at that! Banana Nut Bread was one freebie of 4, included in my order and I was astonished at the generosity of this merchant. This tart simmered with the loveliest, truest, fragrance of banana bread, that reached into my 2nd story bedrooms! Sometimes, there's a sickening sweet scent that exudes from tarts, but this one doesn't have any of that! Even when the simmering pot is turned off, the fragrance lingers lightly in all the rooms! It beats the Yankee tarts, that only throw off a strong fragrance for 4 or 5 hours. If this is any indication of the performance of others, then I shall repeatedly order from them. P.S. I made a mistake on placing "unlisted brand" under brand when it should be "Pink Flower Scents." If anyone knows how to edit those areas, let me know!

Lipstick -Christian Dior - spotlight violet
rated 4 of 5
sweetgardenangel 9/20/2010 8:24:00 AM

Christian Dior's new Fall line with the addition of more Addict lipsticks were tempting! I splurged on Spotlight Violet #983 because this was more on the vibrant magenta side. It looks lovely for a strong pinky rose. However, staying true to color failed the test, but is still attractive. It seems the violet tones disappear after breakfast and coffee. It deserves an overall rating of 4 because of the lack of integrity on the color. I'll have to explore others in the violet tones. Nonetheless, it still has the creamy texture, and a slight degree of gloss, all components of a quality lippie.

Styling Products -Unlisted Brand - HerCut Styling Catalyst - The Bob

OMG, I've passed displays of this stuff umteen times and read the ads in magazines. Lo and behold, Sephora's free sample gave my hair unbelieveable volume, not that much shine but you can add a shine product, and stayability! I will definitely buy the product for regular daily use. My Sebastian Voluptspray and Bumble Thickening Spray will be alternates so my hair doesn't get used to one product! What's astounding, is, even driving with the windows down, with a few finger motions of getting it back into place, you still have a piecy volume look. Another thing, no frizz. Before I step away from the bathroom from styling, I lift up just a few sections and spray Sebastian Shaper, and leave it there a few minutes, then finger comb it down and you are good to go.

Styling Products -Kenra - Platinum Finishing Hairspray 26
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 6/2/2010 3:23:00 PM

Without a doubt, hands-down, this is thee best, superb, fantastic finishing spray on the market! Never knew Kenra's capabilities until my Stylist began to introduce me to just a light spraying of this beauty! Pros: ~~Can be utilized as a working spray, by grabbing a piece of hair and targeting it to the roots for some uplifting (rather, awesome uplifting!) This pumps that volume into your hair big-time! ~~Not ticky tacky, but control the spray to the minimum because that's all you really need! ~~Superior lasting power, even in Michigan's humidity from the Great Lakes! I mean superior... ~~With-stands telephone use and doesn't smash down your tresses. ~~You can even brush your hair and it still contains volume and never flattens down. Cons: Extra shampooing may be necessary but I don't mind; I just shampoo twice when I overdo the spraying! I will definitely explore other Kenra products. If they're anything like this product, they really are the BEST!

Lipstick -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Lipcolor in Pink Lust
rated 4 of 5
sweetgardenangel 6/2/2010 3:07:00 PM

Dior's Pink Lust in the Addict line is a nice medium pink color, with buildable coverage, from sheer to solid. Perhaps I want more pop from pink, walking toward the fuschia side...but it's fine....just not my favorite! I like Sweetie (for pink) from Mac much better!

Styling Products -Sebastian - Volupt Spray Gel
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 6/2/2010 9:03:00 AM

Sebasian's new cutting edge volumizer product is my HG! It's called Volupt Spray Gel. It was reviewed by Allure and Instyle Magazine in the June editions and given high five praises. So the product went onto my all-time Wish List. (I already use Sebastian's Shaper Spray and the Plus spray and swear by it.) Anyhoooo, there were only 2 left at Ulta so I thankfully bought it and tried it for the last 2 days. Unbelievable stuff! It runs around $19. The directions require you to shake it up thoroughly since they describe it as a 2 phase product. It's not a particularly large bottle, but rather short. But that's ok as long as you achieve the look you desire with minimum of hard work. Pros: ~~ Increases volume in fine hair into a wonderful thick THICK MANE! ~~When styling with blower, it smoothes hair, and eliminates frizzies. ~~Easy to style, not sticky, doesn't grab round brush and interrupt the styling process ~~Almost eliminates the need for finishing spray! It's that good! ~~If you thought Bumble and Bumble was good, (I did and swore by it!) you have another thing coming! ~~And if you like that natural surf look with waves and thickness, you can create that look too (without the hair blower) CON: There isn't any to speak of! For all those fine haired gals out there....this is a highly recommended product. And I'm a hair product junkie to the core!

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Taffetas Rose #16
rated 5 of 5
sweetgardenangel 5/19/2010 9:34:00 AM

This Chanel #16 Taffeta's Rose lippie is a matte that encompasses pinky-rose cateogory. Although non-drying, it really is dry on the lips without any shimmer that is documented below. Maybe I have an old tube from eBay but it was brand new in authentic box by authentic seller. It's staying power was really excellent, even after drinking coffee and eating lunch. Lasted 5 hours yesterday! This was my first Chanel Lippie and still favor my recent first purchase of Dior Lipstick called Pop Red. My thanks goes to this board for boosting my confidence to branch out and sample cosmetics....keep up the good work!

Styling Products -Frederic Fekkai - full volume mousse
rated 2 of 5
sweetgardenangel 5/3/2010 1:50:00 PM

I've tried to give this product a break, but it just doesn't cut it. I use lots of mid or high end hair products so I guess I'm a geek about my bobbed -a-line inverted cut. It seems to work initially, and flatness later on. Even a bit of oiliness. I had to test the hype and purchased this product at Ulta who has a huge array of Fekkai, which attempts to dazzle you with possibilities. I'm sticking with Bumble's Thickening Spray or Kerastase or Phytology....results are more favorable!
