Polishes -Rimmel - 60 Second Nail Enamel - Ethereal 801
rated 5 of 5

This really does dry in 60 seconds and so when you are in a big hurry for a polished look, oh boy. Also, it looks fine with just one coat. In fact, I'm not sure if these 60 second ones are designed for two coats. It's a really shimmery beigy pink with sort of flashes of peach, different sparkles of color. I like it when I'm in a big hurry. The lasting ability is not good, but then, this is for when you are in a time crunch and want to look good that day.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Lasting Finish - Dizzy

It's an okay shade of pink but the smell of this turned my stomach. A very strong scent, I think it was fruity but have sort of blocked it from my sensory memory. Yuck.

Lip Gloss -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Gloss- Star Pink

Got this in a GWP. It's a pretty pink, but just a touch of pigment here. Nice sparkles. I like this to wear with a lipstick that I need to "dillute" - i.e., I put this on as a base and then paint the too dark or too bright lipstick on over this with a lip brush and the effect is to tone down the depth of color to a more workable shade. Very nice for that.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Electric Intense Lip Creme - Electrified
rated 4 of 5

I got this as a GWP full size lipstick. My first thought when I put in on was that it was a bit too dark and that it looked a bit too purply for me. Might could wear at night, but never day. But on second try, I first put on a light layer of pale pink tinted gloss, then applied this lipstick lightly with a lipbrush. Doing this, I got a very pretty color and one I can wear daytime. Nice quality of lipstick, would love to try another color in the Electric Intense group.

Concealers -L'Oreal - AirWear ] [DISCONTINUED]

This is amazing stuff for the money. I'm really liking it for concealing my very stubborn red capillaries that are so hard to keep concealed. I use corrector, a very yellow shade that works well for that. I hope that it's not true this is being discontinued, but people here seem to know their stuff, so maybe I'll grab another tube while I can!

Foundations -L'Oreal - Visible Lift, Extra Coverage, Line Minimizing Makeup
rated 5 of 5

I'm pretty impressed with this, for the money. I think the coverage is good, even though I'm 47, not the "old lady" some think this is for. I have a lot of redness, broken capillaries, that I want covered, and this does the trick. Also, it stays on pretty well through the day, doesn't seem to fade away. I bought pale, which is not a bad match for me. I'd like it to be the teensiest bit darker and yellower, but really, it's pretty close. For a drugstore foundation, this one is quite good. I used to use Chanel Vitalumiere, and I still prefer it, but I don't have that kind of money right now, so this one is a good sub for me. I don't know if it minimizes lines per se, I don't have lines much yet, knock on wood. Seems like it's best for dry skin, as others have said.

Crème -Bobbi Brown - smooth skin foundation [DISCONTINUED]

I got a sample of this in sand, which is what I wear in the stick foundation, because I forgot people's warning that this one runs lighter. Went back and got a sample in warm sand. But... I still don't like this. I thought it looked okay when I put it on, but by six in the evening I felt like it had disappeared. I wasn't happy with this since I teach at night! Most foundations are still on me, by evening, but this one, all my ruddiness was coming through by evening. Perhaps I didn't put it on properly, but I don't have that kind of time, if that's what it takes. I need my ruddiness taken care of all day/night! So, a no go for me, though I usually like BB things.

Blush -Smashbox - Blush & Soft Lights Duo - Smashing Golden Beige / Ray
rated 5 of 5

I got this as part of a kit (I think it was the cover shot kit, QVC)and always loved the blush; agree with Dmartin that it is more pink-ish beige, that's what makes it so wearable. I get compliments on this blush. But the highliter was sort of useless to me until I discovered that it is a great browbone highliter, and now I'm using it a lot for that. Shimmery and bright but not too shimmery. Really lights up my green eyes. It's a pretty vanilla shade.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Lip Color - Pink #6
rated 5 of 5
KarenPie 8/23/2004 12:55:00 AM

I tried this on at a BB counter and really loved it. I'd say it's a bright pink, but not neon bright. It's a very true pink I think, not toned with other colors, just pretty, pure pink. I will buy this when I have a spare 19 bucks for sure. Edit: Bought it and I'm pleased with it. But it's a bit dry so needs to be topped with gloss definitely.

Lotions/ Creams -Avalon Organics Botanicals - Vitamin C Therapeutic Hand & Body Lotion
rated 5 of 5
KarenPie 8/21/2004 3:12:00 PM

Another fantastic Vitamin C product from Avalon Organics. I love this stuff. A really pleasant orange smell, not cloying sweet, just fresh and delightful. The lotion is thick and very emollient but not greasy, blends in well, never feels tacky after application like some rich creams. Has a pump dispenser, which I like for lotions. Adore!

Tinted Moisturizer -Stila - Sheer Color Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15

I got a nice size sample tube of this at Nordies when I bought the annivesary stars kit recently, and I'm really enjoying it. I got it in light, which is good for me. It is not enough coverage on its own for me, but I dot a bit of this on, then dot a bit of my usual foundation on (chanel vitalumiere) and blend onto my face and it is really nice used in that way.

Blush -Smashbox - Smashing Golden Beige [DISCONTINUED]

I got this in one of the QVC kits (in a split pan with a hiliter I don't use much) but the blush I like a lot. Agree it's not very beige, it's a natural-looking rosy shade, actually. All I know is I tend to get complements when I wear it, and that makes something a keeper for me!

Conditioner -Matrix - Biolage - Detangler
rated 5 of 5
KarenPie 7/25/2004 12:46:00 PM

I like this one a lot. My hair tangles pretty bad and this takes care of that very well. My hair combs out like a dream. I like the feel of it and the cool blue color and the smell of it (not as heavy-handed as some Biolage stuff). You don't need a lot of it to get the job done, either, so I think that makes it a good buy. Wish I'd discovered this one sooner. Good for those of us who wash our hair every day because it doesn't leave residue and isn't greasy. Great stuff.

Blush -Stila - Peony Convertible Color
rated 5 of 5
KarenPie 7/19/2004 1:02:00 AM

I have the small size Peony CC that came in the Stila Stars anniv. kit. So happy to have this. It's a great summer color I think, a bronzy pink. This is my third CC and once I learned how to pat the color on, I fell in love with these. Such a natural, lovely blush. This size will be nice to pop into my purse. I have to agree with other reviewers though: this color doesn't look good on lips.

Lip Gloss -Stila - Lip Pot in Baie
rated 4 of 5
KarenPie 7/19/2004 12:35:00 AM

I got this in the Stila Stars jewelry box Nordies Anniv. kit. I thought the color was very pretty in the pot, but it goes on more sheerly, isn't very pigmented, which disappointed me. I apply it with a brush, and find it nicely emollient but not greasy. Great for polishing over a dry lipstick or something. Mostly, I love the pot itself. I'm a complete sucker for that adorable victorian flower on the lid. I will definitely save the jar to put something else in when I use it up. I tried this gloss on over Clinique cocoa rose quickliner today and that was a very nice combo and made the color last better.
