Blush -Everyday Minerals - Apple
mayrei 10/22/2007 10:33:00 PM
This is near perfect. This is exactly the color I was looking for, and if I use a light hand, it looks absolutely perfect. Unfortunately, I'm heavyhanded and need something a little bit lighter to make it fool-proof. No fault of EM's, though. I will definitely buy this again.

Blush -Alima - Satin Matte Blush in Apple Blossom
mayrei 10/22/2007 10:13:00 PM
This is a nice pink, but it didn't show up on my PPP skin well enough. If you had *very* pale skin, it would probably give a nice glow, but my skin's natural blush is already this color! I ended up mixing it with the Dianthus shimmer blush, and it works better for me. I probably won't buy it again, though.

Blush -Alima - Luminous Shimmer Blush in Dianthus

It's a pretty color, but too dark on my PPP skin, and wayyyy too glittery. It might be ok for going out at night? But I feel that no blush should have this much glitter in it.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Pink Opal
mayrei 10/17/2007 12:37:00 PM
I love this pigment. The pink iridescent shine is understated, but sooooo pretty. I got this as a 1/4 tsp sample about two years ago, and it's finally almost gone. A little goes a long way. I've found a lot of use for it... mixing with other shades, highlighting the browbone and inner corners of my eyes. I will definitely buy it again.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Pigment in Dark Soul
mayrei 10/16/2007 12:24:00 AM
I tend to go for a smokier eye for work, but don't want anything *too* dramatic. Dark Soul is perfect for that. I've very pale and tend to feel like black shadow is just too much for me. This is sultry without being too bold. I haven't had any problems with it... it goes on smooth, blends well. The glitter isn't that noticeable to me, though. If you want something really glittery, this isn't the way to go.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Teal Pigment
mayrei 10/15/2007 8:29:00 PM

Insanely gorgeous. I would buy it again, but I probably won't ever need to, as this is enough to last years and years. The color is a bit more bold than what I'm used to, but it makes an amazing eyeliner. A rich, shiny teal that makes my brown eyes pop. I top it with Dark Soul for a deeper, smokier look.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Thunder

Maybe I got a bad batch or I'm doing something wrong.... this looks like purplish-grey mud on me. No matter how I apply it... wet, dry, with a brush, with a sponge applicator.... it looks streaky, uneven, and muddy. It's a nightmare to blend. It's not shimmery or duochrome on me, either. It looks duochrome in the pan, and on my finger if I pull up a LOT of the product, but I can't get it heavy enough on my eyes to see anything interesting, and by the time I was done trying, I looked like I'd been punched in both eyes. This is my first MAC eyeshadow, so I'm very disappointed. Maybe I should stick to pigments.

Fragrances -Thierry Mugler - Angel Celestial Hair Mist
mayrei 10/15/2007 7:53:00 PM
I had a sample of this that I loved. A nice light version of the EDP that I could wear anytime. It doesn't last that long, but I'd carry it in my purse and reapply now and then. I got a ton of compliments on it, and no one seemed to find it overpowering like the perfume.

Lotions/ Creams -Thierry Mugler - Angel- Voile Celeste Celestial Body Lotion
mayrei 10/15/2007 5:10:00 PM
The lotion is great, very rich and the scent is very true to the perfume, but it is just too strong. People can smell me from around the corner when I use this stuff. Also, the squeeze bottle doesn't really allow you to control how much you get out... it dispenses the same big dollop every time.

This is my HG perfume, and I've worn it for years. It's my "signature" scent and my boyfriend says that to him, that scent is a part of who I am, and he loves it. He finds it soft and warm and different. I experiment with other perfumes, but I always come back to this. It's warm, but also light and fun... chocolatey, powdery, and sweet. The first time I sniffed it from a tester, I was in love. Then the pushy Nordstrom salesman sprayed a blast of it directly on my wrist and told me to walk around with it for a while and see how I felt. How I felt was nauseated and I got a migraine that lasted the rest of the day. However, several women in the mall walked up to me that day and asked me what I was wearing, said it was amazing, etc. So I bought it. What I've learned through trial and error is that you have to use a very, very light hand. If I'm wearing it to work, I spray it into the air, count to three, and walk through the mist. If I'm wearing it out somewhere, I hold the bottle away from my body and just spray, but I have to do that several hours before I leave the house... haha. This stuff is strong, and the scent lingers all day. Amazingly, I've been using the same 25ml bottle for about 6 years, and it's still around 1/4 full.

Fragrances -Fendi - Fendi Theorema EDP
mayrei 10/15/2007 5:26:00 AM
This is my new favorite scent for fall. It's not exactly what I was looking for... I wanted something zestier, warm but with a kick to it. This is so smooth and comforting, though, that I can't stop sniffing it. Unfortunately, it does not last on me! It's seriously gone within an hour. I've been carrying it in my purse and reapplying, but I really wish it had better staying power.

Fragrances -Fendi - Palazzo

Like others have said here, I came across the scent strip in a magazine and fell in love. It was warm and spicy, sort of peppery, but still light and fresh and just... different. I got a mini of the EDP to try it out, and was disappointed. It *does* smell like soap. Not like Zest or anything, but more like a fancy French decorative soap. It's not a bad scent by any means, but not at all what I was expecting. It's good for daytime... I wear it to work and it's light enough to be unoffensive, and I think I might wear it in the summer. I was looking for something warmer and richer for fall, and Theorema seems to fit the bill for now.

Powder -Everyday Minerals - Foundation - Intensive formula [DISCONTINUED]
mayrei 10/15/2007 4:01:00 AM
This is my first mineral foundation. I tried it based on reviews here, and have been using it for about two weeks now. So far, I love it. I use the intensive fair, and it lasts all day and looks very natural. It doesn't take very much at all, and it doesn't leave my skin looking too powdery or cakey. I haven't had any problem with it wearing off by the end of the day. (Update: I bought a full size of this and wore it today after trying a few others mineral foundations, and I think this one does look a tiny bit too heavy. I have to apply very little and blend a lot to get a perfectly natural look. But I still think it have good coverage for most days. It really does last all day on me, and controls oil well.)

Concealers -Everyday Minerals - Intensive Fair concealer [DISCONTINUED]

Hands down the best concealer I've tried. This is a HG for me. Completely covers blemishes and last all day. I got it in the sample kit, and the sample was very generous... I probably won't have to buy the full size for at least a couple of months. The color is perfect for my super pale complexion. Works great on undereye circles, too.

Makeup Brushes -Everyday Minerals - Premium Kabuki Brush [DISCONTINUED]
mayrei 10/14/2007 4:40:00 PM
I like it well enough. It did shed worse than my dog for the first week, but it's been about two weeks now and it seems to have stopped. This is my first kabuki brush, so I don't really have anything to compare it to, but it is soft enough and does a good job applying my mineral foundation. I have no complaints, except that it was a little expensive. I'm saying "no" on buying it again, because if anything ever happens to this brush I'll probably try out a different brand just to compare.
