Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Naked Palette
anastacy 5/16/2011 11:37:00 PM
I heard all the hype around this and didn't give in because there's a lot of hype around a lot of new UD products. I saw it online and didn't think it was special until I read the reviews of people of darker skin tone. I looked and pondered for quite sometime. The first time I tried to order was through Beauty.com where I had a discount of $5. I cancelled my order and then re-orderd some hours later but it was too late. I had a discount of $7.36 plus free shipping and it was available again some months later. No hesitation this time around. Now on to the good stuff... I gave in to this because of Toasted, Sidecar, Sin and Hustle. I felt I had to own them. I already owned Half Baked and Smog but more of them can't hurt. I was skeptical of Naked and Virgin because of my caramel skin tone. Let me say this, I am infactuated with all the shades in the palette. THEY ARE ALL FUNCTIONAL! People talk about the fallout from Sidecar especially, don't care. Its love <3. Virgin combined with Naked makes an excellent higlight for me. Its not too light or dark. It just enhances the browbone perfectly. Naked is also an exceptional blending out color for smokey looks. And Buck, well is the quintesential crease color. Smog or Twice Baked were always the "go to" deeper brown shades, but this palette offers much more like Darkhorse, Hustle and Buck. I love palettes that are neutral with pops of color. I was really unsure of this palette becuase I love UD teals and purples especially when included in their palettes. But I had to be real with myself and admit that I do not do pop of color looks often as I do neutral looks. I bought UD BOS III because of the colors and I barely reach for it. This palette is "Makeup for Dummies." If you are learning or new to makeup, this palette is great because it highly unlikely for soemone to make a mess of their look. Its really fools proof. I must say I expected more from the brush. The part where the bristles joined the handle was able to turn all the way around initially. I was expecting the brush to be heavier and the bristles to be more dense. It looks more like a concealer brush to me but I guess that design is necessary for shadows that are softer and have more fallout. But it does not matter much because I'm not a huge fan of the glide on pencils anyway so I'l still take that brush. Also the e/s pans are not all "leveled" to the palette evenly. Some appear to be higher than others. This palette is not cheap to it was a tad disappointing. Overall, I love it much more than I anticipated. I love all the UD palettes that I own but this one blows me out of the water. I want to give this 50 lippies instead.

Palettes -Stila - Trendsetting In Tokyo Palette
anastacy 4/23/2011 4:47:00 PM
I sort of liked the 1st 2 travel palettes especially "Pretty in Paris." I have palettes 1-4 and 2 is the best becaue the e/s and the Covertable Cheek Colour (CCC) are usable. This Tokoyo one, wow where do I start. The only thing good in this palette is the CCC, thats it. The e/s are really cheap and powdery. That blue is disgusting. It looks nice online and in the package but when you swatch it or try to apply it the colour is like blue chalk. The black is the same. I absolutely do not use them. And I dont care for the rest of colours. If your'e not into cream blushes then dont get this.

Palettes -Pop Beauty - Pretty Puzzle - Smoked Out Silver
anastacy 4/23/2011 4:28:00 PM
I bought this late last year from Beauty.com and it was my first purchase from Pop Beauty. I have to agree with the previous review, the palette is much smaller than I anticipated. The palette is what it claims to be, a smokey array of colours. I like the selection of metallics because dark matte shades tend to get more muddy than smokey at times and the varoius finishes sort of prevent that. There are nice pop of colours and some of the colours, I must say are interesting in that, they are not like anything I have in my collection currently. My argument is not based on the colour selection but the size of the 12 pans. They are miniscule. There is a mate nude shade to be used for highlighting the brow bone and my brush overlaps in the other pans. Then the quality of the shadow is my next issue. They are a bit powdery and messy for my taste. The pigmentation is great but the staying power is not so good. I paid $10 USD for this, so its not expensive. If you want to try Pop Beauty I'll say give this palette a try, just to check it out and see if its up to your standards without breaking the bank. I dont regret it but I will not repurchase. I could have saved my money to purchase a better quality palette.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Extra Amps Dazzleglass
anastacy 3/8/2011 11:17:00 PM
This is a blingdicious lip gloss. The sparkles in this gloss is irridescent and appear to have a crushed crystal look. Most glitter glosses seem to have a 1 dimensional quality to them. Dazzle glasses really make other sparkly lip gosses look cheap and tacky. Dont be fooled by the color. This bright fuschia/magenta color is really sheer. Its great for all skin tones and work over any lipstick colour. The gloss is sort of thick and sticky. Its consistency is similar to the Stila Lip Glazes but the Stila ones have way more staying power. That's kind of disappointing as Mac dazzleglasses are really expensive and the Stila ones are often sold in value sets. But overall this a really good gloss if you want that bedazzled lip look. The closest drugstore alternative is the Milani glosses but the MAC dazzle glass holds the crown for bling.

Lip Gloss -Revlon - Super Lustrous - Pink Afterglow 020
anastacy 3/8/2011 11:02:00 PM
This is a really good lip gloss. This is a coral pink lip gloss with sparkles. The color is not too opaque or sheer making it wearable for all skin tones. The sparkle is not too loud or overbearing. It does not make the gloss gritty at all. The stay power could have been better and the glitter makes this gloss seem a little drying after a period of time. Its a great deal for the price though.

