Eyeliner -Smashbox - Waterproof Shadow Liner - Fan Club
rated 3 of 5

I actually really like this product but have noticed a problem with a slight drying out of the product. Smashbox touts this as there new smudgey eyeliner. When you pair this gel liner with the #30 brush, you get a smudgey, bedroom smokey, just got out of bed look. The brush is quite full and long for a liner brush which gives the thicker smudger eye liner. The gel liner lasts all day. I really had to work to get it off too, so it gets high points for that. The color is a smokey taupe. really pretty. Overall, i love the smudgey effect, just make sure not too go too thick or it can get racoon like. I do think this product will dry out quickly which is a huge minus. Retails for $18 for the liner. Comes in a small pot like the smashbox gel liners.

Eye Shadow -LORAC - Starry Eyed Baked Trio in Starlet
rated 5 of 5

GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!! This line continues to be one of the most underrated/unpopular line here on MUA, but its truly fantastic. I have never been disappointed with the quality of LORAC shadows and this is no exception. Starlet retails for $24 and is a mineralized trio of shadow in a square lucite type packaging. The colors are stunning. A light shimmery pale pink, shimmery medium violet and shimmery dark purple. All super pigmented with tons of shimmer. Excellent quality. Highly recommend this trio!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Warming Trend--Cool Heat collection
rated 1 of 5
ziebam 7/2/2008 5:30:00 PM

Biggest disappointment from the Cool Heat collection. Limited edition shadow from Cool Heat released June 1008. Comes in a standard black flip top pot and retails for $14. Warming Trend is a veluxe pearl. Normally, my favorite formula. Smooth and silky texture. However, this color is not very pigmented. Its a soft beige. Does not really show up much on my NC30 light olive complexion. even if i layer it. Just a waste of $ for me.

Sunscreen -DERMAdoctor - Ain't Misbehavin' skin clarifying & mattifying sunscreen spf 30
rated 2 of 5
ziebam 7/2/2008 5:23:00 PM

I was hopiing this would be my HG sunscreen but its not. I have really sensitive skin and EVERYTHING breaks me out. Not really a cystic acne problem but i get clogged pores every day. Sunscreen always makes it worse. The best thing i have found so far is the Colorscience powder sunscreen but i cant even use that every day. So needless to say, i have not found any sunscreen i can wear every day and that, is really bad for my skin. I was hoping this would be it. I saw it on HSN.com and sephora also carries it. I paid $30 for 4oz so this is quite pricey. Unfortunately, break out city. BIG huge acne within one day. Obviously the clarifying agent, willow bark doesnt work for me. Too bad, i would love a sunscreen that worked!

Eye Shadow -Shu Uemura - 25th Anniversary 2008 Fleur De Rose Palette
rated 4 of 5
ziebam 6/19/2008 6:26:00 PM

I was supposed to be saving money but when i saw these palettes, I couldnt resist and fell off the wagon. At $65, these are ridiculously overpriced but pretty nonetheless. Comes in a white compact with red flower design on the compact. Inside you get 4 shadow pans. 3 of the pans and duo shadows and one pan is a single highlighter color.
In the Fleur De Rose palette you get a shimmery dark purple, shimmery white that has a tinge of gray to it so its not so stark white, shimmery medium pink, shimmery pink/rose, shimmery beige/ecru, shimmery pale bronze and the single pan is a shimmery soft gold. The quality is EXCELLENT. very pigmented, easy to blend, good color payoff. And all the colors look great together for a variety of different looks. Lasted all day long with my TooFaced Shadow Insurance base.
I guess the luster of this has kinda worn off though because i have to say the colors arent all that unique. Maybe the pink/rose pan is slightly different. Didnt have to much red undertones so i dont look sick. But overall, the colors can be recreated. I mean, the quality is excellent and i would recommend this to a novice or Shu collector, but its not very unique for a hoarding/collection MUA'er.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 5 of 5
ziebam 6/19/2008 6:17:00 PM

This is my new HG eyeshadow primer. I was on my third tube of UDPP when this came out. I tried them side by side and the TooFaced wins out. Both really held the shadows on but the UDPP had a little creasing to it. Barely, but there. So the TF wins! This stuff kept my shadow on all day with no creasing. I also notice the UDPP makes my lids a little crepey while the TF does not. And the TF packaging is so much better than the UDPP bottle. Love this stuff. Retails for $17. HG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Mascara -Clarins - Wonder Length Mascara
rated 5 of 5
ziebam 5/29/2008 7:41:00 PM

I have been super impressed by this mascara. As a south floridian, smudgy racoon eyes in the humidity here is my pet peeve. if a mascara smears during the day, i quickly give it up. Well, this one doesnt smear at all. NO smudging through 8 hours and the gym with the slightest smudging between 10-12 hours. Really long lasting. As for wear, this goes on nicely. The brush is very thin and long and really lengthens lashes. I also find that it darkens quite nicely. One coat for daytime and 2-3 for night and you get dark, long thick lashes. Really great. Not clumpy so far ( i am on week 3). Retails for $23.50 and comes in a thin long red tube that is very pretty and not your basic black. I also find this easy to take off at night. Doesnt get everywhere. Overall, i am quite impressed with this and would purchase it again.

