Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Eye Pencils
fihe 8/19/2010 3:07:00 AM
I give these a 4 because I find that they are not good as eyeliner since they are creamy/waxy and always get stuck in my eyelashes when I try to line my eyes with them. however, their redeeming quality is that they are EXCELLENT for use as eyebrow pencils, because the consistency makes the brow hairs stay in place while filling in sparse areas. I use the color Taupe to fill in my brows. I buy these when they're on sale at my local supermarket for 69¢. can't beat that!

Eye Shadow -Jordana - Eye Shadow Pencil- Spring Flowers
fihe 8/10/2010 2:34:00 AM
this is a shimmery light-medium lavender-pink eyeshadow pencil. I bought it for use on my waterline to make me look more awake. I have found that it works :) it stays put for a pretty long time, and I also noticed that it is quite pigmented, especially when swatched on the hand. and it only cost me $2! here's a swatch of it: http://i596.photobucket.com/albums/tt48/fihe/swatches/SDC11077.jpg that is ELF All Over Color Stick in Lilac Petal on the top and the Jordana eye pencil on the bottom. notice how it's a bit more purple. UPDATE 09/10/10: I also find that it makes an excellent eyeshadow base! makes the colors look bright and more dimensional. UPDATE 10/04/10: lowered from 5 lippies to 3, only because sharpening this pencil is a disaster! the wood is bad quality so it causes the wood to splinter off when I try to sharpen it. I sharpened it just once this morning and already half the pencil was gone just from that! I'll stick to NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils because they give great color and they're a breeze to sharpen, for only $1-2 more.

Eye Shadow -New York Color - City Duet in Upper Zest Side
fihe 8/5/2010 4:34:00 PM
this is a matte yellow and orange. very bright. at first I was kinda skeptical that a $3 eyeshadow duo would have enough pigment and staying power, but when used with Meow i-prime, it stays on for a very long time! I love the bright, flamboyant colors of this duo, and for just $3, I would buy it again for myself, and for friends too!

Eye Shadow -Cover Girl - Smokey Shadowblast in Citrus Flair
fihe 8/4/2010 2:36:00 PM
the reason why I give this a 3 is because I have found that it fades off and creases too quickly if I use it alone. unfortunately part of the bronze side (pointed-tip side) broke off, but I stuck it back on and it seems to be ok for now. but I don't think the lime green and bronze go together at all! however, I do like to use these as eyeshadow bases. they do crease a bit that way but they still work to intensify the eyeshadow colors. still, I don't think I'd buy it again though. :( UPDATE 09/29/10: the entire bronze side broke off -_- so I guess now I only have a lime green stick for a base. oh well

Lipstick -Revlon - Matte Lipstick - Nude Attitude
fihe 8/3/2010 12:54:00 AM
Barf. I was looking for a nude lipstick from Revlon when my local CVS was having a sale on Revlon products, and I thought this would be perfect. unfortunately, it makes my lips look dry and crusty no matter how much I exfoliate them and it's just NOT flattering. I'm not sure if it has to do with it being matte, because I also have the matte lipstick in Pink Pout and it's much better. I guess the search for the perfect nude lipstick is still on...maybe I'll have better luck with Revlon's Colorburst lipstick in Soft Nude. :P

Lipstick -Revlon - Revlon Matte-Pink Pout
fihe 8/3/2010 12:51:00 AM
I originally got this as part of a BOGO sale with the Nude Attitude lipstick. I was primarily looking for a nude lipstick but then saw this too and decided I might as well try it since it was free with the sale. interestingly enough, I hate the Nude Attitude lipstick (read my review on that) and LOVE this! it's a really nice bright pink that I especially like to wear with my favorite hot pink zebra-print t-shirt :) even though it's a matte lipstick I don't find it drying. I'd buy it again!

Lipstick -NYX - Round Lipstick Power
fihe 8/3/2010 12:42:00 AM
now obviously this color isn't all that wearable being that it's essentially a lavender shade, but I really like it for when I want some color on an otherwise natural or even a naked face. the formula is moisturizing and seems to be decently long-wearing. I give it 5 lippies because it saves me on my no-makeup days! :) if you plan to put it on full strength as opposed to just dabbing it on, use a liner! I don't currently have one but I hear Jordana Easyliner in Silver Lilac is the perfect complement to this lipstick.

