Eye Shadow -MAC - Paint Pot in Indianwood
Breve 4/21/2010 12:26:00 AM
Hmm. Well I think this bronze-y light chocolate brown with gold is too brassy and warm on me. I think it would look killer on girls who are tanner and have blue eyes though. On my green eyes, it makes them look a little muddy and with my pale skin/freckles it just looks too heavy. I love the texture of this paint pot though and how it's two tone! You can spread it very lightly and it's mainly gold, but if you smudge it with your finger a bit it turns more brown, so you can get the look of two eyeshadows with just 1, fun!

Eyeliner -MAC - Grey Utility Powerpoint
Breve 4/21/2010 12:23:00 AM
Well my main problems with Grey Utility is that it changes colors on my lids! On my hand, at the store, I swiped it and it was a nice flat grey color. I was looking for a grey and so I took it home...Only to find that it turned navy blue on my lids! Not even a hint of grey! Completely a different color than on my hand. I even swiped it again on my hand at home to see if it was just the lighting. Apparently this color change didn't happen to the other reviewers on here, but I just wanted to give a heads up to other girls on here, you might want to try this on at the store first to make sure it stays grey on you. I'm going to return it to Mac and see if I can find a true grey for me. 3 stars for the powerpoint though- Smooth, easy to apply, doesn't smudge very much, no tugging, easy to sharpen!

Mascara -Cover Girl - Lash Blast
Breve 3/12/2010 12:48:00 PM
Wow, a drugstore mascara that I actually like! I think it has more to do with the applicator than the actual mascara. My eyelashes are thin but long and so they get weighed down and clumpy with the typical mascara wand (despite me trying the various methods of wiggling, etc). This mascara wand is actually a comb for your lashes. I haven't had one clump with this mascara, it's amazing! You just have wipe off the excess at the tips before applying. It doesn't curl but if you use an eyelash curler before you use it then you won't have a problem with that. I would definitely recommend trying it if you have a problem with mascara sticking and clumping and giving you spider lashes. I think the formula is good too because I haven't had any flaking, (which I do get from my far more expensive Lancome Definicils!). I took off one lippie because I don't like the chemical smell of a lot of mascaras, and it doesn't curl or lengthen dramatically even though it's a good solid mascara overall.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Plushglass - Fulfilled
Breve 3/12/2010 12:39:00 PM
This is my favorite lip gloss! On my very pigmented lips it doesn't really provide any color. It gives a slightly peach sheer layer though. The plushglasses are plumping, high shine, and very moisturizing! Not at all super sticky either like the stupid dazzleglasses. This shade in particular is great if you have peachy/golden undertones to your skin like I do, it brings them out but looks completely natural. I love it.

Styling Products -Beyond The Zone - power lift
Breve 3/12/2010 12:34:00 PM
I bought this at Sally's about a year ago after reading great things about the Matrix amplify root booster, and wanted to save some money (This is the dupe for that product). However it did nothing for my hair. I ended up returning it. Luckily, I got to swap for the matrix spray a few weeks later, and what a difference! I find, getting dupes/fakes at Sally's is a hit and miss. Sometimes there products are amazingly great quality like the originals, and sometimes, they fall short. This one did that for me. But you should also pay attention to reviews of products by people with your same hair type. Maybe this works well on coarser hair types. My hair shaft is too skinny and gets weighed down easily by certain products.

Lip Gloss -MAC - Dazzleglass in Get Rich Quick
Breve 3/8/2010 8:04:00 PM
This was my first Dazzleglass and it will be my last. My review is mainly for all the dazzleglasses not just this shade. The formula is nasty! Incredibly sticky. The glitters are huge and get everywhere. I had glittler on my cheeks from my hair getting stuck on the gloss and touching my face. My family had glitter on their faces from me kissing them too! It's just terribly sticky. I know not all Mac lipglosses are this sticky (ie: Mac's plushglass is WONDERFUL) or this outrageously glittery. The glitter is pretty to look at and on your lips it's nice but it's just way too messy for me. It's hard to get off- you have to use soap and wipe away. It also feels very heavy and gross on your lips. I had to take it off after a few hours of wearing it because it was bothering me so much. Pros: The color payoff for a gloss is great. This particular color is a pretty dark chocolate brown. On my very pigmented lips, it turns slightly burgundy but still stays pretty brown overall. The stickiness, glitteriness, and overall heaviness of this gloss was just too much for me to handle..Thank goodness Mac has a great return policy!

