Foundations -Revlon - ColorStay Makeup with SoftFlex SPF 6 for Combination/Oily Skin
Tashina 3/13/2012 9:02:00 PM
I have been scouering product review boards and blogs looking for the best foundations for the past couple of weeks. I think have read at least 100 reviews and at least 50 times, if not more, the products were compared to revlon colorstay. So I broke down and grabbed a bottle and to see what all the fuss was about. I was surprised to see they had a color that almost matched me. While it is pretty much light enough it has a pink base and while I am more neutral colored I can do yellow a little better than pink. I put this on and the pink was not so noticeable. I am on day 2 of this and it has held up on my cheeks, temples, bridge of the nose and between the eyes well. It isn't separating but it is gone over the rest of mt nose and on the top oc my forehead mear my hairline. The color has gotten slightly darker over the course of the day. I hate that. That is my main problem in the first place. My skin is not bad. I have some redness but not too bad. I have freckles but I don't mind them. They are just across my nose and cheek bones and are light and cute. What I hate about my skin is that my neck and decolate and the rest of my body is very fair/pale. My face for some reason has an almost slightly tan unevenness about it and it looks like I wear makeup that is not the right shade. So I always pick a shade that matches my neck so my face and neck match. So when I put on a foundation and half way through the day it darkens, that is my #1 pet peeve. My second problem with this is it looked like it just sits on my skin no matter how I apply it. It looks like makeup. I think it just dries too fast to blend it well and I ended up putting on a little too much so it just looks like makeup, not good skin. Third problem is the mask look gets worse when I apply powder. I have tried 4 powders that I keep around and have grabbed recently and none looked good with this. Lastly the minor stuff: the packaging sucks. I hate bottles that don't have a pump or aren't squeeze. It makes it difficult to get product without making a mess and I just don't like it. I am going to give this the rest of the week to see if I change my mind but overall, I don't think I will be using up this product or buying it again.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Super Stay 14 Hr
Tashina 3/13/2012 8:05:00 PM
I have never been much of a lipstick person. I hate having to use a mirror to reapply and getting it on my teeth and I have weird shaped lips (this I have been told is all in my head) so I usually lean more toward more pigmented glosses than lipstick. I have been wanting a red lipstick though and thought I would give these a shot. I have a friend that has several colors and loves them. I inherited 3 reds: Ravishing rouge, timeless crimson & Continuous cranberry. All 3 are very pretty reds. Timeless crimson is way too deep for me but beautiful. I wish I could pull it off. I am very pale and it came off as a little blood suckerish. Continuous cranberry is really pretty deeper red that works really nicely and I would wear it for a night out. Ravishing rouge is perfect brighter red with a slight pink that is great for daytime and work. I have has them in my drawer for several weeks and I put them on for a few minutes and take them off and never get out of the house with them on. Today I grew a pair and wore rouge and got a lot of compliments. They feel fine on. Not drying but not moisturizing either. They lasted really well. I wont give them 14 hours but I constantly drink water or coffee or something and it was about 3.5 hours before I had to touch uP and it wasn't much. It transferred to my cup but you couldn't tell by looking at my lips. I also talk a lot at work and it still held up nicely. It gives a satin finish. I think for someone who doesn't compulsively drink as much as I do all day this would last a very long time. It didn't come off on my teeth at all. Overall I really like it. The price is steep though. $9 seems like a lot at the drugstore. I think I will pick the beige color and The plum one.

Eyeliner -Physicians Formula - Shimmer strips custom eye enhancing eyeliner trio

I Bought 2 L'Oreal eyeliners in carbon black because I have the carbon black mascara and love the dark inkiness about it. I thought between the 2 I would have a good super dark liner. They were both horrible and ended up all over my under eye area shortly after application. So now that I have gone very off topic...I went in search of a great black drugstore liner and found several great reviews of the Physicians Formula liners and another liner from Rimmel. So I bought both and now I am reviewing both. The set from Physicians Formula is fantastic. I got the set with black, purple & brown. All colors I wanted and they are $9.95 for the 3. That is a great price. The black is very dark, the purple is a true plum purple. Not a blueish violet purple which I hate. The brown is dark and slightly ashy, not a red/orange brown. Thank goodness for that because I hate orangey brown. They go on smooth and stay on really well. Really really well. The colors are so flattering on and I just love them. I am very excited that I found a whole array of really great drugstore liners that I can snag anywhere if I need to. I will be trying these in another set of shades.

