Cleansers -Neutrogena - Make-up Remover Cleansing Towelettes
JudgeJudy41 8/9/2008 11:47:00 AM
I have the most sensitive, misbehaved skin on the planet, and didn't find these irritating in the least. I bought these for our camping trip 3 weeks ago. I love how handy ( no need for water ) and moisturizing these towelettes felt on my skin. Also, my face looked clean with no burning, breakouts or irritation when using. These worked wonders for removing my layers of sunscreen at the end of the day! I'll certainly pack these along on future trips. A+++!

Conditioner -Nexxus - Humectress Luxe Ultimate Moisturizing Leave-In Spray
JudgeJudy41 8/9/2008 11:26:00 AM
Love it!! Makes my hair shiny, manageable and silky feeling! May be a little pricey @ over $9.00 ( Infusium 23 is a better buy ), but will use this along, not with the Infusium 23. This has such a nice coconut smell ( one of the listed ingredients ) and one that my Significant doesn't find offensive, but actually likes. Also contains Vitamin E and Honey extract. BTW, my hair is fine w/tendency to frizz during the humid months. Ladies that live in states with high humidity - know what I'm talking about. This does a great job of cuting down on frizz. I may use the Infusium23 during the winter months, and Nexxus Humectress in the summer for frizz control. Two thumbs ups!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
JudgeJudy41 7/29/2008 10:24:00 AM
After reading so many good reviews, I wanted to try this for myself. Okay, I wasn't blown away by the tube. The formula was so-so and kinda clumped. The only positive for me was the price. I wouldn't had paid more than the $8.99 drugstore price. Sorry, I couldn't give a better review.

Treatments (Eye) -Dr. Denese - SPF30 Defense Eye Cream
JudgeJudy41 3/28/2008 1:30:00 PM
First of all, I purchased this product off eBay. So, I'm not for sure of the retail price. It was introduced about 3-4 weeks ago in one of the new Dr.Denese kit ( new cleanser, day cream in a tube and etc;. ). I like the consistency ( no tugging when applying ) and the silky feel. I pat it on and didn't see any creasing into my fine lines. That certainly was a big A+. Of course, I'm leery of the dreaded "milia" that is associated with eye creams/concealers. That generally doesn't come about until, I've used a product a few times - keeping my fingers crossed. The tint is alot like the SPF30 face day cream. It has the same active ingredients as the day cream - Zinc Oxide 7.5% and Octinoxate 7.5%. If all goes well, I could make this my permanent concealer. Update: I use this consistently with no problems w/milia - my sigh of relief! Highly recommend.

Lotions/ Creams -L'Occitane - 100% Pure Shea Butter
JudgeJudy41 3/28/2008 9:25:00 AM
I bought the small ( 0.26 size ) tin of L'Occitane from SkinStore.com. I was wanting a substitute for that dreadful Dr.Denese Age Correcting cream @ night time. I can't write there is a problem removing the product from the tin. The consistency was like dipping out of a Vaseline jar. On the other hand, I have seen shea butter that looked hard packed in the container. The L'Occitane texture was gritty and warming it up took away the grit. I applied it to my desert dry skin, but noticed it took a long time to absorb. Maybe, I've been using to much. I've read all the wonderful benefits from using shea butter, and will have to wait to see any results. I'm thinking shea butter comes from both East and West Africa, but are different in some ways. I may wait to use this up before deciding to buy the L'Occitane Organic shea butter OR, I may buy the unrefined on eBay. Update: I tried B&BW Too Shea and decided L'Occitane's was better. Too Shea's was more greasy-like in consistency, no matter how light it was applied. I tried the L'Occitane's with a lighter hand and it did absorb in my skin much better. I just might use this on my elbows and heels.

Concealers -Senna - Totally Transforming Concealer
JudgeJudy41 3/27/2008 10:32:00 AM
I bought this two years ago from ShopNBC. Eugenia Weston (sp? ) makeup artist went on and on about the consistency, and the non-creasing under the eyes. Well, she must had meant that for those that don't have fine lines or wrinkles. I have fines lines under my eyes and this concealer showed every one. I was so disappointed. I tried it again with some moisturizer. I came out with the same results. By the way, I did not use alot - 3 or 4 light dots of concealer. The color ( neutral light ) was good, but that was the only positive to this product. I sent it back and never ordered another Senna product.

