Conditioner -Alberto Vo5 - Tea Therapy Vanilla Mint Tea Clarifying Conditioner
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 3/10/2012 4:19:00 PM

I'm glad that Alberto V05 decided to put out another scent for a clarifing conditioner! I love vanilla so I was really looking forward to that, but my nose actually detects the tea the strongest. Nevertheless, it's still a nice, calming scent. This conditioner works just as well as the kiwi lime one for co-washing. It has a runny consistency, which is great for me because it makes the conditioner easy to distribute on my scalp. I really like this and will repurchase.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
rated 1 of 5

I didn't like this. I tried the mini size at Ulta for $9.50. The packaging is what it is, a functional black tube with pink lettering. The brush is a big bristle brush, which I actually prefer. The formula of this is where the FAIL comes in. It's dry....so dry that it won't come out of the tube and whatever is on the brush won't transfer onto my lashes! I put on three coats of this and I had to lean into the mirror and squint to see a difference. An hour later, this stuff had the audacity to start flaking on my cheeks. Yuck. I returned this to Ulta and got my money back.

Conditioner -Shea Moisture - Organic Raw Shea Butter Restorative Condition
rated 4 of 5
missykeyana 3/3/2012 12:47:00 AM

I bought this product as part of the boxed Repair and Transition kit. First I tried this as a rinse-out conditioner after using the shampoo. It left my hair so moisturized, but had no slip whatsoever. (I figured that, my hair loves cones to detangle and this has none) However, it works wonderfully as a leave-in conditioner. When I use this, my 4a hair smells so good and feels so soft. It even has more swing than it has with other moisturizers. I'm not entirely sure if I will repurchase because I have other moisturizers that work just as well and are cheaper than this. I recommend this product to anyone who needs a shot of strengthening moisture in their hair regimen. Edit 7/15/12: I have purchased the full-size bottle after running out of the trial size from the box kit. It's still treating my hair right. In my experience, once my hair is dry I can only smell the fragrance if I pull my hair to my nose. I've received several compliments from others about the smell. The Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus (salmon label) products have a lighter scent.

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Shea Moisture Organic Raw Shea Butter Reconstructive Elixir
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 3/3/2012 12:22:00 AM

Like the previous reviewer, I think that the term "reconstructive elixir" is a little....ambitious. That being said, I still love this product. It's full of goodies with none of the bad stuff. It has the same mild, nutty smell as the rest of the yellow label products. This smell dissipates after you apply the product. I use this oil to seal my hair after applying moisturizer. I've noticed that my ends slip past each other more, indicating more retained moisture. With time, I am hoping to have fewer single-strand knots in my 4a hair. It comes in a spray bottle, but since I usually have product all over my hands, I just spray in my hands a few times, then smooth my hands over my hair. A little goes a long way -- too much can quickly make finer, less textured hairs greasy. I've even used this as a cuticle oil and it soaked right in. I think that this product is a good addition to my regimen and I plan to rebuy when this bottle runs out. EDIT 1/10/13: This bottle sits neglected on my bathroom counter while the Shea Moisture curl & shine spray (pink label) gets all the love and use. I'll figure out how to use this bottle up and I won't repurchase. Not changing the rating; I'm just not into oils, I guess.

Shampoo -Shea Moisture - Organic Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 3/3/2012 12:07:00 AM

This shampoo is AWESOME! Really, I am so excited over this product. Good stuff included, bad stuff excluded! I've long ago abandoned most shampoos because they'd dry out my 4a hair and I'd have to rely on conditioners to counteract that as well as add additional moisture. I had moved on to natural soaps, but even they could be stripping sometimes. Enter this shampoo. It has a mild, nutty smell that I like a lot. It lathers beautifully. Makes me feel like I'm getting clean here! After rinsing, my scalp is left cleansed and my hair is not worse for the effort! It even feels a little moisturized! It's a little more than I normally pay for shampoo, but I can find this in Walgreens and Target. This is important to me because I prefer not to build my hair regimen around products that are very pricey and/or hard to find. I am so happy that I tried this product. I recommend it to all who need a non-stripping shampoo in their life.

Hair -Shea Moisture - Overview
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 3/2/2012 11:54:00 PM

All of the products I have tried so far have been high quality. All the good stuff is included while the bad stuff is excluded! So far I've only tried the Organic Raw Shea Butter line (yellow label) but it has me excited to try other products from the company. What is particularly impressive is that these products are multifunctional, which makes their value more apparent. I am reviewing each product under the individual heading, but I will say here that everything I've tried so far has been beneficial to my hair. Again, good quality and a good value.