I line my upper inner and lower in Ed Rome of my lids and the top of my lid at the lash line so I need my liner to stay put. This does. Thpackaging is just what I love. Simple! Twist up liner with a sharpener and smudged in he end. Why is that so hard for some companies to grasp. Well done Rimmel.

Concealers -Maybelline - Instant Age Rewind Eraser Dark Circles
Tashina 3/3/2012 8:09:00 PM
I have his I. The neutralizer and also in fair. I bought the fair by accident thinking it was the brightener. I am going to grab the brightener anyway just to try, but I really love the two that I have. The neutralizer works well on my dark circles and the fair does a great job of brightening. I also use the fair around the. Openers of my nose. This stuff has the best texture. I pulled the sponge off of the fair to see if unlike it better without it but I actually do love the sponge applicator once I got the hang of it. For the fair now that I have pulled the sponge off I twist it out into my finger and apply it and it feels amazing. It is really smooth and creamy and blends fantastically. I wish the foundation came in a shade that matched my skin so I could try it. If it has the same texture that would be amazing I think. This sets well and stays put but does not get dry looking and crepey. I did have a problem wih the price though. $7.49 for each and when you are buying both the neutralizer and the brightener it's a bit of money. I think those 2 should come in a set. But I would spend it again because it works so well.

Foundations -Maybelline - Dream Matte Mousse
Tashina 3/2/2012 10:47:00 PM
This was given to me in the second lightest shade which is light 01. The color looks nice and neutral in the jar but goes on a little pink. I do better with slight yellow or neutral tones. It isn't a terrible color though. I can get away with it even if it isn't a perfect match as long as I don't layer it too much. Which brings me to my next point. It goes on really smoothly. I use the fatter end of a sponge and pat it lightly in the jar so I don't get too much on the sponge at one time. I blend a little at a time and it blends beautifully. It feels super light on my skin and gives a matte but not overly matte finish. It is kind of like a natural matte glow. I love it. The coverage ends up to be about medium for me but i think i could totally do a full coverage with this. I have worn it 2 days in a row and only for about 5 hours each day so I can't say for longevity yet but so far it has stayed in place well and hasn't made me greasy or started breaking apart and looking splotchy or patchy or anything like that. My blush goes on great over the top. If I can find it anywhere I will grab this in the lightest shade but none of my local stores carry it in that shade and neither does ulta or drugstore.com as far as I can tell. I tried searching their sites. That is the only reason I took off a lippie because they make shades of their makeup but don't make them all available. It's frustrating.

Lip Gloss -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Le Gloss
Tashina 3/1/2012 8:56:00 PM
I have this in saucy mauve, blushing berry & nude illusion. Saucy mauve & blushing berry are really pretty on. Nude illusion is exactly that, an illusion. In the tube it looks like a very pretty beige shimmery nude. On your lips it's pretty much a clear gloss. It smells and tastes good. The down side, it doesn't last. I had to touch up after 30 minutes. It goes on feeling like a creamy gloss with a nice texture and after about 10 minutes you can feel it start to evaporate. Considering the price of this gloss, I was expecting much more. One sip of coffee and half the gloss was on my cup. I would not repurchase

Loose Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear Talc-Free Airbrushing Loose Powder
Tashina 3/1/2012 7:48:00 PM
This blended well, looked smooth not cakey. It did offer a very smooth healthy glowy finish that was beautiful. In my bathroom he color was great. When I walked out the door, he lightest shade was just too dark. Story of my life. I got in the sun and the difference was very obvious. That is the only reason I wouldn't buy his again. Because it doesnt come in my shade. Boo!

Eye Makeup Remover -Neutrogena - Eye Makeup Remover Lotion - Hydrating
Tashina 2/28/2012 7:05:00 PM
I would absolutely buy this again. This was very easy to apply and remove. It took my makeup off completely. I use it on my whole face. I love to use it as a mini mask. I put it all over my face, sit for about 5-10 minutes and then wipe it off wih a viva paper towel. My skin feels smooth, soft, CLEAN and moisturized. I don't feel like I have to wash my face after I use this. I was using another brand hat was a liquid. I had to use 3-4 cotton balls of product and it was oil free but still felt oily and I needed to wash and moisturize after using it. It worked well but is just too much of a process. That with the $15 price tag makes the neutragena lotion by far the better product for me.

