Powder -Stila - Illuminating Powder Foundation
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 4/25/2011 3:31:00 PM

I purchased this in 60 Watts because it matches my skin tone perfectly. Unfortunately, after applying, it turned dark and orange. I tried using it a second time, this time over a primer. Again, it turned dark and orange. Even over primer it accentuated my pores and made them look huge. It does not cover imperfections at all, and I can't wear this without concealer. I thought about exchanging it for the 50 Watts, but after seeing how it bad it makes my skin look, when in fact I have really good skin for my age, I decided to return it. This cost a small fortune, over $40.00 for the powder and the compact. Also, I did not notice any illuminating effect at all, which is what convinced to pay this outrageous price in the first place. I do not recommend this product.

Fragrances -Marc Jacobs - Lola
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 4/13/2011 2:18:00 PM

Fragrance tastes are very subjective, so I'm not surprised that so many ladies hate this. I loved it from the moment I sprayed it on, all the way down to the final drydown. I bought it on the spot, which I rarely do. It usually takes me weeks to decide to shell out the money for a fragrance. This is exactly how I want to smell: Slightly flowery, slightly gourmand and sweet, and definitely perfumey. Lola lasts all day on me, and I smell my wrist as often as I can when I'm wearing it. This is in my "favorites" rotation in my collection.

Mascara -Maybelline - Volum' Express The Falsies Waterproof Mascara
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 4/13/2011 2:12:00 PM

What's not to hate about this mascara? The wand is too curved and the stem has weird crimps in it. The brush shape and bristles cause the product to apply unevenly, but it doesn't matter because this product doesn't do anything for my lashes at all. Three coats hardly even show up. It's waterproof. That's all the good I can say about it. I will put up with this for a few more days and then throw it out.

Pressed Powders -Physicians Formula - Mineral Wear® Talc-Free Mineral Correcting Powder - Creamy Natural
rated 3 of 5
Peaches1027 4/13/2011 2:08:00 PM

I bought this powder because after my store rewards it was free. It's really expensive at regular price, which is $14.00. This is a gritty powder with a weird white cast to it. It isn't creamy or natural. It doesn't control shine at all. However, when brushed on with a large powder brush after moisturzing, it does even out my skin tone and give me the confidence to go foundation-free and get out of the house quickly. Otherwise, this is a useless product. I will not repurchase, even if it's free.

Powder -Rimmel - Stay Matte Pressed Powder - Sandstorm
rated 3 of 5
Peaches1027 4/13/2011 2:04:00 PM

I saw this on sale for $2.79, which is the only reason I purchased it. The powder is of decent quality, and I like matte finish it gives my skin. It doesn't control shine for very long, maybe a couple hours at most. The lid doesn't really fasten. It just kind of sits on top. This is a nice color and you can't beat the price but it doesn't perform very well. For $2.79 on sale, a soft texture and two hours of shine control, it gets three stars. I will not repurchase.

Lipstick -Lancome - Groupie
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 4/13/2011 1:54:00 PM

I own or have owned many Color Design lipsticks, and this one is my least favorite. It has a little glitter in it, which I hate, and while the color saturation is good, it wears off inconsistently and looks sloppily applied after an hour or so. This is a golden orange-red that looks nice with my olive skin. The formula and lasting power aren't what I expect from Lancome. I will continue to use this until I get sick of it, and then I'll throw it out. I will not repurchase.

Eye Shadow -Smashbox - Flirt Eyeshadow
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 4/10/2011 11:05:00 PM

I wore this one time and returned it to Sephora. I cannot comment on the color, the saturation or anything else about this product because after I put it on, I looked in the mirror and saw that my face was covered in glitter. Nothing else mattered at that point. This reinforces what I have believed for years: Smashbox products are successful because the fashion magazines promote the brand shamelessly. They are of inferior quality all across the board.

