Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Crystal Mauve
rated 5 of 5

I'm crazy for these Moisture Renew lipsticks. Crystal Mauve is a blue based, sheer plummy color. A close dupe for MAC's Sophisto l/s. I dislike the packaging, a creepy plastic purple, but I adore what's inside so that's all that's important. This is a nice, top quality lipstick that is a cross between a gloss and a lipstick. The scent reminds me of a great suntan lotion from my childhood. I will purchase more of these.

Powder -Lancome - Dual Finish Versatile Powder Makeup

I have no idea why I stopped using this a few years ago. I was swayed by mineral "stuff" and other powder foundations (MAC et al..) ... This is the best powder foundation for all skin types, it gives a slight glow, without shimmer and you can actually see your skin through it. There is no mask or powder stuff lingering. It is perfect and I will never again be without it...unless some miracle powder foundation comes along. For now this is it for me. A big plus is they don't fool around with shades or the threat of discontinuing it...which is a huge plus. Considering all the money I wasted on other products, $32.50 for this is a steal!!! My dad was right: you get what you pay for.

Lipstick -Rimmel - Moisture Renew - Berry Rose
rated 5 of 5
ninanina 5/16/2010 11:03:00 AM

This is a $5 dupe for Mac's "Plumful" and "London Life" and NARS "Shrinagar" lipsticks. This is a beautiful rosy/berry with just a hint of blue. It's a lustre, not a frost and almost but not quite a sheer. It's just really creamy. The quality of this lipstick is that of Nars, Mac (lustres) and Chanel. I'm always happy when I can find a "good quality" dupe and this doesn't fail. I study lipsticks and Rimmel's Moisture Renew line is right up there as a good top quality lipstick. I hope this helps for those looking for a good dupe.

Mascara -MAC - Zoom lash
rated 1 of 5

Horrible mascara. I suppose this would be good if you want to look like something out of a cartoon, clumpy and tends to drag lashes down. It was a freebee with a Mac purchase, I threw it out and will not buy it.

Moisturizers -Aveeno - Ultra-Calming Daily Moisturizer SPF 15

I couldn't tell anyone if this worked to reduce redness because I had to take it off as soon as I put it on. This is far too waxy and the scent is that of a cheap suntan lotion. Now, that cannot be good for the skin on your face. I certainly didn't expect it to be wax like. I would avoid this at all costs if you have redness.

Lipstick -MAC - Ramblin Rose Lipstick

I can't rave about this color. It looked different in the store....sheesh why does that happen? It comes off as a pure gold frost on me. I'll use it to layer over other lippies. On its own it's a blah gold frost. Won't buy again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Omega
rated 5 of 5
ninanina 3/4/2010 7:53:00 PM

I got this as an eyebrow color. It's perfect for blondes. I wish there was a little eyebrow brush in with it, since it's a eye shadow I guess that's asking too much. I use a stiff little brush to apply it and it works. I will always use this color for eyebrows. It's a great light brown, no darkness in it and better yet it doesn't turn a wierd red that some eyebrow colors can. **UPDATE** Ok, I am now using this as a contour and a slight bronzer, it works for my coloring. This is like a true triple play, eybrows, cheeks and eyes...it's a must have for me!

Gels/Soaps -Olay - Age Defying Body Wash
rated 1 of 5
ninanina 2/11/2010 8:42:00 PM

This stuff is a greasy mess. I got a sample of it and thought I'd give it a try in this dry winter weather. Holy smokes, I had to grab a bar of Ivory soap to get this GREASE off of my body. The worst! Oh, and as a plus it smells like cheap perfume. All in all a real mess, it went in the trash.

Lipstick -NARS - Shrinagar
rated 4 of 5
ninanina 2/6/2010 9:03:00 PM

I didn't get a back up for MAC's Sophisto, and they were out of it so I bought Shrinagar as a quick buy. It was a toss up between this and Russian Doll (NARS)...I'm going back to Sophisto, it's creamier and just a perfect rose/berry. Shrinagar is more "blue" and that doesn't work for me in this formula.

Moisturizers -Fresh - Soy Face Cream
rated 1 of 5

I feel shallow giving a bad rating to a product because of the smell, but I have to here. The product might produce what it says, but I couldn't keep it on long enough to find out. To say it "STINKS" is putting it mildly. fresh soy face cream does not smell fresh.

Lipstick -Korres - Mango Butter Lipstick in Fuschia 54
rated 5 of 5
ninanina 1/27/2010 9:06:00 PM

Since I've been on a bright lipstick kick I have found this and Nars Funny Face. With FF, I found it was too dry unless I wanted to slather on gloss or primer, which I despise doing. So, I found Korres Fuschia 54 which is a glossy lippie but in a tube. The color is fantastic, a lovely blue, somewhat sparkly Fuschia. Not long wearing but doesn't vanish quickly either and leaves a sexy little stain. The tube is wonderful, it's rather like an old fashioned lipstick tube, metal, crisp white with a sweet little click. I can't explain it, but I love holding this lipstick, it's like holding my mother's lipstick when I was a young girl. I will get other colors in the Mango Butter line. Thanks Korres.

Moisturizers -Korres - Wild Rose 24-Hour Cream
rated 1 of 5
ninanina 1/27/2010 8:35:00 PM

I got a sample of this from Sephora, tried it for a week and have found there is nothing great about this cream. Actually, it felt rather cheap, without depth or richness. It smells the same as a Clarins hand cream I use. I wouldn't buy this, there is better out there, maybe even by Korres.

Lipstick -MAC - Pink Burst
rated 5 of 5

Bravo MAC! The perfect, perfect pink/rose for Spring...it's new, it's hot and it's perfect! Wore this to a party last night (got it in advance from a Lauder person) and everyone wanted it. You'll be pleased with this lippie, it's a lovely departure from the drab nude lip.

Mascara -Tarte - Lash Hugger Mascara
rated 1 of 5
ninanina 1/7/2010 8:26:00 PM

Junk mascara. It dries too quickly and doesn't move at all. I had little balls of black gunk on the ends of my lashes when I was done. It was a sample and went in the trash after two tries. I'm sticking with Benefits "Bad Gal"; it is a superior mascara.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Sophisto
rated 5 of 5
ninanina 12/24/2009 1:57:00 AM

Dolce Vita (NARS) meet your match = Sophisto (MAC). While DV is my HG in lipstick I always felt it was lacking in two resepects, the ability to last and a needed oomph of rose. That's where Sophisto comes in. This lipstick is a warm berry/rose with some gold in it, and it takes a while to fade. I'll always have a tube of DV with me and I believe Francois Nars makes the finest cosmetics out there, Sophisto lives up to its name, it's in a word: sophisticated. Merry Christmas all **EDIT: Well, I'm back to Sophisto! after 2 years of fiddling around with oh let's say 15 different lipsticks I am now wearing this again ONLY...I bought 2 backups. The reason? because it's the best: berry, mauve, brown, bronze allllllllllllllll mixed up into one...who could ask for more?!? I love it and hope MAC never discontinues this shade. Oh, and did I mention it feels like silk and is NOT drying ??? Perfection!
