Treatments -Christian Dior - Dior Prestige Revitalizing Serum
beautynyc 10/30/2005 3:00:00 AM
I thought I might find a real power-packed serum with this one, I was WRONG AGAIN! This serum has a beautiful texture, absorbs quickly and smells so good I can't stand it. However, I saw no improvement in my skin whatsoever. For a $180.00 serum, it should have at least some effect on your skin, no? The whole Dior Prestige range is gorgeous. Product and packaging is wondeful, but results...eh? It's just Dior's "me too" line to compete with La Mer, Sisley, CLe de Peau etc. I highly doubt that the results from their less expensive items are any better. If they'd only bring back the Resultante line, now those were great products!
Treatments (Eye) -Shiseido - Shiseido Benefiance Eye Masks
beautynyc 10/30/2005 2:54:00 AM
LOVE THIS PRODUCT! It completely erases my fine lines around my eyes, soothes and cools as well. I'll let the cat out of the bag....this it 95% the same as the Cle de Peau Intensive Treatment masks that I wrote about. Compare ingredient listings. There are only 2 companies that make this "gel-sheet" type mask, both in Japan. As I said about the Cle de Peau mask, don't leave this eye mask on longer than the directions state as moisture could start to be absorbed back into the gel patch. This is a keeper!
If you haven't tried this product, you must. It's a recipe based on an old recipe of one of the queens of Hungary ( I forgot which one ). This is a mixture of floral and grape waters with some essential oils mixed in. You must shake well before spraying to blend the water and oil. I use this after my toner for an extra boost and to soothe the skin. It also works as a refresher any time of the day. It has a refreshing minty-rosemary scent that is quite unique. Never saw a product like this. I keep one on hand all the time. We used to empty a bottle a week in one of the stores I worked in. Everybody sprayed their faces all day. This is a must have item, even if you use other skin care. Try it!
Cleansers -Chanel - Nourishing Cleansing Gel - Cream - Rinse Off
beautynyc 10/30/2005 2:38:00 AM
You simply must try this cleanser! As a big fan of the Shiseido and Kanebo Cleansing Creams, I was hesitant about this, but WOW it's superb! This feels heavenly going on, and it has that melting texture that I like. This liquifies all makeup and leaves a cushion of moisture behind when rinsed off. You'll have to take my word for it, this cleanser is great and it's not too expensive as a little goes a long way. I suggest it for makeup removal, so you would not need to use it in the AM. A definite must try!
FINALLY! A Chanel serum that doesn't ball-up and roll off the skin! Bravo! it only took 29 years! Anyway, this serum is a marvelous texture that melts into the skin. This serum works to firm and retxturize. It also helps encourage collagen production. I think this is a great product, I loved Ultra-Correction Serum except for that "rolling" problem. I do highly recommend the whole Rectifiane Intense line. It's some of Chanel's best skin care.
Fragrances -Agent Provocateur - Agent Provocateur EDP
beautynyc 10/30/2005 2:27:00 AM
This fragrance is really something! It might smell a bit weird out of the bottle, but it wears beautifully. You WILL get compliments. Here's a hint: for an added kick, mix this with Chanel's Coco Eau de Parfum, NOT the Eau de Toilette, It MUST be the Eau de Parfum. The mix is heavenly and intoxicating. Learned this from a friend in London. Try it!
Moisturizers -Yves Saint Laurent - Temp Majeur Moisturizer
beautynyc 10/27/2005 12:32:00 AM
Yet another disappointment for YSL Beaute. Temps Majeur's star ingredient is Ganoderma Lucidum, or Mannetake Mushroom extract. This is supposed to be yet another collagen stimulating, firming, all-around anti-aging cream. Well, I finished an entire jar and saw absolutely no change in my skin. For $265.00, I expect more than a nice texture and pleasant scent. Having worked close to this line in a few stores, I will tell you, for the most part, their skin care products gather dust. I rarely saw any of it sell. It's color and fragrance that YSL is known for. Now, 5 years after Terry de Gunzburg's departure as crative director of their color range, even that's not great any more. Oh, well.....
Moisturizers -Yves Saint Laurent - Hydratant Absolu / Absolute Hydrtation
beautynyc 10/27/2005 12:02:00 AM
This product is way too sticky, and the feeling lasts until you wash it off. With it being in the range for at least 10 years, it should have gone through a re-formulation to get rid of the sticky texture it has. If you're looking for a hydrating product, then try Chanel's Hydramax+ Serum. A similar product with the same benefits without the stickiness. Would not purchase again.
