Fragrances -Viktor & Rolf - Viktor and Rolf Flowerbomb
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 11/28/2010 8:09:00 PM

I went to Sephora to sample this because if I like it I wanted to purchase the $22.00 roller version. I was expecting to love this, but it didn't work for me, and I think this fragrance is generally overrated. It smells like every Escada perfume I've ever tried, way too fruity. The drydown was almost musty, very perfumey and barely pleasant. Not sure where the florals are in this. Maybe it's just my chemistry, but I really could not find anything special or unique about this at all. I gave it two lippies for staying power. I don't recommend it because any fragrance this expensive should make a better first impression.

Fragrances -Lancome - Tresor In Love
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 9/29/2010 9:57:00 PM

I wanted to love this, but it smells exactly like the original Tresor, like the mothballs in my great-great-great grandmother's attic, just not as cloying. I gave it two lippies because the lasting power is good, and if it works with your chemistry it will not offend people and is very suitable to wear during the day.

Moisturizers -Avon - Anew Ultimate
rated 4 of 5
Peaches1027 9/11/2010 8:23:00 AM

This is a great product, and I hate to give it such a mixed review, but that's what it deserves because Avon could improve on this if it tried just a little bit. I am on my second jar of this. CONS: You have to stick your finger in the jar, which is unsanitary. Burns my face sometimes. So greasy that you cannot apply makeup for several minutes after using it. Smells awful, but fades quickly. This is September and I wore this every single day this summer on my face and neck and have tan lines. There is no way this product is SPF 25. PROS: My 40 something skin looks smoother and younger than it did when I started using it back in May. I also apply this to my hands, and they look better too. I was starting to get brown spots on them, and they have disappeared. The crease from my nose to my mouth is barely noticeable anymore. VERDICT: I will purchase a third jar when this one runs out.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Color Sensational ~ Mauve Me
rated 4 of 5
Peaches1027 9/11/2010 8:04:00 AM

I really like this color, so I'm surprised that most other people are so unhappy with it. This is my third or fourth purchase in this line, so I like the formula in general because it lasts a long time and isn't too creamy or too dry. It tends to cake around the corners of my mouth if I am not careful with the application, which is why it gets a four and not a five. As for the color, when I first applied it in the bathroom light it looked exactly like Lancome's Ooh La La, and I was disappointed because I already own that color. In regular lighting, however, this is a bright metallic medium pink. I think it's very flattering, and I love metallic lipsticks. It's almost over the top, but not quite, and looks striking with my dark hair and olive coloring. This is a great product line, but just as a heads up, my experience with these colors is that all of them are bright. Even the ones that appear muted and understated in the tube go on bright, and if that is not your thing, then stay away from Color Sensational.

Concealers -Laura Geller - Real Deal Full Coverage Cream Concealer
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 9/4/2010 8:34:00 PM

I bought this concealer when I realized that the cream concealer I was using was six years old! I was kind of grossed out by that, and I figured I could find something better. It's only found on QVC, and I came across it when I was killing time on the Internet. I was disappointed by the tiny little tube that I paid 20 bucks for, but that quickly went away when I tried this product. It's the kind of concealer I've dreamed about but didn't think existed. It covers everything, including my melasma. You only need the tiniest little dot, and sometimes a tiny little dot is too much. This is very heavy and opaque, so the application takes a little practice. I put the dot on my fingers and rub them together, and then blend the product into my T zone, which tends to be uneven. Then I dot it on my melasma and any breakouts I have. My face looks perfect afterwards. I mean literally perfect. And it stays that way all day. I wish I had known about this years ago. Highly recommended.

Fragrances -Jessica McClintock - Always & Forever
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 8/5/2010 9:04:00 PM

This is a rich gardenia fragrance with watery notes in it. I am not a huge fan of heady floral perfumes, but I was drawn to this one. I am wearing it every day, and I'm pleased that other people enjoy it as well. I know this because I get compliments! The lasting power is pretty good, about five hours, and the watery notes make it soft enough for work. I went back and bought a second one for a friend because I loved it so much, and she loves it too. Highly recommended.

