Palettes -Too Faced - The Quickie Chronicles - The Beach Bunny
maitai215 11/28/2006 10:58:00 PM
i bought this on the TF sale so it was well worth the $6 i paid, not sure if it's worth full price. but i use all the colors in it, my favorites being the blush which gives my sallow yellow asian skin a nice glow w/o being too pink, and the light yellow e/s which i use for highlighting at the brow line. the brown e/s seems a bit orange too me, maybe better for the summer time when i'm more tan. and i love all l/g so i use this a lot and it's quickly being used up faster than the other stuff. the only negative i find (which is prob true about all palettes) is i dont like how the edges of each tin gets dirty and i like to wipe it down with a wet tissue or cloth, but since the pkg is pressed cardboard, it tends to fray a bit. aside from that, the pkg is very cute. totally worth buying again!
Lip Gloss -Victoria's Secret - Very Sexy Lipgloss in Hottie
maitai215 9/27/2006 7:52:00 PM
i thought it was super loud color in the tube, but once on, it wasn't too bright at all, a nice soft red perfect for fall. but i hated the applicator! i don't like brushes in general (prefer the wand tip that's like a doe foot) and i thought the applicator was cheaply constructed. i got this as a freebie, so maybe the big size tube will have another applicator style? i love the gooey consistency, i like my glosses glossy (even if my bf doesn't!) =) might also try other colors, but probably not worth paying full price for.
Eyeliner -Tony & Tina - Black/Silver Herbal Glitter pencil
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:50:00 PM
well, its eye liner that i only use at night for going out, so one pencil can last me forever! but this is just perfect for the cool smokey eye look with some fun glitter look. and it goes on a smooth line that you can smudge (with the other end of the pencil). or just wait a few hours and the liner naturally smudges itself (some girls don't like this, but i personally like it). so it's awesome. in fact, i've noticed that half of my sorority sisters also use this. so it's a nighttime staple for us! i can just dash it on, smudge it, and not use any other eye makeup and look like i'm ready to party!
the color really lasts! that's why i like mac. but it's pricey (i normally buy drugstore stuff for fun nighttime stuff that i don't use too much) but i got this as a gift. so it's a great color for a fun nighttime look. i wear with a lighter highlight color on the browbone. or for a darker smokey look, i just layer lots of mascara and black glittery eyeliner with it. so it has two looks in one! one pot lasts a long time, so i prob won't need to repurchase.
Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Cool Effect Liner/Shadow in Cool Beans
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:43:00 PM
this is an awesome basic color for summer. it goes on cool (why its good for summer) and gives a subtle gleam to the eye lid. but make sure u blend right away otherwise it dries right where it is, and the color might be too much. i use a tiny dab for each eye. and for super long lasting power, i layer a powder on top. otherwise, it naturally fades by the end of the day, great for a subtle look.
Eye Shadow -Revlon - Revlon Illuminance Cream Shadow Quad - Skinlights
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:40:00 PM
i love the colors. i like how they are perfect bronzy layers for summer. but i hate how in the humid weather, it totally creases. it helps when i use a powder ontop, but then it defeats the purpose of the shimmery cream colors. it's just a matte powder now. oh wellz. i'll still use it and either just do touch ups until i use up the palette. (i have two, and when i use up one tin, i just pop another color in it, palettes are perfect for travel!)
Masks -Neutrogena - Deep Clean oil-controlling mask
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:37:00 PM
i love the scent of this mask. i like how it goes on clear and then turns white when it's time to rinse. it leaves me feeling clean but not overly dry like some other masks do. the results are of course, temporary, but i still feel refreshed. will buy again. the price compared to some others in the drug store is a bit pricier, but still, not too bad considering you use it once or twice a week.
