Like in my review for the shampoo...I don't believe in the argan oil hype...it doesn't make sense for all these companies to include this ingredient in their line when the trees are soo rare and only grow in Morocco. Think about it. Garnier must manufacture thousands of bottles of this stuff...and other companies must manufacture the same amount right? Think Josie Maran, One N' Only, Organix, Mark Anthony, FX, Nick Chavez...anyways....something just doesn't add up. This is also in ADDITION to vendors I have seen who have BOTTLES of this stuff at the local markets, claiming that their families are from Morocco etc. Or online, you can find bottles of "argan oil" from a lot of cosmetic supply companies. Anyhoo... The only thing I really liked about this was the smell. I hate how regular fructis smells, this was really refreshing and I liked how it smelled in the shower. As far as conditioning qualities go, my cheap Sallys Ion Inspired by Nature Conditioner does a better job conditioning than this stuff. Which was soo suprising. I thought my hair would feel nourished, moisturized and well...sleek and smooth! I *almost* followed with a leave in conditioner because it didn't condition my hair that well. I probably won't try another Fructis product...although that fall out stuff looks interesting, but who knows that might not work either.
Eh. I don't buy into the hype these days about argan oil. It seems like a ton of companies are now including this ingredient in their products. How?? This so called sacred tree only produces x amount of oil per year...and there are only so many trees...that only grow in Morocco. Josie Maran is the first on the block to create her products with argan oil, and she sells hundreds of products. I dunno. Back to this shampoo.... Made my hair really really tangly in the shower. Which was sooo weird because I *thought* when something is labeled "sleek and smooth" it should do just that. When I rinsed it dry, my hair felt squeaky..like I washed it with detergent...I followed with conditioner but avoided my roots and when I went to blowdry, my roots felt damaged and dry. Sorry Garnier, the only thing good about this shampoo is the fragrance...it was refreshing to smell something other than the dreaded signature fructis smell.
Treatments -Kiehls - Midnight Recovery Concentrate
pinknika 7/9/2012 5:01:00 PM
I think I have a little under a teaspoon left in my blue bottle...that I probably will never use again. This stuff is no miracle for me, I didn't see any improvement at all and the bottle is almost gone. Fine lines- still there, parched skin...still there. Gave me a glow...any OIL will give you a "glow". I would wakeup every morning hoping that this stuff would work. Nope. Another disapointment. I was starting to really like Kiehl's but I can't say its because of this product. At least it didn't seem to break me out! Oh well, another one bites the dust.
Lip Treatments -eos - Lip Balm Sphere - Summer Fruit
pinknika 7/9/2012 12:14:00 PM
UPDATE: Gave me really terrible lip acne (whiteheads around lips) and therefore I cannot use at all. I like this stuff, I really do. What intrigued me was the ball type packaging, soo cute! I read the reviews before purchasing and some people said it dried their lips out, it isn't as waxy or emollient as some other chapsticks but I think it still moisturizes. I was worried about it breaking me out (I tend to get whiteheads around my lips with some chapstick) but it hasn't! The summer fruit smell is okay, you can really tell there is a smoky shea butter smell/taste to it, which I don't really like, I'm not a big shea butter fan. But overall good/cute/tasty chapstick. I want to try the other flavors!
BB Cream -Garnier - BB Cream Miracle Skin Perfector - Light/Medium
pinknika 7/9/2012 12:04:00 PM
This stuff is freakin gross!! So I ran around like a maniac yesterday trying to get my hands on the Maybelline dream fresh bb cream, I couldn't find that ANYWHERE so instead I caved in and bought this product instead. Big mistake. Not only does it oxidize after an hour of wear, it is sooo oily and greasy. It rubs off everything and it broke me out. By the end of the day I looked like a sweaty oily oompa loompa. It also is highly fragranced which can be irritating to some people. So MAD. I hope I can return it to Target :( .
