Moisturizers -Clinique - Even Better Skin Tone Correcting Moisturizer SPF 20

I have a light spattering of spots and this has not done anything to reduce them, hence I would not recommend this for lessening pigmentation. If I try hard to use my imagination, maybe there is a very slight effect. It is however, a more superior cream to superdefence and it will be my replacement for the colder seasons. It applies very smoothly and is more refined than superdefence, so if you like that, you will probably like this. This is far too heavy for use in warmer seasons or if you have oily skin, I think this may be a tad too greasy. It takes a while for it to absorb but once done so, it gives a nice finish. If you are after pigmentation lightening, Aambi cream does a lot more for $5 and you only need to use it for a month or so every 6 month cycle. There is a bit of hype around this but it really does nothing to lighten spots and I am half way through, perhaps if you use it in conjunction with the serum, it may do something more, but the serum clogged me up. I like the fact the cream is very smooth and doesn’t contain any light reflective particles. I would say definitely try before you buy.

Primer/ Corrector -Urban Decay - All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray

I recommend the Skindinavia makeup spays far and beyond over this. They actually work and cost about the same. I did not find this to be anywhere near the performance of Skindinavia so i say, go for that instead. I am not dry, so if you are dry, maybe the dry version will work for you but I was after something to keep oilies at bay and for all day hold.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Cashmere 04
rated 3 of 5

I find this to be the perfect nude, most are very boring and gives a wash out effect but this is the perfect balance of beige, pink and peach. It is very easy to wear and requires no precision, so no lipliner required. The reason why I gave it 3 lippies is the fact that I really dislike the forumula. Despite raves about this new lipstick, I find the formula to be too thick and very tacky, it is like smearing melted coco butter on your lips, very goopy. Due to the thickness, this will crack and bleed into lines so ensure that your lips are in good condition. I wish the forumula was better, even a $1 NYX lipstick has a much smoother texture while still giving a pigmented finish. I wear lots of balm underneath so that prevents the line cracking effect. Rouge allure formulas are much better but I cant find a similar shade so I will repurchase.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Allure-Darling
rated 3 of 5
wonderbuy 6/4/2010 5:29:00 AM

This is quite different from the usual line up of rouge allures in that it is very sheer and the colour is quite the standard MLBB. I find this to be nice but not great. The colour is ordinary, I bought it because I found UD Naked a bit too blue tinged for me, so this is a nice substitute. What I do like about it is the fact that it lasts and lasts. A lot lighter than other rouge allures, you will like this if you are a little lipstick shy or dont usually wear them. This is fail safe and will always be appropriate, but its a little boring for me. The finish is satin. I actually prefer the finish of UD lipsticks better, they leave a nice gleam to it but isnt high shine. This is definitely a keeper but its the baseline lipstick or when I need to look as if I am not wearing anything. Goes with everything and anything.

Highlighters -MAC - Marine Life [DISCONTINUED]

Do not swap your Ripe Peach for this (or for anything more than its retail value), it is no where near as good. This is a fabulous collectors item but I was sort of regret ruining it by using it. The major issue is that after the overspray is gone, the color makes me look a bit too ruddy, it has a sienna undertone which is Ok but perhaps not the most flattering on me. This is really cute but I don’t find this to be an effective highlighter or an effective blush. The overspray and seahorse imprint is nice along with the green so its up there on the aesthetic side of things. After the initial layer is gone, this is just a ho-hum pink powder which is not pigmented enough to be a blush and too pink to be a highlighter. Its not special and same old formula. This is worth no where near as to what Ripe Peach is worth, so hang onto that.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - EyeCon

After using an entire jar before I made the verdict, this really does nothing to ease dark circles. It moisturises enough but does not acheive its purpose. Very overpriced and I suggest you get yourself a generous sample before purchasing. You are better off buying a high end eye cream and a great concealer. Plain old Vitamin K cream from drugstores/health food places do a better job than this, at least there is some visible improvement. *Sigh* search continues.

Lipstick -Chanel - Rouge Coco in Mademoiselle 05
rated 2 of 5
wonderbuy 4/20/2010 6:29:00 AM

For the price, I really expected more. This wears like a drugstore lipstick and looks like one too. These days drugstore stuff is getting better and better and is closing in on HE stuff. I found the texture too thick and it did not wear evenly. Rouge Allures are much better and are in a different calibre so I will be sticking to them, Rouge Coco just doenst have the finess of Rouge Allures. I found this to be much more drying than Rouge Allure and Aqualumiere. The color is way pinker than it looks on swatches and is a little too pink, there are many dupes for this and I dont think its anything special. I also have Muse, which I think is a much better color since it is less pink but still gives you a polished look, I get a lot more wear out of that one. The scent is nauseating and is like spraying perfume into your mouth. I would say Muse and Perle are much better choices than this. Over rated I would say.

Moisturizers -Murad - Essential-C Day Moisture SPF 30
rated 2 of 5
wonderbuy 4/16/2010 2:35:00 AM

This is a nice lightweight cream that absorbs well but doesn’t provide much mositure however I cant stand this since I can taste the bitter sunscreen after I apply this. It doenst go anywhere near my mouth and I am not spreading it on my toast but for some reason, I can taste it and it is very bitter and gross, maybe its aborbed very quickly or something, but indeed this is a strange issue to have. Definitely try a sample beforehand.