Styling Products -TRESemme - Thermal Creations Volumizing Mousse
Breve 3/6/2010 7:09:00 PM
I'm surprised by all the rave reviews for this product. I got it because of all the love it got here on MUA but I was sorely disappointed. I wasn't looking for a miracle mousse by any means, but it did not meet my expectations. BTW my hair is fine. dry and wavy. When it dries naturally it kind've just hangs on my head, so I need to blow dry it to give it any body. The Pros: Does not leave a sticky, stiff or product residue like feeling like some styling products do. I just used it for the first time and my hair feels "normal". You can't feel any product in it. Cons: Volumizing, really? I got barely any volume from this product. My Matrix amplify volumizing root spray works WAY better than this stuff. Of course it is more expensive but maybe that's why. I don't know if I should even bother trying any more drugstore hair products, Like drugstore makeup, I come to it with not expecting much, and STILL it doesn't even meet my low expectations. -Left my hair kind've dull looking. Usually when I use a hair product it will leave my hair a little shinier even if that wasn't in the product description. This stuff just makes my hair look dry after I'm done blowdrying. I only know of one other drugstore hair product that works decently (Garnier Nutrisse sleek and shine deep conditioning mask), but I'll save that for another review. I guess I'm going to stick with buying salon products when I can afford it so I don't waste any more money on sub-par products.

Eyeliner -MAC - Technakohl in Plank
Breve 3/5/2010 10:57:00 PM
This eyeliner is okay. It is a light, milk chocolate color. Like hershey's chocolate milk, haha. Because of that, it has a grey undertone to it, which doesn't really flatter my warm with yellow undertones, skin, or my green eyes. It has a tendency to make the whites of my eyes look "muddy" if you know what I mean. I think it would look better on someone who has clear blue eyes- not dark green like mine. BUT despite these negatives (for me), I still use it sometimes. It's a very light color so it's great for if you're going for a very natural, soft look. It also looks good with certain color eyeshadows (and bad with other colors...). EDIT- I'm bumping my rating up to 4 stars. I actually really like this one as my lower liner. I've yet to find another brown eyeliner that softly defines that area like Plank does. I've been missing it since I ran out. So it's not that great for me as an upper liner but for bottom it's HG!

Eye Shadow -MAC - Architecture Paint
Breve 3/5/2010 10:49:00 PM
This is my first Mac paint and I like it a lot! I can't wait to try other colors. The consistency is smoother than the HiP pains I tried in the past, which were a little oily and sticky. I love the texture on this- very smooth but adheres to the lids well. Architecture has been described well already on here- a light carmel brown with a yellow undertone. It looks great on my skin tone- warm with yellow undertones-NC20. I find that it looks good with a light-medium wash all over my eyelid, and then a little extra layer in the outer crease to create a little definition. This color looks very nice with my green eyes and auburn-ish hair. I like to pair this with a slightly darker brown eyeliner (Mac costa riche for me), some brown mascara and Naked Lunch as a highlight. It is a perfectly natural and neutral everyday look. Doesn't crease at all, stays put all day, easy to apply (I just use my pinky finger), and doesn't irritate my eyes like loose, shimmery eye shadows do. I've tried applying this as a base under light- medium pink and peach colors but it doesn't seem to bring out those colors very well. It might work better under other browns or darker colors though. Great everyday eyeshadow!

Blush -MAC - Sheertone Blush in Blushbaby
Breve 2/17/2010 8:36:00 PM
I guess I don't use a lot of blush because I never end up repurchasing because I can never finish one. Anyway onto the review. This is a pretty mauvey color on my fair skin. I usually wear it as a contour color under my cheekbones. I got this with Peachiness in a duo and they work great together. I wouldnt wear this color as an overall cheek color because it is more cool toned and too dark on me for an overall color, but it looks really pretty as a contour. It is also MATTE which I love. Took one lippie off because it's not a favorite of mine necessarily (don't reach for it everyday) and it can be a little hard to blend (sometimes looks streaky if you don't blend very well).

Eyeliner -MAC - Eyeliner Kohl in Costa Riche
Breve 2/17/2010 7:57:00 PM
This is the perfect eyeliner color for my fair skin with warm undertones, green eyes and light copper hair. It is a near match for my hair color actually so it looks really natural on me. I love that it's a medium brown without any grey undertones and it's not a flat neutral dirt brown either like I found Stubborn Brown to be on me. The reddish/copper undertones in this liner make it extra special and flattering for green eyes. It's not a very dark color though so if you wear black mascara it look too light and coppery underneath. The eye kohl's smudge very easily though. But they smudge because they are so soft and glide on easily...which I love too! So I guess you got to give something to get something. I do find it leaves a dark shadow/smudge on my brow bone by mid day if I don't check up on it and wipe it away, so if you just check up on it after wearing it for a little while you should be good. EDIT- I can't wear this one anymore even though it really brought out my eyes. You might have an allergic reaction to this one like I did if you are sensitive to red pigment. I've found I can't wear any coppery/bronzy red eye products anymore because they irritate my eyes. This costa riche did that, so be careful if your eyes are prone to sensitivity.

Polishes -Sephora - Sephora by OPI - Domestic Goddess
Breve 2/17/2010 7:48:00 PM
I love this color!! When I pull it out, the name always makes me smile. To me, it's a sophisticated and glamorous purple...definitely not for just staying in and doing housework :) It's not too dark either for fair skin tones which is why I love it. I have a hard time pulling off really dark polishes but this color is really pigmented but not at all dark. If you love wearing purples on your face, nails or body you got to try this one!
