Blush -NARS - Cream Blush in Turkish Red [DISCONTINUED]
Snackmeister 5/23/2006 12:56:00 PM
For months, I looked without success for a true red blush. Everything I tried turned out to be pink or berry when applied. Finally, I lucked into this stuff. I'm pale, so I use just the tiniest dab and blend like crazy, but the effect is just what I was looking for. It's more expensive than most of my other makeup, but I'm so glad I bought it. Me: LLL, brown/greenish gray.

Blush -Wet 'n' Wild - Twist-Up Blush Stick in Coy - 722 [DISCONTINUED]
Snackmeister 4/21/2006 12:26:00 PM
I like this a lot and use it at least once a week. It's a jewel-like pink-rose that is quite vibrant on my PPP skin. The color itself is just gorgeous. I got a drier stick, though (apparently the quality of these is a bit uneven) so I have to work with it quite a bit to blend, especially the edges. A pat-on of translucent powder helps. Staying power is not too bad. I'd buy it for three times the price, though. Nice product.

Lipstick -Lancome - Le Rouge Absolu - Rose Crystal
Snackmeister 4/21/2006 12:21:00 PM
This is a mauvey rose with a cool crystal sheen--not glittery or glimmery, but almost foil-like. It has the typical Lancome l/s formula: creamy, heavy, and heavily fragranced. It's a tad bit drying. I happen to love Lancome l/s for their dimensionality and staying power, but you can definitely feel (and smell!) the lipstick on. This is pretty, though--another Lancome color that I've never found the likes of anywhere else. A very "grown-up" lipstick.

Lip Gloss -Chanel - Spark Glossimer
Snackmeister 3/28/2006 12:56:00 PM
In the tube, this is the most beautiful gloss I've ever seen. On my lips, it's not quite all that. I like the formula and the feel of it--slick, gel-like, slightly thick. I like that it's unscented. But the color is a disappointing berry, not the gold-sparked red that's in the tube, which one would think would translate to coral or, uh, a gold-sparked red. Layering intensifies the color a bit, but then I have to work with it to get the color to be even. Not my favorite gloss by a long shot, and definitely not worth the price to me.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Movie-Time Mauve
Snackmeister 3/17/2006 12:43:00 PM
I generally stay away from L'Oreal lipsticks because of their fragrance and dryness, but I couldn't resist two of the shades from this LE collection (Golden Moment Pink and Movie-Time Mauve). Both are gorgeous and, despite their drawbacks, get five lippies from me. This shade is a cool, tender pink with a decided nude-pink sheen that's almost a pearl effect. It's almost a MLBB on me, but the sheeny finish is something special. Note that I have to apply three coats to get the nicest effect, but that's ok. It does last a very long time on the lips, slightly drying though.

Lipstick -L'Oreal - Colour Riche in Golden Moment Pink
Snackmeister 3/16/2006 7:34:00 PM
This lipstick was part of the Limited Edition collection that also featured the popular Front Page Peach Blush. This is an absolutely beautiful lipstick that gets top ratings from me for the color alone. I've never seen anything like it. It's a clear, bright watermelon pink that has so much golden sheen in it that the effect on the lips is almost coral. It's beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. Even though it has that cloying L'Oreal lipstick scent, and even though it's a tad bit drying and drags a bit on the lips when you apply it--it's so beautiful that I don't care. Score!

Eye Shadow -Milani - Icy plum
Snackmeister 3/16/2006 6:55:00 PM
I love this. It's extremely flattering on me (PPP/LLL, warm undertones, brown, gray-green). It's a sheeny grayed lavender-plum, more plum than taupe, but same idea. It's just the right intensity for me to use as a lid and a crease color; with many shadows I have to be very careful that they don't look too dark, and with others I have to layer the product, but this is just right. Very pretty. Lasts all day over a base, no creasing. Two thumbs up and five lippies!

Blush -Clinique - Blushing Blush Powder Blush - Smoldering Plum
Snackmeister 3/16/2006 6:39:00 PM
I am a slightly warm borderline PPP/LLL and this is lovely on me. Very pigmented, lasts all day long without touch-ups. I have Iced Lotus as well and it is similarly nice in quality but not quite as flattering as this. Very nice product. Well done, Clinique!

Blush -Milani - Double Impact - Coffee & Cream
Snackmeister 3/14/2006 9:37:00 PM
This, like most Milani blushes, is packed full of pigment and is very silky/easy to blend. I've no problems with the quality of this product. However, I was a bit disappointed in it. I was looking for more of a brownish shade from the darker side, and it definitely shows up on me (borderline PPP/LLL, warm skin) as a dark terracotta with orange undertones. BUT--like many others, I think it's amazingly versatile and both shades are beautiful on the eyes. I would rebuy because of its quality and versatility alone.

