Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Bronzer Brush

love this brush! I bought it at Harmon for only $9. I'm on my second one now because my first one started shedding like crazy after a few months. I think this is my own fault because after washing it, I would leave it standing up rather than hanging it upside down. but now that I have purchased another one, I have made sure to take better care of it and hang it upside down using a Brush Guard when I let it dry after a wash. the bristles are super soft and this brush is excellent for applying mineral foundation. just make sure you take good care of the brush or else chunks of the bristles will come off! UPDATE 06/03/11: I've tried being careful with my second brush, and it is still shedding! maybe it's the soap I'm using to wash it? I use Dr. Bronner baby castile soap. I was using my old brush as a cat toy for a while, but then decided to throw it away.

I got the finishing brush with the clear lucite handle at TJ Maxx for $5. it is a flat top brush that I use for the purpose of stippling foundation on the face. so far it has also held up well to washing. I like to keep two sets of brushes, one for my apartment at school and another at home, so I'll be buying another one of these very soon :D

Eyeliner -Prestige - Waterproof Eyeliner

I bought this in Suede to use on my waterline. it only stays for a few hours and then comes off :( I guess it's not waterproof? but my eyes aren't even that watery. at least it's fine on my upper lashline, on the skin rather than the waterline. in fact it's nearly budge-proof.

Lipstick -Revlon - Colorburst in Soft Rose [DISCONTINUED]
rated 5 of 5

BEAUTIFUL color! I had been looking for a rose lipstick that would give me the perfect look of naturally beautiful lips, which for some reason reminds me of medieval princesses O_O there was a BOGO sale on Revlon products at CVS, so I decided to get this. it's very moisturizing and the shape of the lipstick makes it easy to apply it precisely. also, the packaging is very pretty. I do find that it fades kinda quickly, but I still gave it a 5 because I think it looks a little too bold when I've just put it on but perfect after it's faded a bit. it's a little on the expensive side for drugstore lipsticks so I'd buy it when it goes on sale.

Liquid -Revlon - PhotoReady Makeup
rated 5 of 5

LOVE this foundation! I got a sample of it in a swap on MUA and just had to buy it. if you look closely, it does have tiny sparkles in it, but I don't mind because that's what gives me a beautiful glow! I used to use Rimmel Recover foundation and that also had little sparkles. as for the packaging, it has a pump so it's super easy to get just enough out of the bottle, plus it's hygienic! the color match Vanilla is great for me; not too pink, not too yellow. with some powder on top I'm good to go! it makes my skin look so beautiful that I wouldn't even need to wear any other makeup with it if I didn't want to. :)

Lip Gloss -American Beauty - Fabulous Feel Liquid Lip Color in Plush Rose (03)
rated 4 of 5

I have a sample of this, but I've had it long enough that I've gotten to see how I like the product. I rated it four lippies, taking off one only because it could be more moisturizing. but I loveeee the color. in the tube it looks like a brownish-pink and seems like it would be dark, but it gives me the perfect rosy lips! I may very well buy it.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche Lipstick in British Red
rated 5 of 5
fihe 10/2/2010 11:45:00 PM

Great lipstick! it's a bright orange-red, which I thought would be a good bit different from my WnW Sevilla Sangría lipstick, the only other red lipstick I owned at the time. it really brightens my face up without looking too loud. it also is quite moisturizing, something I really need. I find that my Rimmel 1000 Kisses lipliner in Red Dynamite is perfect for use with British Red. the only thing I really don't like about this lipstick is the smell. it smells like baby powder or something! but I really like the color as well as the formula so I don't care. hehe

Lip Liners -New York Color - Lip Liner Pencil
rated 3 of 5
fihe 10/2/2010 4:39:00 AM

Meh. I got three of these for 25¢ each (75% off of $1) when I was just starting with lipliners. they're ok, but they don't meet my personal expectations. for one thing, they seem a bit difficult to put on in that you need to press pretty hard to get any color. also, you need to constantly sharpen it as a result of pressing so hard with it, which wears down the point. I recently got some Rimmel's 1000 Kisses lipliners and they are SO much better. for $1, I'd say the NYC lipliners are good for beginners or just as a spare, but I'd rather spend a little more and get something of better quality.

Crème -Unlisted Brand - Mehron Color Cups
rated 5 of 5

I bought the Mehron Color Cup in White so I could do a white face on Halloween. well, I felt that since there would be plenty of product left after Halloween, that I should find a use for it. I discovered that it makes an excellent eyeshadow base! it's an extremely pigmented opaque white, and makes eyeshadows (especially loose powder types) really stand out! even though it's technically face paint, I find that it has a great cosmetic use as well. I got mine for $5 but on the Mehron website it's only $3.95. Get it!

