This is orange. Straight up, punch you in your face orange. No pink tones, no peach tones, just ORANGE. AND I LOVE IT. I'm trying to branch away from my usual blues, purples, and reds. This was the first spring color I bought for this year and I love it! It applies really opaque and you only really need one coat! It dries really fast and as long as you do a base and topcoat, chipping is minimal. For less than three dollars, if you're in the mood for a really basic orange, this is for you!

Polishes -Maybelline - Express Finish Nail Polish (any color)

Not impressed with this brand of polish as a whole. There are a few nice colors but overall I think I will stick to Essie. First of all, I can't find the full line ANYWHERE. I can only find the new spring collection in the drugstores near me, so not very pleased with that. Second, the formula. BLECK. Of the four colors I own, only 3 are really any good, and even then they aren't so great. The formula doesn't settle particularly well and streaks like crazy. Due to the "50 second dry time" you have to work in really thick layers or it dries in streaks. And working in thick layers means more chances for bubbles and unevenness. Moving onto the colors that I own: (all four are a part of the spring 2012 collection) PEACHY PETAL (60): This one is the worst of the bunch. The color is a very light pastel peachy color that I should have run away from. The color makes me look sickly and weird. The formula is also awful. It dries streaky and uneven. Into the trash it goes. TULIP TANGO (70): Tulip Tango dries a hot pink-ish color with some peach tones throw in. This one I actually quite like. It coats evenly, but takes a few layers to get really opaque. LOVE ME LAVENDER (80): This one is a lighter and less blue version of Essie's play date, which I greatly prefer. This one is thin and takes around 3 coats to get really opaque. ORCHIDS OH MY (30): My mom LOVES this color. She likes a thinner application of polish. This one is a pretty thin formula, but the color is a very vibrant dark fuscia. I like it well enough. So overall, the brand is eh. I think if you want to spend the money, go to Target and get some Essie polishes. They apply more opaque and less streaky and you can find almost the exact same colors as these four I have.

Polishes -Essie - Show Me The Ring
rated 4 of 5

This is a very nice neutral color with gold flecks in it. It is very unique and I do plan to wear it a lot in the summer! At the moment I am a bit pale and my nails are stained (note to self: when wearing red polish, PUT ON A BASE COAT) but I think once I have more color to my skin this will look great! On me it can look a little uneven if applied thinly on bare nails, but if I put a neutral color underneath it, it looks very nice! My friend borrowed it for prom and it matched her dress EXACTLY! Overall a nice color that I do plan to reach for often!

Polishes -Essie - Play Date

This is the perfect lilac color for me! I have a funny skintone that can look weird with most colors in the pastel family. This being a darker lilac means it doesn't look like I am a zombie! Essie is a great quality brand of polish and this one is no different! The first time I used it I didn't apply a base or top coat and it took 2 days to start chipping. With a base and top coat I could probably get 2 weeks out of it. I usually don't wear polish for more than a week though xD

Polishes -Essie - Angora Cardi
rated 5 of 5
ChaseSpearing 6/9/2012 4:30:00 PM

This is the most interesting shade of polish I have seen in a while! The only way I can describe it is a dusty mauvey- brown color with purpley undertones. What makes it so interesting is how it almost changes colors in different lights! Depending on the lighting it can look almost brick colored. In another light it can be brown. And in another it can be almost purple! Being Essie, the chipping is minimal and shine and staying power are right up there with the salon brand polishes! This is more of a "fall" color (I think it was part of a previous fall collection) but I will definitely be wearing it year round!

Lip Treatments -Nivea - A Kiss of Flavor Strawberry Tinted Lipcare SPF 4
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 6/9/2012 4:26:00 PM

Nivea lip balms are the only ones I ever use and I was quite impressed with this! The color is a very sheer redish tint - like you just ate a cherry popsicle! It also smells and tastes very nice :) I took this on vacation to the beach with me and its all I wore for two weeks straight! It keeps my lips smooth and soft while still adding some color and shine. It is a TINY bit sparkly, but it isn't like "OH MY GOD SOMEONE POURED SPARKLES ON YOUR FACE" it more just adds a slight shine to the lips that is very flattering. This also looks good on most skintones. My skin is more neutral to cool and it looks nice on me. My mom is VERY warm toned and it looks just as nice on her! The color is very neutral and sheer so its great for everybody! I will be repurchasing this! And I will probably need to soon since Ive had it for about a month and I'm almost out!

Bronzers -New York Color - Smooth Skin Bronzing Face Powder in Sunny 720
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 5/23/2012 12:14:00 PM

I have been scared of bronzer ever since I started learning about makeup (that was about freshman year, I'm a junior now). Every bronzer I have ever tried or had applied to me was either orange, to dark, or made me look like a character from Lost xD Needless to say after finding this little beauty for less than $4 at my local Target, I have overcome my fear!!! It is totally matte, which is great! I don't prefer shimmery products on my face except highlighter :/ It is also TOTALLY neutral. No overpowering orange or pink tones, so it will fit most people's skintone. I use this everyday all over my face to give me a summery glow (STILL RAINING IN PORTLAND AND IT'S MAY) with a fluffy brush (I use the ELF studio all over face brush) and a tiny bit of it with an angled blush brush (ELF essential face brush) to contour my cheeks a bit. I don't really need to contour at all, my dad says he could break a bottle on my cheekbones xD, but I do it anyway because I think it adds more dimension to a person's face :D ENOUGH YAMMERING. This bronzer is great and even if you don't like it, it's really cheap so you aren't loosing a bunch of money *cough cough* Benefit Hula Bronzer*cough cough*

