Bronzers -Dermablend - Brush on Bronzer
rated 3 of 5

Someone with a darker complexion will find this shade complimentary. Using the tiniest bit gave me a darkish glow but I just looked a little dirty, like I need to wash after a hour out gardening. Soft texture, smooth to the touch but the color did not suit me at all. I will use it as a eyeshadow or over a chapstick.

Cleansers -Dermablend - Remover
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/9/2010 12:23:00 AM

I have nothing special to comment about about this mid-range Dermablend cleanser. It cleans well and I do have to repeat for that clean feeling. I usually need to do two steps with Dermablend or any oil-based sunscreens and foundations. First apply my cleansing oil and then a regular cleanser and I wanted to combine the steps for convenience. But since I need to repeat with this cleanser, it didn't turn out to be so convenient. And the idea of using Dermablend cleanser to clean off Dermablend foundation and setting powder was oddly appealing at the time of purchase. I'm a sucker I know.

Concealers -Dermablend - Quick-Fix
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/9/2010 12:16:00 AM

Superglue for the eyes. As a primer under eyeshadow, this concealer will not budge. Such coverage and with so much pigmentation that it was hard for me to gauge exactly how much to apply for a natural look without that dreaded heavy, cakey feeling. Armed with a concealer brush, I worked on the eye area, lids, under, over and light acne scars on my right cheek. Liked the convenience of a stick, but don't just rub it directly on. You'll only waste product and money for a kabuki look. Again I'm perfect and flawless. And plastic. This line is very effective if you use the proper tools and use the tiniest bit.

Foundations -Dermablend - Leg Cover
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/9/2010 12:09:00 AM

My sister suffer from varicose veins on her legs since early adolescence and bought this for the beach. I have a nasty scar on my knee from a childhood accident that I wanted to cover, so we tried this together on our annual summer vacation at the shore. This product, like the concealer, is not meant to be dabbed on, rubbed in and forget it. You definitely need a makeup brush if you want it half-way decently covered and you need to take your time with application. Didn't have the time or the patience, so we just slapped on and let it dry. Looked ok from afar, but cakey and orangey close-up. The match was not good either. This line has HG potential if you are simply looking for full coverage and if you had nothing but time to applying it.

Loose Powders -Dermablend - Setting Powder (loose & pressed)
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/9/2010

The setting powder complements the Dermablend foundation in that it does sets the makeup and does not budge. I'm not crazy about the texture and the need for oil-based cleanser. The powder vanishes onto your skin after it dries and once it melds with the heat of your face, you look flawless. Make sure you have no dry patches or flakes. Even with my dry skin, I get shiny and oily in a few hours so it is not doing its job. But I will definitely wear the duo for a big event, it does make your complexion perfect. Let's face, this heavy, full-coverage combo is not for every day wear.

Concealers -Dermablend - Cover Creme - Cream
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:50:00 PM

I need to take time applying this or 9 out of 10 times I end up too masky, too obviously made up. While I'm flawless, there is such thing as looking too perfect. As in unnatural. Your skin has to be exfoliated and moisturized, you need to use the tiniest amount and blend fast because it dries too fast, and always use sponge or foundation brush to apply and you need some kind of finishing powder. But for a big event go for it. Looks good in photos.

Skincare - Body -Alpha Hydrox - Alpha Hydrox all over body lotion
rated 2 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:42:00 PM

Got this on sale and I am thankful for small mercies. This body lotion should not be rubbed in before a big event or a date. While it got rid of my flakies on my arms and legs, AH body lotion is not an elegant cosmetic formulation. It had a smell that I can sense and since I'm self-conscious wearing it, I will not be putting it on my person.

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - 14% AHA Swipes
rated 4 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:37:00 PM

High quality and very effective. I do not use this on my face but on my body: my back and chest to help lighten a tan from the summer. And to prep my legs for a shave. And my daughter's backne from sweating under softball uniforms and sport bras before applying bp. I found it too drying for the face and I like to cut the pads in half so not to waste them. Wish it comes in a bigger jar.