Loose Powders -New York Color - loose translucent powder
Snackmeister 3/3/2006 4:24:00 PM
I bought this because of its purported oil-absorbing qualities. I've been a devoted user of Coty Airspun loose powder fragrance free version, and that power has always given my face a silky, even quality, but it's not the best for keeping the greasies at bay. Well, this product is very good for the price, I'll say. The good points: it's definitely better at absorbing oil than the Coty Airspun; it gets me a good one or two hours more wear before I have to bring out the C&C blotting sheets. The bad points: Upon application, it doesn't look quite as smooth as does the Airspun. In particular, doesn't conceal the huge pores on my nose quite as well when I look up close in the mirror, but I doubt the difference is noticeable to anyone else. I like this fine and I will use it up and perhaps buy more. For $1.99, it's a steal. P.S. I think the packaging, though flimsy, is cheerful and cute.

Bronzers -Wet 'n' Wild - Acapulco Glow
Snackmeister 3/3/2006 4:05:00 PM
I'd never really gotten the appeal of bronzers or highlighters but this product made me change my mind. I'm a borderline PPP/FFF and so this product serves as both a bronzer and a highlighter on my warmish pale skin. The base color is a very pale true peach, and the shimmers are so subtle that they impart only a "glow," not a true shimmer. So, as others have said, you can build and build this stuff on your face and the shimmers do not overwhelm. I often use one swipe of it as a traditional bronzer (forehead, temples, cheekbones, and along jawline) and then layer more on the cheeks as a very subtle blush. It's like waving a magic wand of health over your face. It's made a believer out of me! The product itself is soft and silky but not greasy, and it doesn't cake. It seems to be nicely long-lasting. If it were packaged in a luxe container, I'd peg it as a very high-end brand for sure. Great product.

Treatments -Neutrogena - Advanced Solutions Facial Peel [DISCONTINUED]
Snackmeister 2/12/2006 11:33:00 PM
I have combination skin with large, clogged pores and the beginnings of fine lines and brown hyperpigmentation spots. I alternate using 12% glycolic and 2% BHA at night night for my pores and because my skin is very prone to dulling buildup. So, because of these great products, my skin is fairly soft and smooth already, but this mask (I use it 1x/week) does make a positive difference in my routine. My skin definitely feels softer and smoother after using it, and I think it's not because of the physical exfoliants in this mask alone. It also leaves my face very clean, neither tight nor moisturized, just perfectly clean and smooth, if this makes sense. It doesn't irritate my skin in the least. It does have a heavy fragrance, but I don't mind it. I will probably buy this again.

Lipstick -Chantecaille - Lipsheer in Saturn
Snackmeister 1/20/2006 3:15:00 PM
I received a partially used tube in a swap and I'm hooked. It's everything I wanted Clinique's Black Lily to be. This product applies smoothly, colors lips like a cream, and feels like you have almost nothing on. It's a plum-wine color with good pigmentation (no shimmer) and can be layered for very rich color--but it still feels weightless with three layers on! The finish of the product is more satin than matte and there are no shimmers. It lasts and lasts and wears off to a nice even stain. You can apply gloss over it and it doesn't slide around. The silver packaging is sleek with a substantial feel.

Treatments (Eye) -RoC - Retin-Ox CORREXION Intensive Eye Care
Snackmeister 1/19/2006 6:55:00 PM
After two months of use, I'm not seeing any results with this--good or bad. One area of hyperpigmentation under my eye MIGHT have faded a bit; it's hard to tell. No change in my fine lines. It doesn't irritate my skin and it does moisturize, but that's all I can say about it. Will not repurchase.

Lipstick -Maybelline - Moisture Extreme
Snackmeister 1/18/2006 9:21:00 PM
I received a tube of Mocha Ice free in the mail after having signed up for a promotion through Lucky Magazine. So I was happy to give this product a try. My color (which hasn't yet been reviewed) is a medium cool-toned brown with pretty silver shimmer. It's a beautiful color and quite flattering when I wear earth tones. This product does feel nice and light going on, but the trade-off, as others have mentioned, is that it wears off after 2 1/2 hours, max. I also have noticed that it seems to dry out my lips or,at least, it offers little protection from the elements. The one thing that tipped a 4 rating down to a 3 is the cucumber scent. I don't smell melon in there at all, and cucumbers are not my favorite thing to smell in a lip product.
