I love these eyeliners...I got tired of fussing about with e/s recently but I find the liquid liner look too harsh on its own. I sort of use these kohl pencils as an e/s, I line my top lid and then smudge it with a smudge brush for a softer look...much easier controllable than e/s. Then I draw a thin line along my lashline with waterproof liquid liner to set the look... perfectly defined and natural looking eyes, wow. It takes about 3 minutes to do my eye-makeup, thanks to the pencils being so creamy and easy to smudge. I own these in grey, black and white. I use grey in the everydays with a grey liquid liner, but the black one is a really amazing deep black shade (not blueish or brownish) for a more dramatic look. The white one I usually apply to my waterline and set it with some white e/s, and it makes my eyes look so much bigger. Lasting power is okay, imo. I apply some e/s primer to the outer corners of my eye and I never line my bottom lid anyway, so my makeup stays put quite long. Would repurchase these forever, they're so cheap and good quality (as Rimmel generally is).
This must be the most disgusting product Iíve ever tried. It was my first foundation ever when I was around 15, and now I randomly found a jar in my fdtn drawer and tried it on just for fun. Right upon application it looks really smooth and matte, but thenÖGROSS! I applied a primer underneath and it all clumped up and sat on the top of any small unevenness or dry flakes on my skin and it started to slide off in 5 minutes (no joke). I had to wash off my face and start all over again with another fdtn. I literally ran to the sink, it was so gross. The formula is not oil-free and you can feel it when you stick your finger in, itís so slimy and silicone-y. Itís NO WAY good for oily skin, as it literally slips off in no time. For dry skin itís way too drying. And who wants to wear a layer of silicone slime on their face anyway? Get it off meee blaaahh brrr. This was a good experience to know that cheap makeup wonít perform (with a few exceptions). All what is positive about DMM is that the application is fuss-free and Iím sure everyone loves to dip their fingers in fdtn mousse and play around. I did too. As for real makeup, this is for beginners. And I havenít even mentioned how all the shades are either pink or orangeÖMaybelline hasnít been able to come up with a realistic color range ever. Try something else, DMM is way too expensive for a jar of colored gunk. Speaking of the jar, I use it to crush aspirin for my aspirin masks in it.
Foundations -Coty - Miss Sporty - So Matt mattifying foundation

I was quite surprised about this foundation too. I, the high end makeup snob, bought it in my last utter desperation to get a color as light as my skin. I've tried EVERY drugstore and high end brand and they are either too pink or too dark. Not this one. It is a neutral PPP shade with a slight whitish tinge. The coverage is around medium but it is very buildable. Once I blended it, it looked completely natural (doesnt't happen often on my skin...), like the makeup fully morphed into my skin. I dusted with somet transparent powder and it didn't ball up or grow messy on my skin. The finish is very matte already, but I use powder to extend lasting power. Lasting power is mediocre. The oily parts of my skin start to shine through in a few hrs, but using a good powder and primer help a lot... Neways, nice light makeup for summer. As long as I live in a country where Revlon Colorstay is not carried, this will be an okay alternative.
This fragrance is pure sex. My bf used this and it just smelled INCREDIBLY sexy and sultry. It somehow manages to be very original but still suit a lot of different personalities. For me the guy wearing this scent is elegant, sophisticated and stylish. Definitely no beard, just sleek skin and shiny dark hair. The name has recently changed to simply Code and I think they've changed the fragrance a bit too. It is less soft and a bit more spicy, but basically the same. I know a few guys using this as well and they keep turning heads, seriously. I see girls sniffing around them in clubs, on the street, everywhere. I will FORCE all men I'll ever date to wear this fragrance, it is to die for.
Dear God. This is the first perfume I have found truly disgusting. It's sweet, but sickly sweet with a bitter undertone that makes my stomach revolt, seriously. I can imagine how Euphoria would work as a warm and sexy scent for someone, but on me it turns to smell like rotten men's deodorant. I really can't describe the scent, I couldn't detect any natural notes. It's really all synthetic, as some reviewers have mentioned. I tried swapping with my friends, didn't work. It just stinks. I gave it to my mom as a last chance (it was expensive!) and she liked it at first. But once we all sat in the car, my dad sniffled around and exclaimed 'One of you stinks.' I wasn't wearing perfume. Anyways, recently I've smelled Euphoria on others and it dried down much nicer on them. Maybe it's simply not for me. To the trash it went.
Lipstick -Estee Lauder - Pure Color Lipstick in Sugar Honey 183
solyacska 5/3/2008 6:20:00 AM
This is a typical summer shade, imo. I don't usually wear lipsticks but I needed something to replace lipglosses in the summer and match my bronzer, so I bought Sugar Honey. The texture is very creamy and goes on easily. It also gives a satiny sheen to lips. Lasting power is okay - with primer underneath I need to reapply after I eat and drink. The color is basically a dark peach with some gold frost and beige-ish undertones. Wouldn't use it as a nude, but it adds some oomph to the lips without making them darker or brownier (my nightmare). Overall it's a flattering and decent daytime shade, but it can only be worn with a golden brownish blusher and similar shades. The gold frost pretty much defines the color range - pinkish blusher and smokey eyes looked simply horrendous with it. Take this lipstick to the beach and use it on the lips and as a blusher. Gives a gorgeous and fresh sunkissed look.
