Lip Gloss -Christian Dior - Creme de Gloss - #231 - Beige Silk Satin
lareinarumbera 7/23/2009 7:32:00 PM
my HG lip gloss! i bought this rather suspiciously to replace my now discontinued but beloved diorkiss in hazelnut lychee. i was NOT disappointed. my experience with this gloss... colors: i bought just one, the beige silk satin (#231), initially... it was a nice peachy-pinkish beige on me, perfect for a nude lip. it brightened up my fair asian skin (NC15/20) nicely, even though i had no other makeup on. i loved it so much that the day after i went and got sweet praline (#431), which was still a peachy-pink, but a bit more pink and sparkly. i will be reviewing it here since there is no product page for it yet. both colors will work well on a variety of complexions and with both day and nighttime looks. i prefer the beige with a smoked-out eye and the praline for a daytime/office pulled-together look. the praline is a MLBB color for me, and the beige more of a muted true nude. texture: it's the TEXTURE of this gloss that wowed me, not the colors... the colors are not all that special, MAC has many like these. airy, whipped, soft, souffle-like, not sticky but substantial. feels like you melted & whipped a lipstick and applied it! i've never felt anything else like this. absolutely divine, i'm used to tacky/goopy or oftentimes watery/slippery lip gloss, but this is just simply and undescribably awesome. NOT as shiny as some glosses, i.e. if you're looking for a lacquered effect this is not the gloss for you. BUT it does leave a classy, sexy sheen to your lips, and is not too frosty. it is rather "glowy," not chunky glitter or cheesy shimmer. longevity: wears pretty well for a gloss. i only had to reapply because i ate noodle soup at a vietnamese place. i would say 2-3 hours minimum and maybe longer. doesn't goop up, feel tacky or make ugly chunky things on your lips, hour after hour. fades to a pretty stain that isn't dry or flaky looking. other benefits: feels moisturizing, comfortable on my lips. did not need lip balm at all. i only wish it had sunscreen and i would be set! has a nice, unobtrusive white tea scent, but no discernable taste. keeps lips smooth and pretty. boyfriend did not mind kissing me with this on either, since it wasn't too shiny or tacky (didn't rub off major-sparkly on him either). container: nice dior lucite container with navy blue cap. pretty! these don't leak like the addict lip glosses, because the cap locks into place. it comes with a doefoot applicator, which is very soft and flexible. good size too - not too skinny/long or stumpy. wouldn't fit in a pocket, but it's not humongous like some glosses (rimmel gloss with light thingy, i'm talking to you!). nothing too special or innovative though. i don't mind taking it out in public, the logo is there but not too big (that's what i also hated about the addict containers). overall, unless i want a more lacquered look, i will be wearing these all the time! both colors are amazing without washing me out, even on a minimally done up face (highlighter, cheek tint & this lip gloss). i won't bother with any other nude gloss anymore, and will be saving up my pennies to buy these again. i think i may just chuck my tried-and-failed lip glosses or give them away to my sister, altogether. i can't tolerate sticky glosses after these! highly recommend!

Gels/Soaps -LUSH - Honey I Washed the Kids soap
lareinarumbera 6/23/2009 5:59:00 PM
my favorite lush soap along with sexy peel. if you don't cure it, it goes away pretty quickly but other than that an amazing soap. you can make it last longer by asking for smaller pieces and then unwrapping it in a drawer for a few days. then it's more solid and lasts longer. it is pretty expensive but it smells good, doesnt come wrapped in annoying plastic, and i like the cute honeycomb wax they put on the outside (peel it off first, or it's scratch!). it doesn't dry my skin and leaves me feeling soft and clean. won't live without it or the solid perfume in the same scent.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Dream Cream
lareinarumbera 6/23/2009 12:13:00 PM
i love what this lotion does for my skin. i apply it at night after my shower and it moisturizes all the way until i shower again! i like the ice-cream container type of thing it comes in, except if you get lotion on the inside of the lid you can get some very icky dried up lotion gunk on the edges :( the scent is unobtrusive and reminds me of my beloved and now discontinued skin sin. i love this stuff! you only need a tiny bit, so it works out not being too expensive. also calms rashes and sunburn.

Lotions/ Creams -LUSH - Vanilla Dee-lite
lareinarumbera 6/23/2009 12:11:00 PM
i really wanted to like this, because i'm a big fan of lush in general... and it had such a nice, soft vanilla-y smell that wasn't overpowering... but for my superdry skin it's not moisturizing enough. i still like it but for the price i think i'll stick with dream cream, which you need way less of to get the same moisturizing effects. it's still nicer for someone who wants a lighter lotion or isn't as dry as i am though! smells soft and like vanilla ice cream, but not synthetic or cloying.

