Lip Treatments -Labello - Pearl & Shine

Ugh. No. I didn't buy this, got it with a magazine, and I'm so glad I didn't shell out! Horrible, waxy, way too thick, and makes your lips look, not pearly, but corpse-like and as if covered in slightly metallic wax. Stay far away! Such a pity, the more old-school Labellos are wonderful.

Lip Treatments -Palmers - Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Peppermint Lip Butter

Fabulous! See my review for the Dark Chocolate and Cherry version. This one will be great for those who found the cherry slightly too much. This is like eating an after-dinner chocolate-mint-thin. Absolutely perfect.

Fantastic stuff! The consistency is perfect, shiny-smooth but not plastic-shiny. The smell!! Out of this world, like one of those chocolate-covered cherries in Kirsch. And it moisturises just as one wishes. Overall: fabulous. My one and only gripe is that it's not the easiest task to get this stuff out of the tube (though the slanted tip is perfect). You sort of have to strain, and I keep worrying it'll pop. But hey, been through two tubes and no popping yet!

Fragrances -Sonia Rykiel - Le Parfum
rated 5 of 5
hesterC 6/11/2008 3:30:00 AM

This line is confusing with the names! This is the one simply called 'Le Parfum' on the Rykiel website, in the squat, roundish bottle with a square cap. My mom bought this for me, on order, in Belgium. It is hugely expensive in Europe (when coming from South Africa, anyway), so I'm jealous of all you folks on here who can buy it at online discount! Anyway. This is a ballsy perfume!! Don't go near it if you're shy, blonde, girly or very young. Notes are, from the Rykiel website: HEAD NOTE Hinoki Wood Mimosa Passion Flower HEART NOTE Osmanthus from China Rose de mai Iris from Tuscany BASE NOTE Tonka Bean Ambery woods Vanilla On me, this is basically all wood, with a very little amber. I don't get the florals clearly at all. When applied lightly, this is a lovely, womanly, full-bodied scent, powerful but well-mannered. Apply too much (like, 3 spritzes) and she'll take over your life for the entire day and night! Dry, woody goodness: if that's your style, try this one today!

Moisturizers -L'Oreal - Happyderm [DISCONTINUED]
rated 4 of 5

Great stuff! Smell, texture, packaging, price: it's all there. I'm still young and don't have particularly problematic skin, so I can't say this stuff does anything majorly impressive, but I find it an effective, extremely pleasant moisturiser. The whole Clarins-technique of patting on moisturiser is also outlined in the Happyderm insert; they apparently belong to the same company, which gives me renewed confidence in L'Oreal (Clarins is the BEST)! I think if you actually did the patting-routine, Happyderm would certainly make you feel all tingly and happy and well. The smell greatly contributes: it's slightly boozy, sweet and interesting, unlike any others I've smelled.

Cleansers -L'Oreal - Happyderm Cleansing Mousse Normal and Oily
rated 5 of 5

Fabulous stuff! It gets most everything off, plus it smells and feels heavenly. The thick-mousse texture is wonderful to use (after you've learnt the trick of not pressing at all hard, so you're not swamped in the stuff; the nozzle is somewhat over-eager). It seems to help keep my slightly oily face's moisture balance in check. I wouldn't fancy going back to non-mousse cleaners now! EDIT: HORRORS! This has disappeared off South African shelves! Does anyone know whether it's discontinued! Alack!

Treatments -Clarins - Beauty Flash Balm

I love this stuff. Mainly, if I'm honest, for the smell! But no, it really does work, not miracles, but some. It seems to tighten pores and provide a good base for make-up. It does bother me that, if you rub hard over it, you get little frimmle-things, little gritty bits sort-of. But certainly try this if you're after a smoother effect, short-term.

Treatments (Eye) -BeneFit Cosmetics - EyeCon
rated 1 of 5

Yeah... this does nothing but moisturise a bit. Thankfully I didn't buy this but got a sample at my previous job. Seriously, this is such a blah-product. I have some darkness under the eyes: no effect whatsoever. And cute as the little pot is, is that really hygienic? It gets under your fingernails, too - waste! Nope, this is not a winner.

Awful! First few minutes: Tommy Girl with a good shot of rosewater. Then for a few minutes: powerful rosepetal honey. Then all this together for what seems forever! I cannot wash it off! It hates me! If you love Tommy Girl, you'll adore this. I abhorr it.
