Lotions/ Creams -Demeter - Cinnamon Bun Concentrated Calming Lotion
laumar27 11/2/2007 1:56:00 PM
I've had the same bottle of this for a few years, as I just recently rediscovered it. I'm not familiar with the Pick My Up spray in this scent, but this lotion is divine. It smells so soft and it's not a sickly sweet cinnamon bun type of smell. To me, this smells just like fresh cinnamon, without the sticky frosting smell you would associate with an actual cinnamon bun. Moisturizing abilities are somewhat minimal, as it's in lotion form as opposed to a cream, but it leaves my hands quite soft and lightly scented. I will most likely repurchase if I ever finish this bottle!
Did I purchase the same product as everyone else? I tried this a few years back, and it was so disappointing. The texture is very greasy, yet provides no moisturizing benefits. It's like applying a thin veil of greasy film to your lips, and the color was almost non-existant. I understand it is meant as a tint, but it barely showed up as anything on my lips. I don't get the popularity of Kiehl's. I have tried many of their products (in sample sizes thankfully), and have never understood why they are so successful. They are mediocre products at best.
I got this in a sample size, so I can't complain too much. I've never been impressed with any of Lancome's mascaras. I've tried most of their formulas, and they are very lackluster in my opinion. The flextencils (now discontinued) was no exception. It did a nice job of darkening my very pale lashes, but it added minimal volume and almost no lenghtening/curling. I think, like most brands, Lancome makes a few good products here and there, but I don't know why they are so popular for mascaras - perhaps it's the hype, but I will most likely not purchase any mascara from them in the future.
I received this product in a swap, and I'm glad I didn't have to shell out $32 for it. There are only 3 colors (max) that I use out of this 10 color palette. The applicator brush that comes with this is terrible; it's rigid and sharp and it leaves very noticeable lines in the product. Staying power could be much better; particularly for top lids. I've mostly used this to add definition to my lower eye line when I want a more 'finished' look. I wouldn't reccommend this unless you are familiar with and like all or most of the shades included in this. Otherwise, it's sort of wasteful and leaves a lot to be desired.
This is a very agreeable fragrance. I would classify it as a fruity-floral with light to medium staying power. It's not overwhelming and the rose notes are not at all heavy. I'm not too crazy about the bottle design, but overall it's a nice scent that I think anyone could wear.
This mascara's name is only half true, in that it does make lashes soft, but not full. You'd really have to layer this on to get any kind of thickness and even then (since that's what I did), it still looks very subtle. They should rename this Soft and Natural mascara.
I'm on my second bottle of this so it must be good! I realized I needed to use a toner in order to remove the residue left over from my soap/cleanser. Since I've added this step to my skincare routine, I have much clearer skin. I like this toner for many reasons; one of them being the fact that it hasn't irritated my delicate skin, nor has it caused any breakouts. It is very gentle and perfect for refreshing the skin after washing, as well as preparing the skin for moisturizer. **edit** - had to remove two lippies and change buy again response to no. I discovered that this product contains Sodium Chloride (salt) which is a major skin irritant and pore-clogging ingredient.
I think Clarins makes some really nice products, however, this isn't one of them. Since Clarins has so many different eye treatments to choose from, I thought this sounded like the safest bet for me. My main concern are my dark circles, and this eye gel did nothing to improve them. I also noticed the tightening feeling that other reviews described. It wasn't moisturizing either and that is very important for any eye treatment product.
Blush -Givenchy - Prisme Again! Blush Quartet 02 Loving Pink
laumar27 10/18/2007 5:34:00 PM
I purchased this online at sephora. I must have been in a splurging mood, since I still can't believe I paid $40 for a blush. The color I chose (Loving Pink) was nice and it complemented my very fair skin tone, but it was no different than any other blush I have purchased. I'm wearing a Physician's Formula blush right now that I got at my local drugstore, and I think I paid about $7 for it. I get so many compliments on it and many people think it must be a higher end brand that I'm wearing. The color and texture are nearly identical to this one; the only difference being that I paid $33 more for the Givenchy. The prisme again blush compact even broke after only a couple of months as well! The entire top half became unhinged from the base, and I didn't do anything that should have caused it to fall apart. I think there are certain products where it's worth the investment to pay more, but a blush is a blush. I learned my lesson and will probably not be paying this much again!! ;)
Lip Liners -Clinique - Quickliner for Lips (Sky Violet)
laumar27 10/18/2007 5:10:00 PM
I don't use a lip pencil everyday, but when I do this is the one I grab for. Since it's not a traditional pencil that you have to sharpen, the application is very easy. I love the Sky Violet color, which in my opinion, does not look violet at all. The color I get upon application is a very neutral pink, but it has enough depth that the liner doesn't entirely disappear. I use this as a lipstick base as well and it makes my color last much longer.
On my quest for the "right" shampoo, I grabbed this at my local drugstore. It didn't brighten my hair at all. Instead it was left a bit weighed down and quite dull. The smell was fine and it lathered well, but that doesn't compensate for the lackluster results. Pantene products have always been disappointing to me and this was no exception.
It's a pretty, very natural looking color. I apply two coats as one is too transparent. The finish has a nice shine, and it's not streaky. Lasting power could be better, but I've yet to find a nail polish that doesn't start chipping after 2-3 days. Overall, it's a great neutral toned color. Looks great for everyday!
Styling Products -Dove - Straight & Soft Sleek Styling Cream

This did nothing good for my hair. I purchased it hoping it would smooth and protect my hair from blow drying heat. I didn't notice any improved softness or smoothing, and I think it's too light to provide enough protection against heat damage. The smell was pleasant & it wasn't sticky, but I really can't see or feel any difference so it's a bit wasteful.
I love anything that will relax me and this stuff works pretty good! I received this in a swap from a very lovely swapper, and it is just what I was looking for. it's a nice portable size as well, which makes it great for stress relief or a pick me up on the go! I dab a tiny bit on my wrists, inhale and let the cool mintyness clear my mind and lift my mood (even if just temporarily!!)
I own this as well as the original Bvlgari Pour Femme and they are extremely similar. I'm not that impressed with the Eau Fraiche for the above mentioned reason. They are nearly identical scents. I was hoping the Fraiche version would be a bit lighter, and have some detectable difference. It's certainly a nice scent if you like classic florals, but nothing out of this world or unique.