Fragrances -LUSH - Honey I Washed the Kids Solid Perfume
lareinarumbera 6/23/2009 1:06:00 AM
i love HIWTK soap so i got this after sniffing it. it makes me feel calm and comforted. it's a bit of a powdery/lemony smell with a bit of honeyed nougat-y sort of stuff. definitely CLEAN but sweet - not overly foody/nauseating or toilet bowl cleaner clean. more clean than foody on me - inoffensive and subtle enough that people only smell it if you're close (perfect for offices wher eyou don't want to be a cloud of flowers and scent) i like the idea of a solid fragrance, but be careful in the sumer - the high oil content = potential to melt. the tins can get a bit jammed up and isn't as pretty as i wished it was, but hey, i love lush! the price is great considering how long the tin actually lasts. definitely cheaper than a lot of dept store perfumes and better lasting power too. also it is vegan, organic and skin softening!

Lip Treatments -MAC - Tinted Lip Conditioner- Fuchsia Fix
lareinarumbera 6/22/2009 5:45:00 PM
this is my favorite TLC. i had a pot of the gentle coral in the old container (the kind with the white lid) for two years - yet didn't hit pan, but eventually i got rid of it because i thought it was pretty unhygenic. now i wanted to find an everyday type of lippie that had sunscreen but wasn't too sticky so i turned to this. the fuchsia fix fits my fair skin very well and the blue-pink whitens/brightens the teeth a bit. it does make my lips feel soft and supple and imparts a sheer wash of fuchsia (i'm a big fan of red and fuchsia lippies but won't wear it for school or the office) - it's a nice way to do a punchy, sheer lip. only thing is i wish it was glossier, but since it's a balm, not a gloss, it does leave a nice soft sheen. i just layer it with clinique superbalm gloss in grapefruit, which is a nice, blue pink to layer above it, without altering the sheerness of the color. one star off because i HATE the pot it comes in. it's bulky and unhygenic but i love the color inside so i'll deal with it. i carry an anna sui covered lip brush just to apply it but i wish they were like the strobe balms that came in a stick... :( for the amount of product the price is ok... although it's still not cheap.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Sun Protecting Lip Balm SPF 8 with Passionfruit
lareinarumbera 6/10/2009 12:47:00 PM
i'm a fan of the original burt's bees so i was hoping i would like this product for using under my lip gloss in the summer. i am quite fair but it left my lips looking whitish (which did not help the fact i did not sleep much) and when i layered my lip gloss over it the whitish stuff made my lips look chalky and weird. i think i'll just stick to nivea sunscreen lip balm spf 30 or MAC lip conditioning stick spf 15 (i hate pot lip balms, they're so icky - GERMS)... and keep the original burt's for when it's not so sunny out.

Fragrances -Etat Libre D'Orange - Rossy de Palma
lareinarumbera 6/7/2009 6:49:00 PM
i get a lot of black pepper, something incense-y and a lot of rose. overall, i loved it - this is my nighttime fragrance to wear with a black dress and red lipstick. everyone smells it and asks what it is. on me it is almost an edible, rich rose/black pepper scent with a little bit of incense and patchouli, but totally not cloying. i will buy this again, but in the fall, since i find it a bit too warm for the summer. in the summer i stick with bulgari blu, issey miyake l'eau d'issey and estee lauder private collection tuberose gardenia. the packaging is a little cheesy with the chinese dragon and all that, an SA who didn't know anything about perfume recommended it to me because i was asian - i tried so hard to not laugh!

Blush -NARS - Orgasm Blush
lareinarumbera 6/7/2009 6:42:00 PM
by far, the best blush i have used. it's got shimmer but it's not reflective like some shimmery blush, and makes me look healthy and awake (NC 15 skin). i like this as a warm pink, and bobbi brown pink sugar as a cool pink. the price is a pain, but it lasts and lasts. i also like it in the multiple, for quick and lazy makeup.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Superbalm Moisturizing Glosses
lareinarumbera 6/4/2009 5:12:00 PM
i have this in two colors, apricot and grapefruit. great non-sticky, silky texture. i like the fact that it is very natural looking on the lips, not gluey/tacky and tasteless. apricot has just a hint more color on the lips and grapefruit is almost clear but both look gorgeous even on a bare face. it soothes lips when they're cracked and burning and layers great over other lip colors that can be drying. i wish it came with spf like longwearing glosswear spf 15 (which i have in bamboo pink and cabana crush) but i just layer it with burt's bees spf 8 lip balm or mac lip conditioner stick spf 15 so that my lips don't burn. overall, great for the office and low key/casual looks that make you put together but not too done up. apricot is very similar to NARS lip gloss in chihuahua in my opinion, except it is a bit thicker and moisturizes better. i would buy this again since the tube is huge and it will last a long time.

Lip Gloss -Clinique - Cabana Crush
lareinarumbera 6/4/2009 5:05:00 PM
great color for the summer - just like you sucked a popsicle and the coral/pink stain is on your lips. it's bright but not overwhelming and looks good even with minimal makeup. a bit tacky but since it's long wearing no complains about that. it was a bit on the pricey side but the tube is a generous size and you don't have to reapply all the time so it will last me through the summer and maybe even more. love the spf, so i went and got the bamboo pink also, which is also super gorgeous. both colors weren't garish on my fair asian skin tone (NC15) and although i wish it were flavored the lack of taste is just fine (some unflavored glosses like NARS taste a bit chemical-y). doesn't dry out your lips and visibly plumps them a little too. would buy again, but will try and get it duty free!
