Eyeliner -L'Oreal - HIP Color Truth Cream Eyeliner in Black
chowchowface 2/12/2008 1:25:00 PM
The brush that this comes with is a joke, but that's the only bad thing I can say about this eyeliner! I bought it after reading many reviews. I figured that even though its merely only a few dollars less than MAC's fluidline or Stila Smudgepots, the fact that this is in a nearby drugstore adds to the convenience. I love the texture, it's very smooth but not greasy. I had a bad experience with Smashbox cream eyeliners creasing big-time on me so I was worried that this would do the same. Fortunately, once you put it on, it stays there for quite a long time! The color is really dense and dark, so it goes on pretty evenly. This is the first HIP eyeliner I bought and, as you can imagine, I practically ran back to the drugstore to get some more.

Lip Gloss -The Body Shop - Cranberry Lip Balm
chowchowface 2/12/2008 1:03:00 AM
I love this gloss/balm. I got it in a set but didn't even break the seal off until a few months ago. It has a very nice scent that isn't overbearing and the texture is very very smooth. The shimmer and reddish tint are very subtle but complimentary to many makeup looks. I wish they still sold this in the stores. :(

Eyeliner -E.L.F. - Brightening Eyeliner
chowchowface 2/12/2008 1:00:00 AM
The actual liner doesn't bother me as much as the cap! On mine, the cap wouldn't even stay on so I didn't bother to keep it. I trashed it because, for $1, why not? I tried the pencil on my hand just to see how it was and it seemed alright to me. Unfortunately, I knew that if the cap couldn't stay on while bouncing around in my train case, it was practically useless. :(

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Blunt Eye Shadow

This eyeshadow is a gorgeous must-have for ANY skin tone. It's a muted but shimmery soft gold. The texture is so smooth and extremely blendable. I wish that every eyeshadow had this specific texture! It's great as a highlighter. I use it all of the time; it is easily one of my most-used eyeshadows.

Eye Shadow -Shiseido - Hydro Powder Eyeshadow in Violet Visions H1
chowchowface 2/11/2008 7:46:00 PM
I bought this, not really giving a second thought to the price (I bought it with a gift card). Looking back, I realize that it's probably more expensive than I would normally pay but it's totally worth it! Violet Visions is a subdued but gorgeous purple e/s. It's not insanely vibrant but to me, it's just right. It's perfect for using as a base or alone, depending on what look you're going for. Also, the texture is a dream. I've never used "cream to powder" cosmetics before and was a bit wary, since most creamy things tend to crease on me (even with a base). However, this had a wonderfully silky finish and lasts all day without any creasing! While the price may be a bit more than most e/s, you really get what you pay for. :)

Lip Gloss -Jordana - Lip Jelly Juicy Tints in butterscotch
chowchowface 2/11/2008 6:13:00 PM
I have to say, first of all, I LOVE this product! When applied, it gives a slightly shimmery and nice sheen. It doesn't have that "wet gloss" look but the shine it does provide is very appropriate for casual or professional situations. Also, for the price, it is very long-lasting and not drying at all. The scent is so-so but it wears off fairly quickly.

Eyes -L'Oreal - L'Oreal HIP Color Rich Cream Crayon, Unmistakable 142
chowchowface 2/11/2008 4:40:00 PM
I normally wouldn't buy anything like this, since my eyes tend to crease ANYTHING that's cream/crayon based. However, during a BOGOF sale at CVS for L'Oreal's HIP line, I decided to give this a try. I was completely surprised. This eyeliner/shadow stays PUT and is borderline difficult to remove (esp. w/o eye makeup remover). It's a gorgeous red color that works well as a base for anything reddish or reddish brown. I am looking forward to any other BOGOF sales of HIP products because I really want to try some other shades! :)

Eye Shadow -NARS - Eye Shadow in Night Flight
chowchowface 2/11/2008 4:08:00 PM
I bought this thinking it'd be a really glam black w/ blue shimmer. Unfortunately, the blue shimmer was hardly apparent at all once I applied it. Using this as a black eye shadow, I have no complaints. It's gorgeous and very easy to blend. I would recommend applying it wet to make the shimmer stand out more, but (if applied liberally) you'd probably look like you had a black eye! However, it's great when used wet as a liner. Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous! :)