Treatments -L'Oreal - Elvive Nutri-Gloss Intensive Shine Masque

This masque together with the anti-breakage shampoo and conditioner has saved my hair. I had been flat ironing for 3 years every day, and in the end my hair was becoming shorter day by day as it broke off. All those expensive products I bought from hairdressers and salons did nothing. My bf uses the shampoo and conditioner from this line and his hair is so soft and shiny, so I tried the masque and it really works! It's thick enough to moisturize my extremely dry and brittle hair. My split ends are not so visible anymore and my hair finally has some life to it. Most importantly, it contains absolutely no silicones. I'm pretty sure that my hair is not being coated by a layer of chemicals, but it is being properly moisturized. As a result of these L'oreal lines, my hair started to grow again and the difference is just incredible - especially for such drugstore products. Will repurchase until I die.
This is my new everyday mositurizer. Unlike the majority of drugstore and high end products, Happyderm actually does the job of moisturizing my skin. This is the first cream that doesnít leave my skin feeling tight and about to tear off my head, seriously. All I have is INCREDIBLY soft and evenly moisturized skin, evenly being they keyword here. I have combination skin, and my t-zone is very dry and quite oily at the same time. Using a heavier moisturizer will have my makeup slip off in no time, and lighter ones for oily skin are not enough for the dryiness. Happyderm (tacky name and unbelievably weird promises about my skin smiling back at me and stuff, blah) seems to keep oil at bay and mositurize at the same time. Iím not getting flaky and painful anymore, and makeup glides on so much better, there is a world of difference. Iíd definitely recommend this moisturizer to all of us suffering from skin that is oily but very dry on the surface! I didnít notice anything about the glitter (though mica is listed among the ingredients), I havenít broken out, I havenít developed new wrinkles. And I love the smell, itís a mix of roses and champagne. Smelling it every morning makes repurchasing this cream soo much worth it.
Moisturizers -Unlisted Brand - Extra Virgin Olive Oil
solyacska 4/27/2008 5:05:00 PM
Evoo did pretty much nothing to my face apart from making it oilier than it already is. But for hair it is simply amazing. The regular conditioners are far from being moisturizing enough for my super damaged hair (I had been flat ironing it every single morning for 3 years). Heating evoo up and putting it on under a shower cap is a nice idea, but way too time consuming in the everydays. My alternative: I just add a few squirts to my conditoner/treatment and apply it to my hair leaving out the roots. I wash it off after a few minutes and donít shampoo once more to get rid of the oil either. A thorough rinse will remove excess evoo and leave only a thin layer than softens and moisturizes hair. My ends are not so dry anymore and my hair doesnít tangle and break off when I comb. Hope this will work on the long term tooÖwill update.
I have one thing to add to the aspirin rave. The perfect way to prepare a mask and scrub in one is to use the DISSOLVABLE TABLETS (the ones you can put into water and drink), not simple aspirin pills. I buy the tablets made by Bayer, 10 in a package and contains extra ascorbic acid (vitamin C). This dissolves to a much more even and finer consistency than the regular pill and exfoliates much better. So hereís how I do it: ♥ Grind up one tablet in a small jar to a fully powdery consistency. ♥ Pour ONE OR TWO drops of water on it, by no means more! ♥ The tablet will start to sparkle and produce a foam. It is important not to put more water on it, because then it will become more liquidy and impossible to apply as a mask. ♥ Apply the foam to your face, and scrub as long as you can! ♥ Leave it on your face to dry for 15-20 mins. Re-wet it in the halftime and massage around a bit. ♥ Squirt water on your face and massage around once more, then wash the whole thing off. ♥ Apply some astringent to seal your pores, then moisturize. This aspirin tablet is sort of like a small home microdermabrasion. The particles are very fine and small, so they cause less damage to the skin and exfoliate much better. Ideally, the day after I do the mask I can extract everything from my skin very easily. After that there wonít be any more blackheads or pimples for at least 5 days. This mask also reduces excess oil permanently and makes my pores smaller. There only very soft and very clear skin. And my undying love for aspirin. So ladies, go buy the tablets instead of the pills! It makes a world of difference.