This boxed set is a great introduction to the Shea Moisture line. Included is shampoo, light and deep conditioners, and an elixir. All of the products are great for different reasons. I specifically recommend you buy this set if you are interested because you get to try four products for the retail price of two.

Polishes -Wet 'n' Wild - Megalast in "Private Viewing" #204A
rated 4 of 5
missykeyana 3/2/2012 6:38:00 PM

I have this in the new formulation/bottle. This is a nice nude on my caramel skintone. It looks like is a good color for a variety of tones. There is a tiny hint of shimmer that can be seen at certain angles. The formula is good, too. Two coats with a base and top coat lasted 5 days with only tip wear. Very nice for the price. However, I have to take a lippie off for the brush. Yikes! Be sure to open your bottle and check your brushes before buying! The brush in the first bottle I had was terrible. It was too wide and got stuck in the neck of the bottle, making it a challenge for me to finish my manicure. I returned it and got another bottle because I loved the color so much.

Mascara -Too Faced - Mini Lash Injection
rated 1 of 5
missykeyana 2/26/2012 4:02:00 PM

Saw this in Ulta and jumped at the opportunity to try a high end mascara for a (little) less. This stuff is garbage. It smells like oranges. Not sweet, fresh oranges. More like orangey cough syrup. When I applied I saw minimal difference to my lashes, despite me putting on 2 coats. An hour later I looked at my eyes, and behold, this stuff was flaked all underneath my eyes. I'm returning this. What a waste.

Lipstick -Wet 'n' Wild - Megashield Lip Color SPF 15
rated 2 of 5
missykeyana 2/24/2012 11:16:00 PM

Ehh...I saw these on an endcap at Walgreens with a coupon so I got it for super cheap! I picked up Bare-ly Legal and A Currant Affair. The packaging sucks; the cashier and I fought to get the coupon out at the register, then I fought to get the thing open later when I wanted to try it. When I finally got the stuff on the lips, I hated the gritty texture. Bare-ly legal, a pinkish nude, was a little too bright and opaque for my liking. I would try to work with it, seeing as it was so cheap, but I can't work with sucky gritty texture. I took both lipsticks back to the store and I won't try any more colors.

Hair Removal -Unlisted Brand - Skintimate Shaving Gel
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 2/21/2012 4:29:00 PM

This product, for me, is one of those that I never think to review because it's been a staple for years and it's always done its job. Well, I like this shave gel in every iteration. These gels do not dry out my legs and make them itch, help me get a good shave no matter how long it's been since the last one, and some of them even have the nerve to smell good. I am satisfied with this line of shave gels and I will continue to rebuy.

Treatments -Shea Moisture - Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 2/21/2012 4:17:00 PM

This conditioner is currently on my deep conditioner rotation. It has no slip, nor do I expect any of my deep conditioners to have slip, so I apply this after shampooing and detangling with a slippery conditioner. Then I slap a plastic cap on my head and let it sit. No matter if I only have thirty minutes or overnight, I always can tell that this is beneficial to my hair. It feels soft and moisturized without being mushy. I was impressed by the ingredients and performance of this product, so I bought the trial size kit from Walgreens. I hope that it is as good as this masque.

Lotions/ Creams -Freeman - Invigorating Peppermint & Plum Softening Foot Lotion
rated 4 of 5
missykeyana 2/18/2012 5:21:00 PM

I really liked this lotion. My regular everyday foot lotions need to sink in quickly so I can put on my socks/shoes and this does that. It smells nice too. However, it's second to my staple Avon Deep Moisture Lotion. I'd rebuy in a pinch though.

Lipstick -Revlon - ColorBurst Lip Butter - Raspberry Pie
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 2/14/2012 5:52:00 PM

Oh my, I put on this color and I fell in love. It's so gorgeous! On me, Raspberry Pie shows up as a fairly pigmented dark pink. I see no obvious yellow, brown, or purple tones, but I'm not skilled at describing makeup colors (yet). There is no shimmer or glitter in this lip butter. It wears off evenly after 3 hours or so, leaving a light stain. This one may be my new favorite. It just brightens up my face SO much! *sigh* It's awesome....

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst Lip Butter in Pink Truffle
rated 5 of 5
missykeyana 2/14/2012 5:34:00 PM

Pink Truffle is everything I hoped it would be: a MLBB pink. Looks great with my caramel skin, would go with any makeup looks or no other makeup at all, creamy and wears off evenly. I love this color and plan to repurchase upon running out. Edit 10/7/12: I've changed my mind about repurchasing. Because my skin is neutral-cool, I prefer Sugar Plum for my MLBB lip butter. I'll use it up, though.