Lip Treatments -Smith's Rosebud Salve - Smith's Strawberry Lip Balm
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 5/2/2012 11:27:00 PM

OH MAH GOD. I LOOOOOVVVEEE this!!! I was dorking around Sephora (which I do EVERY TIME I go to the mall xD) and came across this with its sister (the rosebud salve...?). I am not a particularly huge fan of rose scented things so I opened this up instead and OH MAH GOD it smells like STRAWBERRY CANDY. It doesn't have any tint and the tin will last you FOREVER. I think mine may be a mini version because its only 0.8 OZ. but it will still last me for many many years to come! Not only does it smell good, but it works too! Ive been wearing it pretty much all day and have noticed my lips are very smooth! It is moistruizing and has a slight sheen without being sticky or goopey, very light on the lips which I ADORE. I found this near the cash register at Sephora, where they sell all the little versions of things :) and it was $7, no tax because I live in Oregon :D DEFINITELY worth the 7 bucks I paid and even if you dont like it I'm pretty sure Sephora will refund opened stuff. :)

Lipstick -E.L.F. - Studio Matte Lip Color
rated 1 of 5
ChaseSpearing 5/1/2012 10:59:00 PM

I usually LOVE elf, but this was a HUGE miss for me :( I have two colors, Tea Rose and Coral. Tea Rose, to me, looks lilac. As in pastel lilac. Ive got pretty fair skin so I thought I could work this. Nope. RIGOR MORTIS IS NOT A PRETTY SIGHT. So yeah, that is going in the trash. Coral is a very nice light pinky-coral (duh) and I ADORE the way it looks in the little tubey thingy but the application was less so. It was very chalky and made me look like I had horribly cracked lips. Also going in the trash. The formula, due to its matte properties, is VERY drying on the lips. You HAVE to wear a lip balm, gloss, or both! Again, not happy. (This isn't really that big of a deal but it biffed me a little.) On the side of the tube, which is about the only good thing with this product, the label literally MELTED off. SO ANNOYING. Overall, pretty disappointing and do not plan to re-purchase :P

Fragrances -Demeter - Cherry Blossom
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 4/21/2012 10:23:00 PM

I got this at Rite Aid for 10 bucks. TOTAL STEAL. And on top of being a great deal it smells awesome! My mom loves "Dirt" by the same brand and and though I like that one too it smells a bit to much like...dirt xD to be "appropriate" for school and work and such. The scent itself is floral and slightly fruity, not to much and not too little. Still very light, fresh, and not sickly and nauseating :) I think this is my fragrance for spring this year! >:D

Polishes -Essie - Beach Bum Blu
rated 4 of 5

This is a GREAT electric metallic sky blue! It takes a coat or two to get it fully opaque but that's fine by me! It dries relatively quickly if you work in thinner layers. I love this color for spring and summer, so yes I highly recommend!

Polishes -Sally Hansen - Crackle Overcoat in Ink SpLatter
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 4/11/2012 9:17:00 PM

This product was my first exposure to shatter polish and I really do like it! I literally got it 10 minutes ago and the first thing I did when I got home was try it out! I think it looks a lot cooler over a lighter colored background because of the intensity of the contrast but thats just my opinion on the matter :) It takes a few minutes of practice to get it but once you do it's fun to watch it work its magic! It dries SUPER fast! Maybe 10 seconds at most so you have to work quickly! Also, try not to apply over the same area again or it won't do its thing :) I definitely recommend this!!!

Blush -NYX - Rouge Cream Blush - Glow
rated 4 of 5
ChaseSpearing 3/30/2012 12:02:00 AM

This blush is so creamy and easy to blend. The color is a wee bit dark for me with my winter-light skin but in the summer it looks really really pretty :) I either use my fingers or a stippling brush to apply it. Applying with my fingers usually yields a more pigmented look while using a stippling brush is a bit more natural. And even if you apply a bit to much you can blend it out and it looks really nice :) I believe the only place NYX is sold is at Ulta, which is good because even if you pick a shade you don't like Ulta has a really great return policy for opened and used products :)

I hate to add to the tremendous number of good reviews for this product but I must. It sets my makeup without looking cakey and provides an amazing finish to the skin, no matter what is underneath it!! This is now being sold at the Target stores in my area and I highly suggest you all try it out!

Misc Beauty Tools -E.L.F. - Mechanical Eyelash Curler
rated 5 of 5
ChaseSpearing 3/29/2012 11:31:00 PM

THIS. IS. SO AMAZING. SCREW YOU SHU UEMURA! This eyelash curler is ONE DOLLAR and works better than most of the high end eyelash curlers I've tried. I love that it has little handles!!! It's also spring loaded!!! Which is awesome!!! AAAANNNNDDD it comes with an extra rubbery-squishy-thingy (that's a technical term right there ;D) So head to your local Target and pay one dollar for an eyelash curler other companies seem to think they can sell for 40.
