Treatments -MD Skincare by Dr. Dennis Gross - Alpha Beta Daily Face Peel

UPDATE: Why me? This is such a great product. However, when I tried it again, the rash that formed extended all the way down my neck. Not the worst rash ever - small bumps that could be felt and were itchy, but were hard to see if you're not looking for them. But before the rash starts, right after I use this product, man does my skin look fantastic. This will be my last time experimenting.... really. I wanted to love this product. When I first used it my skin looked fresh and luminous and I was thrilled. However, after using it for only three days my skin developed weird bumps all over the jawline. This also happened when I used Clinique's Repairwear day, so I am guessing I might have an allergic reaction to something in both products. For now, I have given up trying to use it, although I am still hopeful that perhaps it was some other skin anomaly and not the peel that caused this strange reaction to my face. I might give it one more go, and if I have any different results I will update.

Moisturizers -Kinerase - Kinerase Cream
rated 2 of 5

Gosh, this was an expensive mistake and I hope I can return it!! I bought this after the saleswoman at Sephora commented on how wonderful the Kinerase products are. I have extremely dry, sensitive skin that's prone to breakouts (but also with fine lines). After using this product for only a week, along with the other products in the trial kit, I broke out all over my face and my skin literally began PEELING off. My face feels and looks like leather. Since reading the other reviews on this site I am going to promptly stop using the Peptide treatment (the info that you're not supposed to apply it near your eyes is frightening since I didn't know that). I am also going to immediately return it to Sephora. Absolutely awful!!!

Powder -Bare Escentuals - Bare Minerals ALL

Ok, let me begin by saying that so far I love this product (I have been using it for about a week). Fortunately I haven't had any reactions to it and it gives me a really flawless looking face - except for one problem!! This is why I took off one lippie - I can NOT find a shade that matches my skin. I started with the medium kit, which the salesgirl insisted was the right tone for me. It looked ok, except for the fact that it was a completely different color than my neck. Back I went to Sephora and they sold me the light shade. However, this wasn't a good color match for my skin, either (And my neck still looks a suspiciously different color). So now I have BOTH the medium kit and the light individual shade and I have been trying to experiment with mixing but no great results. I'm disappointed because I really love the way it makes my skin look natural, I just wish the color was natural too. So far I have spent 75 dollars and no solution in sight. If anyone else reading this has a solution, I would love to know it because I don't want to give up on the product yet.

Primer/ Corrector -Prescriptives - Magic Cream Potion
rated 3 of 5

I really really wanted to love this product and so far I am on the fence about it. I use it sparingly and it does seem to brighten my undereye circles and some redness on my cheeks, but so far nothing magic. Also, I have been getting some whiteheads around my nose where I have been using it to disguise uneven color so I'm not sure if it's the culprit or the new moisturizer I've been using. Also, I don't like that it contains silica because (although I'm not terribly informed, admittedly) I've heard this can block pores. Also, it seems to accentuate some of the fine lines on my forehead, whereas it promised to disguise them, so I don't use it there anymore. I still like it for night time when it gives my skin an added shimmery glow. I will continue using it and try to perfect my technique, but so far I consider it to be too expensive and not delivering the "magic" promise. I would not repurchase.

Mascara -Prescriptives - False Eyelashes Mascara
rated 4 of 5
AlmaStarr 11/15/2005 11:19:00 AM

I was very pleased when I received this mascara after ordering a prescriptives "package" off QVC. I consider my eyelashes to be my very best feature and yet I have searched everywhere for one that actually lenghtens, defines, and doesn't clump or flake. This is it for me!! This mascara works beautifully, and I really have tried everything. This is a good product for people who want to accentuate lashes. Not heavy (like great lash) or flaky. I have not tried the waterproof (and don't know if they even have it) But overall, very highly recommended. I took off one lippie because it doesn't seem to change the overall fullness of my lashes, just lengthen and define, but that was what I wanted. It gives your lashes a deep, wet, black look that really almost looks like false eyelashes!

Moisturizers -Clinique - Repairwear Day SPF 15 Cream
rated 2 of 5
AlmaStarr 11/15/2005 11:06:00 AM

This was my first misguided adventure into the land of anti-wrinkle creams - and how disappointing!! I am just turning 27 and began noticing fine lines. I also have very dry skin that's prone to breakouts. First, this did not moisturize AT ALL. It was so bad, in fact, that I found myself trying to rub it into the dry areas and after a few minutes it would feel like it was sitting on top of my skin. Second, it broke out my skin and after a while of consistent use I developed these bumps all over my skin, especially around my jawline - somewhere between a rash and acne. Needless to say I finally gave up and have not yet found anything to work for me and my dryness and fine lines. Oh well... Too expensive and not worth it for me!

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer
rated 3 of 5
AlmaStarr 11/9/2005 11:08:00 AM

I began using this product after reading the Elle article about the positively radiant products. Like some others here, I noticed that my skin would have an immediate reaction after putting it on. Tingling, a slight burning, and often red patches. However, with determination I kept using it, figuring that this might mean it was "working". True enough, after a couple of applications I no longer had a reaction to it and I found that it mixes very well with foundation for a light look. It also creates a nice, matte look, and makes the skin feel tighter. However, it is not very moisturizing and after continued use over a period of months I finally determined that I saw no benefits in my skin from using it (in fact, my skin had gotten way too dry) so I stopped. Not for me...but I don't hate it either.
