Lipstick -Clinique - Colour Surge Butter Shine Lipstick - Berry Blush 415
rated 4 of 5

This is such a comfortable lipstick! I like the fact that it's not at all waxy. As for the colour.... I like it, but I wouldn't call it berry. It's more pink than purple, and goes on lighter than what you see in the tube. This colour works really well on my skin tone and is nice for day. I would buy this again.

Mascara -Cover Girl - Volume Exact [DISCONTINUED]

I just called CG to get a refund on this product. I brought it home from the store, opened the tube, and was overwhelmed by a "permanent-marker" smell. I decided to try it on anyhow and it was clumpy just like other people wrote in their comments. I wish I read the review here before I bought this. Basically, it's really smelly and useless. CGl does have some refund program going on right now though. So if you bought yours and don't like it, call the number on the back of the package!

Lotions/ Creams -Nivea - Nivea Creme

This stuff if gross! It's like paste! I was really hoping I'd like this, since there are some good reviews on here. The only nice thing about it (IMO) is the container, which has a pretty snowflake pattern on it (part of a gift set). I expected this Creme to be...well... creamy? Instead it was like spreading hair styling wax on my skin, and it took forever to sink in. The greasy feeling does go away after a while, but my skin doesn't feel moisturized at all... I only used it on my body, as I would never put anything this thick on my face. I would never purchase this product for myself. I received this as a gift, so at least I don't have to feel bad about not being able to use it. EDIT: The texture is much better when the product is warm!

Cleansers -mark - That's Deep Purifying Gel Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
product_junkie6 6/10/2008 5:21:00 PM

I used a sample, full size retails for $10 CDN. This is a very refreshing cleanser for a hot summer day. The cooling affect lasts way after you wash your face, and it's excellent at removing oil from the T-Zone. This could be too harsh for dry skin though...(my cheeks felt tight afterwards). Overall, it's pretty good.

Moisturizers -mark - See Things Clearly Brightening Moisturizer
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 6/10/2008 2:30:00 PM

I have this as a sample, but the full size product costs $20 CDN. I'm not happy with this moisturizer, but that's only because I'm not really into micro-glitter and I have dry cheeks. If you have normal to oily skin this would probably be a good match for you, because it's a very light moisturizer. The glitter is very subtle but again, not for me. I don't really like the smell of this either, it takes a while for it to settle. I prefer Mark's "Matte Chance" lotion over this product.

Moisturizers -mark - Matte Chance

I got this as a sample, but it retails for $20 CDN (which I think is too expensive). Overall I'm not super impressed with product. It moisturizes well enough, but I'm still shiny in the t-zone area. Also, when I opened the sample I could really smell the alcohol. It's an ok product, but I don't think it's worth the price. I have samples of other products in the new mark. skincare line and I will review them as I try them. UPDATE: After using this for a couple days, I've discovered it's actually pretty good at keeping the shine away. It was really hot out the first day I tried it, which is probably why I was shiny. I also prefer the smell of this product more than Mark's "See Things Clearly" moisturizer.

Cleansers -mark - Mark Calming Effect Comforting Milk Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
product_junkie6 6/6/2008 1:32:00 PM

I got a sample of this product, but it sells for $10 CDN. I like this cleanser because it lathers well and is really gentle. It left my skin feeling soft but clean. I am also an avid cetaphil user but I think I will purchase this to use in the summer (when my skins gets much oilier). I didn't notice a chemical smell on this, just a light scent.

Skincare - Face -Unlisted Brand - Accutane (by prescription)
rated 1 of 5
product_junkie6 6/3/2008 12:04:00 AM

I'm happy for everyone else that had great success with this product. For me, Accutane was an awful experience. Maybe I was allergic to it. I didn't mind the purging of the skin and all that, but my skin on my arms were peeling off in layers. My lips were SUPER dry and bleeding all the time. Even polysporin didn't help. I'd rather have acne than be in pain. It did clear up my skin for about 8 months and then the acne came back. Not worth it for me.

Lip Treatments -Burt's Bees - Replenishing Lip Balm with Pomegranate Oil
rated 1 of 5
product_junkie6 3/14/2008 11:32:00 PM

HORRIBLE! I bought this because it's suppose to be 99% natural, which is higher than the other Burts bees lip balms that I love. It may be natural, but something in it irritates the skin on my lips. I'm relieved (sort of) that I'm not the only one who has had problems with this, I thought it was just my imagination for a while. Also, repeated application makes your lips turn a weird reddish orange colour. I would not buy this again.

Lip Gloss -mark - Glossblossom Ripening Lip Tint
rated 1 of 5
product_junkie6 2/27/2008 12:11:00 AM

I haven't bought this product but it is almost exactly the same thing as O-Gloss Intuitive lip gloss (Smashbox). Neither of these products actually adjust to your skin. They are made with a compound that turns pink when it reacts with air. I don't know exactly how, but the level of pinkness probably depends on the moisture of your lips or something. A friend of mine got O-glow on her sink and it turned hot pink right there. All I know for sure if that they are expensive gimmicks and definitely not worth buying.

Lip Gloss -Iman - Luxury Lip Shine - Exotique
rated 4 of 5
product_junkie6 1/18/2008 10:31:00 PM

I think the colour I have is Exotique, it doesn't actually say on the packaging. It was about $15 CDN at Sears when I got it. I'm very happy with the colour though. It really enhances my lips without making them look too shiny or too made-up. I would have preferred if it came with a brush instead of being a squeeze tube because the top gets messy sometimes. I don't find that it moisturizes but it also doesn't dry my lips out so I can't complain. I went back to buy another one but they didn't have any in this colour which was a disappointing. Hopefully new stock comes in soon.

This is my favourite face lotion! It's affordable and it doesn't break me out at all. I will definitely buy this again.

If you have sensitive lips, this stuff is not for you. It burns! Otherwise, the colour is very pretty.

Liquid -Clinique - Supermoisture Makeup
rated 2 of 5
product_junkie6 12/7/2007 11:21:00 PM

I got this as a sample in some magazine I bought, so I can't really rate the price or the packaging. I have really dry skin and I hate wearing foundation but this stuff felt so comfortable! The only issue I have with it is the glitter. The other comments people have written are totally right, the stuff if loaded with micro glitter. For someone who doesn't usually wear makeup I found it a bit distracting but I'm not sure if people who look at me would notice. The sample didn't have the colour on it so I have no idea what I tried on but it had a gold shimmer to it. UPDATE: I bought it in Warm Caramel which seems to be a good colour for me. It feels really nice but I still don't like the glitter in it. I was hoping that it would be less noticeable if I had the right colour. I've been putting loose powder over it to get rid of the overly-shiny look, which may be a good fix for anyone else who bought this and isn't happy.

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula
rated 3 of 5
product_junkie6 11/23/2007 5:10:00 PM

I have been using Palmers Cocoa Butter for quite a while and I really like it. It's a staple for my winter skin-care routine. I get severely dry skin in the winter, so I massage this onto my skin before bed and in the morning my skin feels so much better. I would NOT recommend this for summer use, especially during the day, it will just feel gross on your skin. As for the smell, I would describe it as a strong chocolate-ty smell but I don't mind it. Now, I know there is Mineral Oil in it, but I have yet to find a reliable source of information that says Mineral Oil is bad for me. Until then, I'll take this product which only has 5 ingredients (and they are all ingredients that I recognize) over other products that are a cocktail of stuff with weird names.