Gels/Soaps -Alba Botanica - Alba Hawaiian Passion Fruit body wash
pinknika 7/6/2012 1:05:00 PM
2 things I hate about this product: the fragrance, and the non moisturizing capabilities. I couldn't smell this first as I bought this on vitacost. The smell is so medicinal to me, it almost like a cough syrup smell. And I wasn't looking for a real moisturizing body wash, just a normal kind that wouldn't dry my skin out. Well it did, and made my sunless tan dry up and look so lizardy. I normally love Alba products, I really like their cleansers and toners, chapstick etc. But this stuff is just not good at all.
Great body wash!! I love that it doesn't have any mineral oil or petrolatum which can interefere with a sunless tan! I love shaving with it too, so creamy and hydrating. The smell is okay, nothing too amazing. I'm so glad that I found such a great body wash, my skin was soo dry and it was due to some Alba Botanica body wash crap that totally dried my skin out. I hope this stays around forever!
Misc Beauty Tools -Unlisted Brand - Nuface Microcurrent Facial Toning System
pinknika 7/6/2012 12:08:00 PM
I purchased the Nuface Trinity in January and returned it in April. At first my results were good, you could see a small difference in the plumpness and lift between the left side and right side of my face. Althought that was great, the next morning it would be gone and of course, reading what other people have said, results are cumulative. Well after 3 months of daily use, the same thing would happen, plump and full after usage and then wakeup to the same old me. I didn't like the gel, it would dry up too fast, aloe vera seemed like a bad substitute as it didn't conduct well when I used it. I also didn't like the few zaps and tiny shocks it would give you when the gel dried up. And didn't like how it stimulates the optic nerve... overall, this would be a good temporary fix, for a red carpet event or whatever but no long term results. Oh and I don't think this should be in the "toners" section, its a misc beauty tool.
This product is HOT on all the forums, and now they are selling this on TV as an infomercial. I'm suprised there are no reviews for this on MUA. I first saw this on QVC but didn't purchase, I just did it through the Lighstim website a few months ago where you get a peptide serum and a timer with it. The Results: I'm happy to report my skin is CLEAR which is so weird because I didn't get the one for Acne, I just got the one for wrinkles, they are different lights all together, the acne is the blue light, and the wrinkles are the amber. Anyways, no real results on wrinkles, I have been using it for 3 months and I can't say that there are any improvements. I really bought this for my eyes, as I have some fine lines underneath them and I just wanted to get rid of them. I did treat my whole face just for an added benefit. Which takes FOREVER. Its 3 minutes per area of the face, so if you do the forehead, the corners of your eyes, under eyes, nasal labial folds, and sides of cheek, you get 9 areas x 3 minutes 27 minutes. Sure thats not a lot of time and you could watch TV or whatever but adding this to my beauty routine at night left me kinda exhausted. It also doesn't have a timer, so I use my phone and just time 3 minutes per area, the timer they gave me as a gift is garbage so it doesn't work, would be nice if they had a built it timer like the Nuface where it beeps to tell you to move on to the next area. This does also dry out my skin as well, I took a week long break and found that my dryness is gone on my cheeks, hmmm coincidence? Overall I will continute to use this for my clear skin ha ha, maybe someday it will work for major wrinkles when I get them. I have read hundreds of reviews online and a lot of people like this gadget.
