Powders -Unlisted Brand - Mattify! Cosmetics - Mattify! Loose Powder for Oily Skin
rated 2 of 5

I am so sad this did not work for me! I have super oily skin and have used so many different primers, mattifiers, powders, and foundations in the constant search for something that works. This unfortunately did nothing for me. I tried applying with sponges, powder poufs, brushes, you name it. I tried it under makeup, over makeup and in between. I still had to blot often throughout the day! It did not help keep my skin from being shiny and it also left me a bit paler, I think.

Eye Primer -Too Faced - Shadow Insurance - Candlelight, Softly Illuminating Anti-Crease Eye Shadow Primer
rated 4 of 5

I actually like this better than the original. It somehow works better on me. I have both matte and shimmery eyeshadows and when I wear matte eyeshadows I use MAC's paint pot to prime. When I wear shimmery eyeshadows, I use this! It is great, keeps creasing at bay and also intensifies the color of my eyeshadows I apply over it.

Eye Primer -NARS - Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 4/9/2012 10:55:00 AM

I do like this primer for my oily lids because it is smooth, silky, & colorless. I apply it and then let it sit for a minute while I decide what to apply that day. I find that letting it sit for 30 seconds to a minute helps it to last longer and it is no longer tacky when I apply my eyeshadows, making them easier to blend. If you apply immediately, then it is still wet and blending is awful. I would not repurchase because MAC paint pot primes and conceals the redness on my eyelids, evening everything out and making me look more awake. Since I dont want to use two products when one will do the trick, I wont repurchase. I like the TFSI applicator better than NARS because TFSI you can get every last bit out of the tube and it only applies a little bit at a time whereas with NARS you'd have to cut it open to get out the last and I think it wastes product.

Conditioner -Moroccanoil - Moisture Repair Conditioner
rated 5 of 5

I am on my 5th bottle of this conditioner. It is the only one that I keep coming back to because it is the only thing that always works. Over the years I feel compelled to try new and different products, but this is the only one that always works for me so I really ought to just stop wasting my money on other things and just accept that this is it. Other lines that I try and retry (because they used to work well years ago) just dont seem to work the same way after a while. I dont know if my hair keeps changing, hormones, climate, or what but Moroccanoil is the only brand that my hair always does well with regardless of where I am. I have to note I never use just this alone, I always use the shampoo, conditioner, and oil/styling cream. I love it, and my hairdresser always says how healthy my hair is despite my coloring it every 6 weeks. Would highly recommend and I love the smell too. I always get compliments on it and have been asked what perfume I am wearing (I wasnt, it was this)

Cleansers -Dermalogica - Dermal Clay Facial Cleanser
rated 3 of 5
lunalove 4/9/2012 9:32:00 AM

I have oily acne prone skin that still manages to be sensitive. I would only use this cleanser in the mornings bc 1) you dont have any gunk on your face in the mornings usually, and 2) it really tightens the pores up and takes care of oil, short term. I dont like to use this at night because it does tighten the pores up and has a cooling sensation on the face. Since I want my products to sink in at night and also do any extractions at night, I do not want my pores temporarily shrinking at that time. I also find the cooling sensation as a bit of a wake up, which is also not what I want before bed. For the price, there are other cleansers that work as well. I prefer dermalogica's clearing skin wash.

Mascara -Tarte - Lights Camera Lashes
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 4/9/2012 7:57:00 AM

This mascara makes my lashes look very long and defined. It isnt huge on volume but doesnt leave my lashes looking sparse either. It is not a glossy mascara but rather matte black. It does last all day on me and does not smudge, which is a huge plus. I dont know why they make the tube so fat, Id like it better like the sample tubes they have, a purple hard plastic with a design on it instead of the pillowy case they have.

Masks -Kiehls - Rare Earth Facial Cleansing Masque
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 4/1/2012 12:31:00 PM

I liked this- but I think it is best for oily skin with clogged pores (blackheads, not cysts). It is important to note that this did NOT sting my face like so many other masks do. I tried the borghese masks that everyone seems to rave over and thought my face was on fire. Same with exfolikate that so many bloggers and reviewers like. I tried them several times with the same results. I dont understand why they stung so badly but I cannot use them. This mask did not sting my face, neither do the LUSH fresh masks or the PTR sulfur cooling mask. I used it once a week after washing my face with a gentle cleanser and left it on for the prescribed 10-15 minutes. It left my skin soft and smooth, and opened my pores so I could easily extract my blackheads. I followed with a toner and moisturizer and went to bed. The only reason I wouldnt repurchase is that I like trying new things. If I dont find anything I like better Ill come back to this.