Toners -Alpha Hydrox - Alpha Hydrox Toner-Astringent
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:28:00 PM

I'm absolute believer in the effectiveness of toners in general and a necessity in my beauty regiment. I use quality cleansers and treatment creams and moisturizing essences, lotions, serums and creams in various combination day and night. Toners are a must before foundation for me. I apply before it completely dries since I find the slightly damp skin grab and hold the liquid or powder better. AH toner-astringent is basic and affordable. And it has alcohol. I wanted to use it during the summer but It is drying over time. As the day went on and I felt that my moisturizer is not doing its job but then I realize this is the culprit. I can't use it on a consistent basis but I do like the way it made my face so smooth.

Cleansers -Alpha Hydrox - Nourishing Cleanser with Microbeads
rated 2 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:15:00 PM

I liked the cleanser at first. Got my makeup off the first time, did not leave my face uncomfortable but very soft and nourished. Actually a good feeling since most cleansers leave me tight and stinging. The beads exfoliated and the color of the cleanser was cute too. After a week I noticed fleshy white bumps on chin that went away after I stopped using this cleanser. Not the beginning of cysts but clogged pores. Got to admit that I was disappointed.

Lotions/ Creams -Alpha Hydrox - Ultra Rich Hand Therapy Creme
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:05:00 PM

It is rich but not very effective. My hands are showing some wear and tear and I'm making conscientious effort to take care of them better and go for a manicure every now and then. Temporary softness but doesn't last for an hour. Doesn't soothe chapped, dishwater hands or garden hands. This is relegated to my feet.

Cleansers -Alpha Hydrox - Foaming Face Wash
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 11:00:00 PM

This is a basic cleanser. Affordable but generic. Less oomph than MD forte cleansers but more powerful than cetaphil or any other drug store cleanser. This gets all my layers off easily and I do moisturize afterwards for comfort and for makeup. I like to use this mainly in the mornings to prep the skin for foundation and I will probably pick it up at the local CVS if on sale.

Treatments -Alpha Hydrox - AHA Souffle 12 percent Glycolic AHA
rated 3 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 10:38:00 PM

This is a strong concentration of AHA at an affordable price that delivers. I'm a product junky and can't be faithful to any one product but this is one of many glycolic acid creams that I have on my rotation which started two decades ago. I'm a firm believer in rotating different products and letting the skin rest once in a while from one product or another. And going sans everything for a time too. I swear I look better. I find glycolic and retinol combination work for my dry, sensitive skin prone to breakouts (and getting fine lines) like a charm. Lightens everything unsightly and eases laugh lines and brightens my eye area for a rested look. But I have been using glycolics in different formulations and for many years now and it is the continued usage of AHAs that have served me well and not just one product. When I use this it is at night and when I'm not using retinol and vitamin c during the day under sunscreen. Always use sparingly.

Treatments -Acne.org - AHA+
rated 4 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 10:10:00 PM

You won't be able to find this quality AHA for this price anywhere and the tube will last for months. No nonsense exfoliant that you must have on hand with bp. I'm partial to the more elegant formulations of MD Forte and Avene products but Acne. Org's AHA is just as hardworking at half the price if not less. This is not a moisturizer and you must wear sunscreen.

Skincare - Face -Acne.org - Organic Jojoba Oil
rated 4 of 5
Jinhee 9/8/2010 10:04:00 PM

This is high quality oil and the price is excellent. I find jojoba just don't absorb well so I like to use it as pre-cleanser for face and as hair treatment of course. I loosen the makeup and dirt by gently rubbing oil on my dry skin and washing off with a cleanser. No dryness ever. I mix with my shampoo and don't always need to use conditioner afterwards. Straightens out the frizzies instantly. And the bottle will last forever.