Lip Gloss -NYX - Lipgloss with Mega Shine in Frosted Beige
anastacy 3/8/2011 10:48:00 PM
I am pleasantly suprised with this lip gloss. I bought this on sale a while ago and didnt use it until recently. I was apprehensive because the color seemed to pale for my skin tone in the tube. But I sucked it up and used it over a nude lipstick and it worked. The flavor seemed like some baked treat like a cupcake or something. Its way better than the taste of those nasty round lip glosses, yuck. I then wore it alone and it worked too. Its not too sheer or opaque, just enough that the color comes through. The consistency is nice and not too slick. Its not too frosty and you cant feel the glitter on your lips. But I prefer really sticky glosses like the stila glazes. I prefer those consistencies because they take quite some time to wear off so your glosses do not finish as fast. But this gloss does not fade super fast either. This is a really nice beige gloss that is flattering on most skin tones.

Palettes -Too Faced - Glamour to Go - Fairy Edition
anastacy 3/8/2011 1:25:00 PM
I really like this palette. Its compact and neat. It has almost everything you need to create an everyday look. It took this to school everyday while I was doing a temp job. I got up early and did not have time to do my makeup on mornings so I used to take this and one of my Stila travel palettes. The matte colors are not chalky, the brown is phenomenal. The shimmery taupe colour is beautiful and does not have the fall out like UD MCRA. The blue shade is nice but the staying power leaves more to be desired. The blush is very nice but I'm not a fan of the gloss or the bonzer. That bronzer is too light for it to be used as such on my skin, so it works as a highlighter. The gloss is kinda goopy and not as pigmented. Its kind of the generic lipglosses you'd expect to get in a palette. But I do enjoy the shadows and the blush. Its still a nice purchase.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Syrup
anastacy 3/8/2011 1:14:00 PM
I love this lipstick! Its more than what I expected. I went to the MAC counter looking for an everyday wearable pinky mauvy toned color that was buildable. This is exactly that. Its more purpley than expected but its very subtle. Its creamy and glossy (MAC Lustre) and not drying at all. You dont need a lip liner or a gloss. Its a really a low maintanace lip look. You put it on straight from the tube and you're good to go. It got 4 lippies insted of 5 because I think the staying power is not as great as expected. Given the price the staying power should be better. But overall its a really great lipstick and I have no regrets.

Blush -MAC - Matte Blush - Desert Rose
anastacy 3/8/2011 12:26:00 PM
This is such a beautiful blush. Its a mauvy, pink / rosy nude color. It gives the most natural flush of color on my skin tone. Its is very buildable and nice for everday. Its gives a very natural and healthy glow to my skin. A lot of powder blushes give that powdery/chalky finish to the skin and I think that this i not the case with this even though it is matte. A must have if you're olive to dark tone.

Eyeliner -MAC - Fluidline Eye-Liner Gel in Blacktrack
anastacy 3/8/2011 12:18:00 PM
This product is deserving of all the hype and accolade it has received. Seriously, you have to own this to know how great a product it is and to know what you're missing. It is truely an excellent liner. I recently got this for the first time and I knew there was not going back. Most liquid and pencil liners you have to practice and get used to the individual product to do a good winged liner. That is the case for me anyways. Any newbie can create a winged liner with this off the bat. Its so fool's proof and easy. Its super black so you do not have to keep retouching lines and do not smear. Any when I say do not, believe me, it does not budge till your ready to take it off. And you have so much control with the thickness of your liner with the use of an angled brush. Mine is new so I cant talk about issues such drying out. But what I do know is that it is an execellent investment despite the price tag.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Metallic Duo - Gunmetal #306
anastacy 2/17/2011 1:08:00 AM
Really nice colour combo. The texture is a dream to work with, very pigmented and the colour is more sheeny and metallic more than say glittery. They're great together or apart. I would have liked the lighter shade to have a more yellow or golden tone to it but its still great. A must have in the L'Oreal HIP Duo line.

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Bright Duo - Brazen #118
anastacy 2/17/2011 1:02:00 AM
The quality of the matte e/s in this duo is better than other matte e/s in this line. Work well together and very pigmented. The pink is deeper and not so clownish and the brown is nice too. Its not as hard to work with. I used the brown on my lid and the pink in the crease and it was beautiful. Nice job L'Oreal!

Eye Shadow -L'Oreal - HiP Bright Duo - Flamboyant #538
anastacy 2/17/2011 12:54:00 AM
Why do so many drugstore brands fail at making good quality matte shadows? The Purple in this duo = Fail. Its chalky with little to no colour payoff. The gold is pretty but too yellow and kind of loud for my taste. It is very silky and pigmented though. Not the best duo this line has to offer. I'd say pass on this one.

The colours remind me of UD BOD III Bordello and Rockstar. Very pigmented and work so beautiful together. L'oreal stepped up their game with these HIP duos.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Perversion Matte
anastacy 2/17/2011 12:39:00 AM
This is one of the few rare matte e/s form UD. Its a welcomed change. I see alot of pple saying its the BLACKEST e/s they own and its darker than MAC's carbon and NYX black. I dont own MAC carbon so I cant say, but its not blacker than NYX Black. This is not what I expected. Its nice but kind of streaky in my book. Its not like OMG its a must have. I prefer NYX to be honest but its a good black e/s notheless, just not exceptional.
