Mascara -Bobbi Brown - Everything Mascara
TwoBostons 5/6/2009 11:52:00 PM
I got this in the GWP size from my oh-so-wonderful S.A. at Nordstrom. It has good color--actually black, not ashy looking, and did a decent job of both lengthening and thickening. Mind you, this is not going to give you a diorshow look, but really is a good mascara for a professional look. It is liquid enough to not clump, and gave nice separation and definition to my lashes. The drawback for this mascara for me--and it kills me, because I love all things Bobbi Brown--is the transfer factor. It didn't smudge along either upper or lower eyelids and DID stay put all day, but my upper lashes are fairly long and point downward. As in straight downward on the outer eyelid. Eyelash curlers can do only so much for me. So later in the day (about 5-6 hours in), the mascara on my upper eyelashes transferred to my undereye area, kind of in a vertical line. Where the mascara touched my undereye concealer it pretty much got dissolved by my concealer. I did NOT have this problem when I wore this mascara without concealer, so I will definitely use it up on low/no makeup days. Will not, unfortunately, repurchase.

Mascara -Too Faced - Lash Injection
TwoBostons 5/6/2009 2:01:00 AM
Ghastly, absolutely ghastly. With the possible exception of Great Lash, the worst mascara I've ever used. I got this in a deluxe sample size and grabbed it for my on-the-go mascara application on my way to work (not driving). It smells like lychee gone bad--I don't recall ever noticing a scent in a mascara. The brush looks promising--huge and fluffy, but that didn't help. The formula was dry, cakey, and I had to literally go over my lashes five times to get a TINT of color on SOME of my lashes. So as not to sound overwhelmingly negative, this mascara did not smear...because there was virtually no mascara on my lashes!!! (so much for trying to add some balance :) ) Why do I have to give it one lippie? Can't I give it a zero, please?!

Lotions/ Creams -Unlisted Brand - Schweppes on10-Pink Grapefruit Body Lotion
TwoBostons 5/3/2009 11:56:00 PM
This lotion has a definite grapefruit scent that is a bit too sweet. The smell is okay (since I pretty much love all things grapefruit), the problem is with the lotion itself. I got this in a 1.89oz size, which in a regular lotion would be enough for a couple of weeks of nightly leg use. I used this up in two, count 'em, TWO days. This lotion has no moisturizing ability whatsoever. I applied it and immediately had to reapply. The second day I used it I realized what I needed to do--apply it three separate times!! After the third application, my legs were kinda slightly moisturized. For 15 minutes. I will not repurchase this product, and will not purchase any other products from this brand.

Eyeliner -Urban Decay - 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencil in Stash
TwoBostons 5/3/2009 11:44:00 PM
Great creamy eyeliner that lasts all day. Nice olive-y green/gold with a hint of brown that looks great on hazel eyes. The sparkle is there, but not so over the top I can't wear it to my very conservative workplace. Does a good job of 'popping' out the green in your eyes. Definitely repurchase!

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Eye shadow in Taupe
TwoBostons 5/3/2009 2:16:00 AM
I agree with the other reviewers on the color of this shadow. It is a matte medium brown, not too dark, and perfect for those days at work when you don't want to fuss over your eye makeup (heresy, I know!) but still look polished. Blends well, and the color remains true on me throughout the day. No problems with creasing, and I do not wear a primer! A simple, basic shadow that does it's job and doesn't demand attention. I don't mean it to sound dull, but some days you just need a workhorse--this is it.

Lip Gloss -Bobbi Brown - Shimmer Lip Gloss - Spun Gold
TwoBostons 5/3/2009 1:55:00 AM
Like the last reviewer, I absolutely love this lip gloss. It is a beautiful shade of shimmery brownish gold. There is not a scent/taste to this gloss, and it lasts literally for hours, even when I'm drinking coffee. It is not sticky. I use it solo with a liner or to tone down a brighter shade of lipstick. I like the brush, although I understand it is an issue for many users. The brush applicator is fairly stiff, so application can be precise, and the brush allows a cleaner application over a lipstick than a doe foot applicator would.

Lipstick -Clinique - Different Lipstick - Rose Taffy
TwoBostons 5/3/2009 1:45:00 AM
Such a pretty color, rose with a little browned coral thrown in. Lasts well, moisturizing, and has a sheen to it without being glittery/having too many sparkles. I can apply this in the morning and it is still in place at noon. Colorwise it's a teeny bit bright for me (I'm pretty much the nude/dark queen), so I add a little brownish gloss on top.

Treatments -Dr. Denese - Advanced Firming Facial Pads
TwoBostons 5/2/2009 2:31:00 AM
I've been using these pads for about a year. They have a good effect on my overall skin appearance, and have kept my skin in good shape between microderm appointments. Skin clarity is improved, as is the appearance of my pores. The pads also get any residual makeup off your skin, which can be a bonus if I'm having an 'I don't want to spend a bunch of time on my face' kind of night. There is a little tackiness to the skin after use, so I don't use them during the day. The pads are quite saturated with product, so I actually cut them in half so they last longer. I will occasionally have a little bit of stinging on my face after application, but not very often. I have repurchased these several times and will continue to do so. Even in the large 100ct jar the pads do not dry out, which is a plus.

