Fragrances -Dolce & Gabbana - Light Blue

First of all--this is not a unique or special perfume. It's a inoffensive, sort of bland, gender neutral type fragrance. To me it has zero fruity or girly fruity notes. It reminds me of a light/fresh/musk guy's cologne. The notes that I can smell in it are bergamot and jasmine, and a 'clean' white musk. At first, I loved this perfume but after wearing it daily for about a month, I couldn't stand to smell it anymore. especially after it dried down, it has good lasting power but something about the weird musk it has after several hours just gets to me. It has a weird synthetic smelling, chemical note. I couldn't smelling it on my clothes anymore, so I stopped wearing it. Light blue is a very clean, fresh perfume. It's very common, I smell it EVERYWHERE. When I go out, I smell this on so many girls as they walk past---I think that's partly why I'm not too keen on LB anymore, b/c so many girls have this. Guys seem to really like this fragrance, which is a plus with me. I like it, it's a good perfume, but will not wear it anymore because I don't love it.

Lipstick -MAC - Lustre in Hug Me
rated 3 of 5
Cactus_Pear 4/2/2007 3:46:00 AM

This was the very first MAC product I ever bought, so it was the first MAC lipstick I ever bought. I was picking out a shade and this one stood out the most to me out of the light/neutral pinks. The color is very close my real lip color, when i apply it, there's really no difference except for the slick finish. I can see how this is an HG for some people because it's very wearable. But the lustre formula feels so greasy on my lips--I hate how it feels and the staying power is not that great. I think hug me is overrated, but if you're interested in this lipstick, definitely try it out b/c it may work for you. I found it boring but it's a good staple to have.

Eye Shadow -MAC - Carbon
rated 2 of 5

The texture of Carbon feels rather dirty, like soot or charcoal. And it looks like soot when applied on my skin. It's not very flattering, hard to work with, and has a icky texture. For a while, I was using this everyday to set my eyeliner (usually MAC engraved powerpoint) after using tons of UD primer because I have oily lids, but every single day, I was getting raccoon eyes by midday. It was irritating, and after I switched to Urban Decay Zero, this stopped happening. Also--carbon is hard to blend. Zero is a much better black e/s, much more versatile and flattering than Carbon is.

Eye Shadow -Urban Decay - Deluxe Eyeshadow - Zero
rated 5 of 5

I love UD Zero. the texture is soo silky and smooth--it's sheer but buildable. It's a sheer black eyeshadow that has a gorgeous but subtle shimmer that makes it look glowy and very pretty. Zero is a must-have if you do black smokey eyes, or set your eyeliner w/black eyeshadow. I have this and MAC Carbon, which I never reach for anymore because the texture of Carbon feels like soot/coal compared to Zero. Zero also has great staying power and is long lasting on me. A definite HG for me.

Makeup Brushes -MAC - 182 Buffer Brush (Couture)
rated 5 of 5
Cactus_Pear 3/11/2007 5:30:00 AM

BEST. BRUSH. EVER!!!! I can't believe how few reviews this has. this is the best brush for powders/studio fix powder foundation/bronzers. 182 is soo soft yet firm and dense. It picks up alot or little pigment depending on how much you want, and it blends powder into skin flawlessly/very smoothly, and easily. The hairs are soo soft, it's the softest kabuki brush i have ever felt. and i love the handle, instead of being a wooden laquered handle like most MAC brushes, it's a smooth, sleek metal handle with a soft finish.

Lipstick -MAC - Matte - Kinda Sexy
rated 5 of 5
Cactus_Pear 3/5/2007 7:13:00 PM

Kinda Sexy is a medium/light dusty/muted pink with rosy undertones. It's great for that plump Angelina Jolie-lips look--some of my friends tell me that my lips look plumper when I wear this lipstick, which is not really a good thing because I like to tone down my lips. It's an understated but alluring color--the name fits it perfectly, it is 'kinda sexy'. :) Love this lipstick alone for a pink, not-quite nude l/s or as a base for other lipglosses. The color/texture/finish reminds me of the Mod look, except kinda sexy is a bit darker/rosier.

Blush -Chanel - Joues Contraste in Fantasia
rated 5 of 5
Cactus_Pear 3/4/2007 7:37:00 PM

Fantasia is an amazing blush. A true HG for me. This blush is super pigmented and needs to be applied with a light hand and a good blush brush. I use 187 skunk brush for this b/c it is so pigmented. Fantasia looks like a chalky dull pink in the pan but goes on with an intense iridescence. The shimmer in this is subtle and more like a sheen than a shimmer--it's very rosey looking, it flashes berry/rose/red/pink in the light. If applied too much, the iricescence can look red and scary. Fantasia is a very unique, gorgeous shade and I think it's great for night time and for a very sophisticated look. Fantasia is one of my favorite blushes