Eye Shadow -Chanel - Illusion d'Ombre
rated 5 of 5
lunalove 3/31/2012 9:45:00 AM

I have this in several colors but this review is for Fantasme as it isnt listed separately here on MUA. At first I was hesitant about purchasing this as many said it was very sheer and not worth the price but honestly I find myself reaching for it more than the others because it is a sparkly shimmery white that you can use for almost any eye look on the inner part of your eye- I use it almost daily and then just use any other color in the outer V of my eye! Love it. I have extremely oily skin and most eyeshadows crease on me even with a primer but this doesnt. I apply primer, wait a few seconds, and then take some of this out of the pot with the included brush onto my finger and apply it with my finger. I get the best coverage that way and can see where it goes better and I like to feel the mousse-y texture of it. The only reason I would take lippies off is if this dries out too quickly, but I havent had it long enough to tell that yet.

Liquid -Givenchy - Photo'Perfexion 100% Natural Complexion 0 Flaw
rated 3 of 5
lunalove 3/31/2012 9:40:00 AM

While the color, perfect praline, suits me quite well (better than many other brands in fact) I simply cannot use this because I have extremely oily acne prone skin and while this covered quite well it left me feeling too greasy and halfway through the day my makeup was sliding off of my face despite me trying various primers and setting powders. If you have sensitive skin/nose then be aware that there is a distinct smell- personally Im fine with that, but just be aware of it. To me it is not unpleasant. Very sad that it seems that either the formula doesnt work for me or the color doesnt! Have yet to find an HG :(

Primer/ Corrector -Unlisted Brand - Monistat - Chafing Relief Powder-Gel
rated 3 of 5
lunalove 3/29/2012 6:31:00 PM

For the purpose of a facial primer this was awful on my oily acne prone skin. Everything just slides right off of it and it did nothing to block oil. I give it 3 lippies for its actual intended purpose, which it actually does quite well.

Cleansers -Clinique - Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 3/29/2012 7:21:00 AM

I think this is fabulous for travel because it wont leak and it takes off all your makeup so you dont need a separate eye makeup remover. Especially in the summer when we have heavy sunscreen on our face and waterproof mascara, I think this is great! As others have said, with clean hands get out a goodly amount to rub over your entire dry face, carefully massaging it around and over the eyes, and then rinse with warm water. I would always follow up with a cleanser and moisturizer, but that's just me; I have to know my face is really clean. I do think that my skin feels a bit dry sometimes after use but then I put on moisturizer and it is a moot point.

Eye Makeup Remover -TheBalm - Balms Away Eye Makeup Breakup
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 3/29/2012 7:16:00 AM

This is an eye makeup remover, not really meant for your whole face. For that purpose, it works wonderfully when used correctly. With clean hands, run your finger over the surface to get a dollop and then rub that over your eyes very carefully in circular motions for 15-30 seconds. I then take a paper towel and wet it and wring it out- then wipe it over my eyes to take everything off. Works wonderfully to take off all of my eye makeup (eyeliner, mascara, bright eyeshadows, you name it) and it leaves my eye area feeling very soft and moisturized, almost like I used an eye cream. I use clinique's TKDD balm as well (especially when traveling) and it does work for your entire face but always leaves me feeling a bit dry everywhere.

Toners -L'Oreal - Hydrafresh Toner
rated 4 of 5
lunalove 3/29/2012 7:10:00 AM

I have oily acne prone skin, but when I use toners marketed for that skin type, they dry me out terribly! So I wanted to use something more gentle. This toner is definitely more gentle which is what I wanted. I just expect it to take off any remaining makeup traces (usually around the periphery of my face) after I remove makeup and wash my face. It works very well for this purpose. I dont know if I would repurchase because I like to try out new products, but that has nothing to do with the toner itself. It does have a screw top but I just put a cotton round over the top of the bottle and flip it upside down and voila, perfect amount to cover my face.

Skincare - Face -Eve Lom - Lip Balm
rated 3 of 5
lunalove 3/24/2012 9:52:00 PM

Hmm. This primarily tastes and feels mentholated but to me that isnt too extreme. It isnt shiny and isnt really thick (compared to carmex or nuxe) but it is kind of sticky on my lips (when I press them together with the kiss mix on, they stick to each other somewhat). I think it is good under lipstick or over a lipstain but on me it wears off far too quickly and I find myself having to reapply way too much. This is odd because the texture is not slippery so I wouldnt think it would slip off but somehow it always disappears after 30 min-1 hour on me. I would say that my lips may be so dry they just soak it up but I have plenty of other lip balms where this is not the case. It isnt bad but I wouldnt repurchase for this price.
