Sunscreen -Banana Boat - Ultra Sunblock SPF 30 Continuous Clear Spray
eternalstarangel 6/9/2008 5:08:00 AM
I got this in SPF 50, and I used this yesterday when I went to the beach...on my face ONLY, which I realize now, was the biggest mistake I've made in a long time. This product contains alcohol, which STINGS like crazy, when you attempt to open your eyes, will get into your hair while you do so, as it IS an aerosol spray, making you look like you haven't showered in a few days. In addition to that, I rarely ever break out, and as of late, I would only get the occasional pimple, which would last a day. However, after using this product yesterday, I woke up to find that I had broken out really badly, with small pimples sprouting out all over my T-zone, with one or two more over my cheeks. (I had 12 total) I haven't used an actual sunblock in years as I don't go out much, and I do remember getting pimples after using sunblock when I was younger, but that was over the course of several days, and was usually limited to just a few. However, this was bad on a completely new scale, as I had taken a shower directly after the beach, and probably only had the stuff on for a total of 2 hours or so. Needless to say, I WILL NOT be repurchasing this.

Mascara -Christian Dior - DiorShow Mascara Waterproof
eternalstarangel 6/1/2008 7:42:00 PM
Pros: -the tube is pretty -it thickens and lengthens beautifully. -holds a curl -doesn't flake or feel crunchy on lashes Cons: -EXPENSIVE -can leave black smudgies under my eyes, especially after a nap...always remove this stuff before going to the gym. -gives major raccoon eyes in summer time -can't touch up the curl after using it...it sticks to my eyelash curler -difficult to remove properly, despite not being fully waterproof. -causes some clumping, even though i wipe off excess mascara from brush before applying...fixed with lash brush, but troublesome Overall: Decent mascara, but not worth the time and price. Will I repurchase? At this time, I' have to say no.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Emmanuelle
eternalstarangel 5/31/2008 9:10:00 PM
I started to want this shadow after spending a couple hours with my old roomie hunting for the best red shadow we could find. This was it. My friend chose not to buy any of the shadows we looked at, but my interest in this one was severely piqued, despite the fact that I almost never wear bright eye colors. (I don't think I leave the house when I do...they look really strange on me since i'm pretty light) I finally snagged this shadow off of ebay about a month later and am really glad I did, as I found this to be a wearable color, despite its intensity. This shadow is a beautiful red coral that when layered on more intensely is not very pink at all, but comes very close to a deep red (which is impossible to find in a shadow since it seems that an actual red eyeshadow doesn't exist due to eye sensitivities) with every bit of the quality and blendability of all my other NARS shadows. When used with a lighter hand, it is more of an intense red-pink color, making it fairly versatile, though I don't like to wear it as a pink. I definitely reccommend this shadow to anyone who is looking for a good red, and for people to who think this color is unwearable to give this a try. It will exceed your expectations and make an excellent addition to your collection. (for further reference...I am a NW20 for MAC, and wear fairly light/light for BE)

Foundations -Philosophy - the supernatural airbrush canvas
eternalstarangel 5/30/2008 8:37:00 PM
I got this foundation in one of the newer shades, Porcelain, which matches my skin perfectly. I had previously used BE foundation in fairly light or Light, and had found fairly light to be just a tiny bit too light on me, and light to be far too yellow to be of any real use to me. Porcelain gives me the right color without all the disgusting yellow undertones. This foundation gives light-medium coverage (leaning more on the light side) and is great for those who just want to even out their skin tone. Coverage is also adjustable by how much you shake the container and whatnot, and I'm sure if you hated the sponge applicator you could just open the thing and dip a brush in. I am probably one of the few people who actually like the sponge on top of this thing, as it makes application fast, easy, and doesn't have the annoying spills that using BE did. It also doesn't clog my pores or irritate my skin, so that's nice. I did take off a lippie for the fact that the sponge seems hard to remove, clean, and replace, but overall, I'm pretty happy with the fact that they sell replacement sponges...it definitely makes things more sanitary.

Concealers -MAC - Select Moisturecover
eternalstarangel 5/30/2008 8:13:00 PM
When I went in to buy this, the SA gave me a weird look, commented that I didn't need this, then applied it for me. (My dark circles don't really get too heavy, but a concealer is always nice to have) I just started using this product, after feeling slightly fed up with trying to use benefit's bo-ing, which just seemed too dry for me. It covers small blemishes and lighter dark circles decently, comes in a convenient tube, and only requires a small dot per eye. It's also rather inexpensive, which is another plus. The cons to this, however, is that it requires a powder to set it or it will crease. As of now, I feel ok about the product, but only time will tell whether or not i actually repurchase this later. edit:knocked off another lippie b/c it gave me a couple pimples...