Hair -Got 2 Be - Rockin' It Encore Fresh Dry Shampoo
pinknika 7/6/2012 11:35:00 AM
EDIT: After the 3rd use, this stuff disapeared! This morning as I'm trying to spray this stuff on, no powdery spray comes out, only wet hairspray stuff that doesn't get rid of oil. There is a TON left in there, I can hear it when I shake it...I don't understand, it was working great last week. I really like this dry shampoo! I normally go for Batiste, but its been out forever at my local Sallys and I didn't want to spend extra $$ at this other beauty supply store in town. I really like the fragrance, I like it better than Batiste, as it has sort of a weird smell I can't describe, this smells fresh and a little citrusy. I think it does a good job masking the oil and it does give my hair some body. I deducted a lippy because it comes out of the can pure white, I have dark roots so it does show up on brown hair gray, but I haven't found a dry shampoo that doesn't. I have tried: Ion dry shampoo, Batiste, Batiste Hint of Color, Pssst and Klorane. Klorane is my fav, and it was the first dry shampoo I've ever tried but its soo much $$$. Overall, I'm very happy with Got 2 B and not sure if I'll stray...its so interesting to see more hair care companys come out with dry shampoo, you all should have thought of that years ago!!
I used to love the grass roots feast your eyes but they discontinued it. This one has the makings of a really great eye cream, it has a lot of good ingredients and it is very moisturizing. However, I'm giving this a 2 because I think it's causing my puffy eyes. I'd wake up with mad water retention and bags, last night I didn't put this cream on and today I woke up with the best eyes! No puffiness, nice and tight and normal. I think it's this cream, I'm gonna stop using it. Oh and no improvement on fine lines, they're still there after 2 months.
Lotions/ Creams -Nature's Gate - Herbal Unscented Body Lotion
pinknika 6/27/2012 1:58:00 PM
Ditto on what the reviewer below me said, actually I almost wrote those exact words! This new forumula is horrible, it doesn't moisturize, it leaves white streaks and doesn't absorb at all. I'm still on the hunt for a fragrance free lotion that does A GOOD JOB of moisturizing, sorry Natures Gate, this isn't it!
I too, thought this deoderant sucked, like the reviewer below me, I experienced some major hair growth! It was so weird and I had to shave a ton more. I really gave it time too, as I just finished the whole thing and threw it away as the deoderant itself came up and popped out of its case. Still hairy! Whats worse, and I am embarrased to admit this, but I smelled WORSE as the day went on. And I never smell! (Well, I can go at least a day w/out deoderant,) but this one made me smell foul and didn't do anything. Maybe its the moisturizing lotion part, just makes things more moist and gross. I just replaced this with the secret unscented deoderant and I'm feeling much better! I don't care about the shaving part, I just want to feel fresh!
I am in LOVE but also in utter sadness because this is $140 for an ouce...an OUNCE. I got a decanted one from the perfumed court. Hopefully it was the real thing because it was smelled great...but not of coconuts! It starts off very fresh, picture a cool tropical lagoon with a waterfall and a hot cabana boy handing you a shot of rum with a juicy bright lime and a glass of sparkling water. The dry down is a very subtle lime almost floral and a tiny bit of musk. I really love this scent and I'm just soo pissed that it costs so freakin much! BUT I guess I could just decant my way for this fragrance.
Self Tanners -Nature's Gate - Glow Lotion-Medium Skin Tones
pinknika 6/13/2012 12:12:00 PM
WOOOWWW. I'm impressed. I'm REALLY impressed. I have had a long self-tanning journey, starting from Loreals sublime bronze, to Airbrush Solution, (React, AYU) Jergens, Dove, Malibu Hemp, some Aloe brand, Toma's Tan Perfect, St. Moriz, Coppertones Endless Summer, Neutrogena, Sally Hansen Airbrush Sun, Bain de Soleil, Nivea. Anyways you get the point, the only thing thats missing here are high end stuff, and I am NOT going to buy a bottle of something that costs big $$$ that is going to last me two coats. I am really suprised this is labeled as a gradual lotion, as the second day, I was really tan! Like Tan as in I applied self tanner. The color is great but is a tinge bright, and it dries pretty well, no streaking, the smell is like a weird citrus and has a low developing odor. I think the % of DHA is super high its listed as the 3rd ingredient, but this stuff is great! No comment on how it fades, I hope it fades great as it is a moisturing tanner. I think I might have found my HG and $12 for 16 oz (amazon) you can't beat it!