Tinted Moisturizer -Smashbox - Sheer Focus Tinted Moisturizer SPF 15
TwoBostons 5/2/2009 1:30:00 AM
I tried this in Luminous, and the color, or lack thereof, was fine for my light skin. It gives a surprisingly decent amount of coverage. I have some redness on one cheek and around nose and did not need additional concealer. I used a translucent setting powder on top. This product basically blurred my pores (nose/cheeks) to the point they almost weren't visible. I have normal skin, but can get a shiny nose, and did not need to re-powder during the day (mind you, it isn't summer yet!). The lotion felt a little heavy on, but did not look heavy at all. I would purchase again in a heartbeat except...it made me break out. I can't use most primers, either, so it's probably the same thing. So disappointed I can't use this! If you can tolerate primers, I highly recommend this product.

Lotions/ Creams -Bath and Body Works - true blue spa shea it isn't so foot cream
TwoBostons 5/2/2009 1:14:00 AM
I just finished a tube of this foot cream, and it has taken me two years. This is a very heavy-duty foot cream, and I found I needed to wear it with socks because it does not absorb quickly at all. If, however, your feet are extremely rough/dry, this is a great foot cream. I think only night use is practical, because of the thickness of the cream, and you certainly would not be able to wear it during the day without thick socks. It smells faintly minty, which is not a bad smell, but I find I do not like the smell on my hands so have to wash them after applying. It works quite well to soften feet. I will repurchase again at some point, but I've been using the same tube for 2 years and am just a little burnt out on it. (BTW--lasts a looooong time!)

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - Almond - AMANDE Concentre De Lait Milk Concentrate Body Cream - Almond Line
TwoBostons 5/2/2009 12:45:00 AM
I got a sample of this product, and liked it a lot. It is not as heavy as the L'occitane shea butter body lotion and absorbs more quickly. The scent is fairly light and would not compete with perfume for daytime use. I used it at night (legs, feet, & arms) and was not dried out in the morning. Firming? I doubt it, but it does moisturize nicely. I may pick this up in a full size if I can find it at a decent price, i.e. Costco.

Pressed Powders -Amazing Cosmetics - Powderset
TwoBostons 4/29/2009 10:16:00 PM
This is a setting powder that comes in a compact. There is no puff included, so you need something to apply--I use a brush. It is translucent and very finely milled powder that sets foundation beautifully and does not settle into fine lines. I carry this in my purse and use it to powder my nose mid-day. After that, I'm good till I get home. I have gone through this product much more quickly than with a traditional powder compact. I think this is because I use it regularly with a brush, not with a cosmetic puff that gets icky after a few uses (then I usually stop using and forget to replace the puff!). While the surface area of pressed powders typically gunks up on the top layer due to exposure to your face oil, this one has not and has remained as easy to use as the day I bought it. It has been a while, but I recall it was about $16 at Ulta. I will definitely purchase this again. Contains .32oz/9g of product Ingredients: Talc, Zinc Stearate, Methylparaben, Imidazolidinyl, Propylparaben. Made in USA *No Animal Testing*

Eye Shadow -Bobbi Brown - Ash Long-Wear Cream
TwoBostons 4/29/2009 10:04:00 PM
This is a great basic color for a work-type shadow. While it is described as a medium brown and looks dark on the BB website, it is not. The color is a greyed taupe-y shade and is not dark at all. Normally I cannot wear grey toned shadows, but I can wear this one. What this color does for me is cover the slightly reddish splotchiness I have on my eyelids as well as a couple of freckles I have there. Has the same lasting power as her other long wear cream shadows I have tried. Can be applied with either brush or finger. Another BB winner!

Lotions/ Creams -Bliss Labs - Blood Orange + White Pepper Body Butter
TwoBostons 4/29/2009 12:24:00 AM
I got this as a sample, as many other reviewers did. Texture is nice and thick like a butter typically is, but not so thick that it didn't absorb reasonable quickly. It took quite a bit of product, so I think a tube would be used up soon. Now for the scent... This butter smells like oranges and there is a slight hint of white pepper that tempers some of the orange-y sweetness. That being said, this product made me smell like I had dumped a glass of orange juice on myself at the breakfast table (I have done this in the past, so I speak from experience!). It smells absolutely wonderful, but I don't want to go through the day smelling like OJ. The scent does linger, and may clash with perfumes. I think this product would be absolutely wonderful for a young girl, say up to about age 16, but doesn't work for my 41 year-old self.

Lipstick -Bobbi Brown - Creamy Lip Color - Pink Buff
TwoBostons 4/28/2009 11:07:00 PM
This is a pinky/brown lipstick with decent staying power. Does not dry out my lips, and works well under gloss. I did not have the gloss 'drag' problem the other reviewers had, although it may be because my gloss has a brush instead of a doe foot applicator. I can't do pink lipstick, whether it's pale/bright/dark, and this is as close to a pink-toned shade as I can go. This matches the natural color of my lips. It's hard to find a nude color that actually matches, so this ended up being cheaper than trying a bunch of drugstore lipsticks. I've done that too many times to count!