Hair Color -Unlisted Brand - Just For Men 5 minute hair color
JudgeJudy41 3/23/2008 10:10:00 AM
My BF is starting to gets lots of gray and was wanting a change. His natural haircolor is brown, and the Just for Men comes in natural medium brown. Actually, I found this product comes in about 8-9 shades. It was reasonably priced @ $6.99 box ( Walmart ). He is intimindated by hair salons and wants no part of it. So, we decided to do the home coloring thing. I'm not a novice when it comes to home coloring. I've been coloring my own for about 10 years. It was great to get good results ( very good results ) in five minutes. The color was natural and didn't present any damage or dryness. He was very pleased and willing to do it again. This product instructs shampoo-ing immediately. That may be a good thing. Most ( 90% ) womens haircolor requires @ least 48 hours before first shampoo. If your spouse is wanting a change and hates the thought of a salon, he may want to consider this product. SkinDeep Safety database rates this a 6 ( moderate hazard ). I suppose its because the color isn't left on the hair long ( five minutes ). Plus it requires immediate shampoo.

Lotions/ Creams -Johnson & Johnson - Softlotion 24 Hour Moisture
JudgeJudy41 3/23/2008 9:29:00 AM
I've used the regular Johnson Baby Lotion for years ( have a review ) and loved the scent, feel, consistency. This past week, I came across the Johnson Soft Lotion with 24 hour moisturization. It comes in a handy pump style bottle. It sinks in beautifully and leaves a wonderful moisturized feeling on my skin. The scent is light and nearly undetectable within a few hours. That may be a good thing for those that are sensitive to fragrance. Depending on the individual - the second ingredient is mineral oil, and may not be suitable for the face. Overall, I may keep this as my regular moisturizer. Of course, my taste in cosmetics/skincare change like the weather. A++

Lotions/ Creams -Palmers - Palmers Cocoa Butter Formula
JudgeJudy41 3/19/2008 12:10:00 PM
I used this several years ago and liked it. It left my hands/cuticles so soft. I never had a problem with the scent, but always applied at bedtime. Martha Stewart made a comment that Palmers Cocoa Butter has been a staple, and she highly recommends it. I think, Martha looks good for an attractive 60-ish ( don't know her real age ) lady.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Good Morning Face Serum
JudgeJudy41 3/18/2008 10:20:00 AM
I agree with the previous review. This isn't a great product, but not bad by any means. The serum is a little thick, but does a great job of absorbing. I agree it does have a powder-y type feel and left my skin soft to the touch ( more like a primer ). I have bought this a few times ONLY when my SA was out of the Elizabeth Arden Bye Lines serum. This gets a 3 rating review on Skin Deep Cosmetics Safety data-base. The E.A. Bye Lines gets a 4 rating. My preference is the lighter, less heavy serums.

Fragrances -Unlisted Brand - Jean-Charles Brosseau Ombre Rose
JudgeJudy41 3/17/2008 5:30:00 PM
I was given this perfume about 15 years ago. It came from a young man ( now my son's father ) that worked at a local drug store. That is how we met. Anyway, they ( drugstore ) were selling this in the small black, canister type spray can. I can't say this scent is anything spectacular, but it does bring back memories. Overall, I wouldn't purchase this for myself, but would accept it as a gift - only.