Fragrances -Bath and Body Works - Sensual Amber Body Splash
chowchowface 2/11/2008 4:02:00 PM
This scent is very heavy, but sensual and sweet. Unfortunately, it's not the scent itself (which I LOVE LOVE LOVE) that I have a problem with. It's the splash. The splash has little to no staying power whatsoever. Still, I think this is only apparent in this scent, since i own another body splash in another fragrance and it lasts many many times longer. I have had no skin irritation or other complaints, though.

Polishes -Revlon - Frankly Scarlet

This is a great deep (but not matte) red shade. It's sexy and sultry but still fun (thanks to the gold-ish shimmer). I find that it stays on longer with Sally Hansen bottom + top coat.

Lip Gloss -Bonne Bell - Squeezy Lip Smacker
chowchowface 2/10/2008 11:45:00 PM
I bought this mostly because of my nostalgic feelings towards anything lip-smacker. I didn't really care if it was a good gloss or not, I just wanted a little piece of my childhood. :) Luckily, I ended up not only with a *priceless* piece of nostalgia but also a pretty good gloss! The scent is wonderful (I have good ole strawberry) and the packaging is adorable. What I find to be really ironic is the Lip Smackers has the convenient slanted-tip applicator while certain "grown up" cosmetics (i.e. l'oreal colour juice lip gloss) still have that silly ball-tip applicator. I also like the fact that it moisturizes pretty well and lasts a decent amount of time.

Lips -Burt's Bees - Radiance Lip Shimmer
chowchowface 2/10/2008 11:40:00 PM
I bought this on a whim at Ulta a few days ago, excited that I found a nice shimmery balm. However, the "shimmer" (or lack thereof) disappointed me. On bare lips, it merely looked like any other lip balm. I haven't layered it yet, but since I don't really wear matte lipstick, I can't see myself using it in that way. As far as the texture and scent goes, it's very smooth, much like the regular Burt's Bees lip balm. Oh well, so much for impulse buying! :)

Lip Gloss -C.O. Bigelow - Mentha Lip Tint 1136 Nude
chowchowface 2/10/2008 11:31:00 PM
First of all, I have to say that I LOVE this stuff! The texture is wonderfully silky and the color (only a slight tint really) is gorgeous. It is almost universally complimentary to any makeup look that you happen to be sporting. The lasting power is so-so, I'm not going to lie. It isn't wonderful but it isn't terrible either. However, I LOVE that it is very moisturizing even after the shine has worn off. It is more moisturizing than a lot of balms I own, even. It has the mentha-shine peppermint scent and tingly-ness, but I'm sure that is a given. :) It's perfect for everyday casual wear, since it goes with nearly everything and takes good care of your lips.

Lip Treatments -The Body Shop - Lip Butter
chowchowface 2/10/2008 9:56:00 PM
I spent $10 for two of these (mango and almond) and the one upside; they smell heavenly! The scent it deceiving, however. When they first go on, they're very greasy and light. The taste (which I usually don't care too much about) tasted slightly floral and perfume-y. It was pretty gross and that bothered me a little bit. The lasting power is about half an hour on me, which, for a lip balm, is pretty unacceptable. Also, they hardly moisturize at all. Once they wear off, it almost seems like my lips are less moisturized than when I put it on (and I've never said that about a balm/gloss before). Overall, these are not good at all. Scent alone is not good enough for a lip balm. :)

Lipstick -MAC - Slimshine in Bare ] [DISCONTINUED]
chowchowface 2/10/2008 8:50:00 PM
Gor-geous! I, as well as many other people, love the idea of a lipstick and a lip gloss in one. "Bare" is very neutral, very sheer. I have fairly pigmented lips so "bare" seems to mostly add shine instead of color. However, I do notice a sincere difference with it on. Definitely YLBB. It's very moisturizing and not drying at all. A nice change from regular lipstick. :)