Misc Beauty Tools -Clean & Clear - Oil Absorbing Sheets
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:32:00 PM
i've been using this product since it first came out in the market (7 years ago?) and it's awesome. leaves no coating like other rice powder sheets. and totally gets rid of the shine, perfect for using surreptiously right before a photo op. and good for when u can't get to a mirror for a touch up and want to dab away the oil w/o smudging up other makeup. always a re-buy for me (note, once on vacation in asia i discovered them for really cheap like $2 for a pkg of 70 sheets, so i stocked up). but the price hear for $5 isn't bad when u compare it to other dept store brand stuff. i keep mine in a business card case for a more stylish look in my purse.
Styling Products -Dove - Smooth & Soft Anti-Frizz Cream
maitai215 6/16/2005 3:28:00 PM
just used the sample i got in the mail and it was awesome. put it on when i had to get a pic taken cuz my hair has fly aways (it's straight and fine asian hair) and it tamed the fly aways way down. my hair was perfectly straight and didn't even curl up at the ends as much as it normally does. will definitely buy!
i like the size and convenient packaging (i've had one stick for several years, but then i don't use it that much). i do bring it for travel though, cuz it can give my hair instant lift before i go out at night. but it can get kind of greasy feeling if your're wearing it all day and night. so i don't like to put it on in the morning. and it works only if your hair is completely dry (i style when it's still partially wet in the morning, and my garnier spray gel works like that!) i do like the refreshing scent. but i just think it makes my hair feel greasy.
Mascara -Maybelline - Sky High Curves Extreme Length and Curl [DISCONTINUED]
maitai215 5/16/2005 12:02:00 PM
i have stick straight, average length lashes. even after lots of curling with a eyelash curler, this mascara does not keep it's promise to hold or accentuate curl at all. it does thicken my lashes pretty naturally, and extends the length a bit. so it's ok. but i think i'll keep looking...
they are pretty typical sheer lip glosses, but very goopey (you can't kiss right after you apply it!) but i like how it gives a subtle shine, not the patent high gloss of some other brands. it looks more natural. plus i like having several shades lined up on my counter. they're so pretty in the squeeze tube!
Lip Treatments -Almay - Pure Tints Protective Lip Care
maitai215 5/16/2005 11:54:00 AM
i bought several of these because they were on sale, but for their normal retail price, it's really not worth it. it's suppose to be very sheer (i thought it'd be like benetint) but in fact, it looks like lipstick to me. lipstick texture too. it's pretty good moisture qualities, but overall, not a great product. i'll just use up the shades i've got in nude, rose, mauve. they are good for day time use, when you want to kick your own lip color up a couple of notches, for business casual.
Concealers -Shiseido - Optimal Cover Concealer [DISCONTINUED]
maitai215 5/16/2005 11:47:00 AM
i love this concealer! this is what i've been using since i've switched to the shiseido line for skincare and base. i bought one two years ago, and i still have over half the container left. it comes in an easy to transport little pot. i use a travel size concealer brush to dip into it and a tiny bit covers up zits, undereye circles (although the texture is a bit thick, so make sure to moisturize beforehand, otherwise it will accentuate any flakes or non-smooth areas). sometimes when i travel or just on light makeup days, i just use this w/o any base or any other makeup. it makes my skin look so clear. that, and since it's very opaque, i've also used it as a lip primer when i want a neutral lip look (my lips are naturally very red). so for $22, it's a very versatile and long lasting product. will definitely rebuy when it runs out, although that might be a while...
Concealers -L'Oreal - True Match Super-Blendable Concealer
maitai215 4/27/2005 11:24:00 AM
i wear the warm light. and i was surprised i was a warm tone b/c i'm asian and i always thought i'd be a cool, blue based color. but the color is super blendable. it looks dark and heavy in the tube, but when applied with the brush, and using several light layers instead of just one thick layer, it can cover even the darkest spots and reddest pimples. gotta love that. its a small tube (altho tat makes it easier for travel and mid-day touch ups) for a drug store brand for $8-$9, but i'd definitely buy again.