Eye Shadow -NARS - Ashes to Ashes
eternalstarangel 5/30/2008 7:14:00 PM
I purchased this shadow a few days ago at Sephora, and was lucky to snag the last one they had in stock. This shadow is a light, neutral gorgeously colored purplish brown with slight shimmer. It is a nice neutral color that is quite versatile and can be paired with many things. I like to use it lightly in my crease when I pair it with the Paris duo, for a nice, low-key neutral look, or as a lid color when paired with other colors. The quality of the shadow, much like the other NARS shadows I own is wonderfully smooth and blends really well. As far as lasting power goes, I can't really comment, as I never wear shadows without UDPP anymore. I would definitely recommend this shadow to others, especially to those with light skin, as this color gently enhances eyes without ever looking over the top.

Toners -Clinique - Clarifying Lotion #2
eternalstarangel 5/29/2008 7:53:00 AM
After trying the 3-step system and hating it...I decided to try just the second and 3rd step of the system (I'm not one for bar soap to begin with anyways) and I absolutely love using this product. After washing my face, I use this on a cotton ball while my face is still damp (as suggested by the SA), then pat my skin dry with a towel and moisturize. This product is seriously amazing...my pores are smaller after using this, and it pulls out any makeup that may be left after I wash my face. It also preps your skin for moisturizer, so your skin soaks up the moisturizer much faster. I literally only need a couple drops of lotion to achieve a well moisturized face, and it soaks in in seconds... it also helps my makeup go on much smoother, even without a primer, and helps avoid any ashiness that may result from using a powder foundation. I don't even really get the annoying occasional pimple anymore from staying up at all hours of the night...though i do have some dark circles...haha

Blush -Smashbox - Tokidoki Skin Tint - Bella
eternalstarangel 5/29/2008 7:42:00 AM
Out of all of the tokidoki items...I feel that this one has the prettiest packaging...which makes me desperately want to keep this...However, this item seems to be the rare product that absolutely does not agree with my skin. Within minutes I can feel slight discomfort, and after a few more I get a couple of little bumps (when tested on inside of arm)...apparently there's something in this product that my skin is sensitive to. On my face, it merely itched...though i wonder if it's because I had on some lotion and primer under this that I didn't really get bumps...(I got a couple...which pretty much dissappeared after a day) It still got a 2 however, because the color of the product is beautiful and it isn't too hard to apply. I can't really comment on it's staying power...as I had to remove this due to irritation. Guess some things just aren't for everybody.

Makeup Brushes -Ecotools - Bamboo Foundation Brush
eternalstarangel 5/28/2008 11:01:00 PM
I bought this one after getting a 5 piece set and loving it...but i feel that it isn't quite good enough for a foundation brush. I prefer my foundation brushes to be stiffer for more control. It DOES however, make a perfect cream blush brush, so I gave it a 4 anyways...

Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Penny Lane
eternalstarangel 5/27/2008 9:46:00 PM
This blush is absolutely gorgeous on my pale asian complexion (for reference, I wear BE fairly light/light, Philosophy's supernatural foundation in porcelain, ~NW20). It looks completely natural and is perfect for day wear. The color in the pan is a beautiful peachy pink, and is sheer and buildable on the cheeks without ever really looking harsh and unnatural. My first NARS blush and probably not my last, provided that I can find another shade that matches me. This blush does not give a real flush when I apply it...it merely gives a healthy glow. It looks great on bare cheeks or over my mineral powder foundation. Edit: For excellent application of this product, and for those who dislike the idea of using your fingers...try using an ecotools foundation brush....the brush is just large enough that it works pretty well on the cheeks.

Lips -MAC - Strobeblossom TLC
eternalstarangel 5/27/2008 8:15:00 PM
I bought this because when I swatched it on my hand in the store it looked beautiful. However, instead of moisturizing my lips, it dries them, and the smell and taste of this product are disgusting (smells and tastes like really old lipstick...feels like it too) I'm returning this to the store when I get the chance.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Magnetic Fields Eye Shadow from Neo Sci-Fi Collection
eternalstarangel 5/26/2008 8:47:00 PM
I ran out to get this today, and I'm really glad I did. This shade is a beautiful grayish shimmery chocolate brown, which makes an amazing neutral. It's kind of a shimmery version of NARS's Bali eyeshadow, which is great for summer, as it gives just the right amount of shimmer. The only thing that I don't like about this is the packaging, and really just because if you look at the hinges of the little case, you'll find that there are gaps there. The bright orange color is a bit much, but it doesn't bother me too much since the eyeshadow inside is so pretty. I'm thinking of getting a backup for this for when I run out. edit:i bought a backup today :]

Eye Shadow -MAC - Femme-Fi from Neo Sci-Fi Collection
eternalstarangel 5/26/2008 8:41:00 PM
i bought this since the previous 4 users gave it such smashing reviews, but am simply confused as to whether I'm simply ok with this color or want to return it. I don't feel like there's anything too special with this color, as it seems to be a muted gold on me. I don't really like using this as a wash, but I do admit that this makes a decent highlighter.

Eye Shadow -NARS - Edie

I love this eyeshadow. Even though there is nothing too special about this shadow, it makes an absolutely wonderful base shade, and has just the slightest hint of shimmer. The shadow blends amazingly well, and combined with bali, these two shadows make up my standard low maintenance look these days. would definitely buy this shadow again