Brows -Wet 'n' Wild - kohl/ eyeliner/ brow
fihe 7/24/2010 7:31:00 PM
I have this pencil in Taupe. I got it on sale for only 69¢! after seeing Aubrey (fafinettex3) feature this in one of her videos, I figured I should try it, especially since she typically prefers high-end products. I have used some of WnW's eyeliners in the past and disliked their waxy feel, but that is an advantage when using it for the eyebrows since it makes the hairs stay in place. this color is great for natural-looking brows and it's the best eyebrow pencil I've ever used! UPDATE 07/19/12: I stopped using this eyebrow pencil for a while and recently started using it again. I found that I like Taupe for a natural look and Dark Brown for when I am wearing more dramatic eye makeup. they only look too red if I use too much, so I make sure to use a light hand and then use a brow brush or spoolie to blend it into my brows.

Eye Shadow -Revlon - Colorstay 12-Hour Eyeshadow Quad "Blushed Wines"
fihe 7/24/2010 7:27:00 PM
this eyeshadow quad is magnificent! I bought it because I thought the colors were unique and beautiful. and they stay on all day! I'm gonna try using these with colored eyeshadow bases to see if I can add even more depth and interest to the colors! UPDATE 12/26/10: I've been using this for a while now and it's become one of my favorite eyeshadow quads :)

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
fihe 7/24/2010 7:21:00 PM
Great product! it reminds me a lot of my Avon Super Shock mascara I used to have, down to the huge brush with rubber bristles. this stuff makes my eyelashes beautifully long and black! and voluminous :) just one coat is good enough!

Eyeliner -Rimmel - Exaggerate Eye Crayon - Untamed
fihe 7/24/2010 7:12:00 PM
I got this a few years ago on clearance at Kmart. it's a light greyish-purple which I find cannot be worn by itself as it doesn't seem to be pigmented enough. however, today I dug it up and I found that it works nicely as an eyeshadow base. I used it with my CG Tapestry Taupe, and it provided somewhat of a, well, greyish-purple tint to the eyeshadow. it also has helped the eyeshadow stay on all day, even in the hot weather! so I gave the eye pencil 3 lippies because it does work, but only in conjunction with other items.

Concealers -Almay - line smoothing concealer
fihe 7/24/2010 7:04:00 PM
I really like this concealer, especially for use under the eyes. I'm only 21 but I bought the line smoothing type because I don't want it to emphasize the creases everyone has in their undereye area. I have the color Light, which was one of the only concealers I could find that wasn't apparently yellow; it's more of a peach which is great for covering dark circles in my experience. it doesn't make the dark circles completely disappear (but maybe that's because I also have bags, which has to do with the texture of the skin?) but it certainly helps make them less noticeable. for a natural look, instead of doing a full face of foundation, I like to use this concealer under my eyes, around my nose, and on blemishes, and wear some pressed powder. looks great! UPDATE 8/25/10: I've found that wearing this concealer on my blemishes without foundation makes my skin look orange. I guess that's because of the pinkish-peach tone. however, I will keep the rating as a 5 because I use it primarily for dark circles and prefer a peach-toned concealer for that purpose. :)

Makeup Brushes -Bare Escentuals - Kabuki Brush
fihe 7/23/2010 10:26:00 AM
I bought this a few years ago on eBay when I started using mineral makeup. I figured a brush from Bare Escentuals would be good since that's supposed to be a very good brand of mineral makeup. I think I paid $18 for it, which was pretty expensive for me considering I was still in high school at the time. well, I've washed it a few times over the years (I don't use it all that much) and it seems to have lost its effect. it's supposed to be a full coverage brush but lately I've been using it again and I noticed it hardly puts any makeup on my face (I use Meow). I think something must have happened when I washed it. I therefore give this brush 2 lippies because for the price I paid for it, it should be better than this.

Lip Gloss -New York Color - Liquid Lip Shine
fihe 7/17/2010 3:00:00 AM
My favorite lip gloss! non-sticky, smells like vanilla, comes in a wide variety of great colors, and only $2 so it's no big deal if I lose it. unfortunately, the swatches on the website are extremely inaccurate, but we're rating the product here, not the website :) I currently have Pink Sand and Sheer Ruby. Pink Sand is a frosty golden pink that I wear very often. I use Sheer Ruby, a beautiful sheer red, when I want red lips without quite so much drama as lipstick. I love these so much that I also bought two for a friend as a gift! CVS has BOGO sales on these pretty often so snatch them up then! with the price you can afford to buy one in every color!

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Stiletto Accenting Cream Eyeshadow in Bright Lights
fihe 7/14/2010 6:16:00 PM
I bought this on clearance at CVS for only like $1.60. I felt I could use a white pencil as an eyeshadow base. well, today I decided to wear it alone and put it on my eyelids and also along my bottom lashline. well, on the bottom lashline it didn't look too good because it got stuck in my eyelashes. however, the reason I give it 4 lippies is because unlike any other cream shadow I've used, this does not crease. even though it rained today and was very humid, this shadow stayed put. and this is with no powder shadow on top to set it! now if only my foundation could stand a chance against humidity...