Treatments (Eye) -Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair Eye Recovery Complex
rated 4 of 5
wonderbuy 4/15/2010 9:24:00 AM

This is the texture of vaseline / lip balm. It is a lot goopier than what I thought it would be. I like this since it moisuturises and is a fantastic base for concealer since it lasts much longer and appears to prime it very well. It has however, made my skin sensitive so it stings a bit everytime I apply this, which is a common complaint. I have not used it enough to determine if it gives me milia or not but this is not a cream as it is a thick whipped gel. It improves the overall appearance of the skin around the eyes but does nothing for circles. I hate the jar, it is unhygenic and uneconomical since it is a square jar and is only 15ml, inevitably it would be a struggle to get the last 50% out when you are half way through.

Cleansers -Boscia - MakeUp-BreakUp Cool Cleansing Oil
rated 4 of 5
wonderbuy 4/9/2010 6:19:00 PM

Based on an equivalent volume measurement, this is more expensive than NARS, Bobbi Brown, Shu Uemura cleansing oils, in fact this is the most expensive cleansing oil on the market. This is the best oil cleanser I have ever used. Very effective, a little goes a long way and has the most slip of all oil cleansers I have used. Doesnt smell off like some can do and effectively removes everything. Love the cooling finish. Despite this, I find it to be very overpriced and I will not repurchase due to this. The shiseido cleansing oil is double this amount for $5 more and is just as good. This brand is made by FANCL, which is a pretty pricey Japanese brand known for its tiny packaging. I find the skincare range to be non-effective and doenst do enough for my skin but this really delivers. Packaging is great, I will keep the bottle to transfer cleansers to.

Moisturizers -Prescriptives - Anti-Age Moisturizer
rated 5 of 5
wonderbuy 4/4/2010 6:10:00 PM

This is one of the most advanced day creams I have used. This review is for the lotion version, although I do have the cream as well for colder seasons. The thing with this is that you can’t be in a rush to apply make up. This needs at least 15-20min absorption time. If it does not get that, it will be greasy and have too much slip for subsequent makeup. Once absorbed, I can truly feel the protection it gives me since the difference is visible. At the end of the day, my skin is soft, even and looks cushioned. I don’t get this with Clinque Superdefence, which is easier to absorb and probably more suitable to oily-combo skins. Even though this is a lotion, I would only recommend it for normal skins, other wise you may find this too greasy. I still blot prior to applying make up and do get some oily stains, but once it absorbs, its completely in and is a great base for makeup and provides quite a bit of grip so great for applying more emollient foundations. If however you use powder foundations, its best to apply it after applying the moisturiser since it provides a lot more slip for the powder to glide. Highly recommended.

Blush -Tarte - Natural Beauty Cheek Stain
rated 3 of 5
wonderbuy 4/2/2010 12:41:00 AM

This is not bad, the color lasts for much longer than the other shades and is no where as near as sticky. This appears to be a lot more concentrated as well. The shade is not right for me, this is essentially a brown based red. On me, it looked unatural and turned a sienna brown color. After a while it began to smell a bit funny, but there is so much in here it is enough to last you a lifetime.

Cleansers -La Roche Posay - Effaclar Purifying Gel Cleanser
rated 5 of 5
wonderbuy 3/31/2010 6:11:00 PM

This is a face wash that surprised me greatly. I did not expect to like this at all but this is truly a high performance cleanser. Does not dry me out like the Clinique acne solutions foaming wash and prevents pimples effectively. Most of all, I like the fact that it’s low foaming and very easy to wash off. A clear running gel, small bit goes a long way, negligible fragrance, zaps oil, reduces pimples and leaves me feeling clean and non-tight. Also this gets rid of eye makeup, although I would not recommend that you just use this. Highly recommended for oily combo skins that has low-moderate acne. No hype, no fuss, well priced and really works.

Treatments (Eye) -Philosophy - Eye Hope Advanced Anti-Aging Eye Cream
rated 1 of 5
wonderbuy 3/31/2010 6:05:00 PM

This is a drugstore eye cream with a department store tag. It leaves your skin feeling smooth due to the silicones and the effect is only superficial, once you wash your face, you are back to where you started. It provides very little moisture and did not do anything for me at all. Like all things in this line, good for you if you are using lower end stuff or cant tolerate very potent ingredients. For me however, I am using to powerful products and have resilient skin so this did nothing for me. I recommend Booths Black Liquorice eye cream over this or Kiehls avocado eye cream, all of which are very similar in texture and after-feel and much cheaper. At least these really moisturise if nothing else.

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
rated 2 of 5
wonderbuy 3/31/2010 5:57:00 PM

This product is not for me and I found it to be over rated. There are several issues with this: 1. There is not enough pigmentation. Unlike for other blushes in this line, this is serious lacking and is too sheer. 2. This is too orange. This brings out the green in my yellow under-toned skin and makes me look a mustard colour. Not cute. Deep throat is much better since it’s not as orange. 3. The texture is rough and graining. Not smooth like a lot of their matt blushes, this made my smooth cheeks look not smooth. This is hard pressed and not smooth and buttery at all. 4. This is way too shimmery. Shiny disco balls come to mind. 5. Easily dupable with better products like Cargo big easy, The Balm Hot Mama, Bobbi Brown bronzer in Antigua, all of which are better in formula. If you are curious, I suggest that you try it on and wear for a day or swap for it, before buying this point blank. Would work better for cooler, pink-toned girls who are very light, alternatively you can just use this as a highlighter, but the texture makes you skin look rough and crater-like. If this blush was so great, the buy-again rate would be in the 90s.
