Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Lip Color - Slopes

I am brunette with light complexion and blue eyes, and this color looked muddy on me, very "eh". Gave it 2 points because the quality of BB lipsticks is excellent, knocked off 3 points for color, just doesn't look that great with my coloring.

Eyeliner -MAC - MAC Powerpoint eyeliner

Oh, how I LOVE this liner!!! I have it in Grey Utility. I was looking for something for my lower lids that would actually stay where I put it. I use creamy concealer, which makes eyeliner smear all over the place. This stuff stays put! I don't apply it directly to my skin; rather, I run my Trish smudger brush across the tip and then smudge a line onto my lower lash area using the brush. I get a very soft, diffused line using this technique that STAYS PUT. I think Utility Grey is a wonderful color - black looks much too harsh on me (NW20, blue eyes, dark brown hair), charcoal grey is a more flattering basic color. It drags on my upper lids, so I prefer my Trish definer powder shadows for upper lids, but it is wonderful for lower lids - definite repurchase!!

Blush -Laura Mercier - Cheek Colour in Rose Bloom

Love this shade! It is a soft pink with a bit of peach in it to tone it down (read: no clown cheeks), but I consider this a neutral shade rather than a warm shade. On me it is quite similar to MAC Cubic but a bit brighter, whereas Cubic is more muted. This blush is silky-smooth, blends like a dream, looks really natural. Definite repurchase!

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

Great primer! I really appreciate the fact it doesn't change the color of my eyeshadow like a lot of primers do. It lightens the shade of the shadow just a tad, though. Shadow and liner stay on all day with this primer. I don't like the packaging, though - have to rotate how I store it (one day up, another day upside-down, then on its side, etc.) in order to get the product out. I'll put up with that, though, since I've never found another primer that comes anywhere close to being as great as this one!

Tinted Moisturizer -Clinique - Moisture Sheer Tint [DISCONTINUED]
rated 3 of 5
mxk2 6/4/2005 12:24:00 PM

Purchased this recently, really liking it so far. The colors run dark, though. For reference, I usually wear the second lightest shade in foundation, and the lightest shade, Fair, in this is a tad darker than Px Traceless Level 2 - Fair is so-so for light folks, but if you're truly fair, look elsewhere. Fair is slightly yellow. It blends easily and feels very light on the skin. Coverage is bare minimum (read: virtually nonexistant), but that is what it is SUPPOSED to be. It nicely evens out skin tone, and that's it. There is a slight unpleasant scent (yea, Band-Aids pretty well describes it), but once it dries down I don't notice it. Sunscreen is broad-spectrum. A winner in my book so far! UPDATED 6/14: I'm returning this. The color just isn't right. Fair is a bit too dark and too warm-toned and turns a tad orange-y as the day wears on. I'm neutral-to-cool and light in tone, and this just doesn't look right. I'm so disappointed, because I think the texture and feel is superb. Fair folks - steer clear. Light folks - really check the color to make sure its not too dark for you. Changed to 3 lippies (knocked 2 off for color, left 3 because in other respects it is great).

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Scarlett Lip Color
rated 5 of 5
mxk2 3/16/2005 5:09:00 PM

The perfect "black tie" red lipstick! This red is neither too warm nor too cool, neither too dull nor too bright - it is a beautiful, rich neutral red. I have light skin, brown hair, blue eyes, look best in cool tones, and this lipstick is *the one* for nights out! Formula is creme with good staying power.

Eye Shadow -Paula's Choice - Soft Matte Eyeshadow [DISCONTINUED]

I'm torn on these. The colors I have are Stone and Granite, and they are the *perfect* grays on me. I look best in neutral colors that lean toward the cool spectrum - colors that are too cool look "cold" on me, and colors with too much warmth wash me out. These two colors, are not too cool, not too warm - absolutely perfect. I have never been able to find greys as flatterning on me, and believe me, I've searched. Unfortunately, these lack pigment. Have to layer, at least a couple swipes over the lid, to get color payoff. I'll continue to purchase, though, because the colors are fabulous on me.

Eye Primer -Urban Decay - Eyeshadow Primer Potion - Original (UDPP)

Hands down the BEST shadow primer I have ever tried!!! Shadow doesn't stand a chance against all the nasty oil my lids produce. Until this product, that is. I am crease-free with this stuff, and shadows also last longer (they don't seem to fade in color as the day wears on). Absolute, postive repurchase!! My gripe, though, like so many other posters, is the lousy packaging and the fact that it seems like there isn't much in the tube to begin with. Well, I'll suck it up and repurchase anyway - it's *that* good!

Lipstick -Laura Mercier - Courtisane

Oh my goodness, I never thought I could pull off a color like this! I look best in cooler tones of makeup. Well, I decided to give this a try after reading the reviews, and I am glad I did! It is peachy-rosey with a golden shimmer. It seems both cool and warm at the same time - it has enough of a cool tone for me to pull it off, and the golden shimmer is beautiful! Yes, the scent is off-putting, but I gave this lipstick 5 points anyway, it is truly a gorgeous lipstick.

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
rated 2 of 5
mxk2 12/24/2004 1:59:00 PM

Great color, great quality. I am NW20, look best in cooler tones, and on me Blushbaby is a brownish-pink, a bit more brown than pink, slightly less pink that Cubic. It is cool enough to look good with my coloring yet warm enough to tone down the redness in my cheeks. The texture is fabulous, it is so finely milled and soft on the skin, a breeze to apply and blend. Would repurchase. UPDATED 7/05: Changed my rating from a 5 to a 2 because this blush turns orange on me by the end of the day. Really a shame, because the texture of the Sheertones is wonderful.

Blush -MAC - Cubic
rated 4 of 5
mxk2 12/24/2004 1:52:00 PM

I am NW20 and look best in cooler tones, but I wanted something "natural" - not too pink, not too brown. The MAC SA tried on two shades and her opinion was Cubic was the blush for me. She was absolutely right! This is a brownish-pink. It is cool enough to look good with my coloring but warm enough to help counteract the redness in my cheeks. It's just wonderful! I took off one point because the texture is a bit powdery and I have to make sure to blend well to get it to mesh with my skin; otherwise, it can look like it's sitting atop the skin. Definite repurchase, I've been searching for a color like this for a long time!

Blush -MAC - Strada
rated 2 of 5

What was I thinking? Why on Earth I thought I could pull off this color is beyond me. I am NW20, look best in cooler tones. I would describe the color of this blush as grayish-brown with perhaps just a smidgen of pink. This looked like dirt on my face, the color just didn't blend into my skin tone even though the blush itself was blended well onto my skin. Blech. Gave 2 lipsticks because even though I consider the color bordering on horrid for cool-toned gals, the quality of the blush and packaging are quite nice.

Lipstick -Trish McEvoy - Essential Pencil
rated 4 of 5
mxk2 12/19/2004 2:53:00 AM

I have this in 02, Sheer Brandy. On me it is a brownish-red but is not *too* warm-toned - it looks great with my cool-toned coloring. The pencil is very creamy and easy to apply. Took one point off because it does feel somewhat dry on the lips. I put a bit of lip balm on my lips before applying the pencil, and this takes care of the dryness problem and makes the pencil look more glossy, too.

Treatments -Sage - MSSR 2% BHA Solution
rated 5 of 5

I love this stuff! Keeps my skin beautifully exfoliated - my skin feels so smooth and the redness is toned down. I have had no side effect of flaking with this (PC BHA caused a lot of flaking). Definite re-purchase.