Eyeliner -L'Oreal - Pencil Perfect Self-Advancing Eyeliner - Carbon Black
Tashina 2/24/2012 1:09:00 AM
I have been using this product for 2 weeks. I really love how dark it is and how smooth it goes on. That's about all I liked about it. It did not stay put. I put liner on the top lid close to the lash line, upper inner rim and inner lower rim and I have had liner that fell but none hat fell as bad as his did. It looked like I had put my liner on in an earthquake after an hour. It fell in spots under my lash line. Way under like I spotted it on purpose. And it moved out to the side at the outside corners of my eyes. I had to clean up and touch up all day. As for the packaging, I felt it was just a regular twist up liner which I prefer to a liner you have to sharpen. I was curious about the self advancing tube. It did not once advance on its own. The only time it advanced was when I twisted it up. So that was a bust. The price did not weaken the blow of this being horrible. $8 for this I think is too much. If this liner was even a little better, he price would not be an issue but considering how awe full it is, I do think so.

Eye Shadow -Maybelline - Color Tattoo 24hr Cream Gel Shadow
Tashina 2/24/2012 12:47:00 AM
I have this shadow in bronze, asphalt & white. I gave the asphalt away. It went on too silvery for me. I like my grey sultry and darker. I love the bronze. It goes on smooth and build able. At first it was a lighter more sheer bronze but it only took another swipe and it was much more pronounced. The white I use at the corner of my eyes and on the inside closer to the bridge of my nose to lighten the darkness there and it works great. It also looks nice blended just under my brows. Both colors dy fast which is nice. I hate a cream shadow that takes forever to dry. Once they are dry, they are not moving. That is amazing. I have had the shadow on for 12.5 hours and it still looks like I just applied it and I have been rubbing my eyes and none came off on my finger. I am very impressed. I will be buying this in pomagranite, gold, emerald, purple & taupe.

Foundations -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector Daily All-In-One
Tashina 2/20/2012 9:14:00 PM
I bought the light/medium. It was too dark. I thought for how sheer it goes on it wouldn't show with a little powder over but I didn't make it of the front door. It was just too dark. I am fair bordering on pale. The smell was horrible. It is the same smell hey use in sunless tanner to cover up the other smell. I could not get past hat. It made my head hurt. It wasn't a horrible product otherwise. It went on smooth and felt good. The even out was really nice. It had a good amount of color. Better than tinted moisturizer. It soaked in fairly quickly. With powder to finish it looked natural but like "hey, what's her secret?" I just wish it had been lighter in color. Really don't want to have to hunt for another bb that works like I want and pay more when this one is good. Just the wrong color. Uuuggghhh /:{

Crème -Cover Girl - Simply Ageless
Tashina 2/17/2012 1:32:00 PM
This didn't work for me. It did exactly what it is advertised not to do. It settled into my fine lines and aged me badly. It just sits on my skin and looks unnatural and fake and I don't even know how to describe the effect. I tried using a lighter touch but that didn't help. It didn't last very long either. It needed several touch ups through the day and rubbed off all over my hubbies shirt. It was heard to blend. Every time I made a swipe/stipple to blend it would make new streaks. The only good thing I can say is that I am fair and not really pink or yellow toned. I can pull off a little yellow but for the most I am pretty neutrally pale. The lightest shade was a good match which makes me very sad since this was not a good foundation otherwise. The packaging comes with a great sponge. I always have loved cover girl sponges quality. But the package didn't have a mirror. It is great to stick in your purse but you would have to carry a separate mirror which adds some inconvenience.

Blush -Sonia Kashuk - Shimmering Loose Mineral Blush
Tashina 2/15/2012 12:13:00 AM
I have this in Fairy and Angelica. Angelica is a very light baby pink and Fairy is a deeper pink. They are both very shimmery. I am pretty pale so both colors show well in me but unless I am wearing a matte foundation, they can be a little too shimmery bordering on glittery. If I am wearing mineral foundation I just iluse a lighter touch and they still work but with a luminous liquid I can't wear them or I look over the top and greasy. I would definitely buy them again. They are really pretty on and great for a night out. I dinged the packaging because they come in a sifter jar that has a twist close feature. I thought this was great so I could stick it in my purse but the sifter doesn't close tight and it leaks product and the lid is a lift up lid, not a twist on and it doesn't snap tightly either. It spilled all over my purse. It stays in the drawer now. But the jar has a mirror in it and the package is pretty.

Makeup Brushes -Sonia Kashuk - pointed foundation brush
Tashina 2/14/2012 7:38:00 PM
I have been using his for a week with my liquid foundation. I use a matte foundation that dries quicker than most foundations. This brush is great for that. It blends really well and I can either swipe it like a flat brush or use it to buff as well. I like swiping my makeup on first then buffing it in for a little better blending. Overall a good buy. I think I will grab a second one for my cream blush and see how it works.