Eye Shadow -Tarte - Lock and Roll Eyeshadow Duo Set
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 8/5/2010 9:00:00 PM

I own this in Bronze, and I plan on purchasing all of them except the one everyone seems to hate, which is called Sandstone I think. Anyway, this product is fantastic and exceeded my expectations by a million miles. I applied the cream shadow only (no primer and without using the powder roller stuff) at 2:00 p.m. At 4:00 p.m. I did my 30-minute weight training routine at the gym, which causes me sweat profusely. My shadow didn't budge. A couple hours later I decided I was kind of tired and took a 45-minute nap. When I awoke at 7:00 p.m. the eyeshadow had faded ever so slightly but still looked beautiful. My waterproof mascara and eyeliner had run all over my face, of course. I cannot say enough about how great this product is. The powder portion of this duo adds a lot of intensity and richness to the color and is more of a copper than a bronze on me. I like the look, but I prefer the cream on its own. This is well worth the $17.00 I paid for it, and I'm going back for more. Highly recommended.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24-7 Liner in Gunmetal
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 7/16/2010 12:33:00 PM

I will not review the 24/7 formula because I've already done so several times, and I gave this one two lippies because this is a great product in general. This is not a great color though. I have medium olive skin, and this liner looks like frosty powder blue on me. I'm really disappointed in it. I'm still experimenting with it because I'd like to make it work somehow, but I agree with the reviewer above me that this one is a dud.

Fragrances -Michael Kors - Very Hollywood
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 7/11/2010 8:53:00 PM

This fragrance is a generic fruity floral that dries down to a generic powdery floral that does not appeal to me and does not justify the cost either. Perhaps it's my chemistry, but in any event, it smells bad and I was embarrassed while I was wearing it and hoping and praying that no one would notice. I would never recommend this. CVS sells comparable fragrances for a fraction of the cost.

Fragrances -Christian Dior - Dior Addict Shine edt
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 7/11/2010 8:48:00 PM

This fragrance is every kind of awful. It smells floral, fruity and kind of tart in the beginning, so I was looking forward to the drydown. It left me with a musty, powdery, cloying stink that I could not wait to wash off. I cannot recommend this.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 7/11/2010 8:46:00 PM

This product is a huge disappointment. First, I don't like the squeeze tube. I think it should have an applicator or a wand like UDPP. To apply this I had to squeeze some out on the back of my hand and apply it with an eyeshadow brush. Second, this made my eyes burn like crazy and tear up so badly that they ran down my face. On the plus side, my eyeshadow didn't budge, which is why I gave it two lippies. I cannot recommend this product.

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Eye Enhancers - Tapestry Taupe
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 7/11/2010 8:16:00 PM

I used my cash back rewards to acquire this product, so I got it for free. I'm glad, because even though the price is so reasonable, this is not worth purchasing let alone repurchasing. The color is pretty, but on my medium olive skin it basically disappears except for the shimmer. The color saturation is okay, and when applied with TFSI underneath the results are a little better. The powder is gritty and flaked into my eyes a little bit. I just cannot give this a raving review.

Fragrances -Elizabeth Arden - Pretty

Another overpriced, bland, utterly unremarkable floral fragrance. There are already hundreds of fragrances out there that smell exactly like it. Save your money.

Moisturizers -Olay - Regenerist Deep Hydration Regenerating Cream
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 5/31/2010 11:23:00 AM

I am on my 4th bottle of this cream, and decided it's time to write a review. I love it, obviously, since I keep repurchasing it. It is a great moisturizer, but it doesn't feel greasy or heavy. It makes my skin very smooth as well and works great under makeup. My skin tone is more even since I've been using this cream, and I've been able to switch to a sheer foundation (ES DW Light). I haven't used concealer in at least three months, and I know it's because of this product. Another huge plus for me is that this is unscented. I have two complaints: The outer packaging is over the top and cumbersome, and probably adds to the cost of the product, and there is little to no warning when the jar is getting low, which has caused me to make emergency trips to the store to get more. Otherwise, I really like this. I wish it was cheaper, but I've been able to use my store coupons and I pay about $20.00 for this. I think the actual price is $25.00 or $30.00. I definitely recommend this, especially if you are over 40. It is now summer, and I just started using the version of this with SPF. I will review that separately at another time.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Queen by Queen Latifah
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 5/31/2010 11:13:00 AM

I walked into CVS and this was near the door, so tried it. I smelled it immediately, which is a no-no when sampling fragrances, but at first whiff my eyes popped out, my head jerked back, and I said WOW. This is an outstanding fragrance and smells like a high-end designer fragrance used to smell back in the old days when houses really cared about the quality of their products. It is creamy, slightly sweet, slightly musky, slightly floral, and smooth as glass. I love it, and so does my husband. When I tried it at CVS I put it on at about 9:30 at night, and in the morning at 11:00, before showering, it was still lingering. For this reason it should be applied sparingly, avoiding contact with clothing. I hate celebrity fragrances as they are usually an attempt by a fading star to stay relevant, and they almost always stink to high heaven. This fragrance is a stand out, and smells heavenly divine. You can tell that Queen Latifah really cared about the quality of this perfume, and it shows. I appreciate her for that. Definitely recommended. At CVS, $35.00 USD.