Eye Shadow -Guerlain - Terracotta Tajine Eyeshadow in Blonde Metal
rated 1 of 5
ziebam 5/26/2008 6:37:00 PM

I was actually quite disappointed in this collection. I picked up all three of the metal eyeshadows and returned blonde and brunette promptly. The only reason i kept the dark is because i am a sucker for taupes. Each one retails for a whopping $33. So at that price i expect perfection. None of the colors are super pigmented. In fact, the only one with some pigment was the dark metal. (the one i kept). The other two have very little. The sales lady actually said to me that they do have a lot of pigment but only if you use the sponge applicator it comes with. She is obviously an idiot. The blonde metal is a soft pink with copper hint to it and brunette metal is a standard soft brown copper shimmer. Neither were anything special and neither showed up on my NC30 light olive complexion. The dark metal is a pretty soft true taupe shimmer that is light but still pretty. The container is an awkward genie type bottle which is also a pain to store with your other shadows. The sponge applicator comes out of the top. Interesting but still oddly packaged. Limited edition but so not worth it.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
rated 1 of 5
ziebam 5/22/2008 11:50:00 AM

This product is nothing special. Supposed to come off in tubes like Blinc Kiss Me mascara and it doesnt. Barely did any leghtening or darkening. More of a daytime soft mascara look and I barely have any lashes so I need mascara with some oomph. Smudged slightly during the day as well. Overall, this did nothing mascara should do. Wont buy this again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Shore Leave
rated 4 of 5
ziebam 5/15/2008 6:24:00 PM

This is limited edition and part of the Naughty Nauticals collection released May 2008. Comes in the standard MAC flip top pot and retails for $14. Its a shimmery champagne color with a pale pale pale pink hue to it. Great highlighter. Nicely pigmented but this also looks like alot of other highlighters out there. Not a must have unless you are just starting to buy makeup!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Illegal Cargo
rated 3 of 5
ziebam 5/15/2008 6:22:00 PM

This is limited edition and part of the Naughty Nauticals collection released May 2008. Comes in the standard MAC flip top pot and retails for $14. I thought this would be my favorite but its not as pretty on the lid as it is in the pot. Its a slightly shimmery grey soft plum color. Not too plummy but not too grey either with a hint of taupe to it. Great everyday color and you can tone it down with grey liner or taupe liner or brighten it up with a purple liner. Its versatile but its not a stand out for me.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Submarine - Naughty Nauticals
rated 4 of 5
ziebam 5/15/2008 6:19:00 PM

This is limited edition and part of the Naughty Nauticals collection released May 2008. Comes in the standard MAC flip top pot and retails for $14. Its a shimmery bright primary blue. I guess primary blue is the right color. its just a gorgeous bright sparkling blue. I actually thought it may be a look alike or too much like Bell Bottom Blue pigment but its really pretty. The color you see in the pot is how this applies. Not too obvious a blue but a definite pop of color. Doesnt muddy out like some blues can. Really love this and glad I got it. I am an NC30 and this goes great with my skin coloring!

Mascara -Sephora - Lash Plumper
rated 2 of 5
ziebam 5/14/2008 6:39:00 PM

This was okay. Designed as a volumizing mascara with a larger thick brush that retails for $16. I got a sample of this and it worked okay. My biggest problem was that after about 6 hours it started smudging slowly. Leaving me with black rings under my eyes that got worse between 6-8 hours. Not horrible smearing but enough that i would not repurchase. I do have an oily eye area and live in humid S.Florida, so that does make it harder to find a good formula. But i prefer CoverGirl Lash Blast to this and the CG is cheaper. The thickening was okay, did make them nice and black without clumping and gave a minimal amount of length. One coat gave me a naturally darker lash, i needed two to three coats for maximum effect. OVerall, the smudging makes this a no no for me!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Naughty Nauticals Pandamonium
rated 4 of 5
ziebam 5/11/2008 3:14:00 PM

Part of the Naughty Nauticals collection released May 2008. Limited edition release that was actually a limited release in the Pandemonium quad from the Balloonacy collection of March 2007. Pandamonium is a lustre. Shimmery dark gunmetal grey. Not very unique but nicely pigmented and glides on effortlessly. Great grey but may not be a must have cause most MUA'ers will have a similiar shade.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Lustreglass - Bateaux (Naughty Nauticals 2008)
rated 3 of 5
ziebam 5/8/2008 7:30:00 PM

This is limited edition and part of the Naughty Nauticals collection released May 2008. Comes in the standard MAC wand and retails for $14. It has a wand brush applicator rather than a spongey doefoot. Its definately not anywhere near a browned peach. Maybe closer to a shimmery nude with a slight pale peach frost to it. It borders on almost too light and milky. But with a nude lippie under it, it works. i really like this with a strong colorful eye. I used Bell Bottom Blue wet as a liner and used with Mutiny all over the lid and crease, Lark About to highlight and a dark black liner in the inner rims with tons of black mascara. Then i did a pale nude mouth since the eyes were the focal point. The look is really nice. Goes well with my brown eyes and NC30 skintone. Overall, I like this but its not a must have.