This is the blush for the everyday look, when all I use is concealer, mascara and a bit of blush to make me look alive. The color is a muted pink (a lot pinker and less nude than it shows up in the pot!), and I see this complementing any skin tone. It is almost exactly the color of naturally flushed cheeks (in a nicer way). Santa Rose has a slight sheen to it which is enough for me to highlight my cheekbones - not too glittery by any means, and it doesn't look tacky at all. I'm actually surprised at the quality, regarding the price range and the brand...Will be sticking to Rimmel blushers from now on, because this one has great lasting power over my foundation and alone too, no dark patches and disappeared color, and I don't need additional highlighter on my cheeks. What I also like is that you can gradually enhance the intensity of the color by layering, because it doesn't come out too strong and clown-like. It is so easy to build a subtle 3-dimensional look to the cheeks, I put more layers in the middle and blend outwards. I don't think I will run out of it anytime soon, but I might repurchase after. You just can't go wrong with this shade. They also changed the pop off lid to a more stable hinge one, so it won't break up all over the place (no need to carry around for reapplication anyway, imo...). UPDATE: I saw some pics of me wearing this and it is horrible. Dark brown muddy patches all over my face. Disgusting. Ended up in the trash.
Mascara -Rimmel - Magnif'Eyes Eye Magnifier Eye Opening
solyacska 4/18/2008 7:06:00 AM
This is real love. Everytime I repurchase Eye Magnifier I thank heavens for creating a HG mascara for me. This one transforms my pathetic (sparse, colorless, stick straight) lashes into those porn star looking ones. The formulation is thicker than usual but it doesn't clump at all - thanks to the gorgeous plastic wand. It is slim, separates well and is super easy to work with. This mascara is the best for sculpting shapeless and boring lashes! I usually curl both before and after applying mascara and this is the first product that didn't glue together my lashes when I curled after application. It dries hard (but not stiff) and keeps the curl better than anything I've ever tried. It also gives amazing length and stays put all day (even through rain and showers). My major gripe is that the bristles start to break off the wand after a while. Even with half the bristles it works better than any other mascara though, and at this price I don't mind repurchasing every week if I have to anyway. Last summer I had surgery and when I was already lying on the operating table to be anesthetized, the surgeon came close peeking at my eyes and exclaimed 'Oh my god, look at those gorgeous lashes??!!'. This is how much Eye Magnifier works.
Beware of the scent. First it seems sweet and nice, but after a week or so it gets sickening. Otherwise nice gloss, I have it in Demure 111. Quick overview: PROS ♥ lasts fairly long (2 hours without drinking/eating) ♥ nice shine, doesn't look overdone ♥ the color (Demure) is a light, milky pink without shimmer - it looks fantastic with a sexy smoky eye, also matches rosy pink French manicure very well! It also does a good job at neutralizing my natural lipcolor. CONS ♥ settles into the creases of my lips ♥ a lot needs to be applied for the color to show up ♥ tends to droop outside the lips ♥ applicator is SO clumsy - it's hard and applies the gloss very streaky, a brush applicator would have been loads better ♥ scent (for some) - tastes/smells like oranges Had worse, had better. Overall worth a purchase, especially when it's on sale or cheap anyway.
Cleansers -Neutrogena - Visibly Clear Exfoliating wash
solyacska 3/27/2008 5:34:00 AM
Best cleanser ever. It gets rid of every last trace of makeup and dirt and leaves my skin really soft and smooth. There's also no film or buildup remaining on my face after using this one...The Visibly Clear line of Neutrogena just rocks IMO. All the products contain salicylic acid and they REALLY do help with clogged pores and blackheads (I don't have acne). Sometimes my skin peels, but this wash removes all the dead skin without drying it out. During the day I get less oil on my face and makeup goes on smoother and stays on longer. TIP - use a face brush with this cleanser (bought mine at Rossmann, medium-hard bristles), and massage all over your face for a few minutes (especially T-zone). This will loosen up blackheads and clogged pores so they will be super easy to extract later.
Why I bought this mascara? Because of the brush. The bristles of my HG, Rimmel Eye Magnifier are breaking off and I thought the Masterpiece Max wand could replace it. As it turns out it's not even good for that. This is expensive, overhyped and doesn't deliver. There is volume, but it's because it literally makes my lashes gravitate towards each other and YUCCCKKK they clump together into like 4 giant lashes altogether. Fun to watch. The black is matte, thick, it creates this 80's porn star look I despise. While the Rimmel mascara (for 1/3 of the price) gave not only volume but length and curl too, this sooo doesn't. There is absolutely no lengthening, and it makes my carefully curled lashes stick straight in a matter of seconds. I'd have to curl after application, but I cannot, because the mascara takes ages to dry and even when it does, it's still slimy on my lashes and curling just clumps all my 4 giant lashes together into 2. And I look as if I had been crying all day. God, if there is a mascara that will definitely and inevitably give you the spider leg effect, this is it! I don' understand how Max Factor could screw up so bad. This might work on thick, long and curly lashes, but mine have special needs, they are short, sparse and straight. And now the kicker: I tried the brush with Rimmel Eye Magnifier. That mascara gives me length, volume and curl and I thought if I use a different plastic wand with it, it would give the same effect. And NO! I look just like with the Masterpiece formulation. Maybe 90's porn star look, not as bad. So the wand is crap too... Spare yourself the money. EDIT: After a few days it's a bit better, but definitely not a repurchase. The consistency has thickened a bit so there are less spider-leggies. The black is still grey and ashy though. Gave one more lippy...