Skincare - Face -Cle de Peau - Soin Intensif - Intensive Treatment
beautynyc 10/24/2005 3:13:00 PM
Although I can't comprehend spending $475.00 for La Creme, I highly recommend this weekly treatment! Soin Intensif is a once a week intensive treatment for the skin. You use this in place of everything else you normally use. I call it "cheat night". After cleansing, apply vial No.1 which is an exfoliating essence ( stronger than Clarifying Serum). Next, apply vial No.2, which is an intensive essence which will nourish, protect and hydrate the skin. Last, apply the facial mask which comes in two pieces so you can get a perfect fit on your face. The gel type mask will force the ingredients in the intensive essence deep into the skin. DO NOT LEAVE ON MORE THAN TEN MINUTES! After ten minutes, the gel mask may have a tendency to re-absorb moisture from the skin. After ten minutes, peel off the two mask pieces and throw them away. DO NOT APPLY ANYTHING ELSE, JUST GO TO BED. Take a look at your skin the next morning...you'll be in for a most pleasant surprise! Worth the $120.00 price tag.
Sunscreen -Clarins - UV PLUS Protective Day Screen SPF 40
beautynyc 10/24/2005 3:03:00 PM
For those of you who can't take high SPFs on your skin, try this out. I was looking for something with a total block that would not make my skin irritated and this did the trick. The titanium dioxide is so micronized that you really can't see it. I was afraid of looking ghostly but it didn't happen. This product is extremely lightweight and it also contains white tea extract to further protect the skin. I will definitely re-purchase.
For those of you who remember by Terry from it's Fall 1999 launch at Saks Fifth Avenue, you'll remember the original range of lipsticks Terry had. I will tell you, I never, ever, ever used anything like them. You could literally apply one of her sheers UNDER a cream and the color would NOT move! They were awesome!!! I should know, I was the one selling them! Fast forward to 2005. Either the supplier she was getting those lipsticks from either discontinued making them, or, she decided to go with another manufacturer. This new line of Rouge Opulent is garbage compared to the old formulations. The old formula wore like iron, and the new ones pale in comparison. On top of that, she never improved her deluxe "jewel" lipstick cases. The mechanisms are crap and they always fall apart. Don't waste your money on these, there are plent of other prestige brands with more staying power. She never took my advice when I told her to never stop carrying the original formulas and to improve the cases. Oh, well, I guess she considered me just another "stupid American" and she, being French, knew best!
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DON'T FALL FOR THIS CRAPOLA!!! The whole idea behind this product was for it to be a base for lipstick. Since it's a thick coating, it supposedly would give a "plump" look to your lips when applied. It's nothing but concealer, and a poor one at that. It will also KILL any great lip color you put over it because of all the flesh-toned pigments in it. a sure-fire way to ruin your fave lipstick shade. This counter was right across the aisle from mine years ago and I was constantly horrified at what this product did to women's lipstick. AVOID!!!
All I can say to the women out there is: MEN DROOL OVER THIS STUFF! The fragrance is a bit strong at first, but the dry-down is exquisite. Try the body powder with the pink sparkles in it. DIVINE! This is definitely an attention getter! Wear it out at night and see what happens.....
Skincare - Face -Cle de Peau - Emulsion Eclat - Clarifying Emulsion
beautynyc 10/23/2005 3:34:00 AM
This is a great hydrating product as well as a gentle exfoliant. I use this once in a while when I feel my skin needs it. It's got a great texture and it doesn't lay on the surface like La Creme. It's great as a mask and on airplanes. I happen to use Re Vive Serum Protectif and Moisturizing Renewal Cream, both of which have generous amounts of Glycolic Acid in them, so when I feel like giving my skin a break, I use this under my moisturizers, sometimes alone. The L-Serine in this product is what does BOTH the hydrating AND exfoliating. If you want more exfoliation, use Serum Eclat - Clarifying Serum instead. Remember to use the Serum BEFORE your Balancing Lotion step. The Emulsion is used AFTER Balancing Lotion.
If you want to wake up in the morning, use this stuff in your shower! This smells exactly like fresh grapefruit, and it's ultra refreshing! I wish it came in a pump dispenser, that cap gets a bit annoying. Overall, this has become my new favorite Perlier shower gel.....until the whip up something else I'll flip for! It'll be hard to top this one though.