Eye Shadow -New York Color - City Duet in NYC Times
rated 3 of 5
fihe 10/1/2010 10:04:00 PM

this was formerly known as Manhattan Mist. I had been excited to buy it because I love the colors black and white. well, the black side is decent, but the white side sucks! I'm only NC15 and it gives hardly any color! I find that it works under a white cream makeup base (Mehron Color Cup in White), but so would any translucent powder -______- also, I don't want to have to be REQUIRED to use a super white base with it! grr. it would be silly to keep this just for the black side, so I ought to return it.

Lipstick -Revlon - Super Lustrous in Blackberry
rated 5 of 5
fihe 10/1/2010 3:05:00 AM

Beautiful lipstick! I personally think it's a great shade for fall or winter. dark-skinned people could wear it all year round though. it's a beautiful dark red that moisturizes my lips well and also has good staying power. I hardly had to touch up even after eating a whole plate of greasy Chinese food! I don't wear dark lipstick all that often, but when I do, I use this one <3 UPDATE 12/26/10: I find myself applying this over lip balm and with a lip brush for everyday wear, because it's so dark and pigmented! that's actually a good thing because I use less product that way :)

Foundations -Make Up For Ever - HD High Definition Foundation
rated 2 of 5
fihe 9/29/2010 8:23:00 PM

ehh...I got this stuff in a generously-sized sample from Sephora, so I've used it quite a few times and gotten to see how it works on my skin. I guess that means I can write a review on it. well, I REALLY wanted to love this makeup because I heard great things about it, but it didn't seem to work well on me. granted, I was using way too much at first, causing it to get cakey, but even after I mastered the application technique, it would look weird on my face, melting off in the oily/sweaty parts and highlighting the dry patches. I have combination skin, so I was thinking this product would work, but apparently not. I use mostly drugstore makeup but was looking for a good high-end foundation, but I refuse to spend upwards of $40 on a foundation that will make my face look less than perfect -_- what a shame. UPDATE 11/30/10: I have been using Revlon PhotoReady for the past month or two and I find that it has the same weird effect on my skin as this MUFE HD (except PhotoReady has sparkles, which I don't mind). maybe I'm just dumb with liquid foundation application. nevertheless, if a $10 foundation works just as well, I'm sticking with that. also, the MUFE shade 117 I had tried was too yellow, and the other ones in its range were too pink or just too dark. Oh dear!

Blush -Milani - Smooth Finish Blush - Luminous
rated 5 of 5
fihe 9/13/2010 3:31:00 AM

So pretty! it's a gorgeous golden-pink with a good amount of pigment. imo it looks a lot like MAC Springsheen or NARS Orgasm (said to be a dupe for the latter). my only gripe is that it seems to be quite powdery, meaning that when I use my brush on it, the blush in the pot has a lot of powder gather up on the top, leading to a waste of product. oh well, at least it's a lot cheaper than the previously mentioned brands.

Blush -New York Color - Blushable Creme Stick in 644U Plaza Pink
rated 4 of 5
fihe 9/10/2010 3:14:00 AM

this is a very good concept. you could either get some product on your fingers and then apply to your face, or use a brush. sometimes I even apply it directly to my face and then blend. this color is a very bright pink on my fair skin, so I would make sure not to wear it with too much other dramatic makeup. I'm not sure if I'd buy this color again, but I really like that it's in a convenient stick form and could be applied on the go without a brush.

Eyeliner -Wet 'n' Wild - Color Icon Pencil - Taupe
rated 5 of 5
fihe 8/19/2010 3:16:00 AM

I don't use this as an eyeliner but it's the BEST EYEBROW PENCIL EVER! just like everyone else, I found out about this pencil from a video by fafinettex3. she often uses expensive makeup products, so I figured if she likes this eyebrow pencil, it has to be good. I got one on sale at my local supermarket for 69¢, figuring I had nothing to lose. I was VERY impressed by this pencil! I have used WnW eye pencils in the past as eyeliner, only to be disappointed by their waxy/creamy texture causing them to get stuck in my eyelashes. well, that same texture is great for brows because it makes the hairs lay down. I find that it gets used up fast because it needs to be sharpened often, being that I use it every day. but for the price, who cares? today they were on sale for 69¢ again so I got two more!