Sunscreen -Unlisted Brand - Celazome Moisturizing sunscreen SPF30
JudgeJudy41 3/17/2008 5:18:00 PM
My best friend has been using this in the past year and loves it. This morning, I was flipping thru my new SkinStore catalog and decided to order it. It comes in a 4oz. bottle and price is $24.00. Free shipping and handling with online orders. It has a five star rating from many SkinStore customers. Having a good rating is important to me. The catalog reads: One application lasts all day. Provides broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection in a time released, eight hour waterproof formula. Greaseless, non-cosmedogenic and PABA free. Sunscreen ingredients: Homosalate 5.0%. Octinoxate 7.5%. Octisalate 5.0%. Oxybenzone 5.0%. We are planning a trip to Florida in a few weeks, and I will put this thru the test. I dislike having to apply sunscreen over and over in short periods. Most likely, I'll save this product for my face, neck, decolette and shoulder area. I used this on my face/neck over the Easter weekend. The box states: fragrance free. Not true. It does have the strong, typical sunscreen type scent. However, I did find this moisturizing ( non-greasy ) and absorbs within 7-10 minutes after applying. I used this under my Benefits Some-Kind-A-Gorgeous ( Fri. ) and Elizabeth Arden pressed powder ( Sat. ). It didn't cause any pilling/balling or darkening of either makeup, especially the powder. Some sunscreens will do that. This rates strong in UVB coverage, but according to SkinDeep Safety it may provide mild UVA protection. I was surprised that Prescriptives SPF products received poor ratings ( UVA/UVB ) on SkinDeep, and were much higher in price - less product. Still, I'm a firm believer that some sunscreen is better than none. Will update more on the Celazome in two-three weeks. Update: I still give this a decent rating. Using little of the product allows the makeup to go on smoothly. I used this on vacation ( Fl ) and didn't experience any burning after 8-9 hours of sun. I do recommend applying it twice in that time period.

Treatments -Elizabeth Arden - Ceramide Advanced Time Complex Capsules
JudgeJudy41 3/15/2008 5:33:00 PM
Geez...out of all my reviews, I neglected to review the very best product on the market? Anyway, I have been using the Advanced capsules for over 15 years, and they have helped my skin tremendously. Probally the single one product that has never let me down. Apparently, I wouldn't had stuck with the capsules this long, huh? Advance capsules contains ceramides ( lipids ) and this is exactly what our own skin produces. As we age, we don't produce the amount of ceramides, we did in our youth. I once experimented, by taking one capsule, and applied to the back of my hand. I waited about 20-25 minutes and ran tap water over that hand. The water flowed off ( like a ducks back ), and that explaines the capsules "barrier" it provides for the skin. The skin had that same protection in our youth - only done in a natural way. Wikipedia gives a better ( mostly scientific ) explanation. Application appears oily at first, then within a few minutes it quickly absorbs into the skin. The skin isn't left sticky, greasy or with a nasty film, but soft and more even toned. These aren't necessarily for dry skin types, I used these when my skin had oil. There is very little fragrance, and I've never experienced any stinging or burning. Ebay or T.J.Maxx have the best value for these capsules. Elizabeth Arden packaging for this product was clever/ingenious. The individual small pink tubes provides the correct amount for the face. It also protects the integrity of the serum. No subliminal message in the least. When it comes to skincare, I think what works for some - doesn't for others. Note: On Skin Deep Products Safety Database this product has a 1 rating. It doesn't get any better ;-)

Mascara -Borghese - Superiore State-Of-The-Art Mascara
JudgeJudy41 3/15/2008 10:24:00 AM
This was the only mascara, I would wear years ago. I would order two every time off ShopNBC ( back then $18.00 tube ). Anyway, I loved the silky application and how it wore without, any clumps or flaking. Removing it at night time was a breeze. I'm thinking, Borghese used a silk powder ingredient in their mascara. I could be wrong, but don't think so. I have used Costco's Borghese mascara, but there is a distinct difference in the formula's. The Kirkland formula is a little drier and clumps more. ShopNBC seems to be phasing the Borghese line out. I noticed Borghese is getting less air time. So, my new choice for mascara is Mary Kay's Ultimate mascara.

Lipstick -Flirt - Tint-a-licious Lipsheer SPF 15 in Queen
JudgeJudy41 3/14/2008 10:36:00 AM
Just recently, my sister and I were clothes/shoe shopping at Kohl's. Of course, I can never resist visiting the cosmetics dept. We were browsing the multitude of lipsticks, and the lipsheers caught my eye. Queen was the most visible and initially got my attention. I swiped it on the back of my hand, and was impressed immediately by the color. It closely resembles your own lip pigment. Has a nice shine and the color lasts every bit of 2-3 hours. The best part is the SPF15. Comes in a nice, sleek tube that will fit in any shorts/slacks pocket. I've been using the Dr.Denese Hydrating Lip Balm, but it doesn't contain SPF. Dr.Denese lip balm costs $15.00 ( on sale, not including s&h ), while Flirt's is $10.00, no s&h. My sister purchased the Embrace and its a nice color. A++