Eye Primer -Bare Escentuals - bareVitamins Prime Time Eyelid Primer
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:38:00 PM

I have oily skin, so my eyshadow and liner tend to run, which drives me crazy. However, I cannot use UDPP or TFSI because the active ingredient in them, which I will not try to spell right now, makes my eyes red and burn. I think I'm allergic to it. The SA at Sephora recommended this, so I decided to give it a try. This does not irritate my eyes, is easy to apply with a brush, and it makes my shadow and liner last until I take it off at night. I brush this on my lower lash line as well and apply eyeliner over it, with great results. I think this is a little expensive ($18.00) for the tiny tube, but since I'm not allergic to it and it works so well, I'll repurchase it.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide-On Eyepencil in Oil Slick
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:34:00 PM

UD 24/7 is the only eyeliner I will wear, and I own almost every color. I purchased Oil Slick a week ago, and I've worn it nearly every day since. I won't review the formula again, except to say these pencils are soft, last all day, and have the best color selection of any other brand, hands down. Anyway, Oil Slick is not quite black, but it isn't gray either, and it isn't brown/black. It's more like a dark almost black with shimmer. It looks very nice with my olive skin and very dark eyes. I don't care for black eyeliner because it's so harsh, but sometimes I want a more dramatic look, which is why I bought this. It gives me exactly the look I want, and I actually prefer it to Bourbon now, which has been my go-to liner for over a year. I cannot recommend these pencils enough. I will be going back for another color soon.

Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick- Rose Tea
rated 3 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:27:00 PM

I received this as GWP. I generally do not like the Pure Color lipstick line, but I have to say I like this one better than some of the others I've paid full price for. The color itself is great. It's a neutral pink/mauve that works very well for my olive skin, although it's supposed to be for cool skin tones. I don't like the smell, and it doesn't last very long, like all Pure Color lipsticks. I use my TF Borderline lip pencil to keep this in place, and I will use it until it's gone. I would never pay full price for this though.

Styling Products -Living Proof - Full Thickening Cream
rated 1 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:23:00 PM

I bought this product after using the Living Proof Frizz Styling Cream Straight Making For Medium To Thick Hair. That product works miracles for me, even though my hair is fine and needs volume. I figured this would be even better. It isn't. I don't get good results with it at all. It doesn't give me any extra shine or volume, and makes my hair feel heavy and slightly goopy. I only use a pea-sized amount, and if I used less I wouldn't use any at all. This is really expensive and isn't worth the money.

Styling Products -Living Proof - Straight Making No Frizz Styling Cream for Medium to Thick
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:20:00 PM

I have straight, fine hair, and I certainly do not need a straightening cream for medium to thick hair, but I received this as a sample and decided to give it a try instead of just tossing it. I'm glad I did. This makes my hair look thicker, gives it a glossy shine, and makes me look like I do when I walk out of the salon. I love it. A little bit goes a long way. I blow dry my hair as usual, which includes styling with a round brush for waves and curls, and this product still allows me to do that. This is expensive, but I buy the very smallest size they have and it lasts forever. You only need a little bit. Thank you, Sephora SA, for putting this into my bag one day. I love you.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Bright Duo - Flashy
rated 2 of 5
Peaches1027 3/24/2011 9:16:00 PM

I got this for $2.00 at CVS, and I love green shadow, so I decided to give it a try. The last HIP duo I purchased from L'Oreal went directly into the garbage, but I am a forgiving person. Unfortunately, this one is going into the trash as well. PROS: Fantastic color saturation, nice colors, great packaging. CONS: Powder is grainy, falls into my eyes, even with primer, and makes my eyes red, itchy and teary. I do not recommend this, especially if you wear contact lenses. (I do not.) I prefer high-end shadows because the powders are finely milled and silky and do not irritate my eyes.

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/8/2011 11:26:00 PM

I never, ever, ever buy high-end mascara. It just isn't worth the money. All that changed when I got this mascara. It's unbelievable. One coat gives beautiful lashes, and they get more beautiful, feathery and thick with every swipe. It never flakes, smears or clumps and is easy to remove. I always have this on hand. Definitely recommended.

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
rated 5 of 5
Peaches1027 3/8/2011 11:22:00 PM

I bought this because I was out of primer and the roads were too icy to drive to Sephora to buy what I wanted. The roads were not too icy to drive to the corner drugstore and try this instead. I'm glad I did. It works the same as or better than every other primer I've tried, all of them higher end, and you can't beat the price. I've put three layers of this stuff on my face to see if I could get it to perform badly, but it works perfectly no matter what. I'll never buy $30 primer again. This is fabulous. Highly recommended.
